Baby brain at its finest.. I left my engine on when I parked on a main road outside my work today. And it didn't get stolen. I think I have the rain to thank for it since it was chucking it down so bad nobody could see if anyone was inside. But damn. That's a first! 4 hours! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Been there! When I was pregnant with my son I left my keys in the ignition all day in a city centre, went to the vets and forgot to bring my dog. This time around I keep coming home and finding my house keys in my front door still! Good thing I live rurally Grin

MooBugz · 30/09/2022 16:19

@doingitalllagain went to the vets and forgot to bring the dog 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's made my day and feel better about my measly 4 hours haha! Although I did also leave my front door unlocked after my last post when I went to pick my son up from school.

Had a shower and now in my jammies calling it a day for now 🤣

Hey guys! My scan went really well too! No concerns at all healthy heart and all looks good!

baby would not uncross legs! I had to walk up and down stairs 3 different times! Jump around drink ice cold water! Finally after 45 minutes baby stretched out and we found out that we are having a baby boy!

Congrats @Gamergirl84 - glad all went well ☺️

We had a really good experience at our scan today - all was well and found out we are having a girl.

I do have to go back at 32 weeks as my placenta is low so hopefully that moves up as the weeks progress.

OceanbreezeSun · 30/09/2022 20:54

@Gamergirl84 @MooBugz @RedElleJ @Lmcc88 hope I’ve not missed anyone off! big congratulations to you all! So lovely to hear all is well❤️

Also laughing at your baby brain moments!

Does anyone else feel like their stomach feels uncomfortably stretched in the evening?
I remember this happening with dd, the midwife said it could be Braxton Hicks. The thing, it doesn’t feel like mini contractions or of that ilk, it doesn’t come and go, it stays like this for about 2 hours…I guess it could be from eating too much at tea time? I tend to eat light for breakfast and lunch, perhaps I over indulge 🤣

doingitalllagain · 30/09/2022 21:02

Ahhh so many amazing 20 week scans. We're getting closer ❤️ congrats everyone xx

MooBugz · 30/09/2022 21:02

Congrats @RedElleJ @Lmcc88 🥳🥳 happy to hear and see the scans really getting me excited!

@OceanbreezeSun I've only had that feeling on evenings where I have ate more than I should have and it's a full feeling and can get quite uncomfortable. Might just be the food and baby fighting over tummy space lol

Congrats on the scans today everyone.

That's one boy, one girl and a surprise by my count!!

STom2 · 30/09/2022 22:33

@RedElleJ and @lmcc88 Congrats on the amazing scans today as well!! Loving all the positive vibes in this thread atm. They've been a long time coming!

Skylark1990 · 01/10/2022 07:21

Awww congratulations @MooBugz @Gamergirl84 @RedElleJ @Lmcc88 !! Such wonderful news. So excited for you all. Yay a boy, a girl and two surprises 🥰

I'm still so tempted to find out but we have decided on a surprise. Although I'm v good with nub theory so I will probably be able to tell at the 13 week scan! 🙈 But having a bit of a surprise will still be exciting, and it's more for DH as that's what he wants.

Looks like we have escaped covid this time 🤞🤞 unless it comes in next few days but hoping not. Been v emotional, and DH and I been bickering which is so annoying as we are on holiday but I guess it's been stressful. Hoping the last few days here will be good. Got my 13 week scan next Thurs.

MooBugz · 01/10/2022 10:09

That's great news @Skylark1990 glad to hear you've escaped it I'm sure you would have been fine even if you did have it but I can appreciate the anxiety and stress behind it having been in pretty much same situation ♥️ we must be the lucky ones to have escaped it when everyone around had it the second time! My anxiety was in overdrive at the time and I was a hot mess crying all over the place so I get it. Not long till scan day for you now!

