@Ccatalina I had covid two weeks ago (22 weeks). Came down with symptoms on Saturday thought I was largely recovered by a week later but then realised I hadn't felt baby move for most of a day when she is fairly active and I was still testing positive. I called up (out of hours) and the unit asked me to come in. They used the doppler and found a heartbeat and tried waiting for about five minutes to catch movement. They were happy but did offer to take me down for a scan if I was still concerned. I declined and they said to call again in the morning if baby still hadn't moved. Then the baby decided to have a dance party overnight.

Hopefully yours will kick into gear again soon!

Ccatalina · 30/07/2022 10:37

@FishyBaby

Glad to hear the movements do pick up! Definitely put my mind more at ease. X

Morning all, I hope everyone is feeling well. I had my GTT test on Friday and the diabetic nurse called me yesterday to say it’s positive and I have an appointment with her this evening. I know she will talk me through the steps - diet etc. but as this is my first pregnancy and not really sure what this will mean regarding delivery, scans I was wondering has anyone else has GD in previous pregnancy and is there any certain questions or care I should be looking out for or asking for? This has panicked me a bit more as I already have an anterior placenta and movement still isn’t very strong or patterned.

GeorgieEm · 02/08/2022 10:17

Hi all. New to MumsNet.
I’m due 21/11 & 24+1 today. How are people feeling? I’m so tired, not sleeping & generally quite emotional!
Struggling with balancing pregnancy, how I feel, homelife, full time worklife & everything in between.
This is my first baby after a previous loss. So grateful to be pregnant, but this is hard ! Can anyone relate ?! X

GeorgieEm · 02/08/2022 10:20

@LittleJumpingBean this is exactly what I needed to hear this morning! So .. thank you 😊

ALittleBitofVitriol · 02/08/2022 11:25

@Feb85 , sorry to hear your gtt was positive. I hope your appointment with the diabetic nurse is helpful and reassuring 💜 I need to do my gtt next week.

Welcome @GeorgieEm! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Yes, absolutely can relate, exhausted ✔ emotional ✔ you're not alone.

I sorted out some baby clothes! 🥰 Can't wait to bring my little boy home.

GeorgieEm · 02/08/2022 11:28

@ALittleBitofVitriol thank you 🫶🏻 When’s your due date?

good luck with your gtt.. mine is in 3 weeks time. Having some anxiety today as haven’t felt little one move much but have an anterior placenta, so that doesn’t help! X

NotAdultingToday · 02/08/2022 16:32

Hello everyone sorry i have been a bit quiet last week was a busy one, even though ds was at grandparents all week! I did managed to start a finish a book so quiet pleased with myself 😂

How it everyone feeling? Im a hot and sweaty mess that feels like a whale (and looks like one too judging by recent pictures!) and im just tired all the time. I cant get through a day without a nap!
Im off this week so hoping i will be able to catch up on sleep and feel more human.
I have a hen do this weekend and im so worried about being tired! My coffee intake may have increased from 1 to 2 cups a day!

Welcome @GeorgieEm would you like me to add you to the due date list?

Also i can totally relate and this is my second time round and im only working part time and i still feel like that. Its just so much going on with our bodies and its hard work but its all normal we just have to look after ourselves.

@NotAdultingToday hi! Yes please that would be great, thanks!

Ahh thanks, it's made me feel better today joining this group & having a read through & interacting with other Mummas to be to know I'm not so alone 🫶🏻

I'm feeling so tired but have appeared to progressed into pregnancy insomnia?! X

roobearbaby · 02/08/2022 16:50

I absolutely relate! Trying to juggle work, taking care of myself AND doing normal day to day housework and life is so hard at the moment

I think it makes a huge difference having others in the same position to chat to you feel much less alone

God id rather sleep all the time than have insomnia!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 02/08/2022 22:24

@GeorgieEm I'm due Nov 10th, I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow. This is our 5th baby (4th boy), I feel old and tired! This week my 3rd turns 12 and my oldest (17 yo daughter) has a big exam so it's busy busy here. I'm looking forward to the gtt actually - I'll be able to hang around in town by myself, with a book (well done @NotAdultingToday !), for a couple of hours 😄

Insomnia must be so hard! I'm ready to fall asleep again by 10am.

Beanniebaby22 · 03/08/2022 19:47

Bit of a weird one, has anyone noticed their feet are getting bigger?! As in longer?! My feet are hanging off the back of flip flops that used to fit me, so weird! I’ve been Googling and apparently it’s the ligaments in your feet relaxing which makes them look longer. Yet another weird pregnancy symptom lol.

Ccatalina · 04/08/2022 22:59

@Beanniebaby22

I honestly feel like ive gone up a half size in shoes! My toes feel crushed!

Hope everyone is doing as well as can be ☺️

A few general questions:

Anyone else feeling like they're ready to pop?! My stomach feels constantly stretched and uncomfortable and still 15 weeks to go!

Does anyone have Cravings? I dream about crisps! Wotsits in particular!

To swaddle or not to swaddle ? Ive read so many different things both pro swaddling and against and im still on the fence. What do we think?

And finally..

Do you all have an idea of a birthing plan?
It sounds silly but I literally hadn't given it a second thought until yesterday 🫣
Im not sure what im supposed to have in mind, if anything!

X

Beanniebaby22 · 04/08/2022 23:06

Yes @Ccatalina my belly feels very tight and firm at the top.

