I am 31 weeks tomorrow and I have just realised it's only 6-7 weeks more now! my baby is measuring at 90th centile and due to other couple of issues, it's definitely a C section for me, most probably at 37 weeks.. we will get an official date on 29/12🙈

I feel huge and the waddle is here 😅 it's impossible to get comfortable in bed and i am waking up couple of times a night now... It's the last stretch, we all can do this 💪🏻

MooBugz · 17/12/2022 13:27

@drV ditto on the peeing several times a night but there was one evening I slept through I couldn't believe it my body didn't know what happened it was so well rested that next morning!

@Skylark1990 hey sis good to hear about the developments since your last post, I actually don't know at what point you stop thinking miscarriage and start thinking about birth and planning for the real deal but it's happened and a lot of us are through the worst of it mentally. To think those first few months especially were so dark weren't they just waiting for something to go wrong and not quite believing.

Sending festive cheer and pos vibes to you all ❤️

Hey everyone, hope all well. Sending best wishes. I hit 31w tomorrow so only 8w to go to ECS and 6 weeks of work. So close yet so far! The peeing 5x night is a killer!

drV · 19/12/2022 16:03

I have just noticed and also was told by a couple of friends that by belly looks like it has dropped compared to what it was few weeks ago... Has this happened to anyone else?! Is 31+1 too early for that? 😳

Skylark1990 · 19/12/2022 20:10

Thank you @drV and @MooBugz 😘😘😘

@drV I think they can start to engage around this time but doesn't mean baby will come super soon! I remember getting excited coz DD was engaged at my 36 week appointment, but I still didn't go into labour till 41+2 😂

doingitalllagain · 19/12/2022 21:41

We're getting closer guys! I'm sad because I had my birth choice's appointment today and I'm having a caesarean at 39 weeks, then they said they only do non emergencies on Fridays, so I'll actually be 39+6. After my miscarriage at 17 weeks earlier in the year I was only not pregnant for 6 weeks and now I've been pregnant for 32 weeks and I'm just so done - I've been Pregnant for a year basically between the two. The thought of 39+5 feels a lifetime away.

My son came at 37+5 so hoping this one does too, especially now I've had the steroids 😂

doingitalllagain · 19/12/2022 22:16

Everyone ready for Christmas? Xmas Grin

I've got so much to do beforehand it's killing me! We've started the nursery but it's now a bit of a building site, that's been the room we dump all our crap in since we moved in here last year too so all the stuff that was in there has taken over the landing and the spare room and all needs sorting out/selling/taking to the tip. Got 5 bin bags of clothes recycling from the 3 of us! Need all the nursery furniture from my son for the baby, so he has picked his 'big boy bedroom' as he calls it stuff from IKEA so got flat pack everywhere. It's like a bomb has gone off! I spent 3 hours after work today sorting it and felt like I got rid of loads and tidied away loads but it doesn't look any different. We've got so many people staying over Christmas we need every room spare and I've still got 3 days left at work this week. Argh!! And that's without factoring in how I'm too bloody pregnant to be doing all of this!

drV · 20/12/2022 11:07

@Skylark1990 wow that's a good 5 week stretch 😂 I really hope it's 5 weeks for me too.. as @doingitalllagain says, I so already want this baby born safely ! And weeks feel like months.. my darling girl still doesn't have a pattern of movement.. just moves whenever she pleases.. one day like a ninja and the next day almost nothing.. it is driving me crazy! I am literally planning to live in the hospital so that whenever she has a lazy day, I can strap on the ctg 😅

ChangeHtotheP · 20/12/2022 13:51

@doingitalllagain Was your appointment with a midwife or doctor? I now have two consultants and a midwife that I have to see and no one seems to want to discuss birth choices with me. I know I’ll have to be induced and would like an idea of when but not sure who makes the final decision. I ask at most appointments but no one seems to want to commit to anything. I’m probably being really impatient. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We've started doing the nursery as I had a panic we had the big things on order but nothing else was ready apart from the bits for the hospital bag. It feels weird to be planning a room for someone who isn’t here yet and we don’t know her personality but exciting at the same time. I can’t believe we’ve made it this far, still blows my mind.

As far as Christmas goes we’re postponing it until after she’s here. With the diabetes I can’t eat anything yummy and Christmas dinner is my favourite meal of the year so we’ll do a little something on Christmas Day and then have a proper day of being stuffed in March. 😄

@drV The movements are such a worry aren’t they? I’m lucky that I have noticed a pattern and I can get her to move by doing certain things but I still panic if I’ve not felt her for a couple of hours (I probably have but just haven’t noticed as I’m so used to it now).