Morning Ladies,

Hope everyone is feeling good for the week ahead. I can't remember who has scans this week but good luck to you all :)

I just had a quick question this morning. I had a hot bath last night and didn't really think much of it. I was having some chill time so had a candle lit, did some skin scare, etc. It wasn't until I got out that I remembered you aren't supposed to have a bath over a certain temperature and so I am slightly concerned. It wasn't sweltering, and from what I could tell (in my candle lit bathroom) it didn't change the colour of my skin. I certainly felt toasty afterwards but I wasn't sweating or uncomfortably hot.

Obviously I won't be so forgetful next time and maybe I'll just stick with a shower but I just wondered if anyone can calm my nerves a bit here and reassure me that I haven't done anything silly to hurt little squish? I know that getting too hot in the first 12 weeks can cause neural tube defects but I read that at any point it can cause issues with development so in a bit of a panic.

Wouldn't it be nice, if there weren't so many rules we had to remember?

RedElleJ · 03/10/2022 09:52

Skin care* not scare haha!

STom2 · 03/10/2022 11:22

@RedElleJ I checked this with my midwife at booking appointment. Don't worry. I have a bath every week (continuation of something I've done since DS was born). My midwife said totally fine. Baby's temperature is approximately 1 degree warmer than yours. The concern about having it too hot is more to do with it making mother feel faint. I've had baths like this pre pregnancy (where they've been so hot I've had pins and needles). I'm still having nice warm baths but nowhere near this level of hot (ie I feel fine getting back out again). So I wouldn't worry.

RedElleJ · 03/10/2022 11:27

Awww that is brilliant - thanks @STom2 I know what you mean I have had baths (pre-pregnancy) where I have felt a bit dizzy after (sucker for a hot bath) but yeah it certainly wasn't that hot!
Thanks so much :)

STom2 · 03/10/2022 11:35

No worries! If anything my midwife said with it coming into autumn/Winter having a nice bath is good for us. Relaxing! I find with the back pain etc it helps.

I was so paranoid about everything when pregnant with DS (including baths, skincare, paracetamol, caffeine, nasal sprays etc etc etc), so I've made sure I always go to my appointments this time around armed with the questions about what is/isn't advisable. Even when I think they might silly questions I don't care! They always take each question seriously. So I feel much more relaxed this time and don't sweat the small stuff. Obviously I still have the usual constant concerns about movements etc 😄!

Hagster · 03/10/2022 12:01

Hello all! I've been on the quiet for a few weeks as I've just been trying to keep my head down. Have just tried to catch up with the thread, glad everyone is doing ok, it's so lovely to read how you're getting on.

We had our 20 week scan today, I was unbelievably nervous, just felt like it would be our luck for it to go wrong. But baby is all looking as it should and we found out we are having a girl!

doingitalllagain · 03/10/2022 12:59

Is anyone trying to pick between VBAC and ELCS? I had an EMCS with my son and would prefer to avoid that again. I'm really in two minds, ELCS seems the 'safe' option in that I'd know when he's coming and I've done it before and I know the process/recovery but part of me feels like I should try for a VBAC, just scared of all of the many things that can go wrong and are totally out of your control during vaginal birth! Blush

Congrats on the rest of the scans and healthy babies ❤️

MooBugz · 03/10/2022 14:45

@doingitalllagain I'm having the same dilemma, had an ELCS with my last pregnant as my son before had left me with a 3rd degree tear and didn't want to risk it again if there was a chance of Incontinence. Having said that my daughter via section turned out smaller out all my children and I found recovery so long and hard so having to decide which to go for. Feeling towards a natural birth right now but have a scan at 30 weeks to check size of baby and will probably decide at that point.

It's hard isn't it both have pros and cons I guess you just need to make a decision and run with it and hope for the best 😳 what are you thinking?

STom2 · 03/10/2022 15:09

Congrats @hagster on your positive scan and the news of your little girl!I've my scan tomorrow morning and am equally dreading it. Particularly as I'm going alone.

