Sorry for the double post. In the past few days I've been feeling a very mild discomfirt in my tummy, like the previous days to the period. Not cramps, just a dull discomfort. I told the midwife and she reassured me that I will know if sth is happening. But I'm FTM, how will I know when I've never been through this before 😢

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 16:17

@Flowerbug1994 mine are changing like daily now. 😩 sometimes little tiny kicks, sometimes big kicks, sometimes quiet for two hours, sometimes non stop for two hours. That’s just my non pattern baby, though. The past two days have felt so off as the movements just feel weird (baby kicked so fast yesterday and today so lightly), but midwife monitored heart beat on Doppler and said they seem happy and healthy. Baby even kicked the Doppler. I suppose baby is getting bigger by the day and running out of room, if movements have reduced I’d call triage, if movements have changed I’d just keep an eye out, it’s not the intensity of movements but the amount. (Rolls are count as kicks I only learnt this Saturday in triage lol)

@Lostintranslatio could be the weight of the baby in your belly now. I think we will all know when somethings happening. It must be like a period on steroids lol

Flowerbug1994 · 24/05/2022 16:36

@Vimto1991 i was thinking they had reduced but now am thinking it was just a quite couple of hours. I have never ever had a pattern am going to give it a few more hours as he’s picked up the past couple of hours. It’s just so nerve wracking towards the end isn’t it.

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 16:48

@Flowerbug1994 it really is! Two weeks left but I feel like the next 14 days I’m going to be anxious of something going wrong, trouble is, when baby doesn’t have a pattern, it’s hard to know when to go in or not! Earlier, baby kicked for about an hour and is clearly just taking a long nap now. 🙈 so difficult not to expect them to robotically wake up at the same time every day! You have my full sympathy on a non pattern baby… the hospital told me that not having a pattern is a pattern. How?! 😂

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 24/05/2022 17:20

@Lostintranslatio you absolutely will know the difference when something is happening. Although I would describe the start of labour as like period cramps they are a lot more intense and definitely unmistakable. @Flowerbug1994 I’m also 37+4 today and movements the last couple of days definitely seem to be really ‘big’ most definitely rolls as opposed to kicks. I do wonder what exactly he’s up to in there because it feels so weird.

Flowerbug1994 · 24/05/2022 17:26

@Vimto1991 the not having a pattern being a pattern thing blows my mind !!!!! Am in for my pre op on Thursday so section will be done by next Thursday I know it’s only 9 days at the latest but it feels so far away without a definite date they are saying the lists are full and when someone goes into labour early and drops off that elective list I will get a call but am a control freak and my anxiety is through the roof that something is going to go wrong. Am generally today feeling I’ve had less movement but I’ve been out and about and I have a gut feeling he is ok as the movement I have had has been reassuring. Am going to have my dinner and a bath and then see how I feel If am unsure I’ll call triage. It’s really true what people say the last month of pregnancy is the longest of your life !!

CurryandSnuggle · 24/05/2022 17:31

Omg guys. I don’t know if labour is near but I’m a different person today. I feel period crampy, baby is really head butting my cervix and I haven’t stopped crying since 3pm. I am literally crying over something so silly and I can’t stop. I’ve been emotionally stable the entire pregnancy and now I am crying over the most minor thing, and I cannot stop. I actually feel like I’m coming on my period.

CurryandSnuggle · 24/05/2022 17:32

DH has just bought me chocolate and a ready meal to cheer me up bless him 🥰

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 17:41

@CurryandSnuggle Oooo sounds like labour is near- exciting! I'm a bit jealous of your cramps! I have been crying SO much the last couple of weeks it's ridiculous. Anything and everything sets me off!

Flowerbug1994 · 24/05/2022 17:52

@Whatcanmyusernamebe ive just said to my mum he feels big like he can’t move as much as he could do. Can’t wait to just have him here.

InvisibleDragon · 24/05/2022 17:53

Good luck with your delivery tomorrow @destiEos ! So exciting that you will be meeting your little one so soon!

I still have no date for my ELCS after my 36week appointment today, but it should be between 39 and 40 weeks, which feels very soon (currently 36+4).

Thought I was doing ok on sleep, but decided to try out the web app I'm supposed to recommend to clients with insomnia at work. It scored me 2.5/10 for sleep quality Confused. Maybe not doing so well after all!

destiEos · 24/05/2022 18:00

@CurryandSnuggle @annie1994 thank you, equal parts terror and excitement here 😬 Also am dying for chocolate, I've ordered a carrot cake and as soon as they tell me my GD is done I'm going to eat ALL OF IT 🤪

@Flowerbug1994 same here, pattern is really not a pattern but as long as there's some movement every so often, I'm reassured. And as @Whatcanmyusernamebe said more rolls than kicks as he got bigger, definitely. But as usual, if you're worried, get down there and they'll check, they are so understanding 🙏🏻

destiEos · 24/05/2022 18:02

@InvisibleDragon thanks, we're actually at 38 weeks - a bit worried about it being too early, but doc was very reassuring that it's fine for baby, so we stuck with it. And I'm very happy to be moving onto the next stage 🥳

Octoblockisadick · 24/05/2022 18:16

@Lostintranslatio I feel the exact same. Like my period is due in a day or two, and so much lightning crotch. I had such bad pains this morning but they've stopped now. I was actually almost crying sat on the toilet about 10.30 this morning because of how bad they were.
@CurryandSnuggle I've been very emotional as well today, feel all over the place tbh.