Although I’ve not enjoyed pregnancy one bit I do wonder whether I’ll miss the bump when it’s over. It’s like having a friend with you all of the time. I was sat on the sofa this morning chatting away to her and playing songs which I know she moves to. If anyone saw me they’d think I was crazy. 😂

MooBugz · 20/12/2022 14:45

@drV I'm the same with no movement pattern really but I do get movements regularly most days. First time with a anterior placenta and defo feel the difference esp with people feeling on the outside it's not as apparent as it has been in previous pregnancies.

@ChangeHtotheP I can understand wanting a date but it might just be too soon for them to commit to anything. I feel all up in the air with dates too but for now have accepted birth plan is not an option until we know what the next two growth scans show 🙈

After a dragging start to pregnancy I can see the end is going to be here before I'm ready! With Christmas period and new year then it'll be May leave and getting my hospital bag ready. Next thing I know baby will be here! I've taken hardly any pics too so hoping I'll get some in the next few weeks as it's my last planned pregnancy! I'll regret it so need to make time for myself!

Hope you are all doing we and have a nice Christmas and new year when it comes ❤️

drV · 20/12/2022 15:40

@ChangeHtotheP i will definitely miss the bump too! Love talking to her and getting a kick or two in response🥰

ChangeHtotheP · 20/12/2022 16:30

We’ve said the same thing this morning about pictures @MooBugz. I feel like I look like that evil character from sonic the hedgehog (Dr Egg or something) where he’s just legs and then a massive circle shape so have avoided pictures where possible but do wonder whether I’ll regret not having any. Might try to get some over Christmas.

Gamergirl84 · 20/12/2022 17:45

Oh I'll definitely miss my bump! As annoying as it is to waddle about with I quite like the shape it gives me? Is that weird? I know I'll just a deflated pudge after and I'm not looking forward to that 😆

@drV I have t noticed a pattern either besides baba always moves a round 9pm when I go to bed. I got very anxious with my ds toward the end and can't help but feel ill be the same.

@doingitalllagain my hospital also have specific days for planned sections, Mondays and Fridays so I'm hoping for 39 + 2 but like you I'd rather get a date during week 38. Baby is looking big, I'm over the spd making every little movement hard and just want baby out.

Nursery wise- we have to paint but most of thr furniture is in and bags of stuff from ds which I need to go through. Tbh I'm not planning on getting it done until after baby is here, ds was in our room for rhe forst 5 months so I don't feel there's any rush.

We got our new pram though! Exciting! I went for the Mountain Buggy duet which is a sode by side with parent facing options. Can't wait to try it out 😁

MooBugz · 20/12/2022 18:28

Haha @ChangeHtotheP that reminds me of a meme I saw on instagram earlier about pregnancy shapes 🙈

I've not taken many pics mostly because of time and also I haven't been looking my best most of the time so when I do look half decent I've been trying to remember to get a picture in! I'll be getting some over the Christmas period now that I'll have some more time to look presentable and not rush to work/school run everyday until new year!

drV · 21/12/2022 07:44

What I love the most is the 'good morning mummy' kicks she gives every morning, as soon as I wake up 🥰 oh I so can't wait to meet my mini me! I have 60 days to go for my due date, quite a milestone!

We have just designated a room as nursery.. Haven't yet got any work done with it as we know the baby will be with us in our room for the first few months.. baby's furniture and car seat will be delivered next week, so exciting 😁

Skylark1990 · 21/12/2022 10:12

@ChangeHtotheP totally get that feeling of always having a little friend with us 🥰 it's funny as we aren't ever really alone! But that'll be the same anyway for a while, once baby is here 😂 just a clingy little barnacle outside of our bodies not inside.

I'm so excited for you all that the birth is just around the corner! I feel like April is close too, as I'll go on mat leave end Feb / early march. So hoping the first two months of the year fly by!

RedElleJ · 21/12/2022 14:03

Hey everyone,

just wanted to ask if anyone has had a growth scan before and what I should expect?

they aren’t routine in my area - I have been referred due to static growth according to my fundal height (no change is measurement between my last two appointments). They did say it could be human error and that is what I am hoping as I’ve never seen the same midwife.

naturally, I am slightly worried but they are hoping to get me in, at the latest, early next week. So fingers crossed everything is checked sooner rather than later…hate the idea of it lingering over Christmas though.

