@doingitalllagain this sounds really scary, but glad you are in hospital where they can look after you both. Sending lots of staying in for now please baby vibes and lots of love. X

WonderWoop · 27/11/2022 22:38

@doingitalllagain thinking of you, keep calm and each day will help xxx

doingitalllagain · 28/11/2022 08:42

Thank you all. No major updates here, periods of tightenings and then nothing at all. Had both doses of steroids now. They did a Partosure test, more accurate than fibronectin, positive too. Apparently 82% chance of labour starting within 14 days.. just hoping I'm the 18% who doesn't! Meeting with the NICU team today to discuss what we'd realistically be looking at if he does come in that time. Already had reduced movements and floods of years overnights I feel on such high alert Sad

MooBugz · 28/11/2022 10:58

@doingitalllagain thank you for keeping us updated on how your are doing. Are you coping ok? Have you got support available to talk things through so you are not going crazy.

I hope baby stays out as long as is safe but also as @RedElleJ has said the statistics for birth are in your favour here onwards, although I fully appreciate naturally your brain will take you to worse case scenarios.

Here if you need to cry it out, vent or even just have some random chat. We've been on this journey together and know that we're all here x

@doingitalllagain I'm so sorry I have only just read this update. My goodness what a big challenge to deal with, totally understandable that your head is struggling to get round it. I can't add anything meaningful beyond what others have said, I hope you're as ok as you can be and please do keep using us to vent/offload as much as you need. We are here for you xx

madeinthe80z · 28/11/2022 13:05

Thinking off you @doingitallagain

Fingers crossed that bubba stays cosy and hangs on in there as long as possible.

My sister's twins were premature and she had the steroid injections first - made a huge difference and they didn't need any breathing support at all because it did the trick with their lungs. Good luck and hold on in there x

RedElleJ · 28/11/2022 17:29

Hey ladies,

just back from my 28 midwife appointment - I had a much nicer student midwife this time.

unfortunately, I need a gestational diabetes test as my fundal height is measuring above the 97th percentile! So feeling guilty about any and all rubbish food I have eaten and stressed about what this might mean for birth preferences.

feeling quite emotional about it all to be honest - which is ridiculous as the test isn’t even until Friday so I don’t know anything yet. But, even if it’s not GD and she is just big I’m still worried about what that means for birth.

Hope it was a positive conversation with the NICU team today @doingitalllagain?

STom2 · 28/11/2022 18:01

@RedElleJ You've zero reason to feel guilty! With my DS and with this LO I had to routinely have the GD test due to being 35 or over. Fine both tines despite the fact my eating habits in pregnancy are atrocious (including out of character sugar cravings for caramel in particular that go through the roof).

Not all hospitals do those fundal measurements. Mine doesn't at all. Never weigh me or check bump size. They simply do a 36 week growth scan. The attitude of my Trust is that measuring bump etc is being phased out as its not entirely reliable. My SIL was told twice in pregnancy her bump was large and she was likely carrying excess water. Subsequent scans proved this to be incorrect.

Gamergirl84 · 28/11/2022 18:21

@RedElleJ don't panic! I had my measurement today too and I wasn't even on the chart! I was measuring 34 weeks at 28.... I've also had a GTT about two weeks ago which came clear and nothing has ever been pi ked upnin my urine tests. I guess baby is just big 😄
Also my midwife reassured me that the scan is much more accurate and not to worry about it.

@doingitalllagain so glad for your update. It much be so hard just waiting. It sounds like all the right people are involved and more than prepared for baba if he shows up early. Wishing you a restful night hun x

OceanbreezeSun · 28/11/2022 19:47

@doingitalllagain
Just read your updates - I can’t imagine how worrying it all is for you right now, glad you are in the best place possible & you and baby will be looked after.
Thinking of you and baby. I hope you get some rest tonight x

@Gamergirl84
Just to give you some reassurance - at my 28 week mw appointment , mw did the fundel measurement and my bump was also measuring literally right at the top of the chart. Bump is big , much bigger then dc at the same stage - mw booked me in for a growth scan the next day and actual measurements show ds is right in the middle (average) weighing approx 3 lbs.
I do have abit of extra fluid (Polyhydramnios - I had it with dd too, but it went back to normal eventually around week 32/33) so I am under a consultant and will have extra scans to monitor. The extra fluid - even a small amount can make your bump look and feel much bigger as well as tight and uncomfortable. I can only eat little and often as bigger meals make me feel like that girl who turns violet from Willy Wonka.

Dd was 8 lbs at birth so quite big but she was long rather then chunky, I expect ds to be rather big too, but at least I’ll know either way with scans.

Lmcc88 · 28/11/2022 21:14

Hi Ladies!

I have been lurking lately and not posting.

just catching up and send your update @doingitalllagain really hoping baby stays cooking for a while longer but as you say you’re in the best possible place if needs be!

Hoping your chat today went well and you’ve managed some rest.

RedElleJ · 30/11/2022 09:16

Thanks for the kind words ladies - ill
let you know how it goes on Friday.

I ended up calling triage the other day because little girls kicks and punches are feeling very different. They said I could come in if I wanted to but I am confident she is moving - just wanted to check if it was normal. Basically, I’m getting what I think are internal kicks with the occasional kick to the bump. And, last night it felt like she was kicking my bum! They said it sounds totally normal and I thought seeing as I heard baby only a few days ago, there was no need to go in.

Has anyone experienced this before? Triage said baby had probably moved position but I am just wondering if baby will move back again? I’m 28 weeks this week and a bit worried she might stay in breech or another awkward position.

