Thanks for all the support everyone ♥️ I don't go in until 5pm as it c section day and if there running behind I might get pushed back so it will be a long day and night for me 🙈 can't see baby coming today xx

calimc83 · 29/09/2022 09:24

@Skl2021 urgh what a wait! Sleep as much as u can today xx

Skl2021 · 29/09/2022 09:27

@calimc83 I know 😣 I hardly slept last night I'm so nervous and feel sick! The waiting around is killing me! X

barneymcgroo · 29/09/2022 10:01

@Skl2021 Oof, that is a long day. Hope you manage to keep yourself occupied. And sleeeeep if you can...

Just waiting for my midwife appointment here - 38+4...

Skl2021 · 29/09/2022 10:03

@barneymcgroo I will try as I might be up all night 🤦 just need to get last minute bag bits packed! Hope your appointment goes ok! X

Srx1 · 29/09/2022 10:42

@Skl2021 hang in there! You'll see your baby soon ☺️

Thanks for the vaccine responses everyone! I don't know what to do. I'm 34 weeks today. Normally I wouldn't think much about it but last year when I had my very first dose I had a random period the next day. Then the subsequent 2 I didn't have a reaction at all. With this 4th I know it is a slightly updated vaccine so I'm just worried about any potential reactions. I spoke to my midwife and she didn't seem to push either way, she told me objectively pros and cons but I still don't know! I might still have some antibodies from a booster 9months ago and I may not. It would be also good to boost the immunity and give some to the baby too. I'm just worried something happening now. I work from home and still wear a mask in shops and I'm trying to be careful but my husband works with people so..
@arianasky I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish! Did you have the 3 previous doses ?
@calimc83 how many weeks are you?
@HoneyPea ohhh I'm sorry.. and how were you after your 2 doses?
@Annny27 yeah that would be a good thing..

barneymcgroo · 29/09/2022 11:18

@Skl2021 Argh - another v small fundal height measurement. So sent me for a scan again. Just waiting for it now - had to hot foot it into town as there isn't a scanning dept at the midwife clinic...

Am assuming it's the same story as before, but I don't want to decline a scan just in case...

Skl2021 · 29/09/2022 11:23

@barneymcgroo yes better to get it checked hopefully all will be ok! Keep us updated 🤞 x

barneymcgroo · 29/09/2022 11:36

...measuring completely normal again...

Just waddling back to the car.

Skl2021 · 29/09/2022 11:37

@barneymcgroo 🙈🤣 that's why I hate fundal measurements! Unnecessary stress! Glad everything is ok and u were seen super quick! X

flowergarden16 · 29/09/2022 11:41

@barneymcgroo I've also just had a small fungal height (no growth since last one two weeks ago) but was told fine as baby is transverse. They all seem so random?! Glad it went well

@Arwen7 is this normal with fundal height - is it often smaller when baby is transverse? Constant worry

arianasky · 29/09/2022 13:40

@Skl2021 I hope you're managing some rest before this evening 💙

@Srx1 yes I've had three doses just not the newest booster xx

@Skl2021 good luck, will be thinking of you. Can’t believe the wait you’ve got today, hopefully you’re managing to keep yourself busy! Xxx

barneymcgroo · 29/09/2022 15:14

@flowergarden16 I think fundal height is very dependent on position. My baby is head down and in a great position - I've been 'neat' with all three. Annoyingly I had growth scans alongside midwife appointments, and they didn't measure fundal height at these, so weren't to know that it's normal for me, if you see what I mean. Definitely better safe than sorry, though!

Always something to worry about, but today it's not this. (Baby now back up to 50th percentile - going to lay off the chocolate a touch in case I'm growing a monster...)

flowergarden16 · 29/09/2022 15:15

Thanks @barneymcgroo :-)

calimc83 · 29/09/2022 15:56

@Srx1 I'm only 16 weeks so my main concern at the moment is if I have it, what affect will it have on the baby? Did your midwife mention what the cons were of receiving it? I've fully jabbed up ( apart from this booster) but I've had covid twice. Incidentally I MC both times in the first trimester and each time I had covid so it's scaring me xx

Arwen7 · 29/09/2022 15:58

@flowergarden16 yes that's correct if baby is transverse then fundal height is pointless so I wouldn't worry. And as others have said, it's not accurate at all, neither are scans, but together they do prevent some of the growth restricted/more at risk babies going undetected so I guess it's still a valid tool however causing too much stress to many women!

