@AliceinSlumberland I and 5+4, so just a day behind you. I know what you mean, if i think about it then I'm sure I could suddenly feel nauseous or something. The only consistent symptom is my boobs are twice the size and that's not changed, husband regularly checks 😂 Our DD (3.5 years) is very unwell though with what looks a lot like covid, we all
Managed to not catch it once and now she's somehow come across it so there is no sleep happening and I'm worried about catching it. 🤞🏻 I don't as all the good meds we can't take now! I know exactly what you mean ibuprofen is the best for any muscle strains.

KaeBee · 24/08/2022 16:50

👋🏻Just landed here! 5 weeks and just mild cramps and insomnia which is ironic given I’m shattered all the time.

Just catching up on the chat as I've been wiped out with morning sickness/nausea for two days 🤢

I think I've found a combination of a few things that's alleviating it on case anyone is suffering too. FOOD FOOD FOOD - I've noticed when my stomach has food it is a lot more settled. Last night a took some rich tea biscuits to bed with me and had one right before I went to sleep and then the minute I opened my eyes (6am) before standing up or moving. I then had a few sips of water and another biscuit. I've been eating little and often throughout the day and sipping lucozade and have had very mild nausea and no sickness 🤞🏽 it has improved 10 fold! I've also bought some sickness bands to wear when it's particularly bad so will try them out.

Anyone else having crazy food aversions? The thought of cooking raw meat is turning my stomach. The thought of eating it is okay but I can't bring myself to cook!!

@Bee2631 what do you mean? Which is the better photo, or 1 or 2 babies?

Squareroundabout · 24/08/2022 18:16

Hi all, bit of a long shot but does anyone have a decent phone number for the maternity unit at Guys and St Thomas'? I'm 7.5w, and I've been having some pingy, sharp pains on and off. Very brief but noticeable. No discharge or spotting (touch wood). I also had them last Fri and had an early scan (I thought I'd had a loss of other early pregnancy symptoms, so I was concerned generally) and they found a heartbeat, so whilst I'm not as concerned as I would be because I had them on the same day as a good scan, I'd still like to speak to someone to check.

I've tried three times today and once I got put through to someone but it cut off as they were not at their desk and the other two times I was on hold for an hour waiting. I have my first midwife's appt next Thurs, so don't have an individual point of contact yet.

I spoke to my aunt, who is a retired midwife, and she thinks it sounds like ligaments moving about (which is want I thought when I looked it up on various NHS trust websites) but also said that she could never say for definite as she wasn't practising at the moment. And she so said its hard to tell anything when I'm so early in the journey!

So, short story: 1. Anyone had any pingy, sharp, transient pains and know the cause? Not uncomfortable, just noticeable. 2. Anyone manage to get through to the Guys and St Thomas' team who could give an alternate number?

Thanks all!

Longbin · 24/08/2022 18:17

@Squareroundabout I've had sharp pulling pains. I've put it down to round ligament pain as I had them in my second/third trimester last time and it feels identical. A few weeks ago it actually made my legs buckle as I got up too fast and it really pulled.

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 18:23

Me too @DBS94

Its made me really miserable today - it’s like constantly smelling the alcohol that made you sick the night before! If you know what I mean.

all I can manage is plain carbs (toast, brioche rolls, digestive biscuits) and fizzy drinks. Even water is making me feel off.

I’m also still having a bad stomach - cramping, constipation, the opposite Blush

feeling quite down thinking it could last for another 6+ weeks.

Bee2631 · 24/08/2022 18:31

1 or 2 babies the scanner was unsure so bringing us back in a week just thought I'd get peoples thoughts xx

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 18:31

I’m not really sure what they would be able to do for you at this point @Squareroundabout - you’ve had a scan which (as far as I can tell) confirmed it isn’t ectopic and in the right place? With no bleeding and the pain only being mild, it sounds very much like normal pregnancy pain so I doubt they would say much more other than to phone back if it got worse or you started spotting. Hope it passes soon!

Ooohhh could be two! Twin run in either family or have you been taking anything that increases the likelihood of twins? Can definitely see a little something

Sounds like normal pregnancy pains to me, I had them last time and read that is was round ligament Pain, had it from the first trimester with DD and have had a few twinges with this one. Congratulations on your scan! 🥳

Bee2631 · 24/08/2022 18:44

@Gilm0reGirl twins in both sides kinda hoping for two now but will be over the moon as long as healthy :)

@Longbin

KennAdams · 24/08/2022 18:49

I really wished I'd followed the advice of some of you ladies on here about not going for an early scan.

I went yesterday at 6w (very sure of dates as we tracked DTD and opks)

Saw a gestainal sac with yolk sac no fetal pole. Measuring 5+1. I'm gutted.

Got the EPU tomorrow due to some spotting I had earlier on.

Not holding out any hope. 🙄

AliceinSlumberland · 24/08/2022 18:59

@KennAdams I’m so sorry that the early scan has just caused you so much stress. I would wait and see what EPU says - scans done by them on this thread have shown vastly different baby sizes than private ones, plus at only 6 weeks it would only take a slight off measurement or even later implantation for dates to be off. I’ve got absolutely everything crossed for you, keep us updated.

Yay, my booking in appointment turned up in the post today! Sept 14th so I’ll be 8 weeks 5 days!

ancienthouse · 24/08/2022 19:06

@KennAdams I hope you get better news at epu tomorrow 🤞

@Wouldloveanother i feel the same today, I can barely eat anything. With my DD my nausea lasted until around 17/18 weeks but it peaked at 9 weeks then slowly got better. I think by 12 weeks I could manage some more normal foods. I'm wondering if it'll be the same this time or not! It really sucks and I hate feeling like this but it's also over at some point and then you feel like a new woman! And this time last week I was wishing for nausea so I knew my hormones were increasing so, I guess I got what I wanted!

I've had pingy sharp pains too and thought they were pretty normal.

It's the period-like pains that worry me (having them right now) as that's how my previous MCs started.
Anyone else experiencing period-like pains and think it's normal?

ancienthouse · 24/08/2022 19:52

@SavedByGraceAlone I've had loads of period type pains but they stopped a few days ago (I'm 7 weeks tomorrow). I also have sharp pingy pains where my ovaries are but on both sides, so not sure it can be corpus luteum. Maybe just stretching.
I have a scan tomorrow so will see if everything is OK despite all the random pains! I think mine have all felt normal though, nothing has felt worrying. With my MC I had a very strong upwards pulling pain that came on suddenly and was accompanied by spotting then bleeding and cramps, and it felt very different to these pregnancy pains.

SavedByGraceAlone · 24/08/2022 20:00

Thank you @anancienthouse, hope your scan goes well tomorrow. Let us know what they see! X

Longbin · 24/08/2022 20:20

@Bee2631 I thought it was a yolk sac and feral pole. Is there just one sac? Did the sonographer not say if there were 1 or 2?
