@drV Can 100% appreciate your concern especially with the family history! When is your next MW appointment? Might be no harm to mention it to them and put your mind at rest. I'm sure in the meantime 1 or 2 of the other ladies in this group might be able to relate to having had similar.

I'm just back from my latest MW appointment and she confirmed I was completely right about baby's position. Parked in exact same spot as my first DS was. Good thing I'd already planned on a CSection and booked it in as she reckoned likelihood is it would be inevitable again this time (must have a weird shaped uterus and they are parking in a comfortable spot!)

drV · 09/12/2022 21:40

@STom2 my next mw appointment is on Jan 9th, practically a month away... But I called her this evening because I wasn't confident enough to go into the weekend without knowing if that's normal... She said it's quite normal and unless I don't have any pain, contraction, discharge or reduced fetal movements, it's nothing to be worried about..

Also said I could go to hospital anytime if something happens.. she was quite reassuring, so I am just trying to relax..

drV · 11/12/2022 04:23

So I have had a crazy Saturday 😂 had an episode of reduced fetal movements+ contractions (diagnosed to be Braxton Hicks later on) .. rushed to hospital thinking she is coming super early but it was a false alarm!

Baby started kicking violently sometime after being strapped to the CTG.. but contractions kept coming.. so fetal fibronectin test done which turned out to be negative!

Finally hit the millstone of 30 weeks🙏 so thankful for every day she spends in there; as each day counts a lot towards her development!

Hope you ladies are having a cosy weekend!

OceanbreezeSun · 12/12/2022 13:14

@drV it’s always worrying when you feel reduced movements isn’t it. I’m glad all was ok. It sounds very eventful! Congrats on the 30 week milestone.

It sounds strange, but I don’t know if I get Braxton Hicks or not. It was the same with dd. I remember the MW asking me if I’ve been having them & I said I wasn’t sure!
I sometimes get a tight stomach in the eve, after I’ve had tea , it usually lasts a good hour or so, it’s not on and off and they are not painful, just uncomfortable.

An update on my Polyhydramnios diagnosis- I had another growth scan last week. Unfortunately, the fluid has increased, which is not what we wanted to hear & baby’s growth has slowed down slightly, it’s worrying but the consultant said measurements are not always 100% accurate and not to worry at this stage - they are going to scan me every 2 weeks now to keep a close eye on baby. His heart, kidneys, stomach , umbilical cord etc all functioning well and looking good so he was happy. I feel better knowing I’m having more regular scans at this stage & just trying to keep having positive thoughts & not google stuff!

STom2 · 12/12/2022 16:01

@OceanbreezeSun If its any help my mother had that when pregnant with me and that was 38 years ago. So tines were very different and there definitely wasn't the opportunity for additional monitoring or scans. I was fine. My mum still jokes about me being a terrible swimmer as I must have been doing the backstroke in there when she was pregnant she was carrying so much extra fluid 😄.

OceanbreezeSun · 12/12/2022 19:38

@STom2
Ha, your poor mum - all that extra fluid makes you feel very uncomfortable & tight.
I had it with my dd too but it went back to normal levels before I gave birth , however, I suspect it came back again (mildly) as when my waters broke, it was like floodgates 🤣 I’ve never seen so much fluid. I went through 2/3 pairs of pants whilst sat in triage🤭
The consultant said that as long as baby’s head is down when I give birth, that’s the main thing (if baby isn’t engaged, I would have to have a c- section due to risk of the cord coming out first)

How are you getting on?

Gamergirl84 · 12/12/2022 20:40

@OceanbreezeSun sorry to hear you're uncomfortable but I guess you knew what to look out for having the same condition with dd.

I have a midwife appointment on Wed when I'm sure I'll be diagnosed with the same. Last fundal measuring 6 weeks ahead and my belly is soo tight and uncomfortable.
Along with the SPD I'm pretty much immobile atm 😆

On rhe count down now for baby to arrive!

becca0195 · 12/12/2022 21:09

Hey all 🫢 got my 12 week scan tomorrow, and to say I'm scared is a understatement, we have had a couple of miscarriages and we've never made it this far and I'm so scared and nervous for bad news tomorrow.

I'm not sure what or why I'm writing this, we haven't told anyone we are pregnant this time round wanted to wait for 12 weeks.

So much going through my head... is it there, was it even there, what if it's gone, I'm so worried

I guess just looking for some nice words ❤️

Hagster · 13/12/2022 09:13

Welcome @becca0195, it's so completely understandable to have that worry, being through loss breaks that naive bubble and scans are scary as well as exciting.

