@Minnie82 can your gp refer you for a scan at all? My gp referred me to epu following a gush of red blood, as they refused to see me I've also had IVF. It turns out it was a subchronic haematoma.
I truly didn't expect that as my first miscarriage was just a tiny bit of brown spotting so I had expected the worst.

The lady who initially refused to book me in I found out through the consultant who scanned me was wrong, my local epu do want to see anyone with bleeding. I know that might change from area to area depending on capacity / processes.

Worth trying your GP if you haven't already.

281717O · 24/06/2022 16:27

@Minnie82 i have had some red spotting throughout but mostly pink. My epu also said that to me but I demanded I was seen as it was ongoing!
the pad thing is such a ridiculous rule, it is really worrying and I got myself so worked up but everything was fine when I went down but I do think you need that reassurance!

281717O · 24/06/2022 16:29

@Louise0701 @Minnie82 my gp referred me also, epu didn’t even want to talk to me without my gps ‘approval’

Minnie82 · 24/06/2022 16:30

@LouiseD2018 I will try my GP on Monday if its still bleeding. Fingers crossed I haven’t had anything this afternoon. Yes the Epu said they would only see me if i was filling the pad and had bad cramps. I have cramps but have had them since the start so they weren’t concerned with that.
I have had two scans so far both from my clinic and was measuring on target with good heartbeat. The last scan was 2 weeks ago when my clinic discharged me.

Minnie82 · 24/06/2022 16:53

Thank you 2817170 (sorry it won’t let me tag you) It is a ridiculous rule. I think if it comes back i will definitely ring back. I could go for a private scan but i would prefer to be at the hospital incase anything is wrong. Glad everything was fine for you.

Nora89 · 24/06/2022 19:44

I'm having the NICT at 10+4. I'll be scanned before bloods which will be our 1st scan. Wish I'd had another before but it seems to close now to bother. Should find out the sex even before 12 week scan all being well

Angelchops30 · 24/06/2022 21:22

Can I join you guys, had a dating scan this morning and due date is now 11/1/23

281717O · 24/06/2022 21:30

100% the consultant warned me against private scans today, she said the expertise is so low and they have a habit of saying what you want to hear to avoid bad custom which makes sense!
just demand with the hospital thats what I did, or if it comes back maybe sit in A&E little bit of a pain but it will put your mind at ease!

Leila2022 · 25/06/2022 06:37

i didn’t use progesterone yesterday as I felt a bit under the weather - woke up early this morning and used it again - went to the bathroom just now and had a massive streak of dark red / brown discharge - sorry TMI :(. I did have a few other episodes of very light pink brown spotting last week but very light …. This has happened quite. Few times now and every time I go to EPU it’s ok … I just feel it isn’t ok and all my symptoms have gone I am 11+5 today I have my scan next Friday … it’s causing me so much anxiety

Leila2022 · 25/06/2022 06:40

I keep saying this…. I have had so many scans etc. And always been warned by doctors and consultants that private scans are not regulated and just want to repeat scans as they make money ….. and a lot of disparity between what patients are told at the private scanning clinic to what is seen at NHS scans … I now steer clear of private scans and wouldn’t waste my money unless it is was a consultant from the hospital I attend ( usually v expensive ) or a very very reputable IVF clinic ..also v expensive

281717O · 25/06/2022 07:36

I agree! I won’t even be getting a private gender scan as tempting as it is.
this happened to me at nearly 8 weeks, I’d had pinkish spotting on and off then went to the toilet and pad had red/brown blood on sent me into panic mode, I’ve also had bleeding since but saw a happy healthy baby yesterday!
consultant told me yesterday after seeing a healthy heart beat on a scan miscarriage rates drop considerably.

im 11 weeks today (nhs dated) and after our scan yesterday we decided to tell close family and very close friends!

Leila2022 · 25/06/2022 08:00

Thanks for the early reply ! :)

I have had 2 TVUS and one TAUS so far

First one was at 7+3 weeks as I did not feel pregnant and have a history of MC and everything was fine, measured to date strong healthy HB

Then I had a follow up for reassurance that was at 9+3 again I didn’t feel pregnant and was expecting the worst - again everything was ok and measuring to date and a faster HB.

A week after that I had bleeding similar to what I had this morning… but was a bit less from memory they did an abdominal US and that was at around 10 weeks again everything was fine and HB ok… they weren’t worried. She also did a check of my cervix like a smear and said I have a tiny ectropian (but I have had this for years) - this can cause bleeding but I had zero problems with my last full term pregnancy - she said everything looked fine and nothing for concern at all ..

I had bleeding again after this - more like spotting really very light on two occasions last week and again today

Not sure if it’s because I stopped the progesterone for a day and was also a bit constipated- it does seem to happen after that …

I wanted to go back to EPU last week but I couldn’t be bothered to wait around as being in there causes me so much anxiety - I really hate going there ..

I do have my scan next week I think I’ll hold out until then - I started the progesterone again and it seems to have stopped but I’ll keep an eye on it

I just feel really really odd and strange - the little sickness I did have or light wave of nausea has gone and I have my appetite back -

I feel like I’m so pessimistic and always expecting the worst :(

Scans - the market of private scans according to my consultant Is worrying as they are marketed as reassurance scans and more often than not have practitioners (not doctors) who are not fully trained to properly diagnose anything. You can see a pregnancy and a HB but there are also many other signalling factors that could indicate a problem and most of these sonographers are not trained or have the expertise to diagnose or advise. I’m so lucky the hospital where I get my scans all are carried out by actual Gynae / OBs doctors who specialise in sonography - they. Have always warned me against private scans as aren’t regulated at all …

Anyones else’s nausea/vomiting almost go away completely around 9 weeks 3 days? A little worried.

brogan12 · 27/06/2022 05:58

@freckles503 mine did around 9 weeks, but honestly try not to worry. A few days later and I was being sick again worse than I was before! 10w6d now and other than feeling a little sick on the morning, I'm fine now all day. I think I read somewhere it's when the placenta starts to take over so it takes the strain of our bodies? I could be wrong though!

Leila2022 · 27/06/2022 06:50

I am 12 weeks today the past few days / week I have been able to eat things I couldn’t before … this pregnancy I haven’t suffered from Nausea like I did previous pregnancy … I have vomited 2 or 3 times but nothing major … I just went off lots of food types and didn’t feel hungry … but didn’t have debilitating sickness - which has really worried me …

As someone else pointed out things can change because of the placenta taking over etc or even your body getting used to the raging pregnancy hormones

try not worry - easier said than done xxx

Sassy144 · 27/06/2022 14:32

@freckles503 my symptoms really reduced around 8 weeks. Sore boobs totally stopped and sickness pretty much went too. Had a scan which showed all fine and midwife said it's totally normal.

Cookiemomma · 27/06/2022 18:39

Hi I've been very nervous about joining groups untill I reached 12wks. Silly I know, but I downloaded pregnancy apps, found out my due date and got myself all giddy and sadly had to delete after an early loss. So have been very cautious of getting my hopes up this time, and kept things close to my chest and only one close friend knows. I have my first scan tomorrow 12wks 2 days and I'm still worried the're not going to find a heartbeat, I know these are irrational thoughts, my fault for I suppose for reading so many sad stories on here and other sites for the past 12 wks. Fingers crossed for tomorrow and I hope to be in your Facebook group too, I must admit it's getting a bit lonely now having not shared with anyone else, so look forward to sharing the journey with you lovely ladies 🤞🏽😊

MightyMouse101 · 27/06/2022 19:11

Good luck tomorrow @Cookiemomma .
