Morning all,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas 🎄

Just back from my growth scan - the sonographer seemed happy that baby was normal. Although I have just looked at the notes and babies AC is 88th percentile which a quick search showed that it could be a risk factor for developing diabetes, having a bigger baby, having a c-section and some other things. I reckon I will just do my best to be a bit more health conscious but the sonographer didn’t mention anything so just being cautious.

They also checked my placenta, which has now moved well out of the way now so that’s good.

Hope everyone is well? X

drV · 27/12/2022 12:21

@RedElleJ that's really a good news! Hope you will be able to relax a bit more now...

I have a growth scan tomorrow morning and an antenatal clinic with the consultant day after.. waiting to see my baby tomorrow🥰

Meanwhile, down with a terrible cold and sore throat🤦🏻‍♀️ nothing but paracetamol is allowed, but it is of no use almost.. just waiting for the cold to go away on its own!

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

Gamergirl84 · 27/12/2022 18:33

@RedElleJ I wouldn't worry too much, if they had concerns they would have raised them. Seems like a healthy baba!

Gooduck tomorrow @drV hope baby cooperates and you get to see a little face.

I had my growth scan just before Christmas on the 23rd, despite my fundal measurements being literally off the chart baby is only 49th percentile. So that's just my tum full of cake then 😄

Feeling huge and immobile atm. My spd has ramped up and a simple boxing day walk put me on the sofa for two full days. I have another scan at 36 weeks and will book my section for then. I expect it to be Monday 13th .... I can't wait to meet little one!!

Hope everyone had a relaxing Christmas and didn't miss the Baileys too much lol

madeinthe80z · 27/12/2022 20:37

Hi all, hope you've had a lovely christmas!
I have been struck with covid 😥 currently coughing my brains out and struggling with my pelvic floor 🤣
I am due to have a growth scan tomorrow, there was a slight decrease in my growth chart last time so they rescheduled for 2 weeks instead of 3, but I doubt they will see me now...

drV · 28/12/2022 16:19

@madeinthe80z oh that's horrible😵‍💫 hope it gets better soon! Take care xx

Had the scan today and saw that lil face🥰 growth seems to be ok; she is weighing 4lb 4oz which is sufficient to the gestational age but there's a fall in the fetal weight centile.. from 90 to 75 which is definitely worrying😟 have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow... Let's see what she says!

OceanbreezeSun · 28/12/2022 17:22

Hi everyone.
I hope you are all ok & enjoying any time off over the holidays.
@madeinthe80z I hope the cough eases off for you, not a good combo is it, being pregnant and having a bad cough.
Wewere also struck down with what I thought was a cold, but turned out to be covid! I should of suspected when everything started to smell/taste like vinegar!
luckily , it wasn’t too bad, & dd was much better by Xmas eve.

Update on the growth scan last week - excess fluid still there, but baby growing as expected - weighing approx 6 lbs 4oz , so rather big, on the 95 percentile. I’m 35 weeks so they are just going to keep an eye out on things, another scan next week.
Consultant has recommended I get induced at 39 weeks. Spoke with my mw about it today ( I wanted to avoid being induced if poss but I’m coming round to the idea)
MW said it is still possible to have a water birth even with induction, depending on certain factors, so I do feel more reassured.

@drV I hope the consultation goes well tomorrow and you get some positive answers.

madeinthe80z · 29/12/2022 05:21

@drV hope you get some good reassurance from the consultant tomorrow 🫰

These babies and their growth scans!! Cheeky monkeys they are. I ended up being sent to triage after my scan last night because growth had slowed for 3rd consecutive time (now 3rd centile) so I got hooked up to a monitor and saw the doctor. They've basically said that if it stays below the 3rd, they're going to want to evict baby at 37 weeks, between 3rd and 10th, it will be 39 weeks. I'm like you @OceanbreezeSun I really don't wanna be induced so I'm hoping the next scan will magically jump back above the 10th!! I am.no also panicking about mat leave. I have genuinely done NOTHING to prepare for this baby yet and I am only due to finish at 37 weeks! Thankfully there's loads of stuff in the loft but it all needs sorting and cleaning....and the work to my house isnt finished so i cant get it out as i have nowhere to put it ....and we all have bloody covid aaargh! Deep breaths.

drV · 29/12/2022 12:09

Honestly these growth scans are so stressful.. cheeky lil monkeys for sure😅

Today all the baby furniture has been delivered and it's a roomful! I am only wondering how such tiny babies need so many things 😵‍💫

Nesting has hit me hard and I can sense myself developing an OCD over every lil thing which is only causing more stress and anxiety🤦🏻‍♀️

I have started packing my hospital bag today.. things other than clothes for now; as I need to wash the clothes yet.. somehow I have a gut feeling that she will come early.. my one BIG worry is what if it goes to emergency CS.. I am on aspirin and can't imagine how much I would bleed🥺

Anxiety and worry never ends, does it?

