Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@greenerfingers Oh, that sounds awful 😔😔. So glad everything was ok for you in the end. It's just such a worrying time, I've not been able to relax and be excited much really. Hoping it goes away and stays away!

Did you have a lot of pain? She definitely said my cervix was shut and still high up.

I'll keep an eye on how things go but I'm hoping the scan on Saturday will put me at ease as they will check his movements, size and the placenta.

Thanks

Wanderlust16 · 01/09/2022 10:10

I had a bit of bleeding at 23 weeks and everytime I got sent home it started again so I ended up having to go back a few times. I’d really recommend telling maternity assessment each time it happens. Although it’s a pain it’s better to be safe and looked at than not! I hope it stops really soon!

greenerfingers · 01/09/2022 10:16

Hopefully it's nothing but irritation @hopefulsunshine11. And glad you got a scan for Saturday, I didn't get anything like that. The anxiety would eat me up till 34 or so weeks. Then I calmed a bit but was still so uneasy till 37 weeks. A part of me still has that with this pregnancy. I'm always rushing it along.

hopefulsunshine11 · 01/09/2022 10:28

@Wanderlust16 @greenerfingers

I'll call them if it keeps happening, they did say to, although I feel like I'm being a nuisance, I know I need to listen to my gut. I've came into work but probably should have taken a few days off. I don't have a particular demanding job as I'm office based but should be at home with my feet up I think.

We booked a private one, I went there at 16 weeks and they were amazing so hoping all ok this time and we get to see him wriggling about happy and healthy.

greenerfingers · 01/09/2022 10:40

Sitting was what triggered my irritation, sitting cross legged on a soft sofa. So yes definitely if you can take some time off and rest would be a good idea

JC84 · 01/09/2022 16:59

@hopefulsunshine11 sorry to hear you are going through that and fingers crossed it settles and is nothing to worry about. I'm getting quite a few cramps most days too. You should start to feel them move more and more as you get to 28 weeks when they should be getting into a pattern, which you then start to monitor. At 25 weeks my wriggly boy is non stop from the minute I wake up til I try and go to sleep, maximum they sleep is 90 minutes, usually less so they're the only breaks I get!
I think if you're super busy and moving about you don't feel as many of the smaller movements but as he gets bigger they will get stronger and more obvious for you.
Let us know how the scan goes x

Slisha · 03/09/2022 10:22

We went to a friend's home last night and brought back a basinnet, car seat and pregnancy pillow. First baby items are in the house!!! Excited but also nervous 😊

Orcarain · 03/09/2022 11:09

Baby’s strength is growing! Can’t lie on my back anymore without massive kicks! And I absolutely LOVE IT! Still only feeling her just at the bottom of my bump. Was told my anterior placenta was only 3cm away from my cervix, so by that I’m going on it hasn’t moved much since my 20 week scan.

Vg92 · 04/09/2022 01:05

Hope it is normal???
I am 26+4 days first time mum with anterior placenta. Over the last 5weeks or so I feel my baby's movements in my mid abdomen. Over the last few hours though I feel him in my very low abdomen, almost like I can feel it to my cervix/vagina. There is no pain or discharge but i googled it could be a sign of labour. I know google is a really bad idea but just could not resist.
I am mainly concerned because at my 20 weeks scan my cervix length was aboutl 33mm and NHS guidelines are 35-40mm.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Thank you.

tasha4eva10 · 04/09/2022 02:37

@Vg92 yes this is normal. My placenta is the same and I feel my daughter low in my abdomen, I had a scan last week and they said it was because she's currently breech so head is by bellybutton and feet in abdomen so that's why there's more feeling there. Hope this helps reassure you x

greenerfingers · 04/09/2022 03:03

@Vg92 being a sufferer of short cervix I can empathise. It is normal to feel baby low at times, the other day I felt like mine was about to headbutt his/her way out. For me with my history I booked in a private scan and saw baby had gone from transverse to head down which means more pressure generally and can be very discomforting on the cervix. But the baby was also high up so no cervix shortening.

