Thanks @fpeg I hope so too! So utterly different from my first labour: 39 weeks waters exploded and he was with us 4 hours later!

pregnancydiaries · 05/06/2022 18:52

@Prema112 it's a section, in at 7am, hope I'm early on the list!x

unknownscot · 05/06/2022 18:52

@pregnancydiaries
So exciting.

I'm excited now for this week, keep thinking by the end of next weekend we should hopefully have a baby!
It's crazy.

X

Vimto1991 · 05/06/2022 19:28

No progress for me in terms of baby. I should be hopefully moving to the delivery suite tonight. Just had a pointless day of waiting around still on the induction ward, whilst the day shift midwife was totally dismissive of my pain, took four hours to get paracetamol this morning and an hour and a half this evening, and she wouldn’t let me get codeine (then again, I’ve become incredibly constipated so may be from that), she even said she needs to be careful I don’t overdose on paracetamol… I last had it at 12 (requested at 8) and finally got some more half an hour ago! Every single midwife has been so lovely, except her! Couldn’t believe it. She told me to just breath through the pain. My baby is back to back, I’d like to see her breath through that. 😤

Prema112 · 05/06/2022 19:42

Oh @Vimto1991 I'm so sorry it's all still going! Poor you, I want to give you a big hug! (In-between contractions of course) You definitely win the prize for most endurance I don't know how you're doing it, especially just on paracetamol?! Are you on the drip now? X

@pregnancydiaries So excited for you!! Not long now!! 🤱

Vimto1991 · 05/06/2022 19:52

@Prema112 no, I don’t know I’ll go on a drip in delivery as that’s where they’ll break my waters? After the third pessary I dilated to 3cm so they were just happy to send me over. Although my contractions aren’t as close together anymore. At one stage it was every two minutes, feels like every 15-20 now :/ really hope cervix’s don’t close up lol!

Vimto1991 · 05/06/2022 19:53

@Prema112 also thank you for the virtual
hug!! You guys have been so supportive thank you so much 🥺 I know not all inductions are this messy, so hope this doesn’t scare anyone else off!

Annabell1 · 05/06/2022 19:58

@MrsM29 Congratulations Flowers . What a great birth.
@Vimto1991 I'm so sorry to hear that things are taking so long. I hope you will meet your little one very soon! Xx

Letsbekindplease · 05/06/2022 20:01

been thinking of you today @Vimto1991 was hoping to you’d had baby by now but it won’t be long. Remember if you don’t want that midwife you can tell them to not send her back in. My friend did that with a rude one. No need for it!!!! Wishing you pain free experience from here on in.

im very cranky tonight but no more than usual and it will likely be because I’m a bit dehydrated.

annie1994 · 05/06/2022 20:40

@Vimto1991 you poor thing, no wonder why you’re so fed up! Really hope once you get on the delivery ward they can start the drip/ break your waters and that really kickstarts your labour. You’ve got this! It will all be worth it in the end 💕

Vimto1991 · 05/06/2022 20:58

@Annabell1 thank you! Really hoping tomorrow is the latest this baby is inside me!! 🤞

@Letsbekindplease thank you!! Luckily she’s gone and the night midwife is super nice thank god! There only seems to be one per ten of us in the induction unit. I understand crankiness. Think that stems from being so uncomfortable and pregnant so you are within your rights to be cranky 🙈

@annie1994 thank you, fingers crossed!! Hopefully it will be a walk in the park compared to the last four days haha!! 😂 it really will be worth it, although sometimes I do forget why I’m even here!! 🙈 like there’s legit a baby that’s going to come out! Crazy!!

beansprout55 · 05/06/2022 21:09

@Vimto1991 urgh, how rude! I agree - the majority of the HCP's I've come across so far on this journey have been SO kind and compassionate, but you do get the odd one who really isn't and they shouldn't be in that kind of job. Especially when it comes to working in maternity where you're dealing with every aspect of a person, incl their mental health - you need to be warm. Gutted baby Vimto isn't here yet - you poor girl, you must be so so shattered. Is hubby still camping in the car at nights?
xx

Letsbekindplease · 05/06/2022 21:11

@vimpto I meant CRAMPY haha damn auto correct on this phone. I am cranky too though haha x

Vimto1991 · 05/06/2022 21:17

@beansprout55 yeah it’s really a shame! But I won’t let her dampen my experience as I have found everyone else to have been so lovely and understanding of how difficult this has been on me and DH!! He is still camping in the car, too worried baby vimto will make an appearance when we live 45 minutes away 😂 his knees are playing up with how he’s sleeping but I guess that’s the price he pays, and a lot less painful than mine lol!!

