Big congrats @Skylark1990 what an emotional scan that it's have been for you that gave me happy goosebumps my initial cycle buddy is on track 😘

@STom2 so I called the hospital to double check the scan situation as I vaguely remember going with my son when I was expecting #2 and although they didn't give me a firm no as such, they did say they recommend no children as scan is medical and also in case bad news is given etc so will just need to either go solo or find a random to babysit my 2 yr old lol. It did give me the shivers when she said in case there's bad news it brought back the fear and yday was my actual due date for baby I lost and I didn't sleep too good last night. Roll on Wednesday 🤞🏼

@OceanbreezeSun I'm still thinking to go natural but will see nearer 30 weeks when I'm booked for an additional growth scan as I went for C-section last time due to a bad tear previously. But she turned out to be small in the end so would rather avoid another section I found the recovery very hard for it in comparison to my naturals even where I have torn badly. What about you?

STom2 · 22/09/2022 20:26

@MooBugz Definitely unnerving to have to go through the 20 week scan alone. There is a part of me that feels it will be best to not have DS there should there be any bad news.

@skylark1990 Congrats on the great scan earlier today!! 👏

OceanbreezeSun · 22/09/2022 21:07

@Skylark1990 Congratulations on the positive scan, such good news!❤️

I really like the sound of a home birth or a birthing pool but I think I feel apprehensive about it since I ended up being induced with dd after my waters fully broke (and carried on breaking!) but labour didn’t progress further. I didn’t give birth till 3 days later. We ended up both staying in hospital for a week. I’m hoping for a quicker birth with minimal hospital stay this time around!🤞🏼@MooBugz Would like very much for another vb too but don’t want to be induced. Fortunately, dd was ok and I recovered well, overall a positive birth despite the initial induction but I still feel anxious about it this time around. I’m going to speak to the midwife about different options at my next appointment.

@STom2 I can understand why you are not thinking about birth plans yet. I didn’t really start thinking about it till these last 2 weeks.

Lmcc88 · 22/09/2022 21:35

Hey guys! I’ve not checked in for a while so missed loads of posts!

just seen your news about your scan @Skylark1990 thats great! So happy for you!

RedElleJ · 23/09/2022 06:30

Amazing. Wes @Skylark1990 - hopefully you can enjoy your holiday with a little less anxiety and then before you know it, you’ll get to see little one having a wriggle again ☺️ X

Skylark1990 · 23/09/2022 10:04

@OceanbreezeSun similar thing happened to me, my waters broke early on and I was in latent labour for 3 days. The risk of infection is actually very low, despite recommendation to get induced after 24 hours if not in active labour. After a few days I did go into active labour but I was exhausted so ended up going into hospital and having the drip and an epidural, DD came a few hours later via instrumental delivery. We had a week in Hospital after but this was actually good as we got lots of bf support.

The key thing to remember is you don't have to accept any intervention - it's your choice. Induction based in post dates or "late" baby has been shown time and again to often cause more issues that it apparently solves. Ofc sometimes there are good reasons to induce, but we do have a bit of an induction epidemic in this country ATM with a lot of women being induced unnecessarily, and then suffering traumatic labours. Did you do a hypnobirthing course first time round? I found the one I did so so informative and helpful for knowing my rights and also knowing how to navigate difficult decisions.

Also I think second babies do tend to come more quickly, so hopefully that's the case for both of us 😊

Skylark1990 · 23/09/2022 10:06

Thank you all for your lovely kind words about the scan! Definitely feeling more and more real 🥰🙏

@MooBugz Wednesday was the due date of the first baby I lost, so we were very similar then too. I actually didn't realise on the day but reading your message now made me remember. I lost that one before 5 weeks so it was v early on, still has been a very weird time thinking about how if it had stuck I'd either be heavily pregnant right now counting down the days or have a newborn. Sending love. It's hard xx

MooBugz · 23/09/2022 11:23

@Skylark1990 I have fast labours anyway it's on my notes to always take me in early as they nearly messed up before and I would have birthed in the car haha. Second baby most definitely faster in my case I remember going in with contractions feeling totally in control and midwife agreeing with me not being in active labour yet and ready to send me home. Cue me suddenly thinking I need to 💩 and along comes baby 10mins after 🥹 explains the tearing too lol. Boys eh..

