All good with scan! Another boy here 💙

Hagster · 04/10/2022 13:00

Congratulations @STom2, brilliant news! Really pleased it went well for you. How are you feeling?

STom2 · 04/10/2022 13:10

@Hagster Feeling well thanks! Quite the lively little chap in there. Did not stop fidgeting for the entire scan. So I expect once he's bigger my insides are going to be pummelled big time. 😄

MooBugz · 04/10/2022 13:45

Yay congrats @STom2 💙

Really nice to see everyone's scan outcome and general good positive vibes round here I feel like we've all crossed a big hurdle together ladies 🥲

We finally put an order in for our 7 seater yday so yes it's really happening! Feelin so good since the scan last week I'm all things baby now 🥰

@Skylark1990 I'll be doing what I do every time which is winging it 😅

@STom2 Congratulations on the great scan! Glad all is well. We found out we are having a boy too!💙

I will be 6 months next Monday - it’s abit scary how fast time is going tbh. We’ve started buying a few baby clothes, I forgot how teeny newborns are and it’s bringing back lovely memories.
He’s also a right kicker 🤣Sometimes uncomfortably so, but I’m happy to feel the kicking and shoving.

Dd was 8 lbs when she was born, long and slim though, rather then chunky, I’m thinking baby boy will be heavier?

OceanbreezeSun · 04/10/2022 16:16

@MooBugz oooo exciting, the 7 seater dream car! We definitely need a new car, but will need to wait till next Jan/Feb. Ours is a 5 seater but really only fits 4 comfortably. Sometimes struggle to get dd in her seat as we have to bend low.

STom2 · 04/10/2022 16:26

@oceanbreezesun You have a posterior placenta don't you, if I recall correctly? Reckon you're feeling those movements BIG Time 😄. Mine is anterior so they are still somewhat muted. Although even today after I got home I could still feel him wriggling around in there. Can only imagine what it's going to be like in 3rd trimester. I always joked DS1 was like my DH - very chilled and laid back, as he didn't move a huge amount and refused to move from an oblique breach position. Of course, the reality is he's the total opposite and has so much energy! So maybe this little DS will be super active in utero and then nice and chilled when born. One can hope anyway....haha 🙏

MooBugz · 04/10/2022 16:44

@OceanbreezeSun I drive a passat right now and I live my car will be sorry to see it go but can't get three seats in the back together and even though the law says over 3 can go without belt if there's no space I don't feel like I can do that so hence why pushed the boat out with the 7 seater. We went for a kodiaq so still looks ok I was hating the look of 7!seaters they just ooze family car uncoolness lol.

@STom2 mine is also anterior so I've not felt much just rumblings here and there. Pretty sure I just have had the opposite before as I'm sure at this stage I was feeling a lot more! It's interesting how different each pregnancy can be.

Look at all the team boys in here! We'll need to keep in touch after to see what the final tally with boys v girls is haha

To everyone discussing births- I also had an EMCS with DS after three days of induction and a whole night of contractions not really going anywhere. I'm 99% going for Elective because honestly I'm scared of something going wrong with VBaC and I actually had a positive experience with my recovery.

I basically want baba out soon as possible to save my anxiety. I'm hoping to get a late 38 weeks date due to other various reasons.

RedElleJ · 04/10/2022 18:12

Congrats @STom2 amazing news…I had a wriggler too but can’t wait to feel more regular movements, even if it does mean getting battered around a bit 😂 bet I’ll regret saying that.

wondering if anyone can reassure me - I have really felt much of little one since the scan on Friday. I felt her in the evening that night but don’t think I’ve had anything since. My placenta is anterior, this is my first and I’ll be 20 weeks on Monday. Do you reckon she’s just moved a little and now I can’t feel her? Anyone remember with their firsts when they first started feeling little on regularly?

I also feel mega tired at the moment - I am hoping she’s just growing and that’s why I’m tired, rather than something to worry about x

MooBugz · 04/10/2022 18:43

@RedElleJ Indint really remember when I started feeling with my first but did few like I should have felt more movement by now. But I put that down to the anterior placenta and baby is still small right now too no doubt in time you will feel the movements more often and find a pattern to them.

Re the tiredness I'm glad you said that I thought I was getting lazy I seem to be so tired lately and even when I sleep a good 7hours straight I still wake up tired 😳

OP posts:
STom2 · 04/10/2022 18:52

@RedElleJ I didn't feel movements regularly with DS until after 22 weeks. I didn't even feel anything that resembled little kicks until after then. I know this specifically as my anomaly scan was at 21+5 and I was still barely feeling occasional bubbles at that stage.

For your first this is absolutely normal. They're still small. I am nearly 21 weeks with my second and I still don't have regular or strong movements. To my knowledge they don't advise kick counting until after 24 weeks. I assume this is due to size etc before this point.

Hagster · 04/10/2022 20:16

@RedElleJ I've got an anterior placenta this time and when compared to my previous with a posterior placenta I've been feeling it a lot less. Some days I don't know if I've felt anything, and I'm 21 weeks now. I think they say that until 24-28 weeks it can be unpredictable.

