My son turned 3 a couple of months ago and was out of nappies the same week. I introduced a potty at 2 but to be honest I didn't try that hard and apart from suggesting it every now and then left him to his own devices. He went through phases of using it a lot and then not using it at all. When he turned 3 he was about to start half days in school so I thought I better try a bit harder so we bought him some paw patrol pants and told him if he wants to wear them he needs to use the toilet, he put them on straight away and has used the toilet ever since. Only ever had a handful of accidents. Don't think I'll bother with a potty this time around and will just use the toilet!

STom2 · 28/09/2022 10:00

@gamergirl84 Our DS are very close in age. We were actually planning on doing the same - over Xmas when DH here so we can properly focus. I know people have tried the letting them run around naked when it's summer but that approach just left me mopping up a lot of pee stains. We're all one floor too so DS just runs and jumps on my bed etc when nude. So pee on my bed, carpet etc 😄. He's shown exact same signs as your DS (hiding to poop). But doesn't actively communicate beforehand that he needs to go. I mainly want it done because of him constantly pulling at his nappy or trying to get his todger out of his nappy. So many leaks. Won't be ideal juggling multiple clothing changes/clean ups on top of all the outfit changes/clean ups that come with a newborn.

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 10:40

Thanks @STom2 @Gamergirl84 @doingitalllagain

That's great he's dry now @doingitalllagain ! Yes I wonder if maybe we will have better results when she's older but she is showing signs she's ready...

So yes she hides when she does a poo and often tells us once we has, or she tells us before she does it. We don't have any Comms on wees though haha. Yesterday she pooed on the floor twice and weed loads of times on the floor / sofa. We are in an apartment ground floor with garden and it's hot in Spain so yes basically letting her run around naked. I did put a nappy on her towards the end of the day as I was too tired to keep monitoring it haha. Think she did one wee on the toilet. We basically been asking her loads if she needs to go, putting her on the toilet to see, and when she does wee or poo we take her to the toilet and sit her on it and ask if she needs to do more. I watched a YouTube video about potty training in 3 days so trying to follow that a bit, I also have the gentle potty training book but haven't resd it all.
She was nappy free this morning and didn't have any accidents, but we put a nappy on her when we came out to the beach... I'm just hoping she starts to get that she should go on toilet before the wee or poo 😅 we have a potty and also a toilet attachment.

Did anyone feel like they maybe felt baby around 13 weeks? I swear I've felt baby a couple times... It kinda feels like water swishing about movements down low...

STom2 · 28/09/2022 12:22

@Skylark1990 Yes, I did! At 12 weeks. Thought I was mental but genuinely felt occasional light movement every few days from this point. I think it's as we know what to look put for. My movements were quite low in ly pelvis which is where uterus was located at that point I think!

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 14:06

@STom2 Oh yes I meant to say 12 weeks 😂 as I am 12+2! It's so hard to know if I'm imagining it or its something else but I do feel I've felt him or her a couple times yes! I can't wait to feel more regularly.

@MooBugz sorry I didn't reply to your message did I? Thank you 💞 I really hope we dodge it or if we catch it it's all ok. Feeling a bit reassured hearing about other women getting it in first trimester and being totally fine 🙏💕

MooBugz · 28/09/2022 14:24

Hi all!

Can't remember who started the toilet training chat but my daughter turned two in august and we'll probably look at starting her training towards the end of the year. My son was trained fairly quickly and we waited till he was 3 and could understand fully and used a paw patrol sticker reward chart for pees and poops!

Had my scan today and Al was looking fab so I'm one happy cheaply today I think I'll finally relax from now onwards too as it's a big milestone from where it stopped last time so pos vibes only from now on from me
I hope!

Also had bought hubby a ps5 which I'll give him today to mark the occasion haha. He's been looking at one for a while and He's been the best support through all the hard times bless him in a lucky lady and so grateful for everything today.

Hope your all doing good and good luck to everyone with scans this week xx

@MooBugz dude I'm so pleased for you and baba but honestly I'm SO ENVIOUS of your hubs ps5! 😁 We've made the decision that we cant justify one before baba is born but maaaaan, I want one so much!!

MooBugz · 28/09/2022 18:56

Haha @Gamergirl84 I'll no doubt be regretting getting it after a few days when he starts displaying the homeless look from not being able to peel away from the thing!

