@MamaOh I think Quenby will say to take progesterone till 16 weeks and if you tell the clinic you're pregnant now, they could possibly prescribe it to you sooner than your appointment, have you mentioned you are pregnant yet? They're so lovely there. But good you have some for now anyway. I'm on it till 16 weeks through both Coventry and my local EPU. Are you local to Coventry? I'm a little way away but it's not too far 😊

@Marshmallowmountain sorry to hear about the spotting, it's most likely not a bad sign but good to get it checked out! ❤️Also which trashy book are you reading?? I need a recommendation.... So if anyone else has one also send my way! It's all I want to be doing ATM, I'd love to be absorbed in a book right now. I read novels a lot and have recently read some brilliant, addictive ones and finding it hard to find one of same calibre! Excited for the new Robert Galbraith coming out end of August tho! For anyone who likes Marian Keyes, her new book Again, Rachel is really good. Very sad tho, and talks about baby loss, which was strange to read in early pregnancy and very affecting obviously and could be triggering. But it's a great book. Recommend!

@chasingtherainbow1 congratulations, so happy for you! How many weeks are you? Xx

hopeful2023 · 23/08/2022 20:00

Hey everyone, nice to hear lots of promising starts in this thread and wishing you all to have successful pregnancies <3

Tentatively joining. I had a promising private scan at 6+2, with the baby measuring exactly right from when I ovulated.

But I have been lightly spotting since a couple of days before the scan and it was slightly heavier and brown when I wiped this morning. TTC for 2 years, 2x chemical pregnancies this year, and no symptoms, so I have v little hope.

Trying to wait it out as I don’t have any pain and I know EPU will tell me to wait and see at this stage, but if it gets any heavier I will call.

Early pregnancy is really doing a number on my mental health - I’m struggling to leave the house at the moment because I’m worried it will make the bleeding worse.

I’m also taking low dose aspirin which I bought myself after the 2x chemicals, but haven’t been able to get a prescription for any progesterone.

Marshmallowmountain · 23/08/2022 20:03

@Skylark1990 how funny, I actually just finished Rachel’s holiday, so I decided to start at the beginning of the Walsh family series and am currently reading Watermelon which is about her older sister.

reading is such a good form of escapism!

Skylark1990 · 23/08/2022 20:05

@hopeful2023 welcome. I'm sorry to hear you're having an anxious time, when was your scan ? Really good you saw a heartbeat. ❤️

Re progesterone, it's national guidance now through the NICE guidelines that all women who have had 2 or more previous miscarriages (chemicals count as mc) should be given progesterone in a subsequent pregnancy if spotting or bleeding - 400mg twice a day until 16 weeks pregnant. So I would ask your hospital/ GP to prescribe asap, there really is no excuse not to- I'm so sorry you've struggled to get it so far! It's not fair at all. Have you need tested for clotting disorders? Because aspirin thins the blood and can cause bleeding issues if it's not needed so do be careful with that. X

Marshmallowmountain · 23/08/2022 20:05

@hopeful2023 that sounds positive and fingers crossed for you the spotting isn’t an issue. Will you have another private scan do you think? Everything crossed for you.

Skylark1990 · 23/08/2022 20:07

@Marshmallowmountain ahhh great, they're such good books! I've read all the Walsh family books except for Angels. Maybe I should read that! It's about Margaret who seems the slightly.more boring sister 😂 Again, Rachel is the sequel to Rachel's Holiday but good to read all the others first as there's defo spoilers for all the other sisters as it's set when they're in their 40s :)

hopeful2023 · 23/08/2022 20:21

@Skylark1990 my scan was only 3 days ago so I know there is still time for things to go wrong, even though it was a positive scan.

Thank you for the info - hadn’t realised about the progesterone guidelines so will follow up on it.

I’m second guessing the aspirin now - I got pregnant within 2 weeks of my last chemical and the GP wasn’t showing much interest so I panicked as was desperate not to have another. Now I’ve started taking it I don’t know if it will cause more problems to stop.

I know there’s not much that can be done physically once a MC has started but I think there’s so much more support needed to protect mental health in early pregnancy, especially for those of us who have experienced losses.

Wishing you lots of luck for your scan next week 🍀

Planning to have another private scan at 8+2 (unless the bleeding gets heavier before then and I’ll call EPU). I think if that scan goes well despite the spotting it will be what I need to feel a bit calmer.

It looks like you’ve had a similar experience with spotting following a chemical and I’ve read lots of examples of it turning out completely fine - hope everything goes well for you.

