@ClaBro1 ours is booked for the 11th Sept, close to you 🙂

Dragonfly909 · 23/08/2022 17:26

@MamaOh YES! So hot. And I don't usually get hot really 🥵 at least we will miss most of the summer months!

Longbin · 23/08/2022 17:28

@MamaOh that's interesting. The reason I asked is because I have infertility, I have also been scoffed at constantly by medical professionals. Firstly the doctor I went to said you have to be married and have sex to have a baby after I had been trying for 2 years (what the actual f). Then our referrals got messed up so I went privately and they wouldn't give me medication as they said all my hormones were absolutely fine so the issue was I would never conceive without ivf as I must have an poor egg quality, and that they couldn't test that and it was the only thing that couldn't be checked. Went to a consultant, had the same feedback that no I was not allowed medication, I need ivf. Bought the medication myself abroad as I seemed to be unable to get it at all in the U.K. after 5 years, and it worked straight away. So I don't think I have an egg quality problem at all, despite them saying I do! I can't believe how much they fob people off.

@Dragonfly909 my LO is 23 mo so lots of us have them around the same age it seems :) @Margo34 too! 🥰 A year of trying is a long time, so happy for you now. And yes a slightly bigger gap will be good for lots of reasons. We started TTC in Dec last year and I've had 3 early miscarriages since - so it's been a grueling time! I'm pregnant again now straight after my most recent miscarriage, no period in between. Was a bit of a surprise as we hadn't been actively trying as it was all so fresh, but I'm really happy and hoping it's meant to be 🤞 I don't know why I was miscarrying but I've had a few tests and they've come back normal although my vitamin D was borderline (I've got that back up now!) And I suspect the first two may have been to do with breastfeeding just because I was still feeding DD through the night and loads in the day. So I dropped down after that, night weaned etc. And now we are just on one feed a day and I'm on progesterone supplements so hoping that helps - if if was bf related at all! Who knows. I also had some other health stuff going on earlier in the year so I was quite run down. Sorry for this essay 😂😅

@MamaOh that's so interesting about your family history and that theory around egg quality.... I very much hope this little babe makes it ❤️❤️ we have to think positive which sounds like you are, and I'm glad you feel listened to ❤️ also yes I am pretty hot!!! Especially if outside / I do anything strenuous 😅

@bluebubbles12 beautiful scan! I've got mine next week when I'll be 8+1 so hoping to see a similar blob! X

Skylark1990 · 23/08/2022 17:33

@Dragonfly909 sorry the whole point to my essay was to say that similar to you, we had wanted a smaller age gap but I'm actually quite glad of the gap now! Think if should make if easier haha x

Hi lovelies, just wanted to give you an update of my scan at EPU. They said that my fetal pole is 4.1mm which measures me at 6+1 which is basically on track , so phew! Also saw a heartbeat with an abdominal. They have spotted a small haemorrhage though which they said is common? I've been put on progesterone tabs.

How are you all getting on today? I feel a lot better xxxx

Yay! So pleased for you. Glad you're feeling better x

Dragonfly909 · 23/08/2022 17:34

@MamaOh sorry just seen your other post ❤

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well and feeling alright today <3 Thinking of you all! x

I was just wondering what your thoughts were on flying in the first trimester? Family and I had been planning a trip to Spain early September (when I will be just over 7 weeks), but I was talking to my acupuncturist today and she said she strongly advises against flying until after 12 weeks. I had never heard this before so I'm a bit nervous now. We don't have the flight booked, so could easily just not go -- but I was looking forward to it! I have Hashimoto's (a thyroid autoimmune condition) so miscarriage rates are high and I want to be as safe as possible. But I just know husband/family will be really disappointed, so feel a bit bad about cancelling the whole thing.. Eek!

personal question so please don’t feel obliged to answer second time mums, how were your births last time? It’s slowly dawning on me that I’ll have to do it all over again 😱

Joining in with my birth story! I was induced at 41+5 as nothing was happening (midwife couldn't even do a sweep as my cervix was clamped shut 🙈). It was a slow process, 2 days of the pessary and not much happening until a tiny bit of progress meant they could break my waters on day 3. Started on the drip, once that was on full whack 6 hours in the pain was so intense but I was still only just under 4cm so i opted for an epidural. Several hours later and still only 4cm they offered me a c section but I asked to wait another hour and I suddenly was fully dilated! Had to have ventouse and episiotomy in the end as baby still didn't want to come out lol. She was born 15 days overdue in the end 🙈

Am hoping to avoid induction this time round if possible. Fingers crossed baby is a little less stubborn than their older sister!

@ballerina90 I flew at 7 weeks pregnant with my DD and it was fine, it was a long 8 hour overnight flight too. I've never heard that about flying in the first trimester before and I'm not sure what the risk would be. Make sure you stay hydrated and wear flight socks.

I flew twice in my first trimester with my daughter, didn't realise anyone would advise against it to be honest! Flew once long haul at around 4 weeks, then a short flight at about 8 weeks. Second one wasn't fun due to morning sickness but otherwise was completely fine!

Wisher88 · 23/08/2022 17:50

So nice to see the first early scan photos coming through!
Transvaginal isn't uncomfortable at all, can't really feel it when it's in (very different to a smear test which I find far more uncomfortable!).

Longbin · 23/08/2022 17:58

@MamaOh it's mad that we have to take things into our own hands. I took progesterone before my bfp by using up the left overs of my ivf rounds, but then I couldn't seem to get any more of that either! I haven't had any spotting though so fingers crossed I don't actually need it. I fell pregnant on both of my IVF rounds so I thought if it worked with progesterone then it would make sense for me to try it, but nope they wouldn't prescribe!

chasingtherainbow1 · 23/08/2022 18:14

Just an update for all the ladies I spoke to who aren't feeling many symptoms. I had my scan today. Baby is fine and heart beating away. Fingers crossed it continues to be good news

@ballerina90 I flew at just over 5 weeks before and my baby had already stopped growing. Flew back a week after. In that time, my body still hasn't realised I had miscarried as I found out from a MMC once I returned. The flights didn't help to get things moving. I've flown this time too, at just over 5 weeks and 6 weeks, and had a scan after with a heartbeat.

Wouldloveanother · 23/08/2022 18:19

How lovely @chasingtherainbow1 💖

N27 · 23/08/2022 18:25

I’m officially in the club!!!

viability scan today at the ivf clinic and a strong heartbeat happily beating away and measurement right on cue at 8+1

can finally relax (for now!)

@MamaOh I'm glad one of the gps was sympathetic about it! Mine is a woman and just refers me to the hospital for everything, then they don't bother calling as it's something the gp should do. I'm going to change soon though so that when I have the baby I'm already at a new one. I'm not that optimistic that they will be better though!

Marshmallowmountain · 23/08/2022 19:24

@MamaOh not patronising at all. That’s actually really comforting and I think it helps me to feel like I’m not alone in the worry. I’ve just booked private HCG tests for tomorrow and Friday (I have to work in central London this week so can’t go to my
EPU 😞).

I’m half way through a trashy book at the moment so once I’ve had dinner I’m going to bury myself in the book and then the test is early tomorrow, and then I’ve got a busy day of meetings at work so will be distracted hopefully.

thank you for being so kind x

Tropicana1 · 23/08/2022 19:32

So lovely to see all the scan pictures 😍

My birth story is 3 day long failed induction ending in C section! Would not have an induction again!