Oh I also found out I have an anterior placenta this time round so that eased my paranoia about not feeling so much movement too 😎

STom2 · 29/09/2022 15:56

@MooBugz congratulations on the great scan! I'm still counting down to next Tuesday morning. Will be going alone also. Although I went to the theatre last night and was getting some nice little kicks throughout so that was reassuring. LO was either thinking "this singing is amazing" or "WTF is going on out there" 😄

STom2 · 29/09/2022 16:30

For those with toddlers - any recommendations on books to get them to get them used to idea of a baby arrival/the fact there's a baby in mummy's belly? My DS isn't grasping it and still loves trying to use me as a human bouncy castle 😆 He's big into trains etc so has never had any interest in teddies or dolls. So can't really demonstrate with those I don't think.

Gamergirl84 · 29/09/2022 16:56

@STom2 im in the same situation. How old is your DS?
I have two books which he's basically ignored and he LOVES books so no t sure how helpful I'm being 😆

'There's a House in My Mummy'
'Waiting for Baby's
Both I got from Amazon

STom2 · 29/09/2022 16:59

@gamergirl84 Ours are similar age I think. Mine will be 2 in early Nov. He likes books but some very specific ones at the moment (mostly as they revolve around buses and trains). Maybe that's an avenue I need to go down 😄

Gamergirl84 · 29/09/2022 17:07

@STom2 yes they are! Mine is 2 on Monday.

I really tried to find one with flaps because he loves anything with a flap! But same on the trains and cars. He doesn't understand at all when DH and I talk about having a new baby or ask him if he wants to be a big brother- he simply does not get it. He will though, when we bring baby home. And using language around him like baby and brother will help in the long run.

STom2 · 29/09/2022 17:11

@gamergirl84 I fashioned a quick (slightly terrifying) baby out of playdough and he carried that about for a bit calling it "baby" and giving it kisses. But the limbs kept falling off. I clearly need to start with a better prop 😄 Just tried to explain again about a baby in my belly and being gentle. End result was him laughing his head off blowing raspberries on my big belly....

Gamergirl84 · 29/09/2022 18:19

@STom2 oh man I can only imagine the carnage 😆 Mine has a doll he likes to tuck in for bed (under an old pillow case) and gives it hugs but tends to throw it by the head rather viciously when he's done.

20 wk scan tomorrow and actually really nervous. We haven't had a good/clear scan yet so I'm not certain there isn't something major wrong with baba.

Luckily it's 10am so won't have to wait long.

STom2 · 29/09/2022 19:48

Oh best of luck with the scan @gamergirl84!! Do let us know how you get on. x

MooBugz · 29/09/2022 21:45

All the best for the scan tomorrow @Gamergirl84 ♥️

I'm definitely feeling some kicky movements today. Feel so much more relaxed since ydays scan and hope you all have the same relief when it's your turn 😊

Hi guys!

sorry I haven’t checked in for a while! Hope everyone is doing ok!

good luck for scan today @Gamergirl84 i have mine later on too! Excited and nervous! Hoping we find out if we’re having a boy or a girl some hospitals around us aren’t telling people as they’ve gotten it wrong and gotten sued …. Fingers crossed

Gamergirl84 · 30/09/2022 10:55

@Lmcc88 @MooBugz @STom2 thanks! Scan went really well, organs all in the right place and two little hands and two little feet. Measuring a few days behind but apparently nothing to worry about.
And at last a picture which resembles a baby!

@gamergirl84 Amazing news! Sure that's all you want. The good bill of health. I'd say at this stage a few days here or there make little difference. Are you keeping the sex a surprise? I'm so impatient honestly. While I'm super nervous about the scan going okay from a health perspective there's also a part of me excited to finally find out. Anyone else feel like they've been pregnant forever?! Especially with recent losses beforehand.

Lmcc88 · 30/09/2022 11:53

Aw look at the little bub! @Gamergirl84 so happy for you

Gamergirl84 · 30/09/2022 13:12

Good luck for later @Lmcc88 !
@STom2 we're keeping it a surprise 🙂🙌

MooBugz · 30/09/2022 14:07

@Gamergirl84 🙊 awww lovely! We're keepin a surprise too although we did almost cave 🤣

Glad it went well!

@Lmcc88 your turn!

So excited that we are at the stage we can allow ourselves some excitement about it.

@STom2 I feel like I've been pregnant forever but at the same time feel like how ar wwe halfway through already 😬

Baby brain at its finest.. I left my engine on when I parked on a main road outside my work today. And it didn't get stolen. I think I have the rain to thank for it since it was chucking it down so bad nobody could see if anyone was inside. But damn. That's a first! 4 hours! 🤦🏽‍♀️
