Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@Chanel05 Unfortunately I passed out after about an hour into mine (I was completely fine the first hour), so the midwives had to look after me who were really lovely. I now need to do blood glucose testing for the next week instead. I hope yours went better than mine!!!

Chanel05 · 22/09/2022 14:22

@lifechanginglemoncake my daughter was breech at 28 weeks but had moved position between 30/32 weeks. I think it's very common at that stage :).

@MissC07 oh no! Sorry to hear that. Did they say why you passed out?! Mine was fine thank you.

MissC07 · 22/09/2022 14:39

@Chanel05 they aren't sure yet. The midwives did say that I shouldn't of been put forward for that test though because I have PCOS so my body reacts differently to certain things, but who knows 🤷‍♀️

Slisha · 24/09/2022 21:08

@MissC07 oh no! Hope your next test goes smoothly. I had previously fainted once when I had blood taken after fasting overnight. I told the midwife that before she took my blood for the test at GTT. She made me lie down and that helped a lot. Good luck with yours.

Mommabear20 · 25/09/2022 07:54

The dreaded sickness bug has reached our house! Has already taken DS and DH down and apparently I'm next 😭
How's everyone else's weekend going?

MissC07 · 25/09/2022 09:28

@Slisha thank you! Am now having to do a finger prick test at home 4 times a day. The results at the moment seem to be ok so fingers crossed!

@Mommabear20 Oh no!! Hope you get better soon. My weekend has just housework, how fun 🙈 I'm also starting to get a bit more panicky now that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing/need to buy for the baby etc!

Bluebonnet3 · 26/09/2022 01:30

DH and I just got back from a long haul trip to visit my parents (27+4), and we just had a tiff about packing my hospital bag. I said I had planned to do it sometime after we got back (from this trip) and definitely before 32 weeks, but he was adamant I should do it now. I'll aim to assemble it this week for his peace of mind.

I'm fine assembling toiletries and buying some baby items, but what to do about clothes/nightwear (2-3 or more sets?) that could otherwise be used in the next couple of months?

Do you buy new things for the hospital bag and only use them at hospital and after? I have a selection of maternity things that I currently wear that will also double as nursing things, but I don't have enough to pack several sets and still have enough things to wear now. Time to go shopping?

Anyone packed their bag yet?

(I'm a bit jet-lagged and sitting up in bed wide awake.)

greenerfingers · 26/09/2022 06:38

Hello @Bluebonnet3 I'm a bit of a lurker rather than poster. I packed one ready for delivery itself and for post delivery and bought it new (more because I planned to breastfeed and wanted to be able to nurse in it). I wouldn't buy anymore sets but rather just pack one and if you need to have a longer stay send DH home to go and get you some. I have all my things (even what I'm using now) in a specific drawer so when the time comes DH is already accustomed to knowing where all the spares are (nursing tops, newborn vests and sleep suits, baby towels, breast pads etc etc).

Have some warm comfy slippers for post delivery too and other than that I'd not over pack. You may get sent home the next day.

Chanel05 · 26/09/2022 07:25

@Bluebonnet3 I packed mine at 34 weeks last time and I'll do the same this time. Also 27+4 today.

I bought a pair of £2 slippers from Primark and a couple of nighties to wear and I still use it all now but it'll go back in the bag.

It's SO hot in the postnatal ward that you won't need to wrap up too much. I wouldn't recommend using pyjamas either because if you have a catheter or a c-section, you won't be able to have anything touching your scar.

Mommabear20 · 26/09/2022 09:36

Have mine packed already as well as a bag for the kids to take to nana and grandads. I have bits from the last 2 that I could throw in straight away and thought sod it I'll just do it all now 😂 don't think I packed with my 1st till about 33 weeks though

Slisha · 26/09/2022 10:11

Anyone with low risk pregnancy met with an obstetrician yet? I've got one at 34w after insisting with the midwife everytime I met them but I had hoped for slightly earlier.

TeamBluex3 · 26/09/2022 10:32

Hi ladies, long time no speak! Had alot going on recently so been unable to post but countdown is on (30 weeks yesterday) found out i have got GD in this pregnancy so went for an early growth scan lastweek at bang on 29weeks and little man was weighing 3pounds & 6ounces already!! Anybody else got GD? Im currently on diet manangement no medication at the minute and got a review to see how things are going this thursday at the hospital.. hope you lovely ladies & your unborn babies are doing okay 💕

Jaaxe · 26/09/2022 12:54

Hi all! Hope you are all ok, nearly 27 weeks and just started buying a few bits this weekend, got my 28 week growth scan next week. Definitely not started packing my hospital bag, didn’t with any of the others till about 36 weeks but will do it a little sooner this time as they plan to deliver at 37/38 x

lifechanginglemoncake · 26/09/2022 14:03

Hi @TeamBluex3 fellow GD mummy here. Hope you're managing ok. Loads of advice on GDUK Facebook group and website which saw me through last pregnancy and this one. Hope it isn't too stressful - it takes a while to get your head round it.

