Hi everyone! I’m 12 weeks today (I think!) and have my dating scan on Tuesday afternoon, feeling increasingly anxious as it gets closer! I had a scan at 9 weeks, then again at 11 weeks after a minor scare but all was great so hoping it still is! My symptoms have really reduced this week, however I know that can happen around this time anyway! I’m very petite and I have a big round belly already though! 😂

hope everyone’s well!

Hey!
Also 12 weeks today and have my dating scan on Thursday.
We also had a private scan at 11 weeks, yet feel oddly nervous for next week. Think it's more the NT and blood tests really.

My symptoms have also been a lot more manageable in the last week or so - which seems normal, but we do worry!

Best of luck for Tuesday!

MrsD2021 · 13/08/2022 07:26

@Daisychainsx I can definitely relate to reading horror stories! I had to take myself away from social media/forums for a few days too because it was so overwhelming.

@SJ1994 best of luck for your scan. I have mine on Monday. I’ve also had a few early scans but I’m still nervous too!

My NIPT results came back yesterday. Only had to wait 3 days. Low risk health girl 💕 over the moon xx

MrsD2021 · 13/08/2022 07:29

@botbump best of luck for your scan too! I’m 12 weeks 5 days (ish - based on ovulation date I should be 12 weeks 1 day but baby is measuring ahead). I haven’t had many symptoms at all since the start but very randomly on Monday morning I vomited as soon as I opened my eyes. No sickness or anything since. And the first trimester exhaustion seems to be clearing. It’s so nice to have a bit of energy again. Well, as much energy as you can have with a 15 month old 😂

Bella9992 · 13/08/2022 07:44

@Daisychainsx welcome back. I am with you feeling huge, I was 13 weeks on Thurs. I'm quite slim and struggling to hide it, it's my second but had similar experience last time. Feeling very bloated but definitely a bump starting too now as the bottom of my stomach has gone hard.

Bella9992 · 13/08/2022 07:46

Good luck for those with upcoming scans. The hospital told me they would call yesterday if the blood test come back as high risk, and if I didn't hear anything I'd get a letter. Hoping that's all good news then.
I did get a call from the midwife yesterday which panicked me, but she was just calling to check my EDD after my scan to book me in for a birth choices appointment as I had an unplanned c section first time round.

BritInNZ · 14/08/2022 05:45

I'm 11 weeks and 4 days today, and I feel like my fatigue is finally improving. Anybody else having a bit more energy now they're around 12 weeks? Typical I've been wanting it gone, but now it's gone I'm worried 😂

SJ1994 · 14/08/2022 08:12

@botbump Thank you and best of luck for yours! I think it’s completely normal to worry to be honest, I think most people feel the same leading up to scans!

@MrsD2021 Thank you! Best of luck for your scan tomorrow!

PeanutButterFalcon · 14/08/2022 08:20

@BritInNZ my symptoms swap and change all over the place. It’s hard to enjoy them. There’s the awkward stage when your symptoms decrease but you can’t feel baby yet.

im 16 weeks tomorrow, feeling absolutely huge! I got my bump around now with my first so have been expecting it but it’s not as hard! Guessing it’s the lack of muscles this time. Haven’t been sick for 2 days and hoping it stays this way

EasterBunny7 · 15/08/2022 09:17

Hello. I'm actually in the March thread, but you never know with babies, could end up being a Feb one instead. Since you are all ahead of us, I was curious to know when everyone starting showing? I feel I am showing too early and worried that's a sign of overeating rather than pregnancy bump.

ViVi1001 · 15/08/2022 11:10

For those having / have had first baby, what was your next routine appointment following the 12 week dating scan? I have my 20 week anomaly scan in the calendar, as well as midwife appointments scheduled from 24 weeks onwards.

I thought there should be a 16 week midwife appointment? Frustratingly I can never seem to get through on the phones to my hospital antenatal clinic to check question which is slightly concerning me tbh.