WonderWoop · 04/10/2022 21:28

20w scan here today and confirmed a little boy (had harmony test so we knew but wanted to check on screen!)

All well with scan and feels very real now. Halfway is a major milestone but I'm exhausted at the moment and work is a nightmare so February still feels like a lifetime away. Attempting to potty train DD this weekend too, I really could do with some wine or gin to get me through that!!!

RedElleJ · 05/10/2022 07:13

Thanks for the reassurance ladies - think I felt a little flutter this morning. Good to hear that I’ve still got some time to wait before things become more regular and obvious. Definitely not lazy @MooBugz - I normally get 8-9 hours and feel really good on that but an hour into the day right now and I’m like, okay that’s me done 🤣

congrats @WonderWoop - it really is amazing to see the positivity here at the moment. Good luck with the potty training 🤞🏻

Hagster · 05/10/2022 07:15

Congratulations @WonderWoop, that's brilliant news! And another boy for the group (even though you knew). 20 week scan is such a huge milestone.

Totally know what you're meaning about Feb feeling really far. I feel like I'm working so hard to not just mentally check out of work. I'm going on mat leave quite early so I'm hoping to just make it to mid Jan!

Good luck with potty training, may the odds be ever in your favour.

STom2 · 05/10/2022 08:08

Congrats @WonderWoop! I really need to research this 3 day potty training everyone is talking about.

@skylark1990 Is your 13 week scan today or tomorrow??

STom2 · 05/10/2022 08:10

On the 3 day training- anyone have any recommendations on what worked for them? I've just googled and there's a tonne of books and sites that came up.

Gamergirl84 · 05/10/2022 08:15

Oh man, potty training 😫 I think I'm going to wait until Christmas so I can take all the advice from you guys who have done it by then! Still don't think my DS is quite ready yet, he can't pull his trousers down yet and jm not convinced he knows where his wee comes from lol.

Well done on a little boy @WonderWoop !
20 weeks feels like a huge hurdle and I can't belive we've all got here 😁

@Skylark1990 good luck for your scan!

STom2 · 05/10/2022 11:16

@Gamergirl84 My DS will absolutely pull his trousers down. That's part of the problem. I have to put a vest/bodysuit on him + trousers that tie at the waist to stop his sticking hands in his nappy. Yesterday he worked out going down the inside of his vest (stretching it beyond recognition), the down the trousers waistband, to pull his todger up out of his pull up nappy. I don't know whether to to despair or applaud his determination. I was planning to wait until Xmas also but I also need to research that 3 day method to see what might work.

WonderWoop · 05/10/2022 23:17

Thank you all @STom2 @Gamergirl84 @Hagster @RedElleJ both for the kind words on the 20w scan and for the potty training encouragement!

DD is 3 at Christmas so should be ready really but this will be my third attempt!! Have to nail it this time as she moves nursery class soon and they want her potty trained. If I succeed I'll share any tips... my optimism is low 😂

I have the oh crap potty training book but I won't manage to read it before Saturday so will just have to wing it! Smarties and stickers is my plan...

Skylark1990 · 06/10/2022 12:57

Thanks for the luck @Gamergirl84 !

Scan went well and baby is measuring ahead so I'm 13+6 today 🥰 was lovely to see the little one.

Awww congrats @Skylark1990 - amazing post holiday news 🎉

Has anyone got any recommendations for maternity jeans? I do prefer a skinny jean too. Not been drawn to much I’ve seen online at the moment though.

OceanbreezeSun · 06/10/2022 20:51

Yay! Congrats @Skylark1990 lovely scan pic too ❤️

@STom2 Yes, I have a posterior placenta this time around so feeling a lot of movement and kicks, much more then I did with dd.
I don’t think I felt proper movement with dd till about week 23/24, if I remember correctly. I also had to go into the mat unit a couple of times for monitoring as I sometimes didn’t feel her kicking all day (this was later on in the pregnancy though)
Last night I woke up with the worse trapped wind, I think ds was leaning on something, as soon as I turned onto my other side, it felt much better 😳😂

@WonderWoop congratulations on the scan! 💙

Re: potty training, I read the Oh Crap book too. Found it very useful but didn’t follow to a tee. Dd was definitely ready and showing an interest which helped. She didn’t like being bare bottomed though, like the book suggests. Dd liked wearing her knickers and pulling them up and down herself etc.
I did it over 4 days, didn’t leave the house & never went back to nappies in the day. Did as the book suggested and said ‘bye’ to the nappies but explained that there were no nappies left in the shops anymore 🤣 Couldn’t do big long trips out for the first month as dd wouldn’t do a wee anywhere else except her mini toilet potty, she would hold it in for hours otherwise, then do the toilet dance.

@MooBugz I have no idea what car we’d get tbh! Hey, nothing wrong with the big 7 seater family car, they can still be cool 🤣
Just don’t put those eyelash stickers on the lights, like my mum did 😩
