@barneymcgroo in my experience really inaccurate, I can’t remember the actual +/- accuracy percentage but it’s bigger than you’d expect. For context I had to go for continual growth scans with my daughter due to measuring small, told she was measuring to be less than 5lb at birth etc… she was 7lb 11 when she was born & got stuck so actually should’ve been being tracked for being “too big”. Albeit she was born at 41 weeks but that 1 week wouldn’t account for over 2lb growth!

They say baby can grow by 1/2 lb per week in the last weeks of pregnancy so I wouldn’t worry about it. Even if they are measuring small now (with the accuracy pinch of salt) they still have loads of time to have a growth spurt xxx

@Kaytee91 that sounds so stressful, glad your scans etc have all come back as ok. I don’t think we’ll ever get over the anxiety of pregnancy after loss but I find counting down to little milestones helps. For example 24 weeks is classed as viability so in 2 weeks time, your baby would be classed as viable & if the worst happened they would try everything within their medical powers to help. 27/28 weeks, entering third trimester & I know of friends of friends who have had baby’s at 28 weeks who are perfectly healthy now for example. Hopefully that makes sense but that’s how I try to manage it, by giving small reassurances about how far we’ve come & the biggest one for me is no longer having to press “1” on the dreaded triage number at the maternity hospital to be taken through to the miscarriage unit instead of the labour unit due to being less than 24 weeks. Hopefully it was just one of those blips & everything will be plane sailing for you from here 🙏🏼 xxx

barneymcgroo · 14/07/2022 11:29

@speake1 Thank you! I'll go for the scan anyway, as I'm away for over a month, and don't want to have a niggling worry, but I have a long torso and I think there's just more storage space. I honestly feel that I already look as pregnant as I did at 40weeks with DS2.

Kaytee91 · 14/07/2022 11:37

Thanks @speake1 I am counting down the minutes until I hit 24 weeks, even though that would obviously still not be ideal. They did actually say when I was in hospital that, if things progressed, they would transfer me to somewhere with a specialist neonatal unit for delivery- crazy to think there’s even a chance of viability now but I suppose reassuring in some ways especially with every day that passes. Keeping everything crossed it’s just one of those things, just hate that I’m back to the obsessive knicker checking!

barneymcgroo · 14/07/2022 11:40

@Kaytee91 It's amazing, isn't it? Every day they stay in there, the better the chances. Keep hanging on in there. X

Bridgey8 · 14/07/2022 13:20

@barneymcgroo I had my 28 week one yest (at 28+5) and measured 27. Midwife wasn't bothered in slightest but obvs I was! My bump is huge so I was a bit surprised. How much smaller were you? I'm also tall (5ft 8) xx

Bridgey8 · 14/07/2022 13:23

@Kaytee91 I'm one of the aforementioned bleeders - had implantation bleeding / a haematoma / cervical ectropian. I know the feeling bleeding gives you - the anxiety is unreal - but it is so often ok and if you've been checked over then I'm sure baby is all good. Stay strong xxxx

barneymcgroo · 14/07/2022 13:34

I'm 5'9", so not massive, but I know I've plenty of space. Measuring below 5th percentile, but I've done a good bit of Googling and it seems the measurements can be quite unreliable.
I've got a scan tomorrow afternoon, so will let you know after that.
My bump feels huge, to me, specially as I've nearly 3 months to go, hence my surprise...
Thanks for your reply.

flowergarden16 · 14/07/2022 14:45

Ladies I think I've asked this before but does anyone else here have a low lying placenta? Mine is covering my cervix and on one side and it's starting to make me scared about the next 17 weeks!

Kaytee91 · 14/07/2022 14:58

@Bridgey8 thank you, always reassuring to hear of people in similar situations (although obviously I don’t wish it upon anyone!) xx

flowergarden16 · 14/07/2022 16:12

@Kaytee91 just to say sending you solidarity. Lots of us on here have experienced this and so far so good. Hope all ok. We just be due the same week x

Kaytee91 · 14/07/2022 18:32

Thank you @flowergarden16 .Pleased to hear everything is going well for the fellow bleeders now (& not just for my own reassurance). Forcing myself to stop with the constant googling & mumsnet searching for bleeding now, I think I’ve literally read it all now anyway 😂x

flowergarden16 · 14/07/2022 18:36

@Kaytee91 I've spent the last hour googling placenta previa and getting really worked up. It's so stressful particularly after loss.

Realizing how simple and easier my pregnancy with my son was now Hmm

speake1 · 15/07/2022 11:47

@barneymcgroo @Bridgey8 that’s me also just had my midwife appt & follow up growth scan for bump measuring less than the 5th percentile. I’m starting to think it must be really common too if that’s all 3 of us! Although I’m only 5’3 so not sure where baby is hiding for me, I feel the size of a house! Xxx

Bridgey8 · 15/07/2022 11:55

@speake1 @barneymcgroo I just don't think it can be accurate. I spoke to loads of people about it and so many told the same and out pops a normal sized baby!

barneymcgroo · 15/07/2022 12:19

@speake1 @Bridgey8 Well it's reassuring to know it's not just me - and it seems a cm here or there makes a huge difference.

I've got my scan after lunch today. Quite keen to go now, as my 4yo kicked me in the stomach last night (not on purpose...), so a bit of reassurance that everything is okay, particularly before I go away, will be great.

barneymcgroo · 15/07/2022 12:20

@speake1 Have you had your growth scan? Hope all okay 🤞

speake1 · 15/07/2022 12:52

@barneymcgroo aww I’m sure everything will be ok, it’s so hard trying to shield from accidental kicks & knocks from our little ones! Yeah I had my growth scan straight after, all is ok & they’re plotting on the same line as my daughter was so I’m not worried xxx

barneymcgroo · 15/07/2022 15:40

@speake1 Thank you - all looking fine, and measuring bang on track, thank goodness. Had the same sonographer who gave me massive clues about the sex of DS2, so had to warn her off as I don't want to know - luckily this time she was able to restrain herself!

speake1 · 15/07/2022 15:57

@barneymcgroo so glad everything is looking good! Haha what are they like, although they must see so many pregnant women / babies, the sonographers sometimes seem as excited as we do! Hope you can have a nice relaxed weekend now knowing that all is well 😊 xxx

Skl2021 · 15/07/2022 18:14

Had a horrible day today couldn't get baby to move one bit so have been at hospital for monitoring 😣 luckily he passed all the checks on the machine after about an hour but he's still not moving anywhere as much. Midwife didn't seem concerned and said he's probably just moved position or my placenta is cushioning most of it. The stress and worry is unreal 😟 when does it get easier?! 🤦 Xx

Annny27 · 15/07/2022 19:48

@Skl2021 that sounds like a really stressful day :( it stresses me out when I don't feel baby for a bit but all day you must have been super stressed! Glad he passed the checks 💙 how far are you?

Skl2021 · 15/07/2022 19:56

@Annny27 since feeling movement I have never gone that long without feeling anything I honestly thought the worst I was petrified going in there. He's still hardly moving now but I'm trying to stay calm but it's easier said than done. I'm 28+3 xx

flowergarden16 · 15/07/2022 20:27

Oh @Skl2021 I had this with my son. It's so stressful. You did the right thing going in. I'm sure baby is totally fine but it's hard not to worry. X

Skl2021 · 15/07/2022 20:30

@flowergarden16 these cheeky boys keeping us on our toes!! I really did not want to go in as my head was a mess just expecting the worst but I knew I had to at that point I was panicking. They seemed happy with the trace from the machine so hoping he gets back to kicking me soon 🤞 stress never ends 🙈 xx
