Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@Mommabear20 how did you find it? Did they give you your results there and then?

Mommabear20 · 05/09/2022 21:38

@Wanderlust16 I hate the GTT 😂 for me it's the worst part of pregnancy, because my morning sickness is brought on when my stomach is empty so not being able to eat for 12-14 hours is awful! And they called this afternoon with the results so not immediate but also not weeks of waiting.

HayleyBean · 07/09/2022 07:36

@Mommabear20 you can buy ferrous sulphate 200mg OTC if you need to. Quicker than waiting for a doctor. We sell them for only a few quid for a pack of 28

Tofu35 · 07/09/2022 20:58

Had a good energy day yesterday so made a big tub of stew to last us a few days. Today I woke up knackered and stayed knackered all day. I've never been happier to see a Tupperware full of stew in the fridge. No fuss, no work. Just filling and nutritious food.

Had it with a baked potato so had a nap while that cooked in the oven 😅

Hope we're all doing okay! Anyone else feeling knackered and achey when they wake up in the morning?

MrsN3 · 07/09/2022 21:13

Hey everyone- my question is what prams have you all purchased/ will be purchasing?

We went to John Lewis and had our free nursery appointment which gives you discount off purchases afterwards- happily we ordered an icandy peach. Unfortunately, it arrived and the frame itself wouldn’t lock and bent when trying to erect it and the carrycot holders snapped under the strain of the material. Exchanged today to a different one and the frame was perfect but again same issue with the carrycot- didn’t snap but has bent so now we’re stressing out that this is may be an issue with all icandys if we do change to the same or should we just choose a completely different pram?!

Anyone have same issues with icandy? Or can you recommend a simple set up pram? Thanks I’m advance lovelies xx

greenerfingers · 07/09/2022 21:42

Hello @MrsN3, I bought a mammas and papas pram for my first which I'll be using again the second time. Had no issues at all with carry cot

mamaninthelakes · 07/09/2022 21:46

Hi @MrsN3,
I got a second hand Mountain Buggy Urban jungle. I love it. It's just the perfect fit for where I live (in the country side). I'd say try to think about where you might take your little one because not all prams are suitable for everyone. When I travel/go to a city I have a mountain buggy nano which folds very small.

chardaboo · 07/09/2022 23:12

@MrsN3 what's the discount they give you ? I was interested in the icandy peach but I'm hoping I don't have these issues too 😫. I tried mine at a different type of store but there wasn't any discounts etc

MrsN3 · 08/09/2022 06:04

@greenerfingers i have heard good things about mamas papas so will check out their prams as a back up! @mamaninthelakes we chose the icandy peach as it can go on all terrain- we’re considering a third time lucky before throwing in the towel as it was just the “perfect pram” for us.
@chardaboo so if you book the appointment with them at the end of it they give you 10% off if you spend £1000 and 15% off if you spend £1500- we ended up basically having our car seat for free with buying the icandy, the car seat and isofix.
i honestly feel we’ve had a bad batch of them as when I’ve phoned they say they don’t usually get these issues. Here’s hoping I either throes time lucky or I’m back debating between uppababy and egg 😂😂

greenerfingers · 08/09/2022 06:38

Hope it goes well third time. If not mamas and papas was perfect for me as I wanted all terrain too and something not too bulky or too small. I used it on the roads and for long country walks. It served me well Smile (also made sure I used it as much as I could as my husband said I never will make much use of it and will stick to the car haha)

Mommabear20 · 08/09/2022 08:02

Don't have any suggestions on prams as we have had 2 different ones (1 single mothercare, and then 1 city select double) both were okay but nothing fantastic, but we move onto pushchair as soon as we can, so I plan to have baby in a sling for the most part this time so older two can stay in the double pushchair. I honestly can't recommend a good baby sling enough!!! I found ours fantastic for our first two, as they'd nap in it inside the house loads two which meant I was hands free to play with my older child or get some jobs done around the house, helped loads with their wind as well as they were upright and moving.

greenerfingers · 08/09/2022 08:11

I wish I could have worn a sling @Mommabear20 ! My sciatica and pelvic girdle pain are so bad post birth I can't even wear my newborn in one Sad. Would literally make life so much easier and less bulky.

TradedAtlanta · 08/09/2022 08:44

@Mommabear20 what sling do you recommend for newborn period? I have an ergobaby but I think it's too structured for the squishy newborn phase. Last time round I had a long wrap (hand-me-down) but it wasn't very stretchy and I permanently felt like a was wrestling with some kind of massive snake!

snufkin84 · 08/09/2022 09:56

@TradedAtlanta I used a hand-me-down Hana stretchy wrap up to about 3 months with my first - I found it wasn't too long and much more manageable than the free one I got (in Scotland) with my baby box. I did have a carrycot for our buggy but basically never used it! Hoping to mostly baby-wear this time round too so I can be as hands-free and mobile as possible when with both kids.

MrsN3 · 08/09/2022 19:31

A sling is a great idea- thank you!
We’re hoping third time lucky and then we can just enjoy the pram for this baby and hopefully future ones after this!

thank you all for getting back to me- really appreciate it- can feel a bit lonely with pregnancy at times so it’s nice to have this community

Slisha · 09/09/2022 10:27

@Sdoubleyou yes! I feel you. I'm generally very active but sometimes, out of the blue, when I walk my arch of my foot feels like it is tearing away from my heel and I can't take another step.
My midwife said my arch is very high and the extra weight is pushing it down. She said to buy shoes with good arch support. A friend suggested hoka brand. I just got new hoka shoes yesterday and went for an hour walk. So far so good. I can feel some arch support when I walk but had them just for a day so can't say if it solved the problem. I hope so.

Laughingmole · 10/09/2022 13:33

Has anyone else been put on iron tablets? I had my bloods taken this week and have just picked up my prescription. They have put me on 600mg a day! Is this normal?! Seems very high!

Mommabear20 · 10/09/2022 16:18

@Laughingmole I've been told to get a prescription from gp but as it's almost impossible to get appointments with my gp I've still not been able to get any 😡

Jaaxe · 10/09/2022 17:01

What week do they do bloods? I’ve appt with the midwife next week at 25weeks, will they do them then? I’ve needed iron tablets or iron infusions in my last pregnancies so I can see it being the same this time x

Chanel05 · 10/09/2022 17:10

@Jaaxe my bloods are at my 28 week appointment.

Laughingmole · 10/09/2022 17:24

Yeah it was my 28 week appointment (which I had at 27+4). I had the appointment on Thursday and got a text yesterday telling me to pick them up straight from the pharmacy.

@Mommabear20 can your midwife not do your bloods?

Mommabear20 · 10/09/2022 17:36

I had my bloods done at my GTT last week when they said I needed to see the gp for a prescription but can't get a appointment with gp for love nor money!

Orcarain · 10/09/2022 18:13

Had my 25 week appointment today. All was well. Baby is measuring a week ahead.

Midwife said the baby’s foot was underneath my right rib cage… but I could have told her that already.

Last night I started to get belly button pain. Discussed this with her and she says I’m not currently showing signs of muscle separation… but to prepare for it!

Jaaxe · 10/09/2022 19:01

Thanks guys! Ive my gestational diabetes test on Monday wasn’t sure if they’d do them with that x

MadamMaltesers · 11/09/2022 12:36

Does any have any experience of autoimmune diseases? I have systemic lupus and have been having a massive flare since yday. Rang the obstetrics number and they told me to go to a+e. I hope this amount of inflammation is not damaging the baby. I'm 28 weeks today.
