@Beanniebaby22 me!! I've given up on gaviscon and gone into boots own indigestion liquid which is half the price and always buy the massive bottles! Going to ask gp for omeprazole though so I don't have to keep buying my own!

Beanniebaby22 · 02/07/2022 18:55

@BabyBird20 i tried the Tesco own brand but they only had aniseed flavour which I find 🤢 I prefer peppermint flavour. Yes omeprazole May be a good idea. I only get the heartburn at night when I’m trying to sleep.

roobearbaby · 02/07/2022 20:40

Was just having a read of my 20 week scan notes and it says my placenta is posterior...on my 12 week scan notes it says anterior.

I know it doesn't actually matter just thought it was curious and wanted to share!

Bramblecrumble21 · 03/07/2022 09:56

How weird with the placenta, maybe it's actually more left, right or top, and has moved from a more anterior to posterior position as you grew. Either that or one of the somographers wrote the wrong thing down.

roobearbaby · 03/07/2022 10:07

That's what I wondered @bramblecrumble . I was feeling quite strong movements at around 16 weeks so thought it was odd that it was anterior!

The good news is it is high up in my uterous so I don't need to worry 🥰

Cocobeau · 04/07/2022 15:53

Has anyone looked in to anti-natal courses, or done any previously and is it worth it?
It seems these are no longer offered as standard and you have to pay for them? The nearest NCT course to me in October is about 30 mins away and £240.

Side note - I CAN NOT STOP EATING! 😭

roobearbaby · 04/07/2022 18:06

@cocobeau. We have booked NCT to start in September. Every single one of my mum friends has really valued the course and friends they made so figured it was worth the money!

I also can't stop eating. I ate an entire packet of biscuits in one sitting yesterday.

FishyBaby · 04/07/2022 20:39

@Cocobeau We've booked the NCT classes, I know they can be hit and miss, but it's our first so any help is better than none, and hopefully we'll find some friends out of it as well.

20 week scan was today, baby all happy and healthy, lined up for a perfect scan, the sonographer wanted to rush to measure the head as it was in a perfect position. Got one measurement done before baby flipped over and spoilt things. We managed to get through a bit further and were trying to measure the heart when an arm wandered into view and just wouldn't move.

Oh and it's a girl!

NotAdultingToday · 04/07/2022 20:55

Congratulations Fishy! These babies are funny being in the wrong position!

Just reminded me to look at NCT classes, didn’t realise they book up so far in advance - booked ours for starting September too. This is my first too, so want all the advice I can get, plus a good way to meet local new mums.

Literally cannot wait til Thursday for the scan, so excited to see them again!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 05/07/2022 07:41

Oh congrats @FishyBaby! A baby girl! 💕

We did classes with our first (17 years ago!) provided by the hospital. There was about 3 sessions I think and they were pretty helpful, talked us through what would happen, options etc. There was some post birth/newborn info. We watched a couple of birthing videos. The other parents were nice enough but we didn't end up being friends.

I'm also hungry but still have a nasty after-taste/nausea thing happening which really takes the joy out of food and is pretty disheartening to be honest. Especially with sweet things, chocolate makes me 🤢😭

Beanniebaby22 · 05/07/2022 08:18

@FishyBaby congrats on your girl! 💗

Just curious has anyone started buying things yet? I had held off until my anomaly scan but now can’t help myself 😄.

I’m finding clothes a bit tricky, some people say definitely get newborn sizes as 0-3 months will be too big, others saying their babies went straight into 0-3 months and newborn size was too small 🤔 Suppose you don’t really know until baby is here what size will fit but I just like to be prepared lol. Also unsure as to how much I need of each item; vests, sleepsuits, bibs etc.

Ccatalina · 05/07/2022 08:45

Hi all!
Been away for a few days and trying to catcg up..

Bit of an anxious post..

I went to my 20 week scan yesterday.. all was well so am relieved to say the least! Unfortunately sonographer couldn't get a good look at babys spine or genitals so have been rebooked in just over a week.

Baby is currently in breech position, and flat out refused to move from there despite me rolling around and sonographer gently prodding..
ive read this is common at 20+ weeks and nothing to worry about .. HOWEVER my last scan at 16 weeks the sonographer had the same issue of the baby not wanting to move from exact same position..
they are thumb sucking , kicking and punching but all in one place..( head on the left, feet on the right like a little banana)

I was wondering if any of your little ones had a favourite spot or similar situation? If i should be worried etc

Xx

NotAdultingToday · 05/07/2022 09:25

@Beanniebaby22 i have been buying clothes as i see them on sale. I have got a few clothes left over after my son so just bulking up a bit. I have a few outfits in each size as you just dont know what size they will be. Ds was def in newborn for at least a week 😂 and he was 2 weeks late at 8lbs9!
We did also buy a silver cross second hand pram on ebay im picking it up on sunday hopefully its ok it looked good in the pictures 🤞🏻

@Ccatalina both ds and ds2 im carrying are stubborn and refuse to move! At my 20 week scan i had to wiggle then go for a walk as he just wouldnt move. They said he seemed very chilled out (hopefully that carries through when hea born!) Did the hospital say it was anything to worry about?