I also measured small so they sent me for a scan - one of the measurements on the 12th cent but overall baby on the 30th so like some of you here now to see what happens in two weeks time! In addition to that I've been having headaches and they think may have protein in the urine so I can see my home plan slowly crumbling apart 😅

flowergarden16 · 29/09/2022 15:59

Thank you so much @Arwen7 really put my mind at ease

Oh bless you. It's so hard when your birth choices get taken away.

I'm trying to decide on 'choices' for my c section even though it's not what I had planned. Hopefully you can have some of the things you want even if it's not at home x

Cruz86 · 29/09/2022 16:48

I'm so glad I came on here to check for updates today -- @Skl2021 good luck with your induction!! I can't believe you're going to see your baby soon. I'm sorry it's not what you wanted though and completely understand why you're so scared after your previous experience. Just remember that you know your body so if something doesn't feel right or you're not happy with the pain/how things are progressing, you have the right to ask for a C-section. Thinking of you and can't wait to hear all about the birth of your new little bubba ❤️

Cruz86 · 29/09/2022 16:51

And @flowergarden16, great to read your update too! I know how anxious you were about something going wrong with your placenta so this is really good news 🥰

flowergarden16 · 29/09/2022 17:07

@Cruz86 💓💓

Srx1 · 29/09/2022 22:44

@calimc83 I'm sorry you went through that 😔 She said based on the evidence so far it's not affecting the baby. She didn't really say any cons for having it, just said that only I can make the decision, that I might still have some antibodies from my first booster but we can't know that. But then if I had the booster, the baby would get protected although they don't get very ill. She said if I had a reaction to it so bad that I'm unwell, worst case scenario I would be induced etc.

I saw this earlier: www.rcog.org.uk/media/13xkcdsa/2021-02-24-combined-info-sheet-and-decision-aid.pdf

@Arwen7can you please give your opinion on this? I mentioned below that I had a side effect from my first covid vaccine so now unsure whether to have this updated booster..

Annny27 · 29/09/2022 23:06

@Srx1 I have decided to book my vaccine. I have read stories of third trimester women having covid and then being placed in a coma and not meeting their baby for months and that was enough to convince me. Even though I am actually terrified of having the jab!!!

Arwen7 · 29/09/2022 23:40

@Srx1 ooh it's a difficult one. You say you had some reaction to it, depending on how serious the reaction was you would have to be cautious!

I personally had the 2 plus booster, but booster was just a month before conceiving. Then I had covid at 20+ weeks and it wasn't worse than a bad cold. During this whole time I was exposed to Covid many times, including looking after positive patients.

The majority of pregnant women I have seen with Covid have been absolutely fine but sadly have also seen a few getting very unwell and even having to go into ITU etc but they were mostly unvaccinated so if you have had some it would still offer some protection. By the way the same applies to flu. I think there is no right or wrong, the evidence seems to be that pregnant women are at more risk of getting a severe form of the disease esp during the 3rd trimester, that vaccination protects against severe covid and that it's not harmful at any stage in pregnancy hence it's recommended but at the end of the day it's your decision, you also need to see what your intuition says and only you can make that decision xx

Srx1 · 29/09/2022 23:53

@Annny27 yeah I'm scared when I hear those horror stories too although I do hope those are mostly women who didn't have any vaccinations at all... when it was really bad

@Arwen7 thank you! It wasn't like an allergic reaction but the day after my very first dose I got my period even though I only had it 9 days prior to that. And I never had irregular periods in my life or any issues. Other doses were fine! I'm just worried that I might have some side effects after this one as it is a slightly different one. I was hoping my midwife would tell me what to do 😬 but she wasn't really pushing for one or the other

@calimc83 did you speak to your midwife about it?