ChangeHtotheP · 29/12/2022 15:48

I thought the start of the pregnancy was stressful after experiencing loss but I’m starting to think the end is even more stressful @madeinthe80z. it’s crazy how much there is to do and not being able to control things whilst having to prepare is so hard. Fingers crossed they’ll be on the 10th percentile at the next scan. 🤞🏼

I’ve had a message to say the pram and car seat have arrived in store and our furniture is arriving next week. It’s all starting to feel very real now. We’ve put flooring down and painted the walls in the nursery, just waiting for other bits to arrive now to finish it. I’ve also allowed myself to start buying clothes for her, not just things for the hospital bag. Dresses, blankets and baby grows keep arriving at the house every 5 minutes. 😂😂 Online shopping is so handy for sales. 😄

I completely understand your worry @drV, I’m on aspirin and fragmin and keep asking at the hospital how it will impact the birth. No one seems to answer, which just makes me worry more. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have to trust they’ve done it thousands of times before and will have a plan.

MooBugz · 29/12/2022 17:00

Hi all and sorry to hear all the downs your going through 😬

@drv @madeinthe80z it's good that you are having the extra scans rather that than be completely blindsided with a last minute delivery date! I would suggest making a list and start packing the hospital bag in advance so it can put you at ease that your prepared in case baby needs out early.

Like many of you our household has been struck with the dreaded cough and my bones were sooo sore yday I took three covid tests just to rule it out because I felt so awful. I did go to Tesco today and found majority of shoppers were coughing their guts up! So definitely is the season for it..

I've just got two weeks of work ahead then that's me finishing up on 23th and I'll get my hospital bag packed then.

We're so close to the end now I feel like time is truly running away I need it slow down a little! In other news since I started on the peppermint rennies food and taste has been so much more bearable so pleased about that.

Sending you all best wishes it's a crazy but excited time just take things a step at a time, we had a hard journey getting this far so take some time and be kind to yourself it's all going to be ok ❤️

drV · 29/12/2022 23:08

So the update on my situation.. Had the antenatal clinic today... Didn't get much out of it except the fact that they are now scanning me every two weeks instead of four. I will be back at 34 weeks for another scan.. they said they would decide on delivery date based on that scan... If the growth keeps falling, they would deliver the baby as soon as it is safe to.. otherwise they would do it only at week 39 😬 so potentially it's 7 weeks more to go for me...

Yes, truly the season of cold and cough is upon us.. we had family visiting us for the Christmas, the cycle started from the older kid catching cold from a friend before they came... And he gave it to all of us😂 I still have a horrid sore throat!

STom2 · 30/12/2022 16:23

Really getting to the final stretch now aren't we! My C Section date has been booked in since November for the first week of February. I can categorically say I've done nothing to prepare yet. Once Christmas and New year is done I'll get more organised from next week. We still have all the kit and clothes from DS (2), so have just ordered a second car seat and I picked up some new onesies on Vinted.

I'm not too bad symptom-wise but the reflux that had subsided for weeks seems to be back with a bang. Awful at night. Keep waking myself up when acid comes up from my tummy. Rennies just not doing it anymore. Nor is leaving hours between eating and bedtime!

MooBugz · 30/12/2022 17:34

@STom2 that's my plan too wait till new year is over then get to it.
How do you feel about it? I had a growth scan today and baby has moved from 11th to 17th percentile which consultant seemed happy with as long as it doesn't cross any of the other lines on the chart they said it's fine. Got my next booked in for 3 weeks time. That's a shame about the rennies not working for you they have been a lifesaver these past few weeks for me!

Decided to go with VBAC so hopefully it goes to plan but I still have time to change my kind. I hand a male consultant today which didn't fill me with confidence as his answers were all "every body is different" to any questions I had when deciding what delivery route to go with.

OP posts:
STom2 · 30/12/2022 18:18

@moobugz I don't have a growth scan until 36 weeks (this is a standard one with my trust). But the elective section was always going to be the most likely route as this LO has parked in exact same oblique breach position as my DS did. Definitely must be more comfy on one side of my uterus! I'm happy with the elective section. Appreciate recovery will be different second time around but I'm a planner and like this element. We've no family nearby so this way my DM can come stay with us and be here with DS when I go in. And I've more of an idea what to expect.

That's rubbish that the male consultant didn't fill you with a lot of confidence. I appreciate they've to cover all bases but would it hurt to at least give some definitive reassuring answers?

