@beansprout55 Thanks, it's more that we can't get him to sleep rather than trying to keep him up

@RoseValleyRambles What's a dealer??

Vimto1991 · 13/07/2022 12:06

@Prema112 do you breast feed? Breast feed babies take shorter naps than formula as they digest food quicker? So they may just well only need a 20 minute nap.
my dd is all over the place, she may sleep for an hour then is up for three hours as she will only settle to sleep on my breast- we are trying everything to get her to settle somewhere else in case I can’t be there for her but if we transfer her from breast to crib at the wrong time she is wiiiiiide awake!

RoseValleyRambles · 13/07/2022 12:13

@prema112 sorry, typo. Not suggesting you get drugged up! Should have said swaddle. Tommee tippee do 0.2 tog ones for hot weather.

Prema112 · 13/07/2022 14:26

Thanks @Vimto1991 Yes I'm breastfeeding but he won't feed to sleep except at night, if I offer him breast and he's not hungry he gets quite angry! @RoseValleyRambles Haha, yes good shout, got a swaddle coming hopefully tmw!

annie1994 · 13/07/2022 18:17

Anyone who started breastfeeding but then switched to formula…. When did your boobs stop leaking?

I stopped breastfeeding 2 weeks ago and my boobs still leak a bit 🙄sorry tmi 😂

beansprout55 · 13/07/2022 21:30

I've just ordered that swaddle @RoseValleyRambles! Hope it comes down in time for the weekend x

Earlier on someone in our group recommended the kegal 8 - can't remember who it was?! 🤔
I AM doing my pelvic floors, but not as often as I should per day - so so hard to remember. So, I want a little extra help. Not keen on wasting £159 if it's crap though, so would prefer a personal recommendation.....

Was it you @EarlGreywithLemon? x

EarlGreywithLemon · 13/07/2022 21:59

@EarlGreywithLemon it was my physio who recommended and I used it. My prolapse was corrected and it must have worked! From memory though I used it lying down, and while doing pelvic floor exercises , but there are instructions that come with it as well. I do remember that physio guidance was very useful for how to use it though

beansprout55 · 13/07/2022 22:09

Great!
There's only one woman's pelvic floor specialist here in Jersey and she works for our hospital, so she doesn't see anyone privately. Such a shame as I'd love to see one, I'd need major issues to get a referral for her though.

Did you get the kegal 8 toner or ultra?

EarlGreywithLemon · 13/07/2022 22:23

What a shame about the physio - but at least it’s a positive that your symptoms aren’t bad enough to need a referral.
I just checked and I had the Ultra. 😊

beansprout55 · 14/07/2022 21:15

@fpeg - following the book you recommended, we started a few days ago - it's tough going having a routine to stick to!! Baby is 3 weeks old today. My question was regarding the expressing and bottles - we briefly used bottles when I had a broken boob early on but have been EBF for a couple weeks... giving Henry a bottle or

beansprout55 · 14/07/2022 21:25

Sorry posted too soon.

How did you get your little one to cope with the night time bottle? Henry chugs it and screams and won't pause and breathe during the feed, then chokes and I cry. It's a nightmare. I guess he's confused it's not a nipple.
I need him to accept it though as I'm doing some shifts at work starting in a month as I ease myself back into full time from mid September.

He also ends up wanting the BF within an hour of that bottle - and takes in quite a bit! Doesn't just comfort nurse. I don't get it!

How long did it take you to get used to your routine?xx

fpeg · 14/07/2022 21:29

@beansprout55 looks like not all of your message has loaded (or maybe you're still writing it 😁). I'm taking a punt on the direction of the question, but... the morning expressions are about increasing milk supply to keep up with baby needs, so that you don't end up with a lag in growth spurts and a baby that needs feeding more often because you've not got enough per feed. The evening one is just to help provide the milk for the bottle of your partner is doing a feed.

The first couple of weeks is the hardest work but then you just get used to it. I go out and about all the time and just fit in her routine around it (so feed just before I leave or plan to get somewhere that I can feed - eg coffee shop if I'm out shopping).

fpeg · 14/07/2022 21:33

@beansprout55 ahhhhh.... have you been using paced feeding? I used to find the same thing but paced feeding made a big difference (a link if you want it: )

We noticed that at around three weeks she also needed a top up not too long after the last feed (I usually had enough expressed milk to give more but if not topped it up with formula) - found out later 3 weeks is a big growth spurt time.