PinkButtercups · 26/09/2022 14:21

@TeamBluex3 yes I have GD again got tested at 16 weeks now 26+2 and on two metformin a day. Don't have to test at lunch time anymore so only have to test 4 times instead of 6 times a day now.

Went for my 4D scan yesterday and the twins were having none of it so rescan tomorrow night , 🤞🏼 they will co operate with us 🤣.

They have changed position again and are both head down. Explains why I feel so heavy down there and can be painful to walk!

AmyAW · 26/09/2022 18:07

27 weeks today and thinking I will pack a bag around 34 weeks. Our midwife made the good point that any sooner, and none of the clothes will fit or things needed! I'll just be making sure my husband knows where everything is for me, just in case...

I've been feeling far too good recently, but hip pain has hit me HARD today! In agony sleeping on my side (even with my pregnancy pillow!). Spent the whole day on my Swiss ball, which helped a bit, then tried to walk off any residual stiffness, which worked but resulted in even worse round ligament pain.... Hoping this isn't all here to last!?

CustardSlice48 · 26/09/2022 21:06

Hi everyone! I lurked on your earlier threads a while ago, then lost track a bit, and now here I am again! I’m 28+5, having a boy, got a 2.5yo little girl already and like a few others have also got the dreaded GD- diagnosed at 18 weeks and still diet controlled but fasting levels are borderline so not sure it’ll stay that way! Starting to get excited for baby’s arrival now, in between phases of panic about how I’ll cope with two 😬

TeamBluex4 · 27/09/2022 08:46

@lifechanginglemoncake haven't got fb but my diabetic nurse give me loads of leaflets to read through ect & i think im managing okay just feels like im starving myself in one way as after i eat i still feel hungry 😕and its highly likely that i had it with my last son they said but wasn't to know as i didn't go for the test 😬its quite scary to think of risks/complications that can happen with it! Already been told me & baby will be staying in hospital for 24 hours so they can monitor mine & baby's blood sugars! x
@PinkButtercups how come your on metformin then? Was the diet not working? & 2 babies 😍wow congratulations on the twins! Do you know what gender they both are?.. luckily for me its just the singleton

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/09/2022 08:52

@TeamBluex4 have a look at the website: www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk

There's loads of recipes and meal ideas to help and I find I'm not that hungry when I use their suggestions.

The worst case scenarios are really scary but the good news is that if it's well controlled the risks are very minimal. I've got a hospital appointment this morning and I'm thinking I might end up on medication as I've had three high fasting readings in a row. However, there seems to be a pattern of this every few weeks and then they drop down again so who knows. Approaching 30 weeks now and weeks 32-36 are apparently the hardest because of the placental hormones so maybe my best just needs a bit more help through the last bit. Will see what they say.

TeamBluex4 · 27/09/2022 08:56

@PinkButtercups seems like i ran out of room as i can't see my full post but also found out since 28w midwife appointment my little man is also head-down! It doesn't feel painful for me when i walk but have noticed the further along im getting lightning crotch when im sjust chilling & also strangely it seems to be accomponied by like these twinges/spasms around my anus!? 🤔😂anybody else? 😂

TeamBluex4 · 27/09/2022 09:02

@lifechanginglemoncake yes im aware of that website thankyou & i want to try the mushroom & spring onion omlette recipe! Looks yummy haha have you tried any of the meal ideas on their? & hopefully everything will be ok for you today 😊 let us know what they have said after you have been to the hospital x

Dora2018 · 27/09/2022 11:45

Just had my 28 week bloods back and it is showing that I am severely anaemic 3ug/l to be precise. I have been prescribed iron tablets which I have started taking will I have my bloods redone to check they are working does anyone know.

hopefulsunshine11 · 27/09/2022 14:48

Has anyone started to or finished their nurseries yet? 😁

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/09/2022 15:39

So @TeamBluex4 it looks like I might have to start metformin. I got the prescription today but I'm about to go away for work for 2 days and it can have side effects you don't want when away with colleagues so they said ok to starting on Friday. If my fasting level comes down by then I can delay starting and continue to see how I go. Going to try everything I can to see if I can get it down through diet and exercise.

SouthwestSis · 27/09/2022 15:39

@Dora2018 not sure if you will have your iron level rechecked buy taking your iron with something containing vitamin C like orange juice can help.
Hope the anaemia improves soon!
