I'm still Covid positive and just got to hospital due to reduced movements. I'm actually quite scared.

TFMinx · 06/10/2022 14:58

And I've just been told I've got group B strep! Ffs, I just want her here now and know she's healthy and safe!

greenerfingers · 06/10/2022 15:21

Sorry to hear that @TFMinx. Hopefully baby is just sleeping or just further back so your movements feel reduced. My LO did this couple weeks back and it had just turned so everything was lighter.

I had group B Strep with my first and had no symptoms and it had gone by the time I delivered. I tested negative then and so did baby. Try not to stress. Sending some positive vibes Flowers

TFMinx · 06/10/2022 16:01

Thank you @greenerfingers that's really positive! I've been told I'll be given IV antibiotics during labour and to go in as soon as waters break or contractions are at five minute intervals, whichever comes first.

greenerfingers · 06/10/2022 16:05

It depends on you, I really didn't want antibiotics unnecessarily or to be on a drip (I wanted a home birth) so requested to be checked again a week before delivery and I was negative. We then monitored my temperature in labour and babys for a day after. All was well x. If you feel better with the iv then definitely go for that during labour

TFMinx · 06/10/2022 16:08

Thank you, it's good to know we have choices Smile

ALittleBitofVitriol · 06/10/2022 22:02

Fantastic that bubs has turned @greenerfingers! I just had a growth scan yesterday, 35weeks, and this little bugger is still very comfortably breech. He tricked the doctor and midwives who swore he had turned sometime after my 28wk scan. They also flagged quite low amniotic fluid levels so I was sent up to maternity for a trace and another ultrasound. Levels are low but not off the charts low, but it's going to be harder to turn bubs with hardly any fluid. They're not particularly worried, because he's still measuring 85th percentile for size, so the placenta must be managing okay to grow him this big already. For now it's more rest and weekly ultrasounds, and see what happens over the next few weeks. No wonder I'm so darn sore!

greenerfingers · 06/10/2022 23:03

Ouch @ALittleBitofVitriol sorry to hear that! The pain is the worst. Even now I have a foot in my ribs and it's unbearable. A head is just so much more. I found the inverted dog pose really helpful, drinking loads and laying over a yoga ball everyday for 15-20 mins helped. Also not sitting on anything soft. I hope your little one turns soon and you get some relief. Glad to see baby is still measuring well and it's not placental.

Bubblegum20 · 07/10/2022 14:43

@ALittleBitofVitriol oh no, hopefully your little one turns soon for you, fingers crossed it's by your next ultrasound!

I'm finally getting round to washing all my DD old neutral baby bits that we've got out the loft today! We have got this baby some new bits too that have already been washed, but didn't want to get too much as we don't know the gender yet and they grow out of it so quickly especially the newborn and up to 1 month bits!

Once I've got everything washed and dry I'll then get the hospital bag packed!

Hope you're all getting on alright

Bramblecrumble22 · 07/10/2022 16:00

It is nice when they turn, felt like I could breathe and eat properly, until I got this cold. Last day at work today. Woop. Got a scan on Tuesday. i haven't seen the calendar in ages, remind me of due dates. Mine is the 6th.

greenerfingers · 07/10/2022 16:08

My last day too, I'm leaving early as I want time with my toddler.

How many newborn suits are normal? I have 7 but feel like it's too less now.

I'm due on the 8th but think I lost my mucus plug today, not quite sure what to do but I've not had any other signs of labour so sitting tight for now.

We had another growth scan yesterday and as the baby is measuring above 97th on everything, and placenta was damaged by Covid we've been booked in for an induction at 37 weeks on October 18th - I'm still in denial but think I'd better face reality and pack a hospital bag!

TFMinx · 07/10/2022 18:41

Hi @Anna783426 hope you're well now. Please may I ask when you had Covid and how you found out your placenta was damaged? I've currently got Covid and I'm 35+2, the midwifery team seem quite blasé about it.