Weird is a good way to explain the feeling this week that's how I was and still am a little bit it's a bittersweet feeling isn't it. Your doing great bin genuinely so happy you are back in the group. So many amazing and difficult journeys in this thread alone I think we are a strong bunch 😘

STom2 · 23/09/2022 14:35

In my head a bit today. Still 11 days until my 20 week scan. 19 weeks since yesterday. Can't help feeling like I should "feel" more movement by now as its my second. Particularly as I've felt the odd light kick or flutter off and on for few weeks. But still finding if I try and sit and concentrate I'm getting nada! So I'm not sure whether I've felt anything at all today.

As I say, just in my head a bit about it today. I don't think it's helped that I happened upon a thread on MN yesterday by a poor woman who experienced late miscarriage.

Skylark1990 · 23/09/2022 14:36

@STom2 it's very hard, I read about a late miscarriage recently too and I think it definitely sent me into a bit of a spin and may have been a subconscious reason for the scan I got yesterday.

Do you know where your placenta is? It could be that it's anterior, which would explain the lack of movement?

Skylark1990 · 23/09/2022 14:38

@MooBugz that's amazingly quick - and yes no wonder you tore! Poor you on that front, but lovely to have a quick labour too I'm sure :)

I'd love to have an easier labour this time. My fingers and toes are very much crossed. Would like to peacefully bob in the birth pool then get out for pushing time and give birth in our lounge, at night, so that when DD wakes up she has a new sibling to snuggle! The dream :) will try to manifest it as much as I can!

STom2 · 23/09/2022 14:56

@Skylark1990 Actually no idea where my placenta is. Checked notes from 12 week scan but doesn't seem to say. I know it can be a few more weeks before I'd feel anything with any sort of regularity but it can be hard not to get in your head at times. Particularly when I've felt the occasional flutter/movement.

That being said, I had this huge pulling sensation yesterday. Only lasted a couple seconds but completely caught me off guard as it hurt a bit and happened when i was actually sat on the couch anyway . I wondered whether it was baby doing some sort of complete somersault and they're a but more tucked in now.

STom2 · 23/09/2022 19:06

Just an update that since posting earlier I've felt a little kick and quite a few flutters. Shouldn't get in my head so much! But needless to say I'll continue to do that until this one is in my arms! 😄

Skylark1990 · 24/09/2022 07:00

That's great @STom2 🙏🥰 my money is on an anterior placenta for you, I had one with DD and it muffles movements quite a lot. But after 20-24 weeks they do get stronger and it'll be different for second time mums too. At the scan on Thurs they said mine is posterior this time and high up so I'm hoping this means I feel movements sooner rather than later 🤞 it's just that reassurance isn't it. She also said if would be good for birth so that's nice to know 🙂

My sickness seems to be very slightly less for the last few days. Still feeling quite nauseous in afternoons and spewing at least once a day around 5/6pm but in general it's a bit more manageable. We go on hol to Spain on Sunday, I'm a bit nervous of flying as I'll only be 11+6. But did any of you fly in first tri? I've read it doesn't really increase risks of miscarriage so just hoping that's true 🙏 v much looking forward to some warm sun and poolside action and the sea x

STom2 · 24/09/2022 07:20

@Skylark1990 I flew 3 times in the first trimester. Once on own with DS when I was only 5 -6 wks. Then again at 10 weeks. Then again at 12 weeks. Did me zero harm. Actually felt this LO move on the flight back at the 12 week mark. First two times my sickness was bad but managed the flights fine thankfully!

ArrrMeHearties · 24/09/2022 08:22

I've just found out I'm pregnant again for the first time after losing my ds at 24wks due to a tmfr a year ago next month. I don't know how to feel. Couple all that happened with ds plus the fact I'm meant to be getting married in March. Wtf do I do about the wedding 🙈😂

MooBugz · 24/09/2022 11:42

@ArrrMeHearties welcome and congrats! Wow sounds like your going to have a busy time ahead 😆 if it's any help I know a friend who got married and wasn't pregnant at the time the wedding was
Planned but it was fine she had extra fittings.

@STom2 glad you've felt some movement since the last post, I'm paranoid now I've not really felt anything for a while now and I'm second guessing constantly and got myself scared for Wednesdays scan now 🙁 I've been washing all my old baby clothes this weekend and my heads all things baby right now so can't escape this horrible feeling that it's going a bit too smoothly that I've allowed myself to think it's ok to start preparing for the little one already 😬

Any tips to get some movement feeling anyone? Trying not to overthink but can't help it

OP posts:
STom2 · 24/09/2022 12:55

@MooBugz Appreciate how nervy it feels at this stage. I've been putting off sorting the baby clothes or doing anything really until after the 21 week scan. To the point where I noticed a stretchmark on my belly this week and was cursing myself as I've really not done anything at all to prepare.

