Also wondering how you are getting on @doingitalllagain

Almost 29w here, feel like I need to survive through to January from a work perspective & then can hopefully plan and get excited.

Had midwife appt this week and she sent me for growth scan. Was fine and was nice to see our little boy again, so didn't mind too much! In the scan he was sneezing and scratching his nose!! Looked like a fully formed little baby somehow.

doingitalllagain · 05/12/2022 16:21

Thanks for all well wishes! I spent 4 days in hospital but I'm home, we had one scare where he seemed to be in distress so I was prepped for a section but he stabilised and it all calmed down and looks like he is staying put for now (thank god) but had both doses of the steroids if he does decide to surprise us. Saw the consultant at my local hospital today who is happy with everything and is happy to let me carry on with weekly monitoring / fortnightly scans so I'm just taking it very easy. 30 weeks today! Hope everyone else is well ❤️

drV · 05/12/2022 16:30

@doingitalllagain oh that's a wonderful news ! well done lil one ☺️ Sending more stay in cosily vibes your way.. take care xx

STom2 · 05/12/2022 16:50

Oh this is amazing news @doingitalllagain !!! Thanks for letting us know. So thrilled baby is staying put. Absolutely take it nice and easy for the foreseeable. xx

That's great to hear you are home @doingitalllagain as you can sense we have all been thinking of you! And really good that you've been given what you need in case baby decides to come early but fingers crossed that's not the case 😊

So glad to hear things are ok @doingitalllagain, what a week you've had. Glad they're keeping a close eye on things for you.

Skylark1990 · 06/12/2022 10:18

Really glad to see your update @doingitalllagain ! What a relief ❤️

RedElleJ · 06/12/2022 16:09

Brilliant news @doingitalllagain - so so pleased for you x

drV · 06/12/2022 17:18

I have some good news to share too.. had GTT yesterday and it's clear 🥳 I was scared silly and had also started on GD diet.. but I will continue to be careful with my diet just to be on safer side!

OceanbreezeSun · 07/12/2022 12:18

@doingitalllagain lovely news, well done little one, you have a fighter there.

@drV what a relief for you!😄

I have a question to ask to anyone who has had the whooping cough jab? I had it on Monday & have started sneezing about 10 times in a row since this morning, my throat is abit sore, plus I’m blowing my nose a lot, it doesn’t really say any of this is a side effect but just wanted to know if you had anything like this. It could just be a coincidence.
I had that horrible cold that’s going around a couple of weeks ago, so hoping I’m not getting another blooming cold!

I have another growth scan this Friday ( I have mild Polyhydramnios, so having extra monitoring) excited to see our little one again. I’m hoping the fluid hasn’t increased.

My next mw appointment is in 2 weeks, mw has put in extra time to talk about my birth plan, eeeeekkkk. I’ll be 34 weeks by then.

How is everyone doing? Excited for Christmas?

drV · 07/12/2022 12:41

@OceanbreezeSun i had my whooping cough vaccination last Saturday, I am kind of having cold/flu like symptoms too - sinus congestion, mild headache and runny nose.. I don't know if that's still the effect of the vaccination or I am catching a cold😵‍💫

But the nurse who gave me the injection did mention one could flu like symptoms..

But please do make sure it's nothing serious, with all the scarlet fever thing going around in the community.. if in doubt, call the midwife!

Scans are quite exciting, aren't they?! I love seeing my baby grow from one scan to the other, also love seeing her antics like scratching nose, thumb suckling, turning away from the probe etc 😅

34 weeks, wow - you are getting pretty close to the finishing line!

ChangeHtotheP · 07/12/2022 14:20

So glad to read that update @doingitalllagain!!!! 😄

Sad to say I wasn’t as lucky as @drv. My GD bloods came back positive. Hospital have been fantastic and had us in the next day and explained all the science behind it. That really helped me as I thought it was something I had done but turns out it’s just bad science in my body which I couldn’t have prevented. The placenta is going to have a lot to answer for after she’s here, causing me HG and GD. 😂Doing the finger prick 6 times a day and so far all good, managing it ok. Get to go see baby at a growth scan this afternoon and then will have others every 2 weeks, so it’s not all bad.

I’m excited for her to be here but also for the stress of pregnancy to be over. Is it just me or does it feel like a rollercoaster to everyone? One day I’m happy with everything and then with one phone call it all changes and there’s so much pressure.

Hagster · 07/12/2022 14:45

That's great news @drV, pleased for you.

Sorry to hear you've not had such an easy time @ChangeHtotheP, but sounds like you're getting good care and I hope it doesn't affect things too much for you. Reassuring that it's not something you have control over too, our bodies just react differently to pregnancy.

Update from me, I've now been officially diagnosed with Obstetric Choleostasis (ICP), which isn't great. Stupid liver. It's a lot earlier than in my last pregnancy and I'm a bit worried I'm going to end up getting induced quite early. I've got my next lot of bloods tomorrow (and a scan), and I'm seeing the Consultant then too so can hopefully have a clearer idea of when they expect to induce me. I'm hoping for at least 37 weeks but it looks like reaching my due date is unlikely. My mum and husband totally freaked out over the diagnosis and I ended up comforting them, rather unhelpful really. I'm trying to stay level headed about it but it's hard when I don't have many outlets for talking it through and also when Google is not your friend for reassurance.

STom2 · 07/12/2022 15:40

@ChangeHtotheP I hear you on the rollercoaster. I was sobbing again last night because I didn't manage to get some planned cleaning done. Absolute bag of hormones. I'm also so much more uncomfortable this time around and keep flipping between trying to embrace this pregnancy as I plan on it being my last and also wanting it to be over. I know I should be grateful Ive even been able to carry a baby as so many aren't lucky to be able to do so.