@InvisibleDragon my sleep feels shocking at the moment, are you allowed to share the app? Would be interested to see how I score haha!

@destiEos yay to being first on the list, no waiting around all day! I was 38w when I had my section last time, it was fine so I'm sure you'll be OK. Take some peppermint capsules or tea or something for the gas, it does help. I took peppermint cordial because I couldn't get tea or capsules and it was vile though haha.

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 18:18

I ordered a spicy curry tonight to see if it will do anything other than cause me heartburn and mouth pain. 🙈

@destiEos so excited for you!! More so for the baby tomorrow, but also for your carrot cake soon haha!!

Annabell1 · 24/05/2022 18:47

@Prema112 Glad you saw the Consultant and all is well. x
@destiEos Wow, I can't believe your c section is tomorrow. I hope you can sleep well tonight. All the best and a quick recovery. Keep us posted. 💕
@thewindbeneathmywings & @fpeg
Such gorgeous pictures. 🥰
@annie1994
Hope baby will get into position shortly. 🤞🏻

I had another scan yesterday and baby is growing well, but I now have low amniotic fluid and got told to monitor baby closely. I'm trying to drink more and see if that helps. Any advice is welcome.
I'm ready for her to come, honestly.

Also tried colostrum harvesting for the first time and was really successful. Feeling quite proud. 😅 To those that are collecting as well, how much are you planning to freeze and then take to hospital?
I'm also thinking about combination feeding to take the pressure away. Any advice in terms of how many bottles to get?

InvisibleDragon · 24/05/2022 18:54

@Octoblockisadick The app is sleepio: www.sleepio.com/nhs

It's more like a webpage than an app (wish there was an app version!). It's free and it will suggest personalised ways of improving your sleep, but it requires a bit of playing along / willing suspension of disbelief as you get talked at by a cartoon professor with a Scottish accent!

thewindbeneathmywings · 24/05/2022 19:24

@Annabell1
I've been combination feeding as ds was 4 weeks early and jaundice so was easier to express and bottle feed him to ensure he was getting the fluids.
I'm now starting to breastfeed more. Starting with him in the breast and then topping up with expressed milk in a bottle.

Mainly for the last 2 weeks he's just had the bottles. We've had 4 bottles that works well for us as I have 2/3 made up in the fridge at a time.

Roxystar23 · 24/05/2022 20:17

@thewindbeneathmywings - Aww! Your message just melted my heart!

@destiEos Will be thinking about you tomorrow! How exciting!!

I’m also in the no pattern club. Sometimes my baby will start kicking while I lay in bed in the morning as if to say “get up now!”. Sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they will be more active in the evening. Sometimes they are not. If I get worried about not having felt my baby for a while I look for a channel showing a football match as my baby tends to kick if there’s some crowd noise. Obviously takes after their dad loving football! 😂

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 21:24

@Roxystar23 I’ve just done this but with rock music! Both DH and I love rock so that’s good… unless baby is telling me they hate it and I’ve woken them up from a long nap! I hard hardly any movements the past three hours, bit of cold water and rock music and boom, my belly is like an octopus 🤦‍♀️ Not the first time they’ve been quiet at this time of night. Seems to be the time we go to triage, so I guess that’s a pattern in itself 😅 I get you on the active that day then not. I got woken up this morning by kicks, too 😂 so frustrating.
I really wish they’d just pop out now instead of messing with our heads!!

Annabell1 · 24/05/2022 21:47

Thanks so much.
@thewindbeneathmywings Which bottles are you using and did Callum accept them straight away?

beansprout55 · 24/05/2022 21:49

@fpeg and @thewindbeneathmywings 🥺🥰 gorgeous little babies. So so cute xxxx
@fpeg also thank you so so much for posting your experiences, actually print screened one to read when mine comes along as finding your tips so useful!!

@destiEos Good luck tomorrow! So excited for you xx

We just nipped out in pj's as I'm dying for a mild curry pot noodle. Waiting in the car now thinking about it. Love drinking the left over curry water at the end. 🙈 x

thewindbeneathmywings · 24/05/2022 21:59

@Annabell1
We were using the disposable cow & gate teats whilst in the hospital. When we were discharged we were advised that the mam bottles would be best for us as the tests were a similar size. Callum took to them without any issues!

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 22:01

i just had a little bright red spotting on my tissue when I wiped. Only caught it twice and seems to be gone and nothing in my knickers. I have no idea if it was from my vagina or my labia (which is tmi but itchy from treating thrush). It was like four or five dots of blood that has now gone.
no idea if I need to call anyone or just see if I get any more bleeding tonight? 😳

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/05/2022 22:08

@Vimto1991 I’d call and see what they say. Can you see any area of bleeding or broken skin on the labia?