We're absolutely here for you no matter what, but of course really wishing for a positive scan for you.

Best of luck today xx

doingitalllagain · 13/12/2022 09:34

How's everyone doing? I'm 31 weeks now and baby has stayed put! I've had a couple of days of on/off contractions again but still no cervix changes so holding on to that. The hospital were really reassuring that we're at a good gestation now if he really does decide to make an appearance but I'm hoping for just another 6 weeks atleast. My son was born at 37 weeks and was healthy, and this baby has had steroids too so I keep thinking of that my safe zone!

Feeling very pregnant now, insomnia kicking in, waddling begun Grin up 5 times a night to wee. But we are all getting so close!

ChangeHtotheP · 13/12/2022 10:46

Glad to hear he is staying put @doingitalllagain! Fingers crossed for another few weeks. 🤞🏼

@drV Sounds like a very hectic and scary weekend. Pleased to hear it’s all ok.

I’ve been figuring out the gestational
diabetes and seems to be managing it ok. Also been put on fragmin as the HG means I get dehydrated regularly. I’m 30 weeks tomorrow and glad to be in the final 10 weeks…..pregnancy hasn’t been fun but looking forward to meeting her. I can’t believe this little human being is moving around inside me and will be here soon. We’ve grown humans!!! How crazy. 🤯

MooBugz · 13/12/2022 16:04

@doingitalllagain great news! That should give some reassurance but I bet it's short lived there's always worry isn't there!

@OceanbreezeSun that sounds like a rollercoaster but we are nearing the end of the road now it's been a wild one hasn't it for most of us? That's good you have the routine scans in place and being looked after I hope that settles and everything turns out well.

I had my scan today to discuss labour options and I'll be 31 weeks on Thursday. Scan showed baby is on the 11th percentile so that sent me into a panic and I'll have two weekly scans from now on and hoping baby stays on the chart otherwise I may have to be induced. I was hoping after today I'd be in a position to focus on one labour or other but I'm none the wiser after the growth scan monitoring so we'll see in a few weeks how we're doing. Baby is also breech but not worried about that as I know that's very common at this stage and we have time.

Now I'm just worried about baby's growth and hoping all is ok in there. The doc tried to reassure me but had said the risk of stillbirth if baby is too small but as long as there is steady growth it's ok but that they may need to intervene with an earlier arrival so cross that bridge if it comes!

On the positive front my iron levels have increased a lot and I won't need a transfusion so I'm pleased about that.

Hope you are all doing ok sounds like a fair share of us have had ups and downs but we're getting there..

RedElleJ · 13/12/2022 16:56

Hey everyone,

I have been really struggling with fatigue lately - 3rd trimester has hit me like a tonne of bricks! How is everyone else feeling? I am 29+4 and feeling huge...if one more person gives me the whole shocked look that I am due end of Feb and not imminently though - I might lose it haha!

My GTT came back negative so no GD for now - have the midwife next week so if she says i'm off the chart again I am hoping for a growth scan. I will also refuse another GTT unless there are other indicators in the future or bump growth really doesn't slow.

Sorry to hear about being on the lower side of the growth chart @MooBugz - really good that they are monitoring every couple of weeks now. Keeping my fingers crossed that baby puts on some chunk in the next few weeks for you :)

Silly question (maybe) but I was at a Christmas thing the other day and ate some cranberry and brie tarts - they were served hot so no lectures on the brie please haha! However, it wasn't until after that I found out the tarts were shop bought and contained alcohol! - These are the ones, www.ocado.com/products/m-s-12-brie-cranberry-tartlets-538922011

Do you think I need to be worried about the alcohol that is in them? I can't see any % or ABV but it has kind of been playing on my mind and thought I would ask you guys.

Good luck for tomorrow @becca0195 - we are here if you need us. Sending you all the positivity.

I have only skim read so really sorry as I know I will have missed people but just wanted to say thank you for all the advice for all things baby. Really starting to feel the worry/pressure as a first time mum but the lists have really helped :) x

STom2 · 13/12/2022 17:45

@RedElleJ I'd have absolutely zero concerns about alcohol in food like that. Aside from anything cooking tends to burn off alcohol content. But the No Alcoholic rule is more of a sweeping one. I think in your first trimester and maybe second there's a lot of key things happening with regards to baby development so excessive alcohol consumption can have an impact here. But in your 3rd trimester they're basically just fattening up mostly at this stage. Also, I'm from Ireland and I know they used to always recommend things like drinking Guinness to people during pregnancy to help with iron levels and it never did any harm! I'm pretty sure in France as well its okay to have a glass of wine.

