@drV could it be that you are more active on the weekends, walking around etc so you don't notice movement as much? And maybe you sit more during the day at work during week? Not sure what you do for work and I'm making assumptions ofc, but I find I feel baby more when I'm sitting down as opposed to walking around and busy.

MooBugz · 06/11/2022 12:22

Hi @drV welcome to the group I hope it helps smooth the journey 😊

Like @Skylark1990 this might be the car as I have found that with me I notice more at night or sitting when the hustle of the day is over with.

I'm going to have a mini wardrobe clear out for my post pregnancy clothes so it's all just clothes in there that I'll be wearing upto and just after baby arrives. Our house has hardly any storage so I need to be doing this seasonal otherwise I have no space!

I also went and bought some grey unisex bedding for the crib and Moses basket so that was fun 🤩

How is everyone else doing? X

@Skylark1990 I have just finished my masters and was about to apply for jobs when I conceived, so SAHM at the moment.. my daily activities are fairly consistent over the week, not too busy on weekends so as not not notice FM.. may be the baby hasn't developed a routine yet, and just co incidence she chose to rest a bit more on both weekends 🤷

I was super worried and so phoned the MW, she asked me to get checked immediately and so in I went.. all normal and FHR 142/min... Midwife was very nice and reassuring.. asked me to go come back anytime if I am concerned..

STom2 · 08/11/2022 15:25

Looks like a tummy bug has hit our house. Started with DH first thing this morning. DS now vomited straight after his nap (was totally fine until then). Hoping Im not next. Any tips for how I can avoid catching it. Worried it will impact LO.

@STom2 oh no! Hope your all feeling a bit better now!

I am currently at my glucose test! The drink was actually alright! It tasted like thick melted lolly ice. Definitely better to relive the glory days and down it in one but overall not too bad. Worried over nothing 😂

@MooBugz love the decluttering idea! I need to get around to this myself! How have you got on?

Hagster · 10/11/2022 15:37

How are you doing now @STom2? I was off work all last week with flu, was quite worried about baby but she's still kicking away now so that's good. Hope you've started to recover.

So glad things were ok for you @Drv. Always best to check, better safe than sorry for sure.

@Moobugz @Rubes1234 I love the idea of decluttering. I'm going on maternity leave 4 weeks early and I have big plans for nesting! Lots of sorting and decorating and generally getting in full-on baby mode.

Only 10 more weeks of work for me! Trying so hard not to phone it in and still be a productive member of society but it's hard. Every week feels so great now, like the chances of things going well get better and better. Trying so hard to stay in a positive mindset and enjoy pregnancy rather than worrying. Not always easy but trying.

Also just looked at the list - 12 of us due within 11 days of one another! That's going to be an intense fortnight ladies. Bring it on!

Welcome! @drV
I hope you find this group as helpful & supportive as lots of us have.

@STom2 I hope everyone feels better soon. No tips to avoid I’m afraid except the usual , limiting exposure, washing hands, surfaces etc, easier said than done when it’s your household.

@MooBugz
De-cluttering is always a good idea! Our home is also quite small so we have to have regular clear outs.

I think the nesting has started, I just want to clean the kitchen and do laundry all the time🫣

We’ve started doing the nursery too. Just keeping it neutral, with some soft pastel accent colours , like we did with dd. I always found it a very calming room (even though dd never actually slept in there🤣) we played in there a lot though.

I had the routine 28 wk midwife appointment today - all good, except I’m measuring BIG.
I did mention to the MW that I feel like my stomach has grown considerably larger in the last 2 weeks and I’m feeling uncomfortable, she agreed I looked big for 7 months. I’m right at the top of the growth chart, so they have booked me in for a growth scan tomorrow. I had mild Polyhydramnios with dd, but it sorted itself out by week 34ish. MW suspects it could be that again, so we will find out tomorrow. At least we will get to
see him again!💚
Has anyone else had this before?

MooBugz · 10/11/2022 19:51

@Rubes1234 I managed to get a big wove cleared out which will no doubt be used for the baby clothes until I get into my
Normal wardrobe again. I've got two bags of clothes to put away in the loft so that was well worth the clearing!

@Hagster @OceanbreezeSun my nesting started months ago and I've slowly been driving my husband demented with tasks every week to get done which include repainting walls 🤣
I love the idea of a nice smelling clean home but I also am realistic with three kids there will always be toys and marked walls!
A good scented candle goes a long way though nothing like having my feet up at the end of the day with mellow vibes 🤓

OP posts:
OceanbreezeSun · 10/11/2022 20:25

@MooBugz I love a good scented candle. I bought one from Tk Maxx earlier in the week, it’s a Christmas one 🤭(never too early)

We moved house a few months ago so it’s been abit none stop with the diy, carpets, unpacking etc. It’s so nice to finally feel like it’s ‘done’ & we can just enjoy our home now.

drV · 10/11/2022 22:57

Thank you all for your welcome 💖

@STom2 stomach bug is an awful thing to happen! Hope you are feeling better now 🤗

Nesting did hit me hard a couple of weeks ago.. as this is my first baby, I did some clothes shopping and bought a couple of cuddly toys.. also decluttered few cupboards but then the tiredness started returning in haste 🤦 now I can barely get through chores and cooking.. Also I have nausea, which is concerning! I really don't want to revisit my first trimester symptoms 😬 has anybody been having troubles like this?!