Chocolat · 23/08/2022 21:06

Lovely scan pictures everyone, so nice to see 🥰. Also this thread moves so fast 😂
Feeling unwell and nauseous tonight 🤢

chasingtherainbow1 · 23/08/2022 21:24

Thanks guys. Relieved but now worries about the next one 😂

@Skylark1990 I'm 7w5d might get another scan at around 10 weeks see how it's going

Wouldloveanother · 23/08/2022 21:51

Lovely to hear of more good scan results 🥰

sat watching house of dragons and trying not to think about how grotty/sick I feel. Snacking all the time is leaving me feeling really bloated and lethargic but it’s my only option if I don’t want to feel nauseated and acid-y. Still waking every 2 hours so although I’m getting 8ish hours it’s broken up into a few chunks 😕 and everything still smells horrible. Bring on second trimester!

Tropicana1 · 23/08/2022 22:19

@Wouldloveanother I'm so reflux-y too, and have literally been eating dry crackers all day which has given me major bloat

Hello! Joining you Grin.

First baby due end April. Feels so surreal that it's actually happening (hopefully).

Dreading fatigue and nausea and giving up some of my selfish treats!

alwaysseeingstars · 24/08/2022 09:12

@chasingtherainbow1 oh congrats, that's exciting and reassuring re the lack of symptoms!

@Tropicana1 oh gosh, sorry you had such a rough labour.. fingers crossed for a better one this time!

@Wouldloveanother I was watching house of dragons the other night, forgot how much I loved GOT 😂

@IvyAurora @hopeful2023 welcome and congrats 😊

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 09:20

@alwaysseeingstars i probably shouldn’t have watched it given my current condition and the horror birth scene 😱

A really grim night. Woke at 4am and threw up. Nibbled a few biscuits to try to settle my stomach and threw those up as well. And again this morning. Gone from just nausea to vomiting 5 times in the space of 24 hours. I really hope waking to vomit doesn’t become a ‘thing’, my sleep is bad enough as it is 😞

the only thing that helps is a yoghurt drink, which seems to soothe my stomach. I’m going to have to tell work as I desperately need a few days off, I just can’t cope like this.

hol92 · 24/08/2022 09:24

Hi all :) hope you don’t mind me joining, I had a private scan at nearly 9 weeks on Monday and ended up being dated back a few days so she’s estimating the very end of March/start of April :)
my Nausea has recently settled a bit and more comes in waves rather than constant all day!

@Wouldloveanother hahah I know, DH was like 'what?! you're going to go through THAT?!' well no dear, hopefully not - I like to think things have progressed a little since then!! 🙄
Sorry you're suffering so badly with the sickness, really hope it settles down soon!

SavedByGraceAlone · 24/08/2022 09:49

@hol92 Congratulations! Beautiful scan :)

@Marshmallowmountain and @hopeful2023 I've been spotting a little bit with light pink for a couple of days, accompanied by pretty constant period-like cramps. Terrifying. Called my EPU yesterday and they agreed to scan me on the same day (they know me well there due to 4 previous MCs and no children).

I thought I was about 6+2, so really hoped to see a little heartbeat. They saw the sac in the right place and a teeny-weeny embryo (measuring 1.7mm only) with a 'very faint' heartbeat. We weren't sure what to make of it! Could see what I thought was clearly a flicker, but the doctor said it's quite small and faint. BUT she also said it's probably okay as I might just me dating a few days behind. Booked to come back in a couple of weeks. She said I might spot some more in the meantime and hopefully it just goes away by itself...

Spotting and cramping stopped in the meantime and am feeling okay today. Am also on progesterone (although it didnt prevent me from miscarrying last time) and now on 75mg aspirin for the first time.

Hope your spotting settles ladies and all our little blobs stick!

Marshmallowmountain · 24/08/2022 10:11

@SavedByGraceAlone i think that sounds good?? How long have you been on progesterone?
I called my EPU and they said they’re busy and can’t help me at the moment as I’m only 5+1. I asked about progesterone but they said that’s only once they’ve seen a pregnancy in uterus on a scan, and I’m too early for that I guess.

I was due to start IVF and actually have a tonne of progesterone so I’m tempted to just start using it but also scared 😔

LauraA31 · 24/08/2022 10:17

@IvyAurora hello!
I joined the forum yesterday, im also due first baby at the end of April! 🙂
Super nervous and keeping everything crossed we have a successful healthy pregnancy!

SavedByGraceAlone · 24/08/2022 10:20

@Marshmallowmountain I've started taking progesterone (Cyclogest 400mg twice a day) from the day I found out I was pregnant, so around 4 weeks. I think it's pretty standard these days - where there is a history of MC or early pregnancy bleeding - but then again didn't quite help me with my previous MC.

Could you ask your GP for a prescription and maybe show them this: www.tommys.org/sites/default/files/legacy/PRISM%20Infographic_v4_1.pdf?