I'm 35+4 and first tested positive for Covid at 33+2. I went downhill quite quickly and ended up on the labour ward on oxygen as they were worried about pre-term labour - I couldn't breathe and it was genuinely terrifying. Luckily I was well looked after and came home after five days, it really knocked me out though and still not feeling great. They did a few scans specifically on the placenta and umbilical cord to see what the blood flow is like and they showed there was more resistance than they would like, so blood wasn't getting through as much as it was. They have said this can be a side effect of Covid, or it might be totally unrelated, but might be worth asking your midwife if you can be checked at all?

TFMinx · 07/10/2022 19:59

Thanks @Anna783426 that sounds awful and so scary, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I was strapped to a monitor yesterday as I was concerned about movement but they said everything was fine. Since then baby has been moving fine, so I'm hoping it was just a one off.
Take care of yourself

NotAdultingToday · 08/10/2022 09:59

Hi @NotAdultingToday I feel much better today thanks 😊 two weeks left at work then my leave begins! I'm just hoping I don't get told to cover every class, as I have been, between now and half term.

I had to cancel my physio appointment due to Covid. They tried to give me the next available date of 9th November, which I swiftly told them was my due date! Miraculously, they 'found' a slot this coming Thursday...

greenerfingers · 08/10/2022 11:38

Hello @NotAdultingToday, sounds so full on! I'm just completing my last bits, I was meant to finish end of October but my pelvic girdle pain has made me finish earlier. I had it with my son but most definitely it's far worse this time toward the end. I move one leg and the other stays where it is creaking away Grin

Feb85 · 08/10/2022 12:49

Hi all so this is all new to me and still find it confusing when the hospital say things that sound worrying and they just seem to pass it off then like nothing. I had my growth scan yesterday 36+1 and baby is breech the doctor has discussed a c section or to try turning her first on Thursday which we have decided to try but before that the sonographer said the baby’s head was measuring big in the 90% which I don’t really understand I have GD and asked was that anything to do with it and she just kinda shrugged it off she then said oh her stomach is measuring normal. I asked again about baby’s head with no real answer she did say blood flow and everything else was fine which sounds all positive. When I asked the doctor about measurements he just looked at the chart and said oh it’s ok the stomach is fine but that still doesn’t answer is baby’s head ok, is this an abnormal range, do I need to ask more questions scans etc, am I missing something?

Beanniebaby22 · 08/10/2022 13:53

@greenerfingers @NotAdultingToday on my final countdown to Mat leave aswell. Only 10 more shifts to do 🥳

greenerfingers · 08/10/2022 13:58

Is this your first child @Feb85? It's unfortunate when consultants become so desensitised to everything. My baby's head measured 95th percentile and was larger than his body. It's still normal. Some baby's will have larger heads or height compared to weight etc. Currently this baby is 95th percentile in height and 25th in weight. The scans are also notorious for being way off so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

As for breech that's more of a discussion, have you tried exercises from spinning babies? Got a birthing ball to sit on? Some babies turn right up to 38/39 weeks although I know just how stressful it is. I'd definitely look into spinning babies, moxibustion, and seeing a chiropractor if a c section is something you want to avoid. Also look into and research the technique to try and turn the baby. Some women are all for it and had no issues, others declined it as they didn't feel comfortable with the risks. I'd also ask your consultants success rate with the turning. Good luck xx

roobearbaby · 08/10/2022 14:37

@feb85 just to say, your babies head is measuring completely normal, just on the larger side of normal. It's honestly nothing to worry about.

My baby has a big head (95th percentile) big tummy (90th percentile) and little legs (45th percentile) and we have been joking that he is definitely my hubby's son (he is short and tubby with a big round head) 🤣🤣

Circe22 · 08/10/2022 16:34

Hey everyone!!

ftm and this pregnancy has been a bit more eventful than expected so I’ve been lurking more in the last few months - but reading avidly too 🤓.

got GD which is well controlled with diet , but a bit worried about what seems to be quite a wide ranging fixation on induction and now allowing you to get to 40 weeks. In my case I’m really not understanding why as she is on the smaller side rather than large, no other complications and GD is well controlled with diet and never get high readings. If anyone has any insight into why they still don’t like to ‘let’ you go past 38/40 weeks , I’d be so interested to hear!

also @Feb85 the reason they mentioned the stomach percentile to you as that a good indicator to say whether growth is being impacted by gd from what I understand, which it sounds like it isn’t.