My 25th week appointment with the MW is next Monday..I think I need to bring these issues up with her..

Lmcc88 · 11/11/2022 09:03

Morning guys!

I have loved the whole nesting/decluttering side of things! We have binned stuff/sold stuff and donated stuff it is actually making me think harder when buying for myself which is maybe a good thing? Definitely not when it comes to baby though this boy will have scratch mittens for days!

It was our due date yesterday for the lo we lost. We lit a candle and had a moment and a cry. It was hard to remember but wanted to do a little something to mark it. Everything seems to be going well with baby boy my appointments have went well and he’s active (kicking at the moment) but still find ourselves feeling a bit anxious that something might still go wrong!

Hope you guys are all doing ok! Seen comments about tummy bugs and flu! Can’t be easy on top of everything else and especially with toddlers at home

madeinthe80z · 11/11/2022 09:07

Hi @drV
I had morning sickness and nausea all the way up to 20 weeks ish then it finally subsided, but it does come back if I have overdone it or I'm really tired. There's also some trigger foods, like hot drinks. Also indigestion may be playing a part now so you could try a rennie or gaviscon when it hits!

I am kind of nesting, but to be honest, completely knackered with waking up with a toddler and toilet trips in the night and in the middle of an extension build so any tidying or arranging seems to be fruitless! I'm hoping for enough time on mat leave before baby arrives!

Has anyone else done literally nothing for new baby?! I haven't bought a single item of clothing or even planned in when I'm gonna pull everything down from the loft to see what's needed! There's a few things I want to buy so waiting till black friday. I want a baby carrier if anyone has any recommendations? I borrowed a material type one from the sling library with my daughter but I'd prefer my own and don't want it to be too complicated to put on 🤣

STom2 · 11/11/2022 09:25

So my DH and DS had the bug Tyesday and were fully recovered by Wedneaday morning. Thought I'd dodged it but it hit me at 1am that night. Spent entire day yesterday in bed. Still in bed as I am still getting sick. Not had anything other than sips of water for over 30 hours now. Total nightmare. I phoned hospital yesterday as I've clearly done some damage to my tummy as each time I'm sick it's very dark brown which indicates bleeding/torn stomach lining. Couple that with constant acid reflux when I lie down. Yuck. Been chewing rennies a lot. Really hoping it starts to subside today. DH has had to WFH and do 100% of childcare which must be incredibly difficult. I'm totally useless as basically every time I move (to go to bathroom), I throw up horrendously. Can still feel LO kicking but getting concerned about lack of food or fluids I'm taking in.

drV · 11/11/2022 09:31

@STom2 that's sounds horrible 🥺 so sorry you are feeling so unwell.. take care, hope you feel better soon!

Skylark1990 · 11/11/2022 09:41

Hey everyone, nice to hear how everyone is getting on! You're all getting quite close to babies coming now eek! How exciting.

@STom2 I am so sorry to hear about the tummy bug, that just sounds horrendous! Definitely get your tummy looked at - hopefully no serious tearing. Can you get some electrolytes in via those little sachets from the pharmacy that you mix with water? Or little sweets? Hope you start to feel better soon!!

I am 19 weeks today and feeling SO TIRED. I've had a busy couple of weeks of work, having to commute into London more than usual, and I think it's drained me plus maybe baby has been growing loads recently as I am now feeling them a lot more strongly which is nice. But man, I'm tired! Hoping to get a bit more energy back soon but it's hard to catch up and recoup when working and have a toddler and not sleeping that well etc!

I haven't bought anything either @madeinthe80z although appreciate I'm not as far along as you! I am also keen to check out black Fri and the Jan sales for the few items we need to get... we need a moses basket - for our DD we borrowed one, and can't borrow again this time. Annoying as we still have the made to measure mattress we bought for it 😂I like the look of the little green sheep one so hoping that goes on sale and we can get it for a bargain! 😍I think that's pretty much all we need though, will reuse everything we had for DD and still have all her clothes etc. Most of her newborn stuff was pretty gender neutral so work well for our surprise babe!

For carriers I would highly recommend the ergobaby 360, although this isn't great until baby is slightly bigger I think at least 8/10lbs. But after then it's wonderful. Also heard wonderful things about ring slings and that they're super easy to put on and off. The Little Frog ring sling has been recommended to me.

STom2 · 11/11/2022 09:51

I've progressed to sitting upright on the couch so this is a major milestone. Getting some much missed cuddles in with DS (who kept saying Mammy is sick with baby in her belly). Was trying to explain the two weren't related in case he held a grudge lol.

