@B1993 I'm sorry you are going through this. I read a good resource that said vitex is ok in pregnancy so may be worth continuing to take this, at least until you can get hold of some progesterone. Here's a link to the research/ article: www.sciencedirect.com/topics/pharmacology-toxicology-and-pharmaceutical-science/vitex-agnus-castus

I am actually quite into herbs and since my three miscarriages found out about cramp bark / black haw and oat straw/ flowers. They can help prevent miscarriage by calming your uterus and strengthening it, I'm taking it as a tea or tincture every day until I'm 9 weeks. It's been used for hundreds of years and no evidence of it causing harm, plenty of historic evidence that it can help especially in case of a threatened miscarriage or recurring miscarriage. I bought the teas online from indigo herbs. Xx

Hi! Been feeling very sick the last few days. Think I’m 5+5.

Haven’t self referred yet. Should do that today…

@Skylark1990 thank you lovely! Gosh these threads fill up fast don't they! Can't believe we're on number 4 already.

Is anyone using the FB group? The messages on here fly past very quickly xxx

Gilm0reGirl · 25/08/2022 11:10

@ancienthouse excellent! So glad your scan went well and you saw a heart beat. I don't have a private scan for another 2.5 weeks but I'm hoping for good news too. Although all these lovely earlier scans also make me want to have it earlier.

Gilm0reGirl · 25/08/2022 11:12

@Skylark1990 those herbs sound incredibly interesting, I'm going to have a little read. I also suffer from early miscarriage and used vitex to conceive our DD and now this one, and I've never heard of these so I'm going to have a little look. Thanks for the recommendation

Skylark1990 · 25/08/2022 11:21

@Gilm0reGirl I thought worth a try - based on my own reading, I couldn't see why there would be any harm but ofc it's not something doctors know about so would need to make your own judgement call, or if you know of a fertility herbalist you could ask them too... Here are some articles on it :) Happy reading!

(I couldn't find partridgeberry in the UK but I've made a tea from mixing loose leaf cramp bark, black haw and oat straw - I use 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of both cramp bark and black haw then 1 full teaspoon of oat straw, in one cup of tea per day. On the days I can't stomach the tea (mix honey into it haha) I take 2.5 ml of black haw tincture in water instead. I bought them all from Indigo Herbs) x

@Skylark1990 amazing! Thank you.

Skylark1990 · 25/08/2022 11:30

@Gilm0reGirl just to note, this doesn't apply to the herbs, but one of the articles I've linked to talks about using vitamin e for recurrent miscarriage prevention too. I read loads into this and it does seem there are a few studies which show it can help to prevent miscarriage in a similar way to aspirin. However I spoke to Professor Quenby (RM specialist) about taking extra vitamin e and she said there'd also been a study linking excess vitamin e to stillbirth - I looked into it and it said that the people in the study had also taken excess vitamin c so it's hard to draw a proper conclusion but it did put me off. So I took it during the TWW to help with blood flow to the uterus, and for first week of pregnancy, then I stopped. A smaller dose in a prenatal would be fine but I thought better to avoid the larger dose (even though plenty of studies have also shown this to be safe!). Just thought I'd mention as initially I was v excited about vitamin e! Haha x

Welcome to the new thread @chillichillioil , @PuddingBear and @longbin!

I'm not really using the FB group yet. I would like to but I worry some people on here aren't also on FB? I thought we could potentially do a whatsapp group at some point if that appeals...

@Skylark1990 WhatsApp is a good idea, I think it would be easier as the thread moves on so quickly!

limoncelloo · 25/08/2022 11:53

Hi all if anyone remembers me- not sure I've been on here since thread 1!

Coming up to 9 weeks now! Still very, very, very sick and struggling to function or do much. Anti-sickness tablets do sweet F.A.

Hope everyone is well x

B1993 · 25/08/2022 11:59

Just a quick update... my bleeding has become a heavier and is now bright red in colour.

I called EPU again and just got the same message about it being a 'wait and see' situation and that it just isn't meant to be. I enquired about progesterone but she said they wouldn't give it unless the pregancy is viable, which they couldn't determine until 6 weeks.

At this stage, with the blood getting progressively heavier, I think I'm going to have to accept my April baby tried their hardest but couldn't hang on. 💔

Wishing everyone happy and successful pregnancies.

AliceinSlumberland · 25/08/2022 11:59

Checking into the new thread :)

I remember you @limoncelloo so sorry you’ve been so sick, when did it start if you don’t mind me asking?

Just been to see my gorgeous 6 day old new niece, omg so cute. She’s my husbands sisters baby, this baby will be the first baby on my side, but lovely to think if it all works out they will be cousins very close in age.

OttilieKnackered · 25/08/2022 12:02

So sorry @B1993 . It’s so unfair. Take care of yourself.

Lapin387 · 25/08/2022 12:07

Please can we stop recommending people lie to doctors to try to get extra scans etc? It is totally inappropriate. Most here (assuming nobody else is medical) do not know better than those staffing the EPUs. It is wrong to tell people to make up symptoms etc.

Lapin387 · 25/08/2022 12:08

@B1993 I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there myself. Be kind to yourself, it’s ok to grieve what you thought you would have x

I'm inclined to agree, even though I've had some hideous care and lack of support from GP during my MCs, I still wouldn't lie about symptoms or having pain where there is none. Maybe that's just my morals.

Margo34 · 25/08/2022 12:15

@Lapin387 oh I'm so sorry to hear this. Be kind to yourself

So sorry @B1993 😔

LauraA31 · 25/08/2022 12:21

@B1993 im so sorry :(

Tropicana1 · 25/08/2022 12:22

Glad I've found the new thread!

@B1993 sorry you're going through this, I think the difficulty is at 19dpo / 4+5 a scan won't be very helpful and won't give you any information about viability, but an hcg blood test would potentially tell you if your levels are where they should be and a paired one 48hrs apart would tell you if they're rising or falling. Progesterone is only likely to be helpful if you have low progesterone but again they could test your levels and then prescribe immediately based on results.

Have you repeated a home pregnancy test? Are the lines getting darker or lighter?
