@Elle1709 I change the nappy after a feed, as they are feeding they will more than likely poo but they will definitely wee. If they are sleepy rather than change before I normally open the baby grow and pop their little feet out and that normally wakes them enough, if it’s chilly just put blanket over their feet, you will be changing them anyway so your half prepared then.
I don’t wake to feed, in hospital if there was complications or baby is struggling yes, but as soon as I get home I never wake them. I bf though last DD so she was basically glued to my chest anyway in the early days! Although she was great, she fed loads during the day and last feed was about 12 and she would go till about 6/7 then and the day would start over with cluster feeding.

Did this work @amyrose223 ?

greenerfingers · 01/10/2022 16:39

I'm having such severe tightenings today and pain behind my belly button. Really hope it's braxton hicks and nothing else. I didn't get them with my first and I'm only 32 weeks (well tomorrow I am). A little worried..

amyrose223 · 01/10/2022 17:00

It's worked!

Bubblegum20 · 01/10/2022 18:36

@greenerfingers maybe call your midwife if your slightly worried just to get it checked!

Has anyone started packing their hospital bag yet?

Beanniebaby22 · 01/10/2022 19:21

@Bubblegum20 yes mine is packed but keep changing my mind about things. Some bits have been taken out and other stuff put in. Have a wheelie case for me and another bag with baby’s stuff.

greenerfingers · 01/10/2022 19:51

I have a midwife appointment Tuesday so I'm thinking to hold on unless anything changes. It has calmed a bit but still very tight. Maybe I've just overdone things and the baby is also breech so pushing hard against my abdominal muscles

Kathno4 · 01/10/2022 21:18

35+3 here now, feeling very pregnant 😩🤣 consultant appt the other day and babies estimated around 5lb already, last one was 5lb 7oz born at 37 weeks 🙈 because of this they are going to let me go naturally…. Scary to think that in the next 7 weeks baby will definitely be here. I’m ready for baby but not sure I’m ready for the pregnancy to end, I’m more than a little sad this is my last even if I am being beaten internally on a daily basis 🥹 kind of hoping for the half term/Halloween with the kids, really want to know gender now. Last scan at 39 weeks exactly 27/10… wonder if I will get there 🥰

OtiMama · 01/10/2022 21:19

Same with my husband regarding names. We just don't agree!

Not done my hospital bag yet, not even purchased all the bits I need for it. Last time I did it around 35 weeks so still 2 weeks to go until then for me. Even then it was only half packed with a note on the top. Will see the outcome of my scan on Wednesday and that will either make me sort it or relax again!

I did get the first bag of clothes out from my Mum's today (we have kept most of my 2 year olds clothes since he was born) and found the up to 1 month and 0-3 month stuff so will start washing that. Plus the sheets for the pram bassinet and the infant car seat liner.

@greenerfingers hope everything is OK. Must be quite uncomfortable with baby being breech.

greenerfingers · 01/10/2022 23:00

Thank you @OtiMama. It's extremely uncomfortable. My ribs are in such a bad state. It's like my lower half is totally empty.

Good luck with the washing and organising. I just finished my last bits today and feel quite excited and nervous now. Feeling a bit more real.

I haven't packed my bag yet as I haven't sorted a birthing gown yet. But I have packed everything else into a toiletries bag ready for both of us. Just the nightie needs sorting ASAP.

I keep feeling like this one will be early but thjnk that's just because I'm so uncomfortable.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 02/10/2022 01:02

Haven't packed a hospital bag yet but I am starting to think about it... 34+3 now. I'll probably pack 2 bags, a 'hopefully I can go home asap' bag and a 'boo, have to stay a little longer' bag 😄 I really don't like staying in hospital.
Have one more growth scan this week at 35 weeks. I'm sick at the moment so lots of resting and dh is being wonderful, cleaning and organising our older kids.

CurlyNo2 · 02/10/2022 16:12

I think I’m going to make a start on getting my hospital bags items ready. I took so much with my son and didn’t need half of it. But I do wish I had better nightwear. So that’s on my list.

For baby clothes, this time around we haven’t bought everything in the shops for baby. We just wanted to get essentials all in neutral/white and then any gifts and extras we will buy once baby is here when we know if it’s a girl or boy.

Considering I’ve done this once before, my mind is blank. Have I missed anything off my list? Have I got enough of the essentials to get us through the initial period? I’m worried we haven’t got enough of the up to 1 month size. What do you think?

greenerfingers · 02/10/2022 18:25

We kept it simple this time too with baby clothes, especially as you never know how big your baby will be. I bought a few newborn sets, and some up to 1 month. Then the rest are 0-3.

Not sure if you consider this in the same list @CurlyNo2 but muslins?

CurlyNo2 · 02/10/2022 19:02

Ooh do you think I should get a couple of newborns too?