Perhaps it may be worth getting a private scan, or suggesting it to your midwife to have you booked in (if you're in the UK they tend not to like giving these scans as it's an internal scan and could a) irritate the cervix if it is indeed short, b) they say the baby is viable so worst comes to worst they have nicu ready- not what you want to hear I know).

If you can get off your feet the next few days/ weeks try to do so to get the pressure off and lastly the cervix shortens and lengthens as it pleases, toward the end of the second trimester it tends to increase length as baby moves up more but can feel like it's actually shortened. Mine was 0.9 at 23 weeks and I felt nada, I had an emergency procedure and bed rest till 34 weeks and by then it felt sooo short but was actually fine and I delivered at 40 week.

Vg92 · 04/09/2022 08:23

@tasha4eva10 thank you soo much! I feels so much better to know it is not only me!

@greenerfingers thank you for sharing your experience with me. I am glad everything ended up well for you. My plan is rest and staying at bed for sure. Fingers crossed the baby will move up again soon.

greenerfingers · 04/09/2022 10:20

Sounds a good plan @Vg92 .

How are you @hopefulsunshine11?

hopefulsunshine11 · 04/09/2022 14:33

@JC84 @greenerfingers

Hi, scan went well thanks! He's measuring as he should and looks nice and healthy 💙.

So relieved!

greenerfingers · 04/09/2022 14:46

Ah great to hear! Hopefully you can have a sigh of relief now and no more bleeds!!

JC84 · 04/09/2022 14:47

Ah that's great to hear!

Jaaxe · 04/09/2022 18:05

That’s really good news!! X

Orcarain · 04/09/2022 18:54

My mum and I went to a second hand baby fair today and I couldn’t resist these!! 50p! I’m never out of my Cons so hoping she’ll be like her mother 😂.

Anterior placenta ladies... I know there are a few of us! How much is everyone feeling now?

I'm getting a few kicks at my sides and low down, but baby goes through long periods of being quite quiet and has no routine. I'm finding it so hard not to worry, despite MW telling us it's normal to feel less! Currently 24 weeks....

MissC07 · 04/09/2022 21:06

@AmyAW I'm 25 weeks now and some days I feel a lot more (although usually when I'm lying down in bed) other days I barely feel/notice anything. When he does kick it's usually lower down. I had a consultant appt on Thurs and they listened to his heartbeat and everything was fine, so I try not to think about the movements too much x

buzz91 · 04/09/2022 21:15

@AmyAW tbh I’m finding it a bit odd as I’m getting a lot of strong movement, more so than I did with my first. It tends to be slightly lower down, but middle and sides and sometimes right in the middle of my belly. Not sure where my placenta is sitting, just that they said it’s anterior

AmyAW · 04/09/2022 21:24

@MissC07 This is exactly like me - I'm hating the quieter days and constantly worry until I feel wriggles again! Hoping things get more consistent soon....

Bluebonnet3 · 04/09/2022 23:02

I mainly feel baby moving in the evenings (when I'm reclining on the couch) and have felt it more regularly the past couple of weeks. Couldn't really identify any movements before that. I'm 24 weeks now with high anterior placenta. The movements are all really low down mainly on the sides.

I have my 25 week midwife appointment this Friday and diabetes screening the following Mon. Other than that nothing much is going on. Still waking up some nights with leg cramps and tend to have heartburn in the evenings (when I eat too much). And it seems like most Thursdays I get really tired by midday, after working all week. I'm tempted to use some holidays to go down to a 4-day week, maybe starting in Oct.

Sdoubleyou · 05/09/2022 13:14

Hi, have any of you been dealing with plantar fasciitis? I think that's what I have. When I stretch my right leg the heel feels like it's stretching/almost a tearing feeling. I've been staying active and doing the recommended stretches, as well as getting massages, but it's only getting worse. Anyone else with this? Have you found something that helps?

Had my GTT today, thankfully results were negative for gestational diabetes, but they said my iron levels are very low (probably explains the dizzy spells are exhaustion!) so now have to try and get a prescription from the gp 🤦‍♀️
