@Rubes1234 you poor thing, I hope you're okay and managed to get a scan today if not last night. I hope the pain is subsiding for you too. Are they going to try and remove it or just treat the pain etc?

I have just come back from my 20 week scan. All was good. Need to go back in the next few weeks as it was face down ass up so couldn't get the face or heart stuff she needed to! Of course as soon as we gave up, I was sat in the waiting room feeling it have a good wriggle 🙄
Glad it finally arrived though, the last 8 weeks have dragged so much in anticipation of this milestone.

To all the others waiting, it will be here before you know it...

Right I'm off to I'm off to Google all the acronyms in the report she has given me...I mean get back to work...

OceanbreezeSun · 26/09/2022 11:17

@Rubes1234
Gosh, what a week for for you, it’s positive they saw baby on the scan but totally understand the anxiety and stress you must feel. I hope you can get another scan or Doppler for that reassurance.

@MooBugz ahh glad you felt the movement ❤️ What a relief you must feel!
Not long now for the scan!

I have a posterior placenta (found that out in my 20 week scan!) so I feel ds kicking and moving quite a lot, mainly when I’m lying down. He’s active late at night and in the early hours, when I get up for my 2nd wee of the night!

@Skylark1990 thanks for the mini pep talk about the induction - yes our labours sound very similar. With dd, I was 40+ 5 weeks so I felt ready for dd to make her entrance into the world! Especially after my waters were breaking. I wasn’t too worried about the induction at the time but it definitely set off a chain of events for us.
I am adamant this time, I will refuse one unless ds is showing signs of distress.
I did a great hypnobirthing workshop
when I was expecting dd. It really helped me during those first 18 hours, I feel it helped me stay calm too.

RedElleJ · 26/09/2022 11:25

Morning all,

Sorry to hear @Rubes1234 - do you think you will get to go home soon? I can understand why you are feeling so anxious and guilty but you are certainly in the right place to be given everything you need before leaving and making sure everything is okay. I hope you are on the mend and start feeling much better soon.

Awww, that's brilliant @MooBugz. I am still waiting...I think I may have had a bubble or two this morning but I just can't be certain. Almost booked a private scan as I was getting worried but they have nothing until Friday. Then I thought about calling the midwife team but I doubt they will listen for the heartbeat this week when I have a scan on Friday. I think if everything is okay on Friday (which I don't know why but I am very worried something isn't going to be) then I will ask my midwife if I can have regular listen-ins to help with my anxiety combined with the anterior placenta...I wonder if they will agree.

My anxiety seems to be around not feeling the bubbles/flutters as much anymore and reduced symptoms - I basically have none. Normally I get really nauseous in the morning if I leave it too long before I eat but I was fine today and just got a normal hungry feeling in my stomach. Anyone had an anterior placenta before and have any advice on coping with the anxiety of it all?

MooBugz · 26/09/2022 13:41

Thank you all ♥️

@RedElleJ I don't know what kind of placenta placement I have but I've never looked for symptoms in previous pregnancies so this could all be normal. With lack of symptoms I would say try not to dwell on that too much because usually second trimester is when the glow up comes in with symptoms easing off, I know that my nausea's pretty much gone now if that helps any

OP posts:
STom2 · 26/09/2022 15:41

@RedElleJ I've no symptoms so I wouldn't worry. That's more normal at this stage.

I'd an appointment with antenatal clinic earlier so while there they said they'd check heartbeat. Annoyingly she said she could find it (and feel baby move), but it was very muffled due to position. So I didn't hear anything. My scan is next week so just have to hold out until then. At least she said she picked up something anyway.

madeinthe80z · 26/09/2022 16:28

Maternity clothes recommendations anyone?? I've been looking for about an hour or so this afternoon, they all seem to be stupidly impractical and fashionable or like summer clothes...I just wanna be warm and comfy!! I've seen a few things on George and Sainsburys but no luck with Boohoo, New Look, h&m, M&S, Shein, Dorothy Perkins...

I got a load off Vinted! Got enough to do the whole pregnancy second hand for about £50 quid and it's all in really good condition! Deffo have a look on there if you don't want to spend loads on clothes only for a few months

doingitalllagain · 27/09/2022 08:58

20 week scan at 9am, sat nervously in the waiting room. Didn't manage to sort an early drop off for school so I've had to go alone so my husband can look after our son. Bit shit really, hate doing these alone.

Hope everyone is doing ok!

STom2 · 27/09/2022 09:20

Best of luck @doingitalllagain! Let us know how you get on. x

Skylark1990 · 27/09/2022 09:42

Hey guys.

@Rubes1234 so sorry to hear what you've been through, that sounds so stressful! How are you going now? I hope you are feeling better and baby all ok and you can go home soon ❤️

@MooBugz great news about the flutters!

@RedElleJ as others have said don't worry about lack of nausea. Totally normal (and good - makes it easier haha) to have no symptoms like that now, second trimester between 12-20 weeks is when the placenta fully takes over. My nausea stopped completely with DD at 16 weeks. Also re anterior placenta I had this with DD. I felt the first tiny thuds at 18 weeks just once, but nothing much after that until after 20 weeks. The movements definitely get stronger as baby gets bigger and by 24 weeks or so you will be feeling baby daily probably a few times a day, and you'll start to notice a pattern most prob. The anterior placenta dulls the movements early on and does make them slightly less intense later on but it doesn't stop them fully once baby is big enough.

