Hi. I have had 3 miscarriages and am now exactly 4 weeks pregnant. Wondering if you guys can help.

I have lost all 3 pregnancies around 5-6 weeks and from a few days after BFP I've had period like cramps for a week or two. They have just started again with my current pregnancy and I'm not sure if this is normal or a sign that I will miscarry again in a week or two.

Anyone had period like cramps in early pregnancy? I feel like I get waves of nausea with them also. I would say the pain isn't intense but feel like a bad period pain where i feel i have to go sit on the toilet for a while until it passes.

Told myself I wouldn't be as anxious in this pregnancy but here I am!

Thanks 💕

flowergarden16 · 28/07/2022 12:34

Hi @chasingtherainbow1 congratulations and I'm sorry about your losses.

Most of us here have had some cramping and bleeding in the early stages. It can be totally normal. Know it's scary. Each pregnancy is different and is a new chance x

chasingtherainbow1 · 28/07/2022 12:38

@flowergarden16 thank you! I've been trying to tell myself that each pregnancy is different and hoping that doing my best to improve egg quality with supplements, eating healthier and going on progesterone makes the difference! It's just so awful when you don't get any explanation for previous losses! I'm just trying to take each day as it comes with this one

flowergarden16 · 28/07/2022 12:47

@chasingtherainbow1 totally agree. All we can do is hope cx

flowergarden16 · 28/07/2022 20:57

Hi @Arwen7 sorry to ask but wanted to see if you had any advice on placenta previa

I have just seen the consultant who said is very unlikely my placenta will move and it's totally covering my cervix. He's advised we don't go away on Sunday (supposed to be in Greece) and tbh I'm having a major meltdown.

I'm so scared about a hemorrhage and bleeding. Do you have any experience on this? Google is just making me even more scared and upset 😢

Arwen7 · 28/07/2022 21:12

Hi @flowergarden16 I'm so sorry what bad timing for this! So it sounds like by the looks of it your placenta is not moving :(
While nothing may happen, the risk of bleeding is there and it's impossible to predict which women may bleed and which won't. I have seen women - with placenta praevia- bleed only a tiny bit and others quite substantially. And while in all cases at low gestation that I have seen, the bleeding settles down and actually nothing can be done in hospital other than monitoring baby etc... I would ask myself, if that was to happen would you rather be near your hospital and be monitored, seen etc or in a foreign contry? If you were to go it would be against medical advice and you would need insurance. Again, likelihood you wouldn't bleed but it is a possibility. I think I would follow your Drs advice in this case sorry and big hugs!!! Xx

flowergarden16 · 28/07/2022 21:14

Thanks @Arwen7 ! I appreciate it

No I think it's staying out. We're not going to go away

I'm really scared about bleeding in general. Is it super heavy? I'm worried about it happening when I'm on my own or say in the office. It sounds like a big bleed can happen. I'm just getting so worried about it. And confused x

Arwen7 · 28/07/2022 21:23

@flowergarden16 I'm not gonna lie it can happen and have met women for whom that happened at work for example. However as I said in all cases I have seen at low gestation it does settle with bed rest and baby and mum are fine. In cases where they continue to have bleeding episodes (at that point these women are most likely admitted in hospital on bed rest) and the baby can be delivered then the Doctors may suggest that. Then of course it needs to be a c section and the risk of major haemorrhage is higher BUT we are super used to this and it is dealt with safely and even though it's hard for the women/partner as they may perceive it as a life or death situation we see it and deal with it every day and the outcomes are good. I am trying to be honest but hope it is also reassuring in the sense that we are trained to deal with it if it happens and you and baby will be in good hands - but hopefully you won't bleed that's also a strong possibility and it would be much better! Just take it easy - are you working from home etc?

Arwen7 · 28/07/2022 21:24

@flowergarden16 but also some women bleed only a tiny bit and other nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️

flowergarden16 · 28/07/2022 21:26

That's so helpful @Arwen7 I really appreciate it xxxxx

Arwen7 · 28/07/2022 21:30

@flowergarden16 no worries lovely xxx

Annny27 · 29/07/2022 11:31

@flowergarden16 glad they will be monitoring you and so sorry about your holiday :( hopefully your insurance would cover the cancellation?

