I've been having problems with mumsnet so dropped off the end of the last thread a bit.
Congratulations to all the new babies, they're all gorgeous and I'm loving the names.
@EarlGreywithLemon I've only had dissolvable stitches so nothing to remove, seem to be healing well though. I get the odd twinge on the left, my midwife said that's the side where everything is tied off and knotted so likely why.
@PleaseSendNoodles no real pain here, I took paracetamol and ibuprofen 4 times a day for maybe 3 days, then 3 times a day for 4 days, now just taking in the morning but to be fair I probably don't need to any more. I'm day 9 now and no pain at all really, fully mobile and able to do pretty much everything I could beforehand. I could probably even drive tbh but I won't yet. Not been given any laxatives but not needed any yet touch wood. I'm having a mug of peppermint tea every day which seems to be helping with the trapped wind.
Still got a bruise on my back from the spinal and a scab on my hand from the cannula though.

Good luck for everyone still waiting, hopefully not much longer for you all!

Octoblockisadick · 12/06/2022 13:41

Oh and to the people who have delivered, do your stomachs look like a deflated balloon?!
I am not loving the droopy apron look haha

CurryandSnuggle · 12/06/2022 16:02

@Octoblockisadick yes that is normal and it does go down with time however if you’ve had a c-section it may not completely go but I promise it will look much better than the first month or two postpartum and the loose skin will tighten with time xx

@Junebaby22 we're due date twins! Completely relate to being overwhelmed by how hard pregnancy has been. Sounds like you have it really tough, hopefully your baby boy will be hear before you know it

Prema112 · 12/06/2022 17:23

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the thread but just wanted to share the last 24 hours. It's been really hard 😔 Jesse wouldn't settle and seemed frantically hungry all the time with nearly constant breastfeeding. Today he hasn't had a wet nappy so we took him to a&e and as suspected he has lost nearly 10% of his birth weight. He's also jaundice but not to a worrying extent. We are now on a strict breast and formula feeding schedule from dr. I've been crying basically all day, it's day 3 and this has coincided with the hormone crash. So glad we took him to a&e though and just wanted to encourage anyone to do the same if they have any concerns, we were seen straight away and they were lovely

fpeg · 12/06/2022 18:47

@Prema112 sending you lots of hugs, so tough when you're dealing with the hormones too! You are a fantastic mamma, my friend had to give formula too ups (and I've given the odd one when I've felt like I just couldn't fill her up!), her little girl is now 12 and none the worse for it 💕 You and Jesse have got this and will be absolutely fine 💕

CurryandSnuggle · 12/06/2022 19:43

@Prema112 aww lovely I am so sorry to read about Jesse, I’m glad you’re being taken seriously and have a plan forward ❤️ And just in case you’re beating yourself up (I hope you’re not but I know firsthand how this sort of thing can affect mums) be kind to yourself, you’re doing your best for him 🥰

RoseValleyRambles · 12/06/2022 19:44

@prema112 hope things even out for you soon - sounds like you're doing just what's needed and doing a great job of looking after him, even if that doesn't look quite like you predicted. Hang in in there.

Roxystar23 · 12/06/2022 19:48

Hi Everyone!
I hope you’re all well!! Congratulations to those of you who have delivered babies over the last few days! I hope those of you who are still waiting to meet your babies are not finding things too uncomfortable!
I went for my routine growth scan and was told that my baby had static growth and therefore would be induced the following day. This was a huge shock! I had the pessary in for 6 hours before it was removed because I was having 6 contractions within 10 minutes. I was kept on the monitor overnight as the contractions continued but thankfully started to reduce by the next shift changeover. A second pessary was then inserted but I only got to 1cm dilated after 24 hours of having a pessary inserted. I was then put on the drip and had my waters broken. It got to the point where I was having one continuous contraction - the drs were concerned about the baby becoming distressed, and the fact that I had only dilated to 3cm by this point and wasn’t progressing and further 40 hours after the original pessary had been inserted. It was then decided that I would need a caesarean. This came as a shock. I remember being in the pre-op room and wrestling with the anaesthesiologist for the gas and air mask as I wasn’t ready to give it up. The team had a sense of humour and played the circle of life as my baby was lifted up in the air over the screen Lion King Style. It was at this point I was told that my baby had had it’s cord wrapped around him 3 times and was extremely tight. They told me that having a caesarean had saved his life.
Baby Hudson was born at 8.27am weighing 7lb 9oz.
He’s now a week old already! (I’m so sorry, it took me so long to have the energy to catch up on the thread and I wanted to make sure I was caught up before I posted!) and I can’t quite believe where the time has gone!!
I’m still taking paracetamol and ibuprofen but I’m not sure when I am supposed to stop taking this? I suffer mostly from cramping pains or a burning sensation where my stitches are if I stand up or sit down too quickly.

Congratulations to everyone that has had their babies so far, so many of us!
I'm mainly sleep deprived but it's totally worth it!