I got her to settle into the routine quite quickly but I also went straight from 3 hourly feeding to the routines, so may have been easier?

beansprout55 · 14/07/2022 21:41

You're a gem!!!! Will watch and try tonight xx
Nice to have reassurance that I'll get used to it too! 🥰
@fpeg

fpeg · 14/07/2022 21:55

@beansprout55 no problem, across the two feeds she was having 7/8oz at that point which was humongous I thought! She's back down to about 5oz now which is much more reasonable 😂

Letsbekindplease · 16/07/2022 19:48

Hey, hope everyone is well

I’m not sure if I should be worried about my baby’s poos.
she doesn’t about 1-2 poos a day. Usually mustard/korma colour but yesterday afternoon she had a poo and it was practically water consistency and the colour of almost dirty dishwater. Same today. Only one poo yesterday and one today. She’s 4 nearly 5 weeks old. I will speak to the health visitor on Monday but has anyone else’s baby had the same ?

Clomid1 · 17/07/2022 00:50

@Letsbekindplease I was coming here to ask about poo too 😂. I am glad I am not the only person that worries about colour and consistency.

Mine poos twice a day. Like yours it was also mustard colour. Now its gotten slightly darker and a bit more liquid. It also has a sour smell. I am going to take it with me to the gp on monday. It’s the smell that’s worrying me?

I am afraid I can’t be of much use, but hoping the hv has some answers on monday.

Letsbekindplease · 17/07/2022 08:20

@Clomid1 sounds very similar to my daughters. There’s just no consistency to it at all.
my partner said she had a poo this morning and it was a darker brown and had a little consistency but not much. I’m sure it should still be yellow colour. Let me know what your gp says. I’ll say to HV tomorrow and report back. Maybe it’s normal because she isn’t in any distress x

Octoblockisadick · 17/07/2022 22:03

I think I've got mastitis 😞.
My breast has a red patch on it which is hot, and there's a hard lump there too. I've also been very tired and shaky today and I've got an awful headache. Trying to feed from that side as much as possible and massaging the lump.
I've tried calling 111 but it just says they're really busy. The 111 online said they will get a nurse to call me in the next 12 hours but that's the middle of the night! (It was at 8pm I logged it).
Going to try and call the GP tomorrow I think

Clomid1 · 18/07/2022 13:06

@Letsbekindplease I called the GP and the health visitor. Both said it was normal. The smell is due to it being in her for longer. The colour is fine as there is a lot of it so appears darker. They also said don’t be alarmed if she skips a day of pooping. They said as long as you get plenty of wet nappies, she feeds well and you get dirty nappies (apparently 1 a day is plenty) then thats fine. My daughter is 7 weeks tomorrow.

hope that helps. Did you HV offer any other insight?

@Octoblockisadick oh no! Did you have any luck with a nurse or GP? Would pumping on that side help? I hope you get sorted out soon

Letsbekindplease · 18/07/2022 14:34

@Clomid1 yes health bisitor said the same. I took a picture of it and apparently totally normal, just another phase of the baby poop. It had a bit more consistency today so I felt better about it. boy was it a messy poo lol it goes and gets everywhere!!!! Glad all is well. You just can’t stop worrying eh x

Octoblockisadick · 18/07/2022 19:08

@Clomid1 they tried to call me at 3.30am but I was asleep. Managed to get hold of my GP today and I've got 2 weeks of antibiotics. I'm feeding from that side as much as possible, if he doesn't want it though I will probably need to pump.

Glad the Dr said everything normal with babies poop.

Letsbekindplease · 18/07/2022 21:19

@Octoblockisadick glad you got the dr and you managed to get some antibiotics. Hope it’s not too sore and stressful.

this heat is something else isn’t it? I’ve lying here wondering if my baby is too warm. Watching her breathing and overthinking everything. (As usual) bring on the rain next week!

beansprout55 · 18/07/2022 23:15

@Letsbekindplease ditto!
My place was so hot today, Henry has been upset all day. Barely slept from 1pm-8pm - our routine totally went out the window. He would only sleep on me, which made him hotter!
Drove to parents and sleeping in my old room, but it's still hot and the temp in the room right now is 26 degrees. What can I do? The fans are on but I guess can't direct them towards baby.
Oh, and he won't sleep unless legs at least are swaddled.

Hope not too hot were you are x

RoseValleyRambles · 19/07/2022 19:36

How's everyone coping? It's so hot our perfect prep machine is refusing to run...
