Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@Laughingmole that's the correct dose. It's usually a 200mg tablet three times a day. Iron is absorbed better with vitamin C so have some orange juice with them if you can tolerate it :)

Jaaxe · 11/09/2022 18:21

@MadamMaltesers no experience but how did u get on at a&e?

Can anyone tell me, for the gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning….do I have to fast from midnight? Does this include drinks? Water? Can I have a cup of tea? I don’t seem to have had any info on this from the hospital

TradedAtlanta · 11/09/2022 19:07

@Jaaxe mine was at 8.50am and I had to fast from 10pm the night before. I was allowed water after that but no other drinks. I'd recommend drinking quite a lot of water in the morning as blood tests are much easier if you are well hydrated. My body also tolerated the glucose drink much better this time round when I'd had a fair amount to drink. First pregnancy I felt like I was going to faint!

Jaaxe · 11/09/2022 19:12

@TradedAtlanta thanks for this! I’ll do what you did and hope it’s the same at my hospital 🤣

JC84 · 14/09/2022 06:24

Morning ladies, how are you all getting on?
I hit 26 weeks last week and feel like I've grown daily ever since! He appears to have turned with his back to my belly button as its really tight and hard and I can feel the waddle kicking in very now and then 🤣
9 more weeks at work to go 🙌🏻 although I'm still doing hours of overtime every day trying to get them semi prepped for Christmas

Mommabear20 · 14/09/2022 08:02

Morning! I'm 28 weeks today! Can't believe how fast the last month has gone! I've got 4 and a bit weeks left at work, finishing a little earlier than I planned, but with the run up to Christmas, I want to be able to spend some time with my DH and DC before this little one arrives. Definitely feeling bigger now!

MadamMaltesers · 14/09/2022 12:17

@Jaaxe I'm feeling a lot better thanks, just getting daily ctg monitoring at the hospital this week as well which is reassuring.

@Mommabear20 I'm 28 weeks and a few days and yes time is absolutely flying.

Slisha · 14/09/2022 12:44

I'm nearly 28w and now it's so obviously noticeable!
Btw, I have my 28w appointment on Monday 19Sep. Wondering if any of you have had your appointments cancelled because of the bank holiday. Haven't heard from the midwife and have been on the phone for a while.

@Jaaxe hope your GTT was ok. I thought I would throw up after drinking the liquid. But midwife said I'll need to repeat the test if I throw up so kept sipping water and keeping it down for two hours...

@Sdoubleyou I can vouch for the hoka shoes now. I spent the whole day yesterday in my work shoes and the pain was unbearable by the end. Switched to hoka shoes and the pain went away in 2min. Now I'm going to wear them everyday!!! But they are expensive though, I bought the cheapest shoe they had and it was still £65.

BoyMum18 · 14/09/2022 12:46

Hope you don't mind me joining, I'm currently 28+5, I was on the first thread for due in December but life is busy and I neglected it! Been signed off work and desperately needing adult conversation! Haha. Hope pregnancy is treating you all well

Slisha · 14/09/2022 13:39

Regarding my 28w appointment on 19 Sep, I called my GP and after waiting for so long on the phone, I was told to call the birth center (which I know is closed for operational reasons). When I said the birth center is closed, she insisted that the birth center still handled the bookings.
I called the birth center and was told it's closed so they can't help me and I need to call the GP. When I said GP asked me to call them, she insisted she can't access my records or bookings. But she said oh I don't think any appointments have been cancelled for Monday, everything is going ahead.
Now I'm not sure who is responsible for me anymore. I wanted to ask my GTT results and didn't even get to that point.

Jaaxe · 14/09/2022 13:58

@Slisha GTT test went fine thanks, got my results back today on badger app, says all normal. Have u checked the app? Also I work in nhs, not 100% sure what’s going on on Monday where I work yet as we seem to be being drip fed info but I think the general info so far is if we have patient visits that need to go ahead then they should go ahead, not sure who decides which should and shouldn’t yet though etc sorry not much help x

Slisha · 14/09/2022 14:32

@Jaaxe thanks that's helpful that they haven't cancelled appointments across NHS. I'll show up and hope it goes ahead. We don't have Badger app here unfortunately. I had asked one of midwives previously. Would have been so much better to be able to see all the tests in one place.