ChangeHtotheP · 21/12/2022 14:29

@RedElleJ I had a fundal measurement which was showing baby as being really big. We had a growth scan (we have them every two weeks because of the gestational diabetes) and she is measuring bang on track, no where near where they plotted her after the fundal measurement. I’ve since read some trusts don’t do them as they are so unreliable. The growth scan itself is the same as a normal scan, they just take lots of measurements and towards the end start to check blood flow through the placenta. Baby doesn’t like that bit and kicks a lot, the sonographer explained this was because the intensity of the waves (not sure what they called them) is higher at that point. She gives us reassurance during the appointment about measurements etc so we just see it as an extra chance to see the baby. 😄

@drV Our baby will be in our room for the first 6 months but I feel like I need the nursery ready as her things will be taking over the house soon. For a tiny human they have a lot of stuff!! I want to try and be organised to minimise my stress levels as I’ve no clue what I’m doing as a first time mum. That’s my plan anyway. 😂

@Skylark1990 The next few months will fly by. I never thought I’d make it to this point and surprised at how quickly the days are counting down now!

Littlefire · 21/12/2022 14:46

@RedElleJ fundal height measurements are very very unreliable, especially when done by a different midwife each time. I know impossible not to worry but pease don't worry too much. Sometimes bumps seem smaller once baby has dropped so that could also be a thing. Growth scans are also quite unreliable unless done regularly and by the same person so eg a one off should be taken with a grain of salt. They can be out by up to 20%. It's interesting because you said baby was measuring big a while ago so they made you do the gtt? Just shows how weirdly innacurate they are sometimes I think... Hopefully all is well, I'm sure it will be. Just remember that sometimes these sorts of tests bring more anxiety than we need but you always have options, whatever the outcome!

Skylark1990 · 21/12/2022 14:47

Sorry that last post was from me! Diff username

MooBugz · 21/12/2022 16:23

@RedElleJ I'm getting growth scans two weekly now and my last was last week. The scan itself is just like a normal scan, absolutely nothing to worry about just look at it as another chance to see your little rainbow!

The scan is slightly longer than the standard scans as they check all the bits and bins of the baby and measurements. Try not to get yourself worked up about the measurements as the others have said and also it's likely to be human error where a midwife has plotted the info wrongly.

Hope that reassures you a little, and it also means there is extra security of knowing it means extra checks for your baby's cooking 😊

RedElleJ · 21/12/2022 18:11

Thanks for the advice/reassurance ladies.

Yeah @Skylark1990 my bump measured over 97th percentile at my last midwife appointment so I was referred for a GTT.

It is interesting to hear that some trusts don't do fundal height @ChangeHtotheP - I keep thinking if I was in a different trust I wouldn't have any of these anxieties creeping in as I just wouldn't know.

I'll keep you all posted - hopefully, I will get in tomorrow or Friday. For now though, I can still feel her wriggling away and that's obviously the main thing. Really hope all the extra checks show that she is cooking along nicely @MooBugz I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety in the 3rd trimester around birth so, I just hope she is okay.

OceanbreezeSun · 22/12/2022 12:13

@RedElleJ
I was also referred for a growth scan after the MW said my bump was measuring on the top end of the scale. They referred me for a growth scan the next day - the scan takes a little longer then ‘normal’ scans. They take more measurements and each time, they have checked the kidneys, stomach and cord carefully too.
It’s really reassuring to see your baby on the screen & in my case, the reason for my bigger than average bump was found to be excess amniotic fluid (Polyhydramnios)
Baby is actually measuring average weight (although at the last scan, he was abit smaller on the growth flow chart ) As others have said, growth scans are not 100% accurate though, just a guide.
I am having them every 2 weeks now, next one is tomorrow.

ChangeHtotheP · 22/12/2022 13:09

@RedElleJ I had my latest growth scan yesterday afternoon and the baby made me out to be a liar. 😂 When I said she normally didn’t like the check on the placenta she slept through the whole thing yesterday. 😂 Again she is measuring exactly where she should be, the sonographer confirmed that within the appointment which is always reassuring. Because I worry due to previous loss and how much is wrong with me at the minute I see the growth scans as a positive. I know the movements tell me she is ok but seeing everything in detail and having a professional explain everything makes me feel better. Plus if the diabetes does start to impact negatively it will be picked up straight away and we can address it, which again makes me feel better and less guilty that I am causing her damage.

Hope you get an appointment soon.

RedElleJ · 22/12/2022 17:50

Booked in for Tuesday morning. But, just going to hold onto the fact that she is wriggling away and seems quite happy 😊

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas - and I hope I’ll be reporting good news to you all on Tuesday 🤞🏻