@Hagster that sounds really stressful for you. I sense that you're somewhat mentally prepared after experiencing this a little later in your last pregnancy but appreciate the earlier induction is a concern. Is it 37 weeks they're officially classed as "full term"? Assuming anything from this point is okay despite an induction not being ideal.

Skylark1990 · 07/12/2022 16:17

Hi everyone, nice to read all your updates. That's great news @drV . Sorry to hear about the diagnoses you've had @ChangeHtotheP @Hagster ! Hope you're feeling ok.

I have a friend who had ICP and baby was doing ok so they didn't induce her till40 weeks so perhaps you will be able to be closer to your due date than you expect! When were you induced with your first DC? Hopefully also as it's your second an induction will be a smoother process than usual 🙏🌻

drV · 07/12/2022 17:53

@ChangeHtotheP oh I am so sorry for your diagnosis of GD.. hope it won't be too difficult on you! Also HG , I can't imagine how difficult things must have been for you since beginning. 🥺 Hope everything gets better for you!

@Hagster obstetric cholestasis, sounds scary! Sorry you are going though so much atm, do take care xx

@STom2 you aren't alone there! I plan to do so many things but just can't get them done.. either I am too tired or sleepy most of the times.. feels like the baby is sitting right in my pelvis and thus the back and legs hurt so bad 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am seriously thinking of packing the hospital bag.. my next scan and appointment is during December last week when I will be 32 weeks.. my gut feeling, baby might come early.. just don't know why!

ChangeHtotheP · 07/12/2022 17:59

Thanks everyone. Had the first growth scan today and she is exactly where she needs to be growth wise and placenta is functioning normally. All my blood readings have been within the limits so I’m hoping I can control it with only a few changes and she remains relatively unimpacted.

@Hagster Rubbish that’s been diagnosed but you sound like you’re prepared for this and know how to manage your emotions around it. Fingers crossed you can get as close to 37 weeks as possible. Between the Hg and diabetes I just keep telling myself each day that passes and she’s still in there is a positive. We need to keep on taking the small wins.

@STom2 I am definitely with you on thinking that I want this to hurry up but also grateful I’m lucky enough to be pregnant. Considering we were told we would never have children naturally I know this is a miracle pregnancy but it’s also been the worst experience. Hospitalise for sickness, on so much medication to control it and now this diagnosis. I’m looking forward to her being here but also can’t wait to get the placenta out of me. 😂

ChangeHtotheP · 07/12/2022 18:03

I’ve been buying things for my hospital bag but haven’t yet packed it. I feel like anything can change in a day now so might start putting it all together. @drV id rather be over prepared than panicking when labour starts as I think I’ll be flapping over that. 😂

MooBugz · 07/12/2022 19:23

Sorry to hear about the struggles some of you ladies are going through, it's never just straightforward is it 😑 hopefully you manage to focus on the good side and know there isn't long to go now and you can do this and you'll be meeting your beautiful rainbow babies before you know it and you'll forget you even had these issues ♥️

I've got bloods next week to check iron has been absorbing otherwise will need to get a transfusion which I'm hopin to avoid. Growth scan on Tuesday too that'll help decide on which labour route to focus on.

@STom2 if it's any help I can relate with the ups and downs and it being the last planned pregnancy and feeling like I'm not embracing it as much as I should be especially considering the year I've had but every night I tel myself tomorrow is a new day and I'm going to be about the positive vibes only! It's worth taking time to take selfies where you can because I know that's something I'll regret not doing enough not. Planning on getting my hair done in January too and try focus on the good feels going into February.

I defo feel the strain of this pregnancy and the tiredness is unreal so I'm worried the iron isn't taking effect as it should be or I'm just exhausted with life and trying to keep up with normal life! But grateful for being pregnant and know that not long to go. We've got a few days away booked for a few weeks time so looking forward to some festive family time in Manchester for a change of scene.

Hope everyone is managing ok and know that we are here in this together girls we got this 💪 🌈

Second time mums, need some advice please.. since yesterday, my belly has moved down really - I mean it's not right in my chest anymore... Not very breathless too.. baby is moving alright 🙏 Does that mean the baby is engaged or something? Is she preparing to come?! 😳 I am only 29w5d today.. and super scared now.. has this happened to anyone?

STom2 · 09/12/2022 15:46

@drV Not sure if this is helpful or not but I'm 30 weeks with second baby. With first DS he never really moved up high. Was always down one side with head below ribs and feet over by groin on other side. So I never had the up high breathless feeling. Its exact same with this LO. He's parked in EXACTLY the same position. I reckon I've a lopsided uterus or something! But I guess my point was I always felt (and again this time), the kicks very low down and never had a high bump (on the plus side it meant I didn't get heartburn first time and now that it's subsided post norovirus I don't seem to have it anymore again). So I guess they can still really take up any position and low doesn't mean they're engaged. My MW told me with my son he was head down at 32 weeks last time but this was definitely not the case at all and she said 3 weeks later she'd probably confused it.

drV · 09/12/2022 16:19

@STom2 thank you, yes I do understand the positions can vary... Even though I am almost 30 weeks now and the baby's weight is on the heavier side, I have always felt the kicks on the sides of my umbilicus, never above that..

It's just that I felt my belly has moved down today, I panicked a bit! I have a strong family history of preterm births.. my elder brother was born at 30 weeks and me at 34... 😬 So got worried.. but I don't have kind of pain, contractions or discharge.. I think it's just one of those varying positions.. my baby has been in head down position since 26 weeks, mw said this baby is in a hurry to get things done..😂
