Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

Has anyone started to or finished their nurseries yet? 😁

I have - it’s pretty much done now, though needs some Knick knacks to add a bit of decoration. Though we don’t have a cot in there yet

Orcarain · 27/09/2022 16:26

@hopefulsunshine11 We're actually moving into our new house in November and the room that will be her nursery currently has a god awful mural on the wall that needs GONE! I want to do it myself as the room is so small and I'd be embarrassed paying for a painter/decorator to come in and do it. So we'll wait until she's here as I'm concerned about using paint stripper. Call me crazy!

Mommabear20 · 27/09/2022 17:35

@hopefulsunshine11 unfortunately we live in a rented house and landlords don't allow us to decorate 🤷‍♀️😡 so we've never been able to decorate a nursery for any of our DC, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun decorating their bedrooms in a future house!

HayleyBean · 27/09/2022 19:37

@hopefulsunshine11 our nursery looks like a building site atm! We're hoping to have it done by Oct half term

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/09/2022 19:41

Our nursery has all the baby stuff in it - the cupboard is full of equipment and all sorts of stuff. It's mostly decorated as we did a big renovation last year. There's just one wall where we want to do a mural (geometric colours like the Disney small world ride). We've got a week off in October to finish it then once I'm on Mat leave in November I'll start sorting out all the stuff into where it will live.

Tofu35 · 27/09/2022 21:06

@hopefulsunshine11 the nursery is currently my home office, so it is holding all my work stuff but the baby's things are slowly stacking up. So far we've got a 4 drawer with all his clothes in, a baby carrier, sleep bags and a bouncer. Oh and the wall that doesn't feature on my Teams calls is covered in patches of tester colours of paint!

It's a real mess 😂

TeamBluex4 · 28/09/2022 09:18

@lifechanginglemoncake yes i have heard about the side effects of metformin especially that it can give you diarrehea which wouldn't be good whilst your away! So hopefully in these 2 days that your delaying in starting you can manage your blood sugars within the limit.. my appointment for a diabetic review is tomorrow and also to see the consultant again to go over everything got a growth scan in 2 weeks time to check on his growth then another at 36 weeks.. do you have any more growth scans to check on baby?

TeamBluex4 · 28/09/2022 09:21

@hopefulsunshine11 we will be starting our nursery by end of the week 😁 got half of what he needs but ofcoarse the essentials just need a new chest of drawers for clothes! Found a lovely wall mural too online which i will be ordering later today 😁 i need to start my hospital bag tbf too as mine have always come early! haha x

TeamBluex4 · 28/09/2022 09:57

Just ordered my baby boy's wall mural ladies 😊 Have a look on dunelm as they have some good nursery wall murals plus delivery to your home is free! 😁

I've just gone to order the light fitting from Next for the nursery and it's out of stock 😭

lifechanginglemoncake · 28/09/2022 23:40

@TeamBluex4 I managed to get a 5.3 this morning so that's down from the 5.5 or 5.6 I was getting. Will see if that trend continues tomorrow. Really hope it does. I've got another growth scan at 32 and 36 weeks then possibly 40 if I get that far. All was good on the last one so fingers crossed.

JC84 · 29/09/2022 18:08

Hi ladies
So good to catch up with how everyone is getting on. I had my 28w app on Monday but she couldn't find her tape so I haven't been measured 😕 got to go back in 2 weeks instead of 3 so she can do it as any variation in protein level, measurement or BP and I have to have a growth scan due to previous pre-eclampsia
Does anyone else's little one constantly move? My boy is on the go nearly all day and night and changes positions throughout the day 😂 can't believe I'm 29 weeks tomorrow!!
My nursery is about done, I got 2 sets of wall stickers off amazon and finally found the missing 4 bits of the cotbed so I put that together at the weekend so just a massive pile of clothes to be washed in a few weeks time

buzz91 · 29/09/2022 18:44

@JC84 yes, all the time, he never seems to stop! When the midwife asked if I was feeling a pattern I had to say “no, he’s always moving”. It’s a lot of kicking with rolling going on for ages! So uncomfortable!

JC84 · 29/09/2022 18:52

@buzz91 I think I said is non stop a pattern 😂 he wants til I get home and have done the horses to move so his back is at the front - I'm sure he knows that's really uncomfortable!
I get rolls, kicks and like elastic band twanging. Little party lol

MissC07 · 29/09/2022 22:39

Had my follow up consultation with the obstetrician today, she said everything is looking good and my charts are all going well. But then I had a call with the diabetes midwife later this afternoon who said because two of my readings were 'high' for GD (literally 5.4 after fasting) that I most likely have GD and I need to continue with the blood glucose testing for the rest of the pregnancy and see a specialist every 2 weeks. Feeling really overwhelmed this afternoon as don't know who/what to believe! Also starting to worry about everything now. Why can't everyone be on the same page.

Sdoubleyou · 29/09/2022 22:56

@JC84, @buzz91, mines moving quite a bit too. He woke me up from a dead sleep a couple of nights ago, it was like fireworks were going off in my belly. The movements are definitely getting bigger (and sometimes uncomfortable/painful). I'll definitely take the lots of movement though, it's very reassuring. I started doing kick counts but get to 10 in like 2 1/2 minutes! 😂 I'm starting to get really excited, my baby shower is next week and I just want to start setting everything up. Can't believe it's going to be 30 weeks next week!

Argh so many of my friends/colleagues have covid this week, I'm struggling to avoid it 😫
I've had a cold/sore throat this week but negative LFT so must be some other rotten bug

lifechanginglemoncake · 30/09/2022 08:33

@MissC07 it's so tricky when you don't get the same advice isn't it?! I find it so stressful too. I now try to think that if two experts disagree it's likely a borderline thing where there isn't an obvious thing that needs to happen. Hopefully things will be clearer in a couple of weeks.
Hope it starts to feel less overwhelming. Growth scans can be nice as you get to see baby again though the stress of hoping all is well i find difficult.

MissC07 · 30/09/2022 09:41

@lifechanginglemoncake thank you! I found myself awake most of the night googling what I can/can't eat. It's just another thing to think about isn't it!

@SouthwestSis We've got loads of people sick with it at work too, and the trains are full of people coughing and sneezing! Hope you feel better soon

lifechanginglemoncake · 30/09/2022 09:43

The gestational diabetes UK website and Facebook group have loads of sensible suggestions and recipes to help. I've been doing it since 10 weeks and it's not easy but once you get the hang of it things get easier.

Mommabear20 · 30/09/2022 19:38

Hi all!
How's everyone doing?
Little miss is being a little madam today! I think, rather than turning head down, she's decided feet first is her exit strategy! I'm getting what feel like proper kicks very very low down, and what feels more like rolls and nudges up top 🤦‍♀️ hoping the midwife tells me different when I see her in a few weeks! 🤞

Laughingmole · 01/10/2022 11:46

I went for a growth scan yesterday as they thought he was measuring huge. But he’s right on track 🙂 a little bigger than average but within the normal range. Currently weighing 4lb 1. Which is really reassuring as he’s already a good weight if he were to come unexpectedly early!
Also lovely to see him again 🥰

HayleyBean · 01/10/2022 19:00

I had a growth scan on Thursday and baby is measuring 3lbs

Jaaxe · 01/10/2022 19:52

Those sound like good weights! Is that 28weeks? I’ve got my 28week growth scan on Wednesday 😁

Mommabear20 · 01/10/2022 20:03

Really hoping I get sent for a growth scan! I ended up with 2 with each of my other DC and found them very reassuring in the long stretch between 20 weeks and birth! I'm not sure I'll manage the next 10 weeks without that reassurance again!