@Letsbekindplease OH 😂🙈 amazing auto correct!! Yeah I’d try having some fluids, I found being dehydrated would set off BH or even holding in pee would set it off 🙈

fpeg · 05/06/2022 22:13

OH has had to go away for 3 days for business, tonight is our first night on our own. I have found this evening a little tougher as, typically, she hasn't wanted to sleep so where he would normally take over and I get a break I haven't had that. I swear she knows and that's why she's playing up 😂

Roll on Wednesday when we get daddy back! Any single mums out there have my utmost respect as I'm only on night one and feeling his absence. Think I'm just being a bit soft, but know I can voice it amongst friends here 💕

Fingers crossed that all the awakeness today means she'll sleep tonight 🤞😴 (probably wishful thinking I know 😂)

Rolledthedice · 05/06/2022 22:16

Oh you poor thing @Vimto1991 - I’m sorry baby is taking their time making an appearance! Bless your hubby for camping out in the car every night. Keeping everything crossed that things move along for you. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

MrsNT · 05/06/2022 22:32

Question for Ladies who are doing colustrum harvesting..im having some trouble. I started doing it 37 weeks onwards and was doing it everu other day..ovcasionally id get a drop of blood in colustrum and stop and start later however today one side was almost blood and i tried expressing it out and wasting it to get it to become clear but doesnt work. Anyone else had bloody colustrum?? Making me really worried

Brightsmoke · 06/06/2022 01:39

@MrsNT no experience of blood in colostrum before baby, but my first born definitely was eating strawberry milkshake for a good week after birth. Is the nipple cracked? I'd definitely speak to midwife but also have a break and get some lansinoh nipple cream to help if it's painful.

Now officially 40+3. First born came at 40+15 so I shouldn't be surprised but I'm so so fed up 😫

Octoblockisadick · 06/06/2022 03:16

@EarlGreywithLemon just disposable currently, they've been freebies so far. I prefer the boots ones to the lasinoh so far, they seem less "fluffy", but still don't stay in place haha.

@destiEos I'm finding the night feeds harder, think it's where i can't see as well for getting the latch, plus the frequency makes my nipples very tender haha. He seems like he's done so i put him down then 2 mins later he's like erm i wasnt finished you know haha. Milk definitely coming in, boobs very full and heavy.

@pregnancydiaries good luck for today! And that's rubbish @Vimto1991 , could your husband bring you some paracetamol from home so you can be in control a bit?

@fpeg hope tonight is going alright! DH will be back before you know it and you'll be great until then ❤

JAR1981 · 06/06/2022 04:09

@Octoblockisadick @EarlGreywithLemon Another vote here for Lansinoh reusable. I did have Lansinoh disposal before that but the reusable are so much better - softer and stay put.

another one here for the sore nipple club. Unfortunately since E got his cold his latch has gone to pot, and is now really shallow no matter what I seem to try. He’s really struggling to breathe breastfeeding and sounds like a little piggy poor thing. Any tips?

CurryandSnuggle · 06/06/2022 04:44

@CurryandSnuggle
Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️

fpeg · 06/06/2022 05:21

@Octoblockisadick thanks, I was just feeling quite soft last night! She's been pretty good overnight, just woken slightly earlier than normal this morning, I can love with that though ☺️

@JAR1981 my mum gave me a tip for when she gets her first cold, she says get a bit of damp cotton wool and twist it into a narrow strand, then just wiggle that up their nose (can't hit them because it isn't solid, but being damp makes it firm enough to allow you to pass it into the nostril), this makes them sneeze and helps expel all the gunk. I haven't done it myself yet, but she was a midwife (full disclosure- 40 years ago now!) and says this is what they used to do with the special care babies to help them when they got blocked noses.

@CurryandSnuggle she's absolutely gorgeous 💕💕 congratulations to you and I hope the healing goes well xx

fpeg · 06/06/2022 05:47

Thought I'd share my useful purchase with you all... I bought a night light type thing from Amazon in the shape of a book. It's great because you can increase the light by opening it further or vice versa. I've found it really helpful for the night feeds and it gives me enough light without disturbing OH or baby.
