Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

So glad to hear everyone’s scans went well today! Very jealous of everyone finding out what they’re having, can’t believe I’m not going to this time but I feel like with it being my last I need to experience the “suprise” at the end this time 🤣

Please tell me I’m not the only one suffering with uncomfortable bloatedness in an evening, I honestly feel like my tummy is absolutely full of trapped wind like it’s going to explode, i go from looking normal size for my gestation in a morning to full term in an evening 😩 anyone else? Any tips? X

Slisha · 26/07/2022 22:55

Congratulations to all those who have had their scan

Thank you @JC84 and@Jaaxe yeah I also feel like my boobs are two sizes up. And nothing fits me lately.
And clearly my belly shows. Someone at work congratulated me and I was so surprised. I wanted to keep it quiet till the 20w scan. 😅

Tofu35 · 27/07/2022 08:04

@Jaaxe no advice only sympathy from me! My friend and her 4 year old were round last night for a cup of tea and the 4yo solemnly looked at me and said "you have a baby in your belly". So I solemnly looked at her and said "yes, and lots of farts too". She started giggling and ran away.

The bloat is real!

Orcarain · 27/07/2022 12:06

I bought tea from this place to help during bloating in the first trimester. www.mummysorganics.co.uk/

Absolutely phenomenal, you actually feel it working. A mother and daughter team who are both former midwives, so everything is super safe for mum and baby.

Nutella99 · 27/07/2022 12:56

Freaking out about nursery places. I know two around here are already full for December 2023 when I'll be due back to work. The others haven't got back to me 😶yet. How can it already be too late to book places when I'm only 21 weeks pregnant?! What's the alternative? Childminders?

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/07/2022 13:00

@Nutella99 I'm lucky that we will be using the same nursery as my toddler is at and I know they have places.

Sometimes people put their children down for more than one nursery and then see which place comes up at the right time. This means there may be a waiting list you can join? Might also be worth looking into doing that yourself if the deposits are small.

Childcare is a bit mad depending on your location. You're still pretty early so you should be able to find something.

DogsAndGin · 27/07/2022 16:01

@Nutella99 thank you for mentioning nursery places! Just called one that has been recommended and indeed they are filing up for Dec 2023! 😱 Going to meet them next week

Mommabear20 · 27/07/2022 16:20

Y'all have got me worried about nurseries now! My DD is supposed to start next September and starting to think I've left it too late to get her in!

lifechanginglemoncake · 27/07/2022 16:23

Depends how old she is @Mommabear20 as the staffing ratios mean there can often be more places for 2&3 year olds than for babies and 1 year olds.

Also - anyone looking at paying for childcare make sure you know about the government's tax free childcare account as it will save you 20%.

Had the 20 week scan today and found out it's a boy!

Although when they were looking at the brain, the sonographer found something unexpected (they said "oh at 20 weeks I wouldn't be looking at this part of the brain but but this might need another look"). So they asked for a second opinion and then a medical opinion but I was allowed to go home and they booked me in for another scan next week.

so just need to keep positive until next Friday when we can see the wee guy again. Fingers crossed it's all okay!

JC84 · 27/07/2022 19:35

I have loosely thought about nurseries but I just can't bring myself to ring or ask about or look at any until he's here as I would feel like I was jinxing myself! I dont even know at this stage how many days I'd be looking at or anything 🤷🏼‍♀️
20w scan today, although only 19+5 and all looking well and on or around the 15th centile and measurements in proportion to each other. He assured this sonographer he was a little boy too 🙈

Jaaxe · 27/07/2022 19:46

@jc84 I’m the exact same, can’t bring myself to book in for nursery either for same reason and also don’t feel ready to let anyone know I’m pregnant either cz I just expect bad things to happen…I have a daughter in the nursery at the moment so I know it’s literally a case of putting ourselves in for dec 2023/Jan 2024, won’t even have to pay a holding fee or anything but I just don’t feel ready to, like my anxiety stops me. I know places book up fast though as I had to book my daughter in after my 12 week scan to guarantee her place xx

JC84 · 27/07/2022 20:25

I don't want to tell people but its fairly obvious thanks to my rather large bump so after my week off I will stop trying to hide it at work etc. I don't have much in the way of body confidence but I promised myself this time I was going to try and embrace it rather than viewing it as getting fat but it's tough going when your not used to your belly button going out more than your knees 😂 i haven't missed these DD boobs either!!
We've got a few options for nurseries so I'm just going to leave it until he's here. If I can't find one I can't go back to work 🤣

Mommabear20 · 28/07/2022 07:54

How's everyone doing today?
I've got my whooping cough vaccine today, my mum is coming to watch the kids so I might treat myself to a drive thru McDonald's and 10 minutes peace on my way to the doctors! 😂
Felt very uncomfortable yesterday, they said at the scan that she's currently laying transverse and stretched out as much as she can 😂 so feeling pressure on either side of my belly which was not fun! Think she must have curled up slightly today though as not feeling like I'm being stretched as much today!

Tofu35 · 28/07/2022 13:56

I was telling mum yesterday about the transverse shenanigans of our wee one at the scan yesterday and she was like "you were the same, I needed a C-section because you didn't want to move". Thanks for the support! 😬

Ooh a sneaky McDonald's, I like your style!

tasha4eva10 · 28/07/2022 13:58

Transverse does not sound fun! When I had a scan on Tuesday they said my daughter was breech but she's been stubborn every scan so far so no doubt she will continue to haha

chardaboo · 28/07/2022 14:06

has anyone else had cramp type feelings round about week 17/18 mark. it was like period type cramps on an off for about an hour but not sure if it's just stretching/growing coz I seem to be a bit bigger than last week. There's no other issues to note.

tasha4eva10 · 28/07/2022 14:09

@chardaboo yes I did last night. Right around the lower abdomen/pubic area. I think it was just stretching pains

chardaboo · 28/07/2022 14:44

@tasha4eva10 good to know I'm not alone then . can sometimes overthink things when it's the first baby

tasha4eva10 · 28/07/2022 14:56

@chardaboo ya I know what you mean, this is my second but there's a 12 year age difference and it feels like it's my first again haha. So much anxiety this time round

Sdoubleyou · 28/07/2022 16:54

Had my anatomy scan today. Baby is lazy in the mornings (like mama) so the tech had a relatively easy time getting measurements. She spent A LOT of time on the heart and I was getting nervous but she said it was just more difficult to get measurements and it's one of the most important ones. Hopefully everything is ok, can't wait to get results from my doctor soon. Looks like all the parts are there, hopefully all is well. I feel him every day so that's comforting. She confirmed my placenta is posterior lucky I've been feeling kicks and jabs for a while. Also baby boy does indeed have his parts 😂.

My cousins brought over a ton of baby clothing and stuff to my parents'. My mom and I tore into it and I thought I was going to die of cuteness. I can't wait!

Hope everyone is well!

Needing a bit of reassurance.
Anyone else on second baby and not feeling any movement at nearly 20 weeks? I’ll be 20 weeks on Monday.
I have an anterior placenta and totally can’t remember when I felt my little boy moving for the first time!

I have an anterior placenta and have only felt them move in the past couple of weeks ( I’m 22 weeks tomorrow)

Tofu35 · 29/07/2022 10:17

Happy Friday everyone. Does anyone have nice weekend plans?
My weekend is very clear but I have a work leaving do and an 18th to go to tonight. I'll be knackered!!

Mommabear20 · 29/07/2022 13:21

@Tofu35 using every ounce of self restraint I have to not go baby clothes shopping now we know baby is a girl! 😂