I've been quite good on the nesting this time (in terms of cleaning). Wanted to do it while I'd energy. I follow the Team TOMM (The Organised Mum Method) and have the app so I did the messy house bootcamp over a number of weekends and went declutter central.

Haven't bought anything for LO yet but did get a few newborn vests and onesies from Vinted. We're pretty sorted with most stuff as we bought new for DS and still have it all. I don't think I'll bother with moses basket again as DS pretty much only slept on us for first few weeks before we got him to sleep in his cosleeper. We had a sling and then moved to the ergobaby when he was bigger. Sling was great for around the house and managed a few breastfeeds on the go while he was in there. I'd some back trouble after DS so DH was actually great at using the sling etc too to take him out.

Skylark1990 · 11/11/2022 11:01

@STom2 glad you are feeling a bit better!! Oh yes, DD didn't sleep in the moses basket much either 😂we mostly contact napped or napped on the go in buggy/sling for the first few months, but I liked having the moses basket to put her down somewhere safe or for the odd nap. I liked that you could carry it around the house with you too.

I'd like to declutter but I get too attached to things 🙈

MooBugz · 11/11/2022 16:04

Oh dear flu and bug season is upon us it's everywhere. I'm just trying to avoid covid tbh! Also after booking my booster vaccine then decided after rational thinking by weighing all the options that I'm not going to go ahead with it.

@madeinthe80z i hadn't bought for baby until last week and caved with the noses basket bedding and some unisex babygrows. I'm waiting till Boxing Day sales to get some more little bits but usually just get as I go once baby is born and I know sex. Also we tend to get bombarded with clothing gifts so will hood out so there's not too much!

@Skylark1990 Lord help you sis, my tiredness is very much in full swing to the point I took a covid test yday! Definitely feel exhausted doing this 4th time round (5 counting miscarriage) but grateful to be preggers so just going with the flow.

@Lmcc88 that's a lovely way to mark the occasion 🕯 I my open it brought you some peace and that your enjoying your pregnancy now too.

Sending you all lots of positive vibes. We're getting there 🌈

I ended up in A&E this morning after a night of non stop vomiting and not keeping any fluids down. They told me to come in to get fluids for baby. Still pretty nauseous now but home (for now). Any if you ladies suffering with bad heartburn /acid reflux?? I'm finding I literally can't lie down at all. Even when I try loads of pillows. Appreciate its likely exacerbated by the days of vomiting but at my wits end now with not sleeping either.

drV · 12/11/2022 19:15

@STom2 oh dear, it sounds horrible😰 so sorry you are still feeling awful from the bug.. hope it gets better soon!

I do have a lot of heartburn, it gets worse after eating certain foods... I kind of have identified them and totally avoiding them.. just two nights ago I ate something and was sleepless whole night due to horrendous reflux and bloating.. no amount of Rennie/ omeprazole helped 🤦 now I have learnt my lesson and will not eat it again..

MooBugz · 12/11/2022 23:16

That's a shame @STom2 sounds like a horrid bug I hope you feel better soon.

I've had quite a bit of heartburn over the last week or so and when I lie down I can feel the reflux in my throat it's not a nice feeling at all. And I'm thinking this is it I'm stuck till the end with it now normally don't get it till a bit later on but hey ho what can I do. Love heart sweets help a little something about neutralising the acid I heard but not sure on the science of it!

If anyone has any tips for restless feet I'd be grateful 😫 sometimes it's as I go to bed or other times it'll be in the night when I wake up to pee but it's the most annoying feeling usually just one foot too.

I've tried iron tablets, massage and hot water bottles all of which give me temporary relief but my goodness I'm finding myself shaking them about in the night like a loony lol X

I had to spend two nights on the maternity ward last week with norovirus having fluids, and had terrible heartburn after getting home! It was the first time I'd had it this pregnancy and like you normally happens a lot later as I'm only 27 weeks. I was moaning to my husband about it and thinking it would be constant but reading your comment has made me realise it stopped after a few days, it must of been flared up by how sick I was. Hopefully you're the same!

Skylark1990 · 13/11/2022 16:39

So sorry to hear how sick you've been @STom2 and @doingitalllagain ! And the heartburn argh that's horrible too.
Rennie's and gaviscon help and if super severe you can get omeprazole prescribed it's safe in pregnancy. I'm actually on it ATM as my gastritis flared up so doctor said I should take it for a month and hopefully it helps my stomach lining heal. Omeprazole basically stops your stomach producing acid. Not good to be on it long term but short term can help!
I remember I had AWFUL heartburn with DD and I struggled through with gaviscon towards the end I found the chewy tablets nicer than the liquid.

@MooBugz restless legs can be a sign of calcium and or magnesium deficiency in pregnancy, so maybe you could try some magnesium/ calcium supplements and up your chocolate and milk/ yoghurt? Also Epsom salt baths are great as Epsom salts v high in magnesium.

Lots of info online but here is one webpage