STom2 · 13/12/2022 17:52

@MooBugz That is difficult that the growth scan has raised some anxiety. Definitely good though that it's picked up and they will monitor it. My trust only do a growth scan at 36 weeks and never measure fundal height or anything. So I could be at either end of the spectrum and be absolutely none the wiser! Obviously if baby is still scanning as smaller and they decide to evict them earlier it won't feel ideal, but better to know and manage it accordingly than suddenly be presented with this situation when you go into spontaneous labour.

Honestly I reckon there must be quite a margin for error with the scans. I know someone who was advised at 37 weeks that baby was both measuring very small and likely had a heart issue that would need to be addressed immediately after the delivery. Neither of those things were actually correct in the end. Baby was decent weight and no heart issue at all.

MooBugz · 13/12/2022 19:09

Thank you @RedElleJ @STom2 I've calmed a little now I've had time to process it. And I'm also thinking about my last pregnancy where my girl was the smallest out the 3 so far and I reckon she may have been in similar low percentile for weight but I never had extra scans with her so I'll never know for sure.

No point in me stressing I'm looking at the positive side which is less chance of a third degree tear so that works for me! But cross that bridge at the time, right now just need to see how I get on in two weeks 🙈

OP posts:
Hagster · 13/12/2022 19:56

@doingitalllagain so pleased to hear baby is hanging in there, fingers crossed he stays that way for a while yet! Sounds like the hospital have been really supportive of you, glad you're being well looked after.

God you really haven't had an easy ride @ChangeHtotheP, sounds like it's been one thing after another for you. You're so right about what an amazing thing it is that we're doing though, I find it completely mad that we're growing people.

Oh @Moobugz I'm sorry your scan was a worrying one. Again it sounds like you're getting good care so I'm glad they're monitoring and supporting you but absolutely appreciate how hard it is too. Good that you won't need a transfusion though.

@RedElleJ definitely don't worry about that level of alcohol. I agree with @STom2. I read 'Expecting Better' by Emily Oster and she weighs up all the science and basically you can actually have a little bit, the trace in those will be absolutely fine. Please don't worry!

I seem to be doing a bit better, most recent blood tests suggest my liver is getting better and had a 30 week scan last week showing things are ok. Although they did find I have an extra section of placenta on the other side of my uterus which I didn't even know was a thing. Apparently it's not a risk to the baby, but can result in a higher likelihood of me bleeding after birth so will just need to keep an eye on that. Totally took me by surprise when they told me, it's absolutely massive, not much room for baby in there, it's all placenta!!

How did the scan go @becca0195?

OceanbreezeSun · 13/12/2022 20:00

@becca0195 Welcome & congratulations.
There will always be a level of anxiety after a mc. I’m not sure it ever goes away fully. We are all here if you need to vent!

@Gamergirl84 I’m sorry to hear about the SPD - it must be so uncomfortable, I hope you don’t have the extra fluid as that will add to the discomfort, which you don’t need.

@MooBugz Yes! I think as the weeks get closer, I’m glad it’s getting closer, as finding this pregnancy more difficult this time around, but at the same time, I don’t feel that prepared!

I’m sorry it’s been abit of a whirlwind for you too, but it’s great you are being closely monitored & they are taking it seriously. Growth scans are notorious because they can be so ‘out’ but you have to follow the precautions, don’t you. When they told me ds growth had slowed slightly in the last 4 weeks, I was fine one minute, then my eyes started welling up. Then the consultant started talking about a c-section and it all felt vert scary, but they are just doing their job and have to tell you all possible risks, no matter how small that risk might be for you on an individual basis.

It’s good about those iron levels, one less thing to worry about for you.

We will get there in the end! ❤️

Rubes1234 · 14/12/2022 13:11

Hi everyone!

ive just skimmed over all the messages and sending lots of love to all of you!

Good luck for today @becca0195!!