So my own slight anxiety ATM is that I'm now 12 weeks, and yesterday was the first day I didn't spew for over 4 weeks straight. Which was amazing, ofc, but slightly worried the symptoms are lessening this early as with DD it was 16 weeks! And weeks 11-13 were my worst for sickness. This time the worst were 9-10 weeks. I still felt nauseous at times yesterday and a bit icky and over the last few days I've felt the nausea kinda lessening gradually, so hoping because the change isn't sudden it's ok and probably just because finally the placenta is starting to kick in? It's just weird to not be overcome to the point of vomiting as this has been my life a few times a day for so long now!

Skylark1990 · 27/09/2022 09:44

I should add we are on holiday and swimming in the sea and pool, lying in the sun and generally having less stress probably helps too with the pregnancy sickness!

doingitalllagain · 27/09/2022 10:38

20 week scan was fine, no concerns and most definitely a boy Grin

@Skylark1990 I got married at 11 weeks pregnant and was on honeymoon from the day after that for 10 days. I was sick multiple times every single day but I wasn't sick at all on my wedding day, was sick twice the entire 10 days I was on honeymoon and then when I got home I was sick daily again for about 3 weeks! I don't know whether my body somehow just powered through for me and then it hit me when I got back to reality or if I was just distracted. I'm 20 weeks now and all is fine! So try not to worry!

WonderWoop · 27/09/2022 10:52

@doingitalllagain doing that alone is really tough. But you must be very relieved! Huge milestone ❤️

STom2 · 27/09/2022 11:16

@Skylark1990 With DS my nausea was definitely gone by time I went for 12 week scan. I had nothing after this point other than a bad headache around 13weeks. I wouldn't worry in the slightest about the change at this stage. What day is your 12 week scan?

@doingitalllagain Fantastic news on the scan! I'm doing mine alone next week aslo so can appreciate how nerve wrecking it will have been for you.

On those with anterior placenta- I reckon I'm the same but need to confirm. Was anterior with DS and I think anterior seems to be the case more often than not it seems!

Ithurtbad · 27/09/2022 12:20

Anyone felt movement and little kicks but not much at the moment.

I can't remember which is not normal..

Due 21st Feb

MooBugz · 27/09/2022 16:33

@doingitalllagain well done girl on the solo scan I'll be in the same boat tomorrow as not managed to get childcare arrangement in for my daughter. Feeling quite nervous but these are things we have to do sometimes isn't it! And you've reassured me so you can be my inspo tomorrow when I'm waiting 🥰

OP posts:
Skylark1990 · 27/09/2022 17:46

Thank you guys that's reassuring about the sickness @STom2 @doingitalllagain

So now we are in a v shitty situation! My FIL who is on holiday with us has covid! Argh! I've been so worried and upset all day completely petrified of history repeating itself as you might remember the last loss was right after covid 😩😩 I had a meltdown and I still feel close to tears but spoke with DH and going to try hardest not to worry too much. I'm obviously much further along than I was last time and this baby has felt very sticky with all the sickness etc so I just need to try to stay positive and trust even if we catch it, baby will be ok 🙏😟

He's basically just in his room and we will try to socially distance, but I have a cough already so a bit worried have caught it.

I know how you felt when everyone got it at your house @MooBugz 😩

MooBugz · 27/09/2022 18:31

Oh no @Skylark1990 I wholeheartedly empathise with you having been there in exactly the same kind of situation except the whole family had it and luckily I did manage to escape it that second time.

I was a crying mess the whole time though so don't blame you feeling that way, it's hard but I guess nothing you can do if you've all been together just have to hope you haven't got it or that it won't affect you.

Sending you all my positive vibes lady try to stay positive and remember how far you've come and how strong that body of yours is ♥️

Well done on going solo to the 29 wk scan @doingitalllagain ! So glad a d everything is fine with baba- did the sonographer tell you the gender or did you see 'conformation ' for yourself?!

STom2 · 27/09/2022 21:07

@Skylark1990 I had Covid for the first time when 8 weeks with this one. No impact to baby. The worst of it was I had covid on top of the morning sickness vomiting. Just take it easy and if you have it you'll just ride it out. LO will be fine. I've 2 close friends who also had covid in their first trimester. One had her healthy baby last month and the other is due this month. Covid didn't impact their pregnancy either.

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 07:50

@STom2 thank you for the reassurance, it really does help hearing if others who had it early on and it was ok.

I had a cough last night but we all seem fine today so hoping we haven't got it... Time will tell!

In other news we are trying to potty train DD, she's just turned 2. Any tips?? Haha she absolutely didn't get it yesterday (first day of doing it)

STom2 · 28/09/2022 08:47

@Skylark1990 No tips on the potty training. Started with DS (will be 2 in Nov). He'll happily sit on it etc. But he's more enthusiastic about running naked around the house at every opportunity. But I really need to get it nailed before the new year.

Gamergirl84 · 28/09/2022 08:47

@Skylark1990 I've read a out the three day method for potty training- we're planning to fo this with DS around Christmas when hubster is home for a bit to help. DS will be 2 and 2 mknths by then. I don't thi k he's quite ready yet as he can't communicate effectively when he needs to go but he is hiding away when he wants to do a poo so that's a good sign he's nearly ready.

We're getting two potties (one upstairs and one downstairs) and a seat for the loo. We also have a couple of books.

I'm really keen to have him dry by the time baby gets here but I k ow that a new arrival can trigger a regression so I'm sort of in two minds.

How is it going so far? What signs did your DD show?