Ccatalina · 05/07/2022 09:56

@NotAdultingToday

Ah okay, I think ive just been working myself up into an anxious mess! Sometimes the internet does more harm than good! It hadn’t even crossed my mind that the baby would be so chilled!

sonographer didnt seem worried at all. I did forget to mention that the baby favoured my left side and has done since my last scan..I’ll definitely mention at my next scan!

xx

Beanniebaby22 · 05/07/2022 10:47

@Ccatalina my boy was tucked up into my right hip and he wouldn’t budge either, sonographer had me turning from side to side to try and shift him a bit. So I’ve to go back next week for a re-scan aswell, they couldn’t see the heart valves properly or something. I wouldn’t worry 😊

@NotAdultingToday ok I think I definitely need to get a few bits in newborn then lol. At least he will get into the 0-3 eventually and won’t be a waste.

Cocobeau · 05/07/2022 11:11

Thanks @FishyBaby @roobearbaby @ALittleBitofVitriol @smiles39 Seems like it's probably one I shouldn't miss with it being my first, especially as I am hoping to breastfeed and know nothing about that aspect. It's just a bit of a bummer that it's an hours round trip that you have to pay for. I'm unlikely to meet many other mums I can connect with from where I live but sure they will be other things for that.

@Beanniebaby22 I was like you. Since my 20 week scan I've started buying some small bits, just babygrows/jumpsuits and I also wondered the same about clothing. Most of what I've bought is 0-3 months with I think 2 bits for new born. I'm mainly just focussing on things that make me go AAWWW. I don't want to buy much that he won't end up wearing as I'm sure we will be given stuff from other people too. I'm hoping once we're nearing his due date, they will be able to have an idea of how big he is likely to be and I'll just see what I've got from there. The benefit of having a baby now is you can sit in bed and get Amazon to delivery baby clothes the next day for you 😃

Bramblecrumble21 · 05/07/2022 21:09

@Cocobeau
@NotAdultingToday we got a.silvercross pram from marketplace. It's really nice, I may get some replacement wheels. I've kept most things from my first but when she was tiny, I thought pregnancy and birth is horrible, never again and got rid of baby clothes. So I'm ok 3months plus,.need some younger. Also, this baby is due a different season so I'll need a newborn/0-3m pramsuit I didn't before. I am going to get a replacement mattress

sarahj878 · 05/07/2022 21:38

Hi everyone I’ve been a bit quiet and catching up with everyone’s posts. Congrats to everyone whose had lovely scans the past few days! I’ve been buying clothes, baby sleeping bags which I found brilliant last time, and some other bits like nappy bins, breast pump and bottles. Still need to get some of the bigger bits. This baby will be born in opposite season to my first so none of the clothes I’ve already got will really suit, same with sleeping bags as they will be wrong tog.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 05/07/2022 21:42

I haven't bought anything yet but I was given a cot, change table, blankets & nursing chair. A family member has got a car seat for me and we will get heaps of hand me downs for clothes! I'll do an inventory closer to the birth and pick up what ever else I'll need then.

Definitely get a few newborn (000) size things, my biggest baby was 9lb 8oz and still wore newborn for a couple of weeks.

@Cocobeau an hour's round trip is a bit painful but I hope you enjoy the class!

@Ccatalina I wouldn't worry about position just yet, they still have heaps of room to move. If you want to look at optimum positioning info, spinningbabies.com has exercises and techniques to help encourage that.

Beanniebaby22 · 06/07/2022 13:14

@ALittleBitofVitriol My family have been great giving us all the big stuff and going with mum to look at prams and car seats tomorrow 😄

Just can’t help myself picking up clothes lol. But it’s because I know if I was buying baby clothes for other people as gifts I would give bigger sizes so want to make sure I’m not caught short and have enough of the teeny stuff on hand for the first few weeks.

sarahj878 · 06/07/2022 19:37

I think I’ve gone a bit mad on clothes so far lol. I can’t help picking up sales bargains every time I go to Sainsburys. Got lots in the mothercare 70% off sale too. Bought the same breast pump I had last time too as it broke unfortunately. That’s exciting @Beanniebaby22 what prams have you had your eye on so far?

roobearbaby · 06/07/2022 19:38

How is everyone getting on with bump size and movements?

My bump has really popped the last 2 weeks and movements are definitely getting stronger! My hubby can feel them most days now! ❤️

Beanniebaby22 · 06/07/2022 19:51

@roobearbaby I still don’t have an obvious bump (I’m plus size) but my belly definitely feels harder. Feeling movements more and more now, it’s like bubbles popping and he’s more active after I eat and in the evenings ☺️

@sarahj878 don’t have a specific pram in mind but do want one that comes with the car seat. The mothercare where I live closed down 😣 we don’t have any baby shops now, so just been picking up bits in Tesco. Going to Smyths to look at their travel systems. I intend to try breast feeding so will need to look at breast pumps too but I haven’t a clue 😅

Bramblecrumble21 · 06/07/2022 20:25

Hi roobearbaby, I've got more of a bump all the time now. Enough that customers at work commented two days in a row. And movements frequent, strong enough to notice when I'm busy. if I'm lying or sitting down I will often feel them within half an hour or 10 minutes if I've just eaten or drunk (then panic a bit of I don't). since yesterday evening though I feel softer and not like a bump so I think she's rolled. In fact I may have felt her roll. My belly button hole was going upwards but it's back to straight in.