I can't really say what's worked for me at this point as TBH yesterday I was trying all the classic things to get baby movie and nothing was happening. Incidentally when I felt the little kick that I did feel, I was sat on the couch literally spiralling reading threads about late MC. So maybe that was baby's way of giving me a kick and telling me to cop on 😄. But more likely just the fact I was sat for a bit doing nothing (read taking 15 mins or so to do this can help). Appreciate that's tough with little ones to run after!

Skylark1990 · 25/09/2022 08:42

@STom2 thank you that's reassuring!

@MooBugz hope you're ok and you've felt baby since your last post. They're not predictable at all at this stage, I'm sure everything is fine xxx

MooBugz · 25/09/2022 12:08

@STom2 I've not even thought about stretch marks oops but don't think I had any in my last pregnancy so hoping this'll be the same lol I'm too lazy to even go there I'm surprised I'm keeping up with the waxing at this rate haha

@Skylark1990 still the same but trying no to overthink because I don't know when is normal for me as usually I go with the flow only this time I overthink everything naturally but will be fine after Wednesday I hope 😬

Hey @MooBugz i am with you at the moment - felt a good few flutters/bubbles later on this week but nothing since the weekend started.

I’m just trying to tell myself that baby has moved positions so I can’t feel them. Also I have an anterior placenta so that will be contributing.

I know it’s hard though - I’m holding out for Friday 4pm, hoping everything will be okay x

STom2 · 25/09/2022 16:30

@moobugz I had no belly stretchmarks with DS but maybe more so as I applied cream most days from about 12 weeks. But equally I've heard it can be more down to genetics and can't be stopped no matter what you try.

I spent the morning in A&E. Not for me or this LO. I witnessed my DS take a tumble down full slight of stairs. Needless to say one of most terrifying moments I've ever had. Very luckily he's pretty much unscathed (someone must be looking out for him), other than a bruise on his head. I on the other hand shall be traumatised for the foreseeable!!

Rubes1234 · 25/09/2022 18:10

Hi everyone! I’ve been Missing in action again!!

Congratulations @Skylark1990 on your positive scan! So happy for you and your family!

my nerves have totally gone. I’ve been in hospital since last Tuesday day. Had awful stomach pains and couldn’t walk. Came into the admissions at the maternity department and they initially thought appendicitis! 😓 Since then I’ve had an MRI (which I was unhappy about and still nervous about having) and they found my fibroid that was found after the miscarriage has doubled in size (now 10cm) and become slightly twisted. I’ve been on IV antibiotics and IV pain relief to try and get it sorted. It seems to be working but I’m just struggling with all the guilt of what it could be doing to the baby. They haven’t been able to get the heartbeat on the Doppler but they have scanned me and all was fine but not since the MRI.

It was horrible being here yesterday in the same place exact to the year where we found out the bad news about the last pregnancy. Just can not get out of my head at all and just crying all the time. It’s good that my partner can be here as he reassures me but we all know how long that lasts Hoping they can scan me before bed tonight so I can at least get some sleep but also worried sick!!

Sorry for the long post! I also haven’t felt much but I do have anterior placenta so they keep telling me it’s normal but also keep trying to see with Doppler which is setting my anxiety off.

oh it’s been a week ladies!!

Hope everyone is doing ok! X

MooBugz · 25/09/2022 20:27

@RedElleJ were both wishing our week away to next week then 😬 fingers crossed all will be fine but it just shows how you can be totally fine one minute and a mess the next right??

@STom2 I thought I had escaped stretch marks with my first and I had religiously used bio oil at the time only to find when I went for a bra fitting after birth that I had them on my under boobs! I was so shocked because I didn't even notice it before that lol
But second time round didn't bother with any oils etc and I was fine then and the time Ayer so hoping it's same this time although bodies been through so much I just see it all as a battle scar now 💪 my C-section scar I've never been able to look at but my Little lady came up and touched it the other day while I was getting changed which I found cute.

@Rubes1234 oh no so sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it and I hope you do get a scan or reassurance of some type before you go to sleep tonight. Can totally understand why your anxiety would be in overdrive right now, sending love 💕

Just an update as I woke up for my routine nightly pee I got myself really worked up for Wednesday. I was ticked up on my side and then started feeling bubbles/flutters like a good few that could not be mistaken! The relief..I can't even Breton to describe.

Hope everyone gets through this week ok what a bag of nerves!! 🌈