@doingitalllagain I'm trying to make that decision also. TBH I've been leaning toward ELCS from the get go for a couple reasons. My recovery from last ELCS was very smooth. I was pretty mobile within a couple of days, my scar is barely visible and healed up very nicely with no further issue. Plus I know exactly what to expect. Appreciate it will be harder with a toddler this time, but with DS we weren't allowed any visitors etc so I'm hoping if I have a planned CS this time my DM can arrange to be here for a few days to help look after DS. A part of me is still contemplating VBAC (mainly as I plan on this being my last baby and I kind of want to experience the proper labour process?). But I'm a bit of an anxious person by nature (love planning), so I kind of feel that a 75% success rate with VBAC still leaves a big enough margin for ending up with emergency CSection. Also uncertain whether I could hack it with proper labour if I'm honest. But my concern here is not my own pain, but that that I'd get a bit panicked (particularly if they were telling me baby's heart rate was dropping etc).

MooBugz · 03/10/2022 16:24

Congrats on finding out your having a baby girl @Hagster and good luck with your scan tomorrow @STom2 ♥️

I think we all had the dread the night before the scan and the day of didn't we! Can't wait to hear all X

Skylark1990 · 03/10/2022 17:27

Congrats @Hagster that's wonderful news and best of luck for tomorrow @STom2 ! Are you finding out the sex?

@MooBugz if it helps at all, I spoke to my midwife about this as I also had a third degree tear (3b) with DD. I have not had incontinence and it healed up nicely with vagina / bum physio 😂😂 and scar massage. I queried if they'd offer me or advise a section this time, and she said no not if I don't have any longer lasting issues from the tear - which I don't. I defo don't want a section so it's an easy decision for me but just thought I'd mention as if you were / are ok after the previous 3rd degree tear, you should be ok having a vaginal birth. I've looked into it and being upright and mobile during birth, breathing baby out or slow pushing rather than coached strained pushing, plus doing lots of keggles plus perenium massage before labour all helps a lot with avoiding another bad tear / or a tear at all if it's first time round!

@RedElleJ that bath sounds totally fine, my midwife said baths are fine and can even be a little hotter if we like that (although not like scorching) as as soon as the water hits the tub it starts cooling down. This is why hot tubs aren't good, the temp stays same but with a bath it's cooling down and so we less likely to overheat. If you felt fine and not faint, baby will be fine. I definitely had nice warm baths with DD. Haven't yet with this one as have been too sick in the evenings.

MooBugz · 03/10/2022 20:18

Thanks @Skylark1990 I did have that convo with my midwife last time but because it was during covid I never felt reassured as it was very basic and hurried chats on the phone and just not the same. I was really conflicted to the very end and one midwife then had said to me very honestly that if I was her daughter I would have said go with a section and so I did. I don't regret it every birth method has its hard bits. And I recovered well from the tear but only had issues with gas 💨 lol and still do to a certain extent haha can't help it sometimes if a fart escapes 🙈

Perineum massage I'm not keen on but fine with the exercises and breathing etc so I'll see nearer the time I do think chances are I'll wing it with another natural unless I lose my bottle and decide to be organised!

WonderWoop · 03/10/2022 22:25

I'm planning an ELCS after EMCS with DD.

EMCS followed three days of labour with only gas and air and failed water birth. I know what labour feels like and have no desire to feel it again 😂

But more seriously, after the last experience I don't want to put myself through something to only end in EMCS. I might as well go straight to ELCS, which from what I've heard and read tends to be easier to recover from than EMCS and I guess you're not as knackered as haven't been through the labour to end in the operating theatre. That said, I was fortunate with my EMCS recovery.

Skylark1990 · 04/10/2022 08:42

@MooBugz ah yes totally understand why you opted for a c section last time. And like you say no right or wrong we just need to do what feels best. Hoping you can have a lovely easy natural birth this time if that's what you want!

@WonderWoop your labour sounds similar to mine, I was in labour for nearly four days but did end up having a vaginal birth. It's gruelling when it's such a long labour! Totally get going for a CS again. ❤️
