Racheyg88 · 15/08/2022 19:18

hi everyone, so I went to what I thought would be my 12 week scan on 5th august to find out that was one empty sac and the other sac had the tiniest dot in it so at that point they didn’t know whether it was a bleed or intrauterine twin pregnancy so asked me to go back in 10 days time. Today was the day I went back to be told the empty sac was actually a bleed and the the other sac with the little dot had doubled in size from the last time I went but could not detect a heartbeat so I now have to go back in a weeks time for another scan to see if it has grown enough for the pregnancy to be viable. It seems my dates have been mixed up but my last period was on 13th May I did bleed a little after intercourse twice early July and had brownish discharge! I am just confused with the dates, have I conceived again since before, has anyone gone through anything similar and had a successful pregnancy? I don’t get why it’s grown but not detected a heartbeat but I might not be as far on as I think? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

Gamergirl84 · 15/08/2022 20:35

@Racheyg88 didn't want to read and run hun- I'm absolutely no expert but I also had an early scan where they couldn't detect a heartbeat and asked me to come back. They dated me at about 5 weeks which was just too early for anything to have developed.
Sounds like the same with you perhaps?
I guess that would put conception sometime around mid July?
When is your next scan?

@Furbabymum15 I'm so so sorry 😞
I don’t know what your circumstances are but after our third miscarriage we decided to go for ivf as after investigations it was deemed as nothing wrong just 'unlucky.'

So today I've been having quite a few aches and cramps- I'm about 13 + 3 and I can say it's worrying me no end. The wait between the 12 week scan and 16 week midwife appointment seems forever.

Racheyg88 · 15/08/2022 20:43

@Gamergirl84 thank you for replying. It could be that but I tested positive on 19th June and since then I’ve been testing positive after the bleeding so I’m not sure if I’ve miscarried and then conceived straight after just doesn’t make sense! My next scan 22nd august

Hagster · 16/08/2022 07:08

@Racheyg88 oh that must be so difficult, not knowing for sure, having some hope but also having to wait to see. I've not had similar so can't comment from personal experience. However in my head it might be possible? I'm sorry you're in such limbo. Here for you.

I had a positive 12 week scan yesterday, measuring slightly ahead which makes my due date Valentine's Day. Feels far away but also feeling very grateful to have that positive experience, especially for my husband who hadn't been at a positive 12 week scan before.

Racheyg88 · 16/08/2022 07:14

@Hagster i know it was the same when we had to wait 10 days to go to the scan yesterday and now another week of waiting! I’m hoping so but I have to also prepare myself, this would be my second miscarriage I’ve got two girls at the moment so I am ever so grateful to have them! Thank you so much.

aww that’s fantastic news my youngest was born on Valentine’s Day too, her due date was 19th Feb but came 5 days early! Aww that’s so lovely to hear, good luck with everything I’m sure it will fly by 😀

LittleLottle · 16/08/2022 18:24

@Furbabymum15 I'm so so sorry for your loss. Sending you love.

@Hagster congratulations, valentines is a lovely due date

@Racheyg88 sorry you're in limbo. I don't have any experience of that but I hope you get some answers soon.

Racheyg88 · 16/08/2022 18:28

Thank you @LittleLottle

Gamergirl84 · 16/08/2022 21:10

Hi all-

POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️

So today I got food poisoning from some off clotted cream (I'm presuming because I don't think it could have been anything else). It was both ends for about three hours and I'm totally wiped out. I'm so worried about the baby, I was retching with my WHOLE body. Projectile vomit. Fire water from my bum.
I had such bad cramps during this time.

It's all calmed down now but I feel very delicate and weak. I couldn't get hold of my midwife but Dr Google said stay hydrated and don't panic.

Has anyone ever had been sick like this while pregnant?

Sorry for the yucky details 😬

Hagster · 16/08/2022 21:51

@Gamergirl84 oh my word that sounds awful! So sorry you've had that, I hope you're feeling a bit better now. I've been lucky enough to avoid so far, but my best friend had extreme norovirus when pregnant with her son, and both were absolutely fine.

Gamergirl84 · 17/08/2022 07:58

@Hagster oh thanks, it's good to know other have had it bad and been OK (obviously sorry for your friend whonhad to go through it!)

