11+2 today and my mum is coming to visit me until Tuesday.

My 12 week scan is on Monday so hoping we can keep the secret until then!

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 10:50

@babyjellyfish aw that will be a lovely surprise for her!

hopingfor23 · 23/06/2022 10:52

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 10:50

@babyjellyfish aw that will be a lovely surprise for her!

Yeah, it will.

I live in France so she kind of struggles with the fact that we don't live in the same country and she doesn't get to see her grandson as much as she would like. So she's super excited about coming to stay for a few days.

And she won't be expecting it at all because my son is only 14 months old and I had five miscarriages before him, so basically no one is asking us when we are having a second and they probably expect us to have problems again.

Last time she knew I was pregnant from about 6 weeks and I was letting her know after each scan that there was still a heartbeat, so the first trimester was probably almost as excruciating for her as it was for us.

Anyway, this time I want to wait until Monday because I'll have the official scan and the blood test results for the trisomy risk at the same time, and so if everything is looking good we can be as confident as possible that it will go well this time.

I've bought a little T-shirt for my son which says "promoted to big brother, January 2023" and if everything is looking good on Monday morning my husband will put the T-shirt on him and he can announce the news to nanny when he gets home from the childminder!

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 11:06

@babyjellyfish aw that's a lovely way to announce the news! After miscarriage I have also held off telling most people until we can actually all be excited about it at 12 weeks 🥰 can't wait to tell people without following with 'but we can't get too excited yet' etc etc.

@hopingfor23 so exciting ☺️ I'm trying my best to hide it until we share the news publicly but I've definitely noticed one or two people's eyes hover over my tummy 🙈

Somatronic · 23/06/2022 11:26

@Sassy144 I look enormous. I think it's bloat from the progesterone pessaries, I had to take since conception, which I stopped taking yesterday because otherwise the size of my tummy is ridiculous!

Had my 12 week scan today. All good. The baby was doing somersaults and waving and all sorts of tricks which was very sweet to see.

I won't post a picture because they all look the same at this stage, don't they 😁

Swale · 23/06/2022 12:41

I had my 12 week scan on Monday. I thought I was exactly 12 weeks but I was measuring 13+2 so my new due date is Christmas Eve which is exciting! 🎄 We announced the news to our wider friends yesterday with this photo. 😊

MightyMouse101 · 23/06/2022 12:54

@Swale We're planning to do something very similar!

I’m so so sorry, I think you were past 12 weeks as well? Must have been an awful shock. Seems to have been some terrible luck on this group lately. Sending love.

281717O · 23/06/2022 18:53

@BabyGray im so sorry, my heart breaks for you!

Leila2022 · 23/06/2022 19:52

The NHS guidelines are to continue progesterone until 16 weeks pregnant. It’s also not good to stop it suddenly, it’s advised to taper off using it gradually. Get medical advice before stopping it as it will result in a drop in a hormone that your body has gotten used to.

:)

Leila2022 · 23/06/2022 19:53

I’m so sorry thinking of you xx

fancyfrogs · 24/06/2022 09:16

@Swale omg had to double take at the fox 🤣 we have the same T-shirt and will hopefully do a similar pic in a few weeks!

ExpectingaRainbow · 24/06/2022 11:57

Hi all,

I am around 11 weeks and had the IONA test yesterday. Wondering if anybody has opted for an NIPT test before their 12 week scan?

I've had 3 private scans so far this pregnancy at 6 weeks, 9 weeks and then 1 was included with the IONA which has been super helpful for my anxiety, especially as I've had quite a bit of brown spotting.

Swale · 24/06/2022 12:31

Someone messaged me for the Facebook group link so I’ll post it again for anyone else interested fb.me/g/p_eJp93LdgUg2VdopM/4XIISF94

281717O · 24/06/2022 14:09

Epu finally saw me this baby, measuring ahead of my dates at 10.6 weeks which is exciting!
everything was fine could see no reason for bleeding however the did mention bowels we’re on the outside but said this is absolutely normal for this gestation and they should go in by 12 weeks!
anyone else had this?
honestly was lovely to see though, could make out little hands and feet!

Leila2022 · 24/06/2022 15:00

I have no idea why they mention these things because it does nothing more than cause unnecessary alarm.

it it’s normal why mention it and alarm the expectant mother.

best person to ask is at EPU or your GP if this is any cause for concern - which I’m sure it isn’t xxx

281717O · 24/06/2022 15:10

Well I thought that! The sonography said the only reason she put it on the notes was because I have a scan on Tuesday and she would be expected too!
however I’m not worried I spoke to the consultant on shift after who also explained it is normal so I’m going with that!

Minnie82 · 24/06/2022 15:46

Im 11 weeks 3 days with an IVF pregnancy and have had bright red spotting today. Its mixed in with the remains on progesterone I’m on so I’m really hoping its due to irritation, but my cervix seems lower when doing the progesterone than it has before…so im panicking now. Why is pregnancy so stressful (ive had multiple losses before due to genetic reasons). EPU won’t see me unless I’m filling up a pad and. I can’t get hold of midwife. I have another 2 weeks until my 12 week (more 13 week) scan.