WonderWoop · 30/12/2022 21:16

Hey all, just catching up on the thread and glad to hear everyone is still here and doing okay! I hit 32w this week and had a growth scan which was fine. Baby already almost 4.5lb eek

Am planning elcs at 39w all going well, following EMCS last time after a super long 3 day failed labour. I too like the idea of knowing when this one is coming because we have no family in the UK so have to rope friends in to help.

I have consultant appt next week and am hoping we can book the section in and have a date then as I keep getting given vbac leaflets so until the date is booked I'm nervous!

Haven't organised anything but next week we have to get the snuzpod and car seat out of the loft, I really don't want the baby to come early and get caught out. 3 year old DD is super excited and keeps asking when she can meet her brother ❤️

drV · 01/01/2023 09:56

Happy new year everyone 🎉 also it's the month where we all can say 'oh I am due next month' 😁

The last few weeks, we all can do this💪🏻

ChangeHtotheP · 01/01/2023 12:06

That was the first thing my husband said to me as the clock struck midnight @drV! we always had Christmas and new year in our heads as a massive milestone so now we’ve passed them the next big thing is her being here. ‘Next month’ sounds like no time at all!

Hope everyone had a lovely NYE. Ours included a diabetic friendly home cooked meal and a wine glass filled with lemonade, rock and roll. 😂😂

drV · 01/01/2023 16:43

@ChangeHtotheP oh bless you! I was about to ask how are you managing the GD... We had a nice party at our neighbour's..

I am actually struggling with fatigue, which has gotten worse since last 2-3 days.. finding it difficult even to cook😵‍💫 how's everyone else doing?

STom2 · 01/01/2023 19:52

@drV Absolutely struggling with the fatigue here too. And, dare I say it, my 2 year old DS has been sleeping like a dream over the festive period so I've been having great nights of sleep (including lovely long lie ins when DH and I alternate). But even a gentle walk in the park today and I was put of breath, my hips hurt, and I just felt wrecked after it!!

drV · 01/01/2023 20:07

@STom2 long sleep sounds good! And I can't even imagine how difficult second/subsequent pregnancies are.. with another child to care for.. you are doing great 🙌🏻

My sleep is ok actually.. I am still managing to get 6-7 hours of nice sleep most of the nights.. but this fatigue is killing me🤦🏻‍♀️ feels like I am back in the first trimester..😂 nothing fits me anymore, wearing husband's shirts now!

on the brighter side, my mum is arriving in the UK in two days! I don't even have words to say how relieved I feel when I think it's just two days... Most of the things will be taken care of once she is here..

Rubes1234 · 02/01/2023 00:47

Hey all! Just wanted to Bob on and update you all and wish everyone a Happy new year!

I got out of hospital in the end and no steroids administered for the baby as they have no idea where the bleed came from or why and I didn’t bleed again for the 5 days they kept me 😅
Baby girl seemed happy enough and they were happy to discharge me.

Had a consultant appointment and they’ve decided it’s not placenta previa. Did an internal scan for a closer look and it all looked good. More than 5cm away so just feel like I’ve stressed for nothing.

I have a growth scan on Wednesday for 34 weeks and ive now finished work. I took a months holiday before maternity, so glad they let me take it. I was starting to become very cranky at the end of the work day 😂

Is anyone else really starting to feel like it’s becoming real?? I still think I’m in absolute denial that we’re having a baby!

Does anyone have the due date list saved? Just so we know when everyone’s coming to the end, if not I’ll go back and find it! X

Gamergirl84 · 03/01/2023 18:24

@drV and @STom2 the fatigue has hit me hard today... so out of the blue. Can barely keep my eyes open.

I'mplanning a 39 wk section (sorry, can't remember who asked) but am really keen to BF so have decided to try and gather colostrum a few days before without brining on labour 🙈

@drV so glad you have help arriving soon! My mother doesn't get back from Australia until the 12th January and im pretty much housebound till then 🙃

doingitalllagain · 03/01/2023 18:27

Well after the threatened pre term labour at 29 weeks my waters broke today at 34+1! In hospital for the night with a plan to scan first thing and decide what to do after that. No idea what to expect! This baby is putting me through it! Blush

@drV @Gamergirl84 there's no comfort like having your mum around when your going through a vulnerable time after giving birth. I'm lucky my husband is quite good too he really stepped up after my last birth so hoping this time will be just as smooth because of the help!

@doingitalllagain eeek how real is that! Fingers toes and everything crossed for you and I'm pleased baby hung in there for the last few weeks. Hope everything goes well in the morning looks like baby is in a rush to meet mama 🙈

I'm getting my hospital bag list ready this week with the intention to pack next week which is also when I finish up for mat leave. I usually overpack so going to try keep it lighter this time. That's the idea anyway 😆