Much better now but still a bit sore. Trying to take it easy for a few days.... lol with a toddler 🤣

STom2 · 17/08/2022 08:12

@gamergirl84 that sounds tough!! I did some research myself on food poisoning last week after I ate half of an undercooked vegan Kiev (baby brain in full swing). You probably read all the same stuff but the general consensus did seem to be once you stay hydrated then baby is okay. At this stage they are still small and tucked up safe. I read so many stories of women who seemed much worse as all was completely fine, and when they spoke to their midwives they were just told to hydrate. I think, realistically, if things like Covid don't have an impact at this stage of pregnancy (where a virus is literally attacking your body in stages), I think eating something dodgy won't be the worst.

LittleLottle · 17/08/2022 19:49

@Gamergirl84 eurgh that sounds awful, hope your toddler allows you some rest and the worst is over! I think our bodies are pretty good at protecting the little one even though it doesn't feel like it! Plenty of water and rest

WonderWoop · 17/08/2022 19:50

12w scan here, measured 12w 6, nice to gain almost a week. Still no explanation for bleeding so just got to keep ignoring it. Told work, how real does that feel? Hope everyone else is doing well. How do we now cope with no scans for 8 weeks?! Private scans?!

Lmcc88 · 17/08/2022 22:32

@WonderWoop how did telling work go? I’m telling mine tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous…

Lmcc88 · 17/08/2022 22:33

@WonderWoop sorry sent too fast also big congrats on the scan!

WonderWoop · 17/08/2022 23:02

@Lmcc88 good luck! My boss wasn't expecting it and was surprised. Generally fine though. What can they say I guess?!

His immediate concern was how will he cover my role. No real niceties about a baby ha! Then rang me later to say sorry he hasn't asked how I was feeling!

It's my second (and last!) so I'm a bit clearer how long I will take off etc

STom2 · 18/08/2022 08:06

Anyone else getting hit with pregnancy acne or is it just me? Seems to have only kicked in in the last couple of weeks. Thought as I'm now officially into the second trimester that I'd be on to glowing skin and great hair but actually seems to be the opposite! Definitely didn't have skin like this with DS.

MooBugz · 18/08/2022 08:22

@STom2 not really the acne but ditto on waiting on that glow up, still feeling very nauseous most days and mega tired. I don't remember feeling it so much after my 12 weeks but nearly 14 weeks still not had the radiance yet haha

OP posts:
STom2 · 18/08/2022 08:29

@moobogz Yeah I definitely still have the tiredness and intermittent nausea. Yesterday I'd a bowl of cereal at breakfast and less than 5 mins after finishing I threw it straight back up. The nausea tends to just hit from nowhere in waves, mostly in the morning. I cough and it turns into an accidental vom! I equally don't recall it lasting so long last time but I've heard it can be worse with subsequent pregnancies.

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 09:45

@Gamergirl84 so sorry to hear you were so ill! Glad you're feeling a bit better and hope everything all ok. I have heard of others getting food poisoning in pregnancy and being fine so I'm sure baby is a-ok! <3

Congrats on the recent 12 week scans :)

Thanks for the reassurance @STom2 and @RedElleJ @Hagster re scans, think I just got myself into a tizz!

I've actually got a bloody ear infection so so annoying so on antibiotics which freaked me out too as just worried about any little thing disturbing the balance and causing me to mc.... Doctor reassured me it was safe though and only have to take for 5/7 days. I am 6+1 today. Time actually seems to be going faster than it did last time... feeling quite sicky since Saturday, on and off nausea, general baseline of ick... taking as good sign. Not fun though, esp when have to work or run around after toddler!

RedElleJ · 18/08/2022 09:50

@Gamergirl84 that sounds rough - I haven't experienced anything like this before so can't offer much in the way of reassurance but if you are starting to feel better that has to be a good sign.

Congrats on the scan @WonderWoop

Unfortunately ladies, it looks like another loss for me. I had a bright red bleed this morning and passed a clot. The GP couldn't detect a heartbeat so I am off to EPU later this morning. I will keep you posted but it isn't looking great - I am gutted we just told a bunch of people yesterday.

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 09:52

@RedElleJ I'm so so so sorry, you have just been absolutely through the wringer with so so many scares. I am devastated for you if this is the end. But I really hope it'll be ok - it's really hard to pick up a heartbeat before 16 weeks even by a midwife or obstetrician so hopefully your GP just wasn't skilled enough. Everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you all day xxxxxx

WonderWoop · 18/08/2022 10:18

Oh @RedElleJ keeping everything crossed for you