Birth plan I would love to try a water birth and have freedom to move around and change positions. Hope I’m able to give it a go!

Dontbeaneejit · 04/08/2022 23:17

Definitely feeling fit to burst. 27 weeks so 13 to go! No idea how I'm going to get even bigger. I feel huge! My feet have been ok but I'm living in flip flops while I can.

I'd love a repeat of my second labour as my birth plan. Not sure I can be that specific ha but my second was over start to finish in 5 hours. Perfectly manageable. My concern this time is that I've heard anterior placentas have links to posterior labours which are longer and more painful. Bit worried about that but we'll see I guess. Feel like I haven't seen a midwife in forever. Finally have an appointment next week for 28 weeks. I think they leave you alone too long during subsequent pregnancies. Not sure I like it.. I find visiting the midwife reassuring.

Dontbeaneejit · 04/08/2022 23:19

Oh and I'm all for swaddling but I've always been rubbish at it. Both my babies always seemed to find a way to wriggle free. Both were terrible sleepers!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 05/08/2022 05:03

Yes I feel enormous, tight and sore at the belly. Exhausting actually. I had a mini emotional meltdown yesterday because apparently life is too hard when I'm tired and sore...

I'm pro swaddling, they sleep so much better imo, they can't control their limbs at the beginning and whack themselves in the head & wake up 😄 I like the little sleep bags which wrap their arms too.

Birth plan - play it by ear but low intervention as much as possible. My previous 4 births were all so different, I have my own preferences based on my history.

Bramblecrumble21 · 05/08/2022 06:12

I've actually given my birth plan a lot of thought this (2nd) time round. A big I would do different is eat, unless I have a booked section. I was told nill by mouth first time round in case I needed a section (fortunately I didn't) and I think this made it much harder to deal with contractions and stay active and things were slow. I have been planning and stashing some labour snacks allready.

I'm considering a home birth, but very much on the fence. My maternity hospital is a 40 minute drive and childcare would need to be arranged. If I plan or end up with a hospital birth, I'd want early discharge and to avoid the postnatal ward. Maybe my trust has a checklist before discharge. (Peeing, breastfeeding etc). This may be best from the birth center (also at the hospital).

Different types of pain relief was something I'd done a lot of research on last time and, while my birth plan was incomplete and on my pc, having knowledge was very helpful to me.

I could be overthinking it as there's so many variables beyond my control in a birth.

GeorgieEm · 05/08/2022 07:54

Morning all 😊 I've had a lot of pressure at the top of my tummy too. Although haven't noticed an increase in feet size .. yet!

I absolutely agree that you're left too long in between appointments! I see my midwife in 2 weeks & haven't seen her since week 16.

I think I have low iron / anaemia- as I've been sooo tired, zero energy & breathless! See what the 28 wk bloods say! I think it's crazy you don't have bloods from 12 Wks to 28 Wks!

Birth plan - I actually printed off a birth plan template yesterday. I'm following the Naked Doula & she is right up my street! I'll be looking into it more over the next few weeks but really like the idea of dimmed lighting, water birth. Get that Oxytocin flowing!

However, I'm under no illusion & know i need to be flexible with my options as im high risk & have to have growth scans from 28 Wks. I'd just like to be informed & know as much as I can, so I know my birth rights going into labour, to make it as much of a positive experience as possible! x

ALittleBitofVitriol · 05/08/2022 11:47

@Bramblecrumble21 I had a homebirth for my last baby. And with the one before him, I had him at 9am and was home by lunch. I also signed myself out early against medical advice with #2... I just prefer to relax at home! 😄

Ccatalina · 05/08/2022 12:03

A water birth is definitely something I like the idea of too ☺️! @Beanniebaby22

@Dontbeaneejit I agree with feeling like you're left alone too long! I sometimes feel as if I "dont want to bother" my midwife with all my questions!

Ahh sorry to hear you were feeling overwhelmed yesterday! Hope you're feeling better today. The sleep bags with arms look wild to me, but so many parents swear by them I reckon ill give them a go! @ALittleBitofVitriol

@Bramblecrumble21 What are your goto labour snacks? Definitely understandable to feel as if we're overthinking, especially if you had a difficult first experience.

@GeorgieEm fingers crossed that you dont have low iron! it does seem like such a long time to be left to our own devices doesnt it!

X

rickandmorts · 05/08/2022 14:08

@Bramblecrumble21 I'm really keen for a home birth! Mentioned it to my midwife at my 24 week appt and she was very encouraging. I've been doing loads of research and want a water birth too. DP on board too.

greenerfingers · 05/08/2022 19:19

Hey all, just popping on.

I agree the gap between midwife appointments in following pregnancies is sooo long. I've only met my midwife twice (and both times they were different midwives). Don't have another appointment till a few weeks. I feel really disconnected to my midwife this time as it's not one person and isn't part of my GP surgery anymore either.

I had a home birth for my first (against doctors orders- they felt he was too big, and at some point I'd had strep B but was negative at birth - I think they were just being really awkward) anyway I think it was a great first birth although difficult without an epidural and a back to back baby. I'd love to have one again but currently don't have the space.

I'm huge this pregnancy, ginormous, currently on holiday with massive swollen feet and I'm waddling like a pro. My husband said I look 9 months. Not sure how the next 16 weeks will fare 😕😕.

I've started getting this weird upper rib pain I used to get with my first, it's excruciating and wish it would go away. If anyone knows what it is id love to know!