Oh yes Muslins, I have a pack of 10
i think, but you can never have enough of those in my opinion.

greenerfingers · 02/10/2022 20:36

It depends how big your first was I think. Mine was 7lb and none of the 1 month stuff fit, he did lose weight and drop to 6lbs. I had to buy newborn sets for the first few weeks. This time I have them ready just in case and if I don't need them I've kept the tags on and hope to exchange:

CurlyNo2 · 02/10/2022 21:34

My first was 8.2lbs but he was very long (his dad is 6ft2). Ok, think I’ll stick to just up to 1 month and if needed someone can pop to the supermarket to get smaller sizes.

OtiMama · 02/10/2022 21:48

I didn't bother with newborn last time and up to 1 month was big on my son. That being said I didn't regret it because as you say you can always go shopping to the supermarket once born and its better than wasting it. Plus even then he didn't take long to fit up to 1 month size.

I've had my covid booster tonight. Then my friend a group of us saw on Friday text to say she's got covid! Really hoping as we were outside and didn't get mega close that I have dodged it. Already had it once this pregnancy and it wasn't pleasant. I also need to be going to hospital Wednesday for a growth scan.

Hope you all had a great weekend, I have started my first set of baby clothes washing, totally forgot how tiny they are, it's satisfying being able to wash and hang up so much at once!

greenerfingers · 02/10/2022 23:35

Hopefully you dodged it at @OtiMama and if you do end up getting it again you get it without any symptoms. My first time contracting covid I was in hospital almost septic and unable to breathe for months. Second time I was asymptomatic and didn't even realise I had it (but my husband tested positive so we all retested).

I bought my last bits for the baby and have everything ready now. I just need that birthing gown. Had a nice and relaxed weekend after so many weekends trying to get everything sorted.

Also trying to turn this breech baby so my ribs can have a break and I can stop panicking about a c-section.

Does anyone know about birthing balls? I have one but my knees are higher than my hips. I bought the right size so I'm not sure what's wrong. It's fully pumped too.

Otterses · 03/10/2022 12:41

Random one for the ladies under consultant care. Have you actually seen someone face to face or just having telephone appointments? I’ve hit a point where the telephone appointments are beyond a joke - I was offered an appointment at 12 today, had a voicemail saying between 9-12… still waiting and this is the third week running, and I can’t put off collecting DS and hanging about to see if they happen to call.

Trying to establish how normal this is before I complain 😒

Beanniebaby22 · 03/10/2022 12:49

@Otterses I’m under shared care. Was meant to be seen by an anaesthetist for assessment antenatally. Got a letter in the post a few weeks ago to say they would ring me at 10:40 on a certain day but that they could call any time between 9 and 1.

Rang maternity outpatients to explain that didn’t suit me and that I needed to reschedule as I would be at work (I work in the NHS myself and was due to be seeing patients that morning) and couldn’t guarantee I would be able to answer the phone.

They said to me they would cancel it but that the anaesthetic clinic only ran one morning a week so took that to mean I just wouldn’t be getting a consultation at all?

Then the day of the original telephone appointment which I had cancelled, I finished my clinic and low and behold there was a missed call on my phone from the hospital for the original appointment time 🙄

It’s a bit rubbish.

TFMinx · 03/10/2022 12:59

34+5 and I've just tested positive for Covid 😩 I don't feel too bad at the moment, just a bit achy and got a headache. Fingers crossed it stays that way

Bubbano2 · 03/10/2022 13:04

@Otterses I am consultant care led and having a C-section but I have only ever had phone consultations. They do phone in good time but still find it weird that everything is now over the phone. With my Daughter I had had around 3 face to face appointments by now and my date given.

Bubblegum20 · 03/10/2022 13:38

I think I'm going to start packing my hospital bag soon then, I can't remember what stage I did it last time! Need to make sure I've got everything

@Otterses I'm consultant care and I've been lucky I've had face to face appts, the only telephone ones I've had is with the haematologist I'm under during pregnancy!

GeorgieEm · 03/10/2022 14:00

@Otterses I'm under consultant care & have had growth scans and face to face Apts every 2 weeks since week 29. I'm 33 weeks today. I saw the consultant last Monday & had high BP so was booked in for an extra face to face today with another scheduled apt next Monday.

Feb85 · 03/10/2022 14:21

Hey @TFMinx i also tested positive on Friday @ 35 + 1 which I couldn’t believe as I had just asked on here about the Covid booster then booked my booster for the Saturday and ended up getting Covid for the first time the day before it’s so frustrating. I hope you are ok and that your symptoms stay mild and you don’t get it to bad, I have had quite a rubbish few days and have found it quite worrying & scary especially also seeing on here how many expecting mums have come down with it, rest as much as you can x
