Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

My scan went well today, and it's a boy 😊 We didn't really have a preference (understandable that some people do, especially when it's not your first!). I was convinced it was a boy and DH thought girl, so I'm just pleased I was right 😂

Mommabear20 · 20/07/2022 18:25

I'm so jealous of all y'all having your scans and finding out what you're having 😂 mines not till next Tuesday! Still feels like forever away!

MissC07 · 20/07/2022 18:45

@Mommabear20 mine is next Tuesday too, we can wait together 🤣

HayleyBean · 20/07/2022 18:48

@Mommabear20 my scan isn't until next weds so I feel you!

Congrats to everyone on their scans this week though 😍

@Mammatob i also don’t have much of a bump but my clothes are definitely getting tighter! Here is a photo I’ve just taken in work!

@Solstice143 i don’t think you need a full bladder for 20 week scan as the uterus has moved out the pelvis by then.

I’ve got my 17 week scan on Friday and I have no idea if I need a full bladder or not, might go with one and empty if not required 🤷‍♀️

@Mammatob sorry forgot to attach pic, hope my scan shows there’s still a baby ok in there 😬

Hello all! Hope you don't mind me joining so late. I'm 19+3 currently with my first, due 12/12. My 20w is a week away and I'm very nervous. Good to hear the positive vibes from everyone's 20w !

PinkButtercups · 20/07/2022 22:32

My 20 week scan isn't until 16th August.
Had my 16 week appt yesterday and got to hear both heartbeats 🥰.

Have my GD test tomorrow so fasting atm since 8:30pm and I really want a cold Pepsi Max 😬.

PinkButtercups · 20/07/2022 22:34

Also we won't be finding out the sex of the twins as we didn't with our son. The temptation is there like it was with DS but I'm going to hold out! 🤣

Mommabear20 · 21/07/2022 07:25

@PinkButtercups we didn't find out with our first, but did with our second and DH wants to this time. I think there's pros and cons to both approaches but defo liked the surprise at the end with DD!

Chanel05 · 21/07/2022 07:51

I am 18 weeks today and had an NHS cervical length scan yesterday. Needed it because I had an emergency c-section with my first at 10cm and this can cause it to erode. All fine but need to go every two weeks to ensure this stays the same.

It was a midwife and then after the internal, she did an abdominal scan so we could see baby again. She knew we'd had a gender scan and asked if she wanted us to check and it most certainly is a little boy!! Very kindly, she printed us off some photos again.

Tofu35 · 21/07/2022 09:30

Quick question for those second/third/fourth time mums, what should I expect from baby movement at 19 weeks? I've been getting a few mini pops around my abdomen, but is that 'movement' or just the beauty of pregnancy related gastric problems 😂

obviously they're too wee at this point to have a big kick, but just wondered if these pops were something to celebrate (or take a gaviscon for...)

lifechanginglemoncake · 21/07/2022 09:38

Second timer here. That sounds about right. I had a few of those the first time round but wasn't sure and then had it at the ultrasound when I saw baby moving so that confirmed it!

I think it's perfectly normal to feel little pops and flutters or rolls at this stage as well as not feeling anything for another couple of weeks.

Mommabear20 · 21/07/2022 09:48

@Tofu35 it could well be both! 😂 but I'd put money in baby having a wriggle 🥰 I've been feeling movements the last few days which is lovely!

Jaaxe · 21/07/2022 11:22

@Tofu35 this will be our 4th and I haven’t felt anything yet which is strange as I always felt mine around 16 weeks even the one with anterior placenta and I’m 17 weeks now, got scan tomorrow so hope all is well 😬 x

DogsAndGin · 21/07/2022 17:06

@KittyKat1989 just an update to tell you about the ELCS process. I met the consultant today, she asked if I’d done research, and why I wanted one, but she didn’t test or probe me. She just said to be aware of the risks for subsequent implantations.

And then it was basically, ‘do you want aromatherapy with that?’ And she gave me a little menu of options like low-lighting and music.

Then there’ll be a final consultation at 36 weeks to book the date in, and go through the finer details and choices.

It’ll be 39 weeks, 8th Dec.

Really quick and easy, and not at all a fight to get one.

Tofu35 · 21/07/2022 20:32

That is great they were supportive of your decision @DogsAndGin xx

RhiRhi1996 · 21/07/2022 23:21

I know it's a while away yet but I was surprised to find out at my 16 week midwife appointment that my next midwife appointment (24 weeks), she will visit me at home rather than me going to the hospital.

Is this normal? Just can't understand why she wants to visit me at home for that appointment rather than hospital.

Jaaxe · 22/07/2022 06:36

@RhiRhi1996 ive never had a midwife come to my home during pregnancy in any of my previous pregnancies, only once baby is born and we were home but all trusts work differently and I’ve heard they do do it in other areas x

buzz91 · 22/07/2022 09:48

@RhiRhi1996 also never had a Home visit pre-baby, but never had a midwife appointment at the hospital either so as Jaaxe says I just think trusts differ

DogsAndGin · 22/07/2022 11:31

@RhiRhi1996 at least it saves you sitting in the waiting room for ages 😅 I waited an hour yesterday!

Jaaxe · 22/07/2022 13:08

Just had my 17 week scan, all good, she asked if I wanted to know the gender but I declined….it was VERY hard not to cave and find out 🤣🙈

tasha4eva10 · 22/07/2022 13:09

@Jaaxe wow you have more self control than I do 🤣

JC84 · 22/07/2022 16:22

Is anyone else worried about just how big their bump is? I'm 19 weeks today and there's no hiding this! Slightly concerned as it just went from nothing to huge maybe 2/3 weeks ago

KittyKat1989 · 22/07/2022 16:36

@DogsAndGin Thank you so much for sharing and for your honesty. It's great to hear that you are being treated well - quite rightly!

I am very anxious about the birth - being out of control, not knowing what is happening, living 30 minutes away from the hospital. I also feel like I am at a higher risk of needing intervention (higher BMI, elevated blood pressure, asthma) but nobody seems concerned about any of those things yet! I think an ELCS which I could prepare for would be best for my mental health. I will discuss with my midwife at the 24/25 week appointment - it doesn't sound like that will be too late, based on your experience?

Thank you again. Wishing you all the best xxx

AG96 · 22/07/2022 18:50

@JC84 I'm also feeling pretty large and like my bump is growing before my eyes. Worried about how I'll get off the sofa by the end of this pregnancy 😂. I'm 20+4 today
