I just got back from holiday and felt soo strange to return to the UK hotter than abroad 😅😅. The swelling I got this time was horrific. Hoping it calms down in the next few days as it was freaking me out a lot the last few days of holiday and on the way home.

My toddler has been acting up too but I put it down to heat exhaustion and just a general out of routine thing than the new baby. (All our library/toddler swim sessions etc pause or change about in the summer holidays so he's not getting his normal day to day). I do think he will regress though once the baby is here albeit being very excited now; he already has a fit if I don't cuddle him immediately when he needs one (again something new).

TFMinx · 13/08/2022 07:32

My DS, 4 has become very affectionate and kissy, which is lovely, but sometimes I'd like to have a wee without having my nose/arm/leg/tummy kissed. He is really sweet when he says, "That was for my sister not you," though. I'm convinced it's because he's aware there will be changes from November.

We're getting a portable aircon unit delivered today and I cannot wait to just stand in front of it! I think I'll cry when I feel that first cold blast of air.

StrongUsernameHere · 13/08/2022 10:35

Yes please, thanks @NotAdultingToday !

I am thinking of starting my leave from my due date and then using the rest of my holiday just before, which means I’d be working til the end of October (DD Nov 19). I’m a journalist so mostly desk based but I’m also struggling with the SPD already, so is that unrealistic? I have no idea what I’m doing…

sarahj878 · 13/08/2022 11:40

@StrongUsernameHere im struggling with SPD too and am desk based but sitting down for long periods as well as doing anything is making it flare up, it’s such a horrible pain isn’t it. I’m starting leave end of October too x

TFMinx · 13/08/2022 20:01

I'm also starting leave on 31st October. I'm a primary teacher in reception, so quite an active role, however I haven't been given a class this upcoming academic year, so hopefully I'll make it to October half term relatively in tact.

Beanniebaby22 · 13/08/2022 21:13

I’m also going off at end of October but using holidays and starting Mat leave in the middle of November. Pushing it as close to my due date as I can 😅 as anticipating I might go over my dates with it being my first baby, but who knows! Lol.

TFMinx · 14/08/2022 03:14

My first DC was 11 days early, so I wouldn't count on being late! Hopefully my 2nd will be on time or late: I've got my heart set on a November baby now, plus I don't want to have to start mat leave during the half term.

My first started coming bang on her due date, and she was the earliest of the lot (so far)!

Kathno4 · 14/08/2022 10:23

Morning all, I was just catching up and realised I didn’t even know how far I am now. Summer holidays are super busy with 3 at home plus step children and a 5 month old puppy 😅 had a growth scan and consultant after midwife appt last week. I was measuring 4 weeks behind but scan put me a few days ahead, I’ve never had that before 🥰
im 28+4 now and have bloods on Wednesday (yay) I was convinced baby was head down but have been told so far baby is breech, initially the thought of a section scared me but now I don’t mind. I’ve spoken to the consultants and expressed my wishes to be stelised if they’re going to cut me open 🤣
im 28 tomorrow and this pregnancy is not easy 😅 though to be fair other than being constantly nauseous it’s been pretty straight forward…. Depending on next weeks bloods I will find out in a few weeks when baby may be born 😍

Cocobeau · 15/08/2022 15:50

Just curious how many of you are sharing name ideas with friends and family?

I've had loads of people ask me but haven't told a soul, partly because we and DH haven't agreed on one, partly because I'll probably end up changing my mind and partly because I don't really care to hear anyone elses opinion. It doesn't bother me that people ask, it's a natural question, but I do get some looks/comments when I say we haven't chosen yet and change the subject.

Beanniebaby22 · 15/08/2022 17:01

@Cocobeau No I’m definitely not telling anyone the name! Like you I don’t want people’s opinions. Partner and I are very set on the first name but still undecided on a middle name.

TFMinx · 15/08/2022 17:49

We're not telling anyone. My DH made that mistake with our 1st with the possible girl's name and people made it known that they were not fans. Ended up having a boy anyway. This time round it's a girl and we're not telling a soul, mainly because we're using what we liked before and they'll just have to lump it.

greenerfingers · 15/08/2022 19:27

We're still undecided on a name and thanks to this thread it made me check my notes to see when my next appt is. It's tomorrow!! I totally forgot there's such thing as a 25 week appt Blush.

Anyone else feel like they've been hit by a bus? I sleep and still need more sleep. So heavy now too. Not sure how I'll do another 3 months like this. Or heavier!

CurlyNo2 · 15/08/2022 19:32

We can’t find a name we both agree on. With my son’s name, we just knew it was the one. However with this baby, we can’t find anything just as nice. I have been though so many threads for ideas and nothing. Will we ever name this baby???

roobearbaby · 15/08/2022 19:44

@ggreenerfingers I also feel like I have been by a bus constantly!! My bump is so heavy and it makes the rest of me feel heavy. Urg

smiles39 · 15/08/2022 19:56

I’m being far too ‘head in the sand’ about baby names. We talk about it periodically but nothing has stood out yet. I like talking about it with other people just to get some more ideas, I need all the help I can get.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 15/08/2022 23:56

@Cocobeau we have shared the name with family, but we are famously stubborn so their opinions don't affect us much 😄 they hated one of my sons' names but got over it - we still used it (he's 12 now, still like it)
Actually they were all surprisingly positive about our choice this time, weird lol

I'm sick with a cold, blergh. Hoping it clears before midwife appointment on Thursday or I'll have to reschedule.

Cocobeau · 16/08/2022 08:41

Glad it's not just me then. I find it so weird that people are so happy to tell you they don't like the name you have chosen to give your child. I'd never tell someone that.
@CurlyNo2 Same! I look at all boy name threads hoping I'll see something new that I love, but nope. I've got a couple I think are ok but just fine, I don't adore them. DH has finally suggested one he likes - it happens to be the name of my last serious bf. Although I do actually like it too, it feels a bit weird.

Physically I'm doing ok. I wonder if it's because it's my first and I'm also carrying quite high, I'm not having too much bother. Although bump is starting to get in the way of things and personal landscaping is becoming a challenge 😂

NotAdultingToday · 16/08/2022 09:37

@Cocobeau im not really just being vague. Mostly because husband keeps changing his mind and also im struggling to find a name i like.

@greenerfingers yup i do! I feel rough!

Haha personal landscaping i love it 😂😂 and cutting toe nails!

I’ve already started asking my husband to trim my toenails 🤣 and my lady garden is wild at the minute! 🙈

@greenerfingers I'm feeling very tired & heavy! I'm sure the heat over the past week hasn't helped one bit! Feeling more human today, although on iron tablets, not Maybe it's those kicking in! Insomnia is REAL!

We have settled on a first & middle name & have told close family only. 🥰
I have a midwife apt tomorrow, only the 2nd one but under the consultant too.

Hope everyone's doing ok 💗

Is anyone having a baby shower .. and if so, when are you thinking of having it? I'm planning one for 33 weeks as don't want to be so knackered I can't enjoy it! x