Im currently back in hospital! Had a large red bleed last night and got scanned and they’ve diagnosed placenta previa now. Turned 31 weeks this morning. I’ve been kept in for monitoring and poss delivery depending on how the bleeding goes. They haven’t started me on the steroids yet as bleeding had slowed but I’m just going out of my mind with worry. If I have another fresh bleed I will be started on those. I’ve googled the life out of the complications of the bleeding risks and horror stories on here that I’m just up the wall. Baby girl is measuring a few days ahead and is weighing 4lb on the growth scan so taking that as a positive. I’m just hoping she will stay in for as long as possible!! 😓Her movements and heart rate are perfect. Just have that feeling of failure of not being able to give her a working and right placenta. I’ve read lots about it being linked to previous D&C procedures and trying to take comfort in that. So looks like early delivery for me before 37 weeks if baby girl can hold out that long.

has anyone here ever had this? Or know anyone with this and csection birth? Xx

MooBugz · 14/12/2022 13:52

@Rubes1234 sorry can't help but wanted to say thinking of you and hoping she stays out for a while longer for you. The bleeding must have brought on a lot of worry and flashback for you even you saying it gave me the fear.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Seems like it's not a simple process for a lot of us this growing a baby malarkey 🙈

OP posts:
Hagster · 14/12/2022 14:39

Oh @Rubes1234 so sorry to hear that, it sounds so scary for you. Great to hear that she's a good size though of course I hope she's able to stay in a bit longer for you. Sending you a huge hug. xx

doingitalllagain · 14/12/2022 16:41

Sorry to hear that Rubes! I had steroids at the first possibility of baby coming early, there isn't a risk in having them as far as I was told it's vital just to try and get both doses in 24 hours apart and ideally 24 hours then before birth. I'd be insisting on them asap as you'd rather have them and not need them, then not have them and baby go without! Hope it all calms down and baby stays put xx

drV · 17/12/2022 10:49

Hi all.. hope you all have had an okay week..

@Rubes1234 so sorry it's been stressful for you.. bleeding so much is bound to send anyone up the stress ladder! Hope you and the baby are doing well and both are looked after properly! Do update us about the situation.. xx

@Hagster glad your liver function tests are doing ok.. another piece of placenta? That's wild 😵‍💫

@doingitalllagain glad to know that baby has stay put! Everyday we are getting closer to the safe finishing line.. hold on in there little one 🤗 about insomnia and waddle - I am so with you! Insomnia is pretty bad.. I guess the good sleep nights are over for now 😂

@OceanbreezeSun polyhydramnios is a bit concerning right! But I have been told again and again that the growth scans aren't very accurate and has an error margin of 15% ! So hopefully your little one is growing well..

@RedElleJ negative GTT, yay 🥳 it's such a big relief to not get that dreaded phone call ! Hope your fatigue is not getting worse..

@MooBugz hope your little one continues to pack on some pounds for next few weeks! Glad to know that you have been offered frequent scans, they really do put our minds on ease!

@ChangeHtotheP really, hats off to you for managing GD with ease.. congrats on the 30 weeks millstone 😇

@becca0195 hope your scan went well! Totally understand your concerns, after a MC, everything is scary!

Skylark1990 · 17/12/2022 11:13

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd check in as it's been a while. I really hope everyone is doing well. @Rubes1234 that sounds so scary, do you know yet if it's placenta previa? Sending lots of luck to you for the next few weeks! @MooBugz sorry to hear you have had some concerns re growth! 11 percentile is not too small id say, I think usually it's under 3rd percentile they would worry more about baby... And sounds your last baby was also quite small so I'm sure it's just genetics rather than anything to worry about 🌻💖💪! Totally get the worry though! But really good you are having regular scans. Remember too that growth scans can be quite innacurate! They estimated my DD as 90th percentile but she was 60th! Hopefully baby follows their own line and you're reassured at the next scan 💚

I'm 24+1 now and can't believe I'm nearly in third trimester! After the 20 week scan and the finding of one dilated kidney we saw the fetal medicine consultant for another detailed scan, he confirmed it's just the one mildly dilated kidney and everything else looks fine so that was a relief. I still felt anxious though so we decided to do the nipt privately. Got those results back on Monday and all good thankfully! It was such a huge weight off my shoulders, the anxiety about it all spanned about 3 weeks, crazy to think how long these sorts of tests etc can take (and 3 weeks isn't even long in the scheme of things but still felt ages!). I'm definitely finally feeling more relaxed so I just hope that lasts. The kidney issue will hopefully resolve itself and have a scan at 32 weeks to check it. Have started thinking about the birth now. Am considering aiming for a home birth again, have a chat with the consultant midwife about it in January due to how my previous birth went, then will make a decision! I'm excited to give birth again but equally nervous.

Happy holidays to everyone 🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄

drV · 17/12/2022 11:48

@Skylark1990 so glad to hear everything is fine! Three weeks as such isn't a long time but every day of those three weeks waiting for such an important test result can be such an agony🥺 now that things are settled, hope you can enjoy the pregnancy!