Vg92 · 14/09/2022 16:07

Need reassuring, please!
I was measured on 97 centile at 27+5 days. The midwife was not massively concerned but said I may need extra scans. I had private scan at 25+2 days and the baby was on 50 centile back then. I have another appointment tomorrow but at the moment I am very worried. Has anyone have experience with 97 centile?

TradedAtlanta · 14/09/2022 16:13

Hi @Vg92 . I don't have experience with a very high measurement, but in my first pregnancy I measured super small (sub 5th centile) and got sent for a growth scan where they had no concerns. Baby was born 75th centile! I just must have carried a lot in my back. Not the case this time round. I haven't been measured yet but I feel and look huge already. Please don't worry too much about the measurements. It is so far from an exact science. The chance that the baby has grown from 50th to 97th centile in 2 weeks is small.

Mommabear20 · 14/09/2022 16:17

@Slisha yes! I had my 28 week appointment booked for Monday and got a phone call today to reschedule as they're closed for the funeral

Sdoubleyou · 15/09/2022 22:54

Hi all, hope everyone's doing well! I'm 27w2d, crazy that the third trimester is just around the corner!

Baby is thumping away, which is so reassuring! My DP was feeling my belly last night and couldn't believe how big the movements were! I'm starting to even be able to distinguish a butt or a foot.

I went to the Physio for my leg problems. She gave me some exercises for the plantar fasciitis and for my piriformis (stabilizing butt muscle). My hip was also giving me some problems and it's a teeny tiny muscle (close to the sciatic nerve) that was the culprit. If anyone has these problems I can share what she suggested to me.

greenerfingers · 16/09/2022 06:37

@Vg92 my first measured far too small by midwife so went for emergency growth scan where they said he was huge and 90th plus. Within hours they went from one extreme to another. I refused any inductions as I've read just how inexact those scans are. He came at 39+6 at a very in between 7lbs. At that time they'd predicted him to be 10lb!

greenerfingers · 16/09/2022 06:39

@Sdoubleyou I'd love to hear what was suggested please. I have PGP so suffer badly with my hip, groin, and buttock muscles.

Jaaxe · 16/09/2022 06:54

@Sdoubleyou please share, I suffer so bad with pgp, hip back and bum pain. Last pregnancy needed hydrotherapy, acupuncture and crutches….I’d do anything to avoid all that again.

@vg92 was this by tape? I wouldn’t worry too much….last pregnancy I measured very small on the tape measure throughout, below the bottom line and they kept sending me for growth scans…..each time the scan came back she wasn’t small, and was actually on the 50th centile….she was born around the 50th at 7lb 11. I did also have a 98th centile baby before her….never sent for growth scans as my bump measured normal on tape. Did have one growth scan right at the end around 36weeks as I was deciding on vbac or elective section and wanted to know the size of the baby to help my decision….growth scan predicted he was already over 8.5pounds at that point….he came out at 39weeks exactly at 9lb 10. So for me the growth scans were more accurate than the tape measure x

Sdoubleyou · 16/09/2022 13:15

Definitely! The first photo is for the piriformis, just a cross-body stretch. The others are for the plantar fasciitis. I realize they're all in French. But it should be easy to understand with the photos.

How's everyone doing this weekend? I'm loving the slightly chillier weather and getting the kids bundled up to go to the park this morning🥰

Tofu35 · 17/09/2022 17:23

Doing okay @Mommabear20. I have a friend visiting from Canada and she's brought her wee 4 month old so it's been a very cute day :)

HayleyBean · 18/09/2022 07:32

Is anyone planning to batch cook loads of freezable dinners before baby is due? Did anyone do this with their first and find it useful?

Jaaxe · 18/09/2022 07:48

Hey @HayleyBean i plan on doing this, we’ve done it previously and it works well especially if you have older kids, had a C-section, got lots of visitors round, partner has to go back to work early or baby is cluster feeding. We also did it when my mum was unwell. You might get lucky and people bring you meals too 🤣 things like chilli, spag Bol, lasagne, cottage pie tended to be the easiest things. X

TradedAtlanta · 18/09/2022 10:09

@HayleyBean I'll be doing it too. In fact started this weekend. My DH is not a great cook and it would be really depressing to be stuck on the sofa all afternoon breastfeeding and only have one of his 'creations' to look forward to! If short of time, suggest cook vouchers to friends and family as a gift. Has the feeling of home cooked meal without the effort.