Is anyone having a baby shower btw?

flowergarden16 · 29/07/2022 12:28

@Annny27 thank you. Yes we should be covered.

Just gotta hope baby can stay safely in there for another ten weeks or so

X

Srx1 · 29/07/2022 13:29

@flowergarden16 sorry about your holiday and this situation, hope you're ok.

@Annny27 I don't think I'll have a baby shower. I don't have a lot of friends where we live now so it's tricky.

Cruz86 · 29/07/2022 16:01

Hi ladies!! I've not been on Mumsnet in so long, I got sent an email to let me know I've been inactive 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I don't know why I've not been on either, I wish I could say it's because I've been busy with work etc, but I just don't think I've had the motivation to!

How is everyone doing? I've caught up on the whole thread and I can't believe how close a couple of you are now 😮 I'm 26 weeks today and everything is going well. Baby boy is an absolute wriggler!!

arianasky · 30/07/2022 08:33

So I'm now 23+4 and last night I had diarrhoea about 10pm and then woke up in a hot sweat this morning and had it again, baby is fine he's kicking away as usual just feel a bit scared as I've been constipated since I conceived! Has anyone else had a change in bowel habits at all?

OP posts:
Annny27 · 30/07/2022 09:40

@arianasky I have had about 3 or 4 instances of "clear out" diarrhoea with lots of pain, hot flushes! I was initially concerned as I always get loose bowels before period so when it happened in first trimester I assumed the worst. But it just seems that after a while of constipation by bowels need a bit of a change once in a whole ;p

Hopingforarainbow27 · 30/07/2022 10:34

@chasingtherainbow1 I recognise you from previous threads. I too have had 3 miscarriages and no explanation and am now 8 weeks. I had a few crampy twinges a couple of weeks ago and was convinced it was happening again but baby was fine on Monday when I went for a scan. I know exactly how you feel and here if you need to chat as no doubt I'll be feeling the same! Congratulations 💞

Tofu35 · 30/07/2022 11:12

@arianasky any time I have had a huge anxiety spike during this pregnancy it's been when I've had that exact thing! The hot flash and diarrhoea. I always link it to my miscarriage. Even though now I've had a few bouts of diarrhoea, each one makes me worry.

My bowels have no idea what they're doing. Days of constipation and then a big poo, and then small difficult to pass ones then back to constipation. It is a shitty, hoho, situation!

arianasky · 30/07/2022 11:43

@Annny27 ah that's good to hear 💕 I did panic last night as i had the same cramps as if I'd taken a laxative but baby has been kicking lots so talked myself out of the panic. I'm happy to clear out if I'm honest 😂 just wish there was no hot flushes or cramps with it.

@Tofu35 thank you 💕 yeah I totally panicked last night thinking the worse my bowel movements are exactly the same 🙈 constipated then ok and now apparently diarrhoea 😂

chasingtherainbow1 · 30/07/2022 19:50

@Hopingforarainbow27 thank you! So lovely to see you here too! Lovely to hear your scan went well! I'm 4w 2d atm and wondering whether to book a scan as I feel I might wait another week. Good to know the cramps are normal. Although I don't feel like I've had them today and now I'm panicking there's something wrong 🙈 never happy are we 😂

Hopingforarainbow27 · 30/07/2022 20:47

@chasingtherainbow1 I was offered a scan at 6 weeks but I wanted to wait to at least 7 so I knew if there was heartbeat or not. I find the scans help me as it's a shorter milestone rather than waiting ages and making yourself mad!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 30/07/2022 20:49

Also can I ask have all you girls has sickness as in properly being sick? I just feel nauseous on and off and worrying I'm not sick enough as I've never actually been sick with my other pregnancies either 🤦🏽‍♀️

arianasky · 31/07/2022 11:07

@Hopingforarainbow27 from about week 6 - weeks 16 I was really sick vomiting everyday and about week 10 I was so bad I had to take 3 weeks off work as I was vomiting maybe 10 times a day it was tough I'm now nearly 24 weeks 🤢 but I had a MMC last year at 13 weeks and I was extremely sick then aswell literally up until the Operation so I wouldn't worry if your not sick as I don't think it means anything? Make the most of not being sick at the moment in case it hits you haha 💕🌈