@ViVi1001 I am currently expecting my first baby! I had my booking app at 11 weeks and the midwife booked me in then for my 16 week app - I think you should deffo have an appointment at 16 weeks but maybe it varies by hospital/trust? I would deffo query it, if you manage to get through! 🙂

Thank you so much :) I managed to get through in the end - it turns out it’s all fine as the midwife booked me in for a consultant appointment in early September during my booking appointment which I thought was unrelated and for my PCOS, but it turns out it also doubles up as my 16 week appointment x

Hey,
I'm a late Feb expected so am on the March one too.
I'm a little over 12 weeks and started to be less bloated around 10 weeks, but have definitely noticed more of a 'full low down' look to my tummy in recent days.
It's my first, so this surprised me, but my Mum said she had a little bump from around 13 weeks so I suppose it's just how we're built.

Definitely a little overeating on me...but that's sitting higher up around my belly button area and waist.

EasterBunny7 · 15/08/2022 14:17

@botbump oh, that's interesting! So, it's the lower belly that's pregnancy belly. In that case, I'm just getting fat! Mine is blowing out just under my chest and I can't stick it back in.

Ahh! That's very much what my bloating was like! I lost my ribs from around 6 weeks! As I say, calmed down around a month later.

I'm sure everybody's body reacts to pregnancy differently though! Perhaps you're growing a high bump, whilst mine is starting low.
From what I've read, most people have a little something to show for their hard work by around 14-16 weeks, so it won't be long until we can boldly declare 'bump, not biscuits!'

BritInNZ · 15/08/2022 15:34

@EasterBunny7 I have completely lost my waist - I used to have a tiny waist and wide hips but now I'm straight up and down 😂 it's not baby as it's podgy, so probably all my beige food and lack of exercise! Hoping actual baby bump appears soon as at the moment I just look a bit chubby haha

Bella9992 · 15/08/2022 17:54

@EasterBunny7 I'm 13.5 weeks and definitely starting to get a bit of a bump. I was so bloated for most of the first trimester but that seems to have gone down and now my stomach is rounded much lower down. Although come the evening its much bigger so definitely still some bloating throughout the day. Its my second and remember I had similar experience last time just maybe a week or two later on.

Akmc · 17/08/2022 15:41

@EasterBunny7 until literally yesterday, I had the same thing, a huge mega bump of bloaty doom. I went to see the dental hygienist and she went ON AND ON about how I looked SO pregnant already. Honestly. 🙄 Currently it’s come down to the point that I can now actually see the baby bump. Though of course womens bodies do differ so surely this must contribute to a little variation in where bumps can seem to appear?

Also I’m sure you’ve also googled bumps at different weeks and there is such a wide difference, so hopefully you’re not too worried after that!
💜

Akmc · 17/08/2022 15:44

Also, one other q to everyone - if you’re still getting headaches, can you please share tips or tricks? Paracetamol is not helping, mw says I can’t take anything else, 4head helps a little, other cooling patches not so much. However my nose is constantly congested and bloody so perhaps it’s a sinus thing? If anything has worked for you, please share the gen. 👍👍

Daisychainsx · 18/08/2022 09:18

After my post about being huge, I'm now 14 weeks tomorrow and, after wearing maternity jeans for the past 5 weeks, I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans 🤣 what I thought was baby was 90% bloat!
I have my '12 week' scan this afternoon and I. Am. Terrified. 🤯🤞🤞🤞

blibbyblobb · 18/08/2022 12:40

@Daisychainsx ..im 14 weeks today and ive noticed i can go back to my pregnancy jeans too the bloating has reduced so much (thankfully) good luck on ur scan💕

Daisychainsx · 18/08/2022 12:52

@blibbyblobb it's so strange eh! But I was a bit concerned about the size I'd be at 9 months if I was that big now so I'm glad it's gone down! Ahhh I'm so nervous it's ridiculous 🤯 30 mins to go!🤞

PeanutButterFalcon · 18/08/2022 17:59

Hope it went well @Daisychainsx

Iwantcake89 · 18/08/2022 19:25

Hello, I have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow and I'm just wondering what to expect? Do they do any tests? Has anyone had theirs yet? It's my first baby and due 2nd Feb.

Daisychainsx · 18/08/2022 19:26

@PeanutButterFalcon thank you! It was magical 🤩 he/she had hiccups and it was so cute watching him/her bou cing around! 🥰 I want an ultrasound machine 🤣