@Prema112 I have an extremely fussy baby boy, he never seems to get full up on breast milk alone so we have to do top ups sometimes with formula, I relate it to feeding a lamb! You are doing fab, I was crying loads for the first 2 weeks, I was exhausted and overwhelmed and finding everything really hard but the last week and half have been much better now we have gotten used to each other! X

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:19

@Brightsmoke @imhereforthecake @MrsNT @Prema112

  • Congratulations! Welcome to the world Ralph, babyCake, ! BabyNT, Jesse David 💕🥳

@Lostintranslatio hope you're doing well and they're looking after you - I'm sure you're in the best place

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:25

@PleaseSendNoodles I didn't find the pain too bad - they gave me lots of painkillers in hospital(2 days) including a daily suppository and sent me home with dihydrocodeine, ibuprofen and paracetamol. The dihydrocodeine only lasted a week or so I think, the others I was taking as often as I was allowed until a few days ago. Now I just take one of each whenever I'm in pain - usually after doing the laundry 😞 Also have dissolvable stitches and am considering buying some gel strips for scarring too, but seem to be healing well..

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:27

@EarlGreywithLemon they have me a bottle of lactose but i didn't need it, I actually had diarrhea for nearly a week after. My bum was quite pleased after being constipated for so much of the pregnancy! 😊

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:31

@Octoblockisadick and @CurryandSnuggle - I can finally see my c-section scar - so my belly must be getting smaller, but I'm a way off normal. I really hope it doesn't sag, but I've never had a flat stomach, so I'm guessing it probably will 😢 ah well, worth it 😬

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:35

@Prema112 so glad you're sorted with a feeding schedule. My little one was formula fed in the hospital as my milk hadn't come in yet. Since we've been home he's on each boob for as long as he wants to be then topped up with formula. He's got a severe tongue tie, so I'm happy with this til he gets his op, then might try and decrease formula. But honestly, if he's hungry I don't really care what he eats 🥰

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:36

@Roxystar23 congratulations! 🥳💕 Glad everything worked out and I love the mat, what a clever idea!

destiEos · 12/06/2022 21:37

P.S. Sorry for the multi-messaging, took ages to catch up from previous thread 😬

laurenGame · 13/06/2022 09:45

Hi everyone, feeling down today. I went to see OB and mentioned I'm still getting gushes. He did have a look at cervix to see if it's water breaking or thrush. I ended up bleeding quite a lot during the examination and am still bleeding now 10 hours later. Period level bleed, changing pads. He did say I'll bleed all day but it's getting to the point where it's unnerving me.

Did anyone experience bleeding after and drying their cervix exam? I'm 37 weeks and just feeling sad that the bleeding won't stop; this is not how I expected to reach full term Sad

MrsTwentyNine · 13/06/2022 10:49

@Prema112 I had the EXACT issue. He was jaundiced and under phototherapy for 18 hours. Now I'm giving him formula round the clock 3hourly and breast when I can. It definitely wasn't the plan for me and I also cried a lot around the day 3 mark. I know it's still possible to get back to EBF down the line but now I'm too worried he would lose weight again that I've accepted I'm going to combination feed him throughout. He is far less yellow and gained the weight back on, why am I so upset he isn't EBF?! Fed is best! Just try to remember that :)

Sorry I haven't kept up with the thread everyone! These first 10 days have been very difficult and I wasn't prepared for how exhausted I would be! Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies!!

Prema112 · 13/06/2022 11:31

Thanks so much for your replies and support @destiEos, @RoseValleyRambles @CurryandSnuggle @fpeg @NorthDevonBeachLover @MrsTwentyNine
He's doing much better on the formula, midwife coming for a weigh in today 🤞🏼

@NorthDevonBeachLover Lol yes it is like feeding a lamb! Gosh I just can't stop crying I don't even know what I'm crying for!

@MrsTwentyNine So sorry you had this experience too. The dr said he either needs IV fluids or formula and I said formula straight away as as you say fed is best! I would also like to get back to EBF so I'm hoping when my milk comes in I can get there.

Prema112 · 13/06/2022 11:31

@Roxystar23 so good to hear from you and glad to hear you are Hudson are ok, that's so scary. I'm so glad you had such good care. He is super cute!!

Prema112 · 13/06/2022 11:33

And thanks for the congratulations @InvisibleDragon & @beansprout55!

@laurenGame So sorry to hear things are tough. I had bloody discharge after all my exams/sweeps but it wasn't like period flow- I would get that checked out lovely x

fpeg · 13/06/2022 11:34

@Roxystar23 congratulations! Sometimes things work out a way for a reason, he was obviously supposed to be a section baby 💕

RoseValleyRambles · 13/06/2022 11:35

"Fed is best" sounds like a good mantra for us all for the next few weeks! I've got some premade formula in in case I need to hit the emergency button too / top up. I reckon I can always express to build or maintain supply.

We'll see how it goes...

fpeg · 13/06/2022 11:39

For those of you expressing, how much do you typically get out per session? I'm 4 weeks in now and at my evening one I get about 2-2.5 oz per boob, mornings much more variable 1-3.5oz per boob. She's currently packing away 7oz on the evening feed! So I worry about keeping up with her if she starts to need more. It's OH's bonding time with her, I know I could put her on the boob but definitely want to keep OH with his feed. Probably stressing about nothing but thought I'd find out what others are finding