STom2 · 30/11/2022 10:18

@RedElleJ Oh my LO is all over the place! Some days my entire belly is jerking around with the power of the kicks. Other days he's kicking me directly into the crotch or punching my bladder and making me almost pee myself every time. Those particular movements are much further in. They move around right up to near your due date/ when they engage (albeit with less room). My DS was oblique breach from 36 weeks and they did try to manually move him at 38 weeks (don't recommend it). But spinning babies website has lots of movements you can do at home if you're nearing your due date and baby is breach.

Hagster · 02/12/2022 07:19

How are you doing @doingitalllagain? Have been thinking about you a lot.

Skylark1990 · 02/12/2022 09:37

Thinking of you @doingitalllagain ❤️

@RedElleJ DD measured big on the fundal height measurements when I was 38 weeks so had to do the GD test and have a scan. They estimated via scan she was 95th percentile! Advised induction or section at 40 weeks despite GD test coming back clear. I declined. Growth scans can be up to 20% inaccurate. In the absence of other factors eg diabetes it's not recommended by NICE guidelines to induce for big baby alone.

When she arrived at 41+6 she was 59th percentile so it was definitely wrong.

Hopefully everything comes back fine but even if she's measuring big don't worry, particularly if the GD is clear. Have a look at Sara Wickhams website on this she has great info xx

drV · 02/12/2022 11:26

@RedElleJ in the same boat here; baby measuring at 90th centile and also bump is two weeks ahead! Going in for a repeat GTT next Monday.. but during a recent scan, the fetal medicine specialist mentioned that weight estimation by ultrasound is not always accurate, so there may be a bit of discrepancy.. and all that matters is, the placental and umbilical blood flow is regular and adequate amount of liquor. So I am just worried about the GTT now😩

@doingitalllagain how are you doing?! Hope all is well and the baby is staying put for a few more weeks🙏

drV · 02/12/2022 11:33

Apart from all the technicalities... How is everyone chipping in the third trimester?!

I get so breathless by climbing stairs and absolutely can't hurry about anything .. I am just not my old self anymore 😂 taking everything super slowly..

about the baby kicks - @RedElleJ my little one also occasionally kicks me in the bum! It felt weird in the beginning but now atleast once a day, it happens.. practically she kicks everywhere.. the other day I had eaten quite a lot and she choose to kick right in the fully distended tummy.. Lucky I didn't throw up!

ChangeHtotheP · 02/12/2022 13:10

Hope you and baby are doing ok @doingitalllagain. It’s weird how I don’t know you but can’t stop thinking about how you’re getting on. Sending every positive thought your way. 😘

@drV So glad to finally be in the third trimester. I’m so ready for her to be here now so hope the next few weeks don’t drag. She kicks me regularly but like you it can be anywhere. I find the bladder kicks especially fun when out in public. I feel like I’m going to wet myself. 😂

We need to start buying things now. We have the big stuff on order but feel so unprepared with everything else. I have been worrying about tempting fate and buying things too early but think anything can happen now so we need to start being prepared. With it being our first we need everything, where to start?! 😂

Hope everyone is keeping well and bumping along nicely. 😄

MooBugz · 02/12/2022 14:15

Echoing everyone else's sentiments for you @doingitalllagain and hope that you are bearing up ok ♥️

@ChangeHtotheP funny you should say that about the bladder kicks I've had them A LOT this week and getting all sorts of movements happening making me squirm lol

So guys, I've officially put through my mat leave and I finish up on Friday 13th January 🧟‍♂️ I can't be superstitious after all we've been through! Looking forward to getting through the festive season and relaxing after with at least 4 weeks break before the baby comes (hopefully)

I've got my growth scan in two weeks which will help me decide on delivery option and then that's me good to go and get the hospital bags ready come January!

Hope all my bumpy ladies are doing good 🌈 X

ChangeHtotheP · 02/12/2022 14:42

I finish on 27th January @MooBugz. A couple of weeks leave and then mat leave officially starts mid February. I’ve planned mine to start the week before I’m officially due as think I’ll be induced early as I’m 40 and on lots of medication for the HG. Once Christmas is out of the way I’ll be on wind down. Never had so long off work before so get excited, then remember I’ll still be working but for a different boss who I never get to have a rest from. 😂

I forgot to say thank you to whoever it was who recommended the baby academy for the antinatal classes. We have done some and found them really useful.

drV · 02/12/2022 15:06

I just can't get my head around to attend the antenatal classes online... Booked it a couple of times but somehow managed it to miss them every time 🤓

I so want to have a face to face antenatal class but there isn't one going on in my town. Just curious to know - anyone here from/around North Yorkshire?!

Had my whopping cough vaccine this morning.. and my arm is so sore already 😵‍💫

Hagster · 02/12/2022 15:49

Echoing the sudden realisation of things being closer than I realised!

This morning I got some blood test results back and it looks like my liver is being rubbish again like in my last pregnancy. It's earlier this time than last time so I'm a bit worried. They've sent me for further tests and I'll possibly end up getting induced early - hopefully as close to 40 as possible but could be as early as 35 weeks if my liver becomes complete garbage. Trying not to worry too much until I know what I'm dealing with, but can't help but worry anyway. Baby has been kicking away like normal so that's reassuring at least.

ChangeHtotheP · 02/12/2022 15:51

We’re East Yorkshire @drV. We had a face to face one which was held at the local children’s centre. I booked onto it after seeing the signs in the hospital. They also sent a link to a video, which we watched but skipped through as it was so boring. 😂 I liked meeting other mums at the face to face but found the baby academy ones more informative. Have you got any children’s centres you can check in with in your area?

drV · 02/12/2022 19:01

@ChangeHtotheP i did enquire around but all face to face stuff has been cancelled since covid and aren't resumed yet.. I would also like to meet mums to be, who are in the same stage.. otherwise online is fine, it's too cold to go out anyway 😅

@Hagster hope everything turns out well for you xx
