@fpeg our health visitor asked if we were giving Vitamin D, but didn’t dispense any. So it might differ from area to area (or things have changed from 2019!)

Prema112 · 03/06/2022 22:22

Wow @CurryandSnuggle exciting!! Thinking of you and hoping it goes so well tonight and you have your baby in your arms before morning ❤️ Let us know ☺️

PlodandPod · 03/06/2022 22:35

Congrats to all those with new arrivals, and thinking of you all in labour or nearly there!

I have a sweep booked in at 39+6 next Thursday, it's been helpful to know your experiences and whether it's going to hurt! 😣

@CurryandSnuggle sounds like some point tonight may be the night, I'm so excited for you!! Good luck if it happens in the middle of the night 💗

@Vimto1991 sorry you're having such a rubbish time but you're right, it will all be so worth it.

@Octoblockisadick can't believe you're still waiting!!!! 🤞🏼 you get taken soon, thinking of you x

unknownscot · 03/06/2022 23:10

This baby is kicking me senseless tonight 😂 Just come out little one!

Annabell1 · 03/06/2022 23:13

Congratulations @mrkb @sunflower198 @Flowerbug1994 @Roxystar23 @PleaseSendNoodles @destiEos @JAR1981

Thanks @fpeg & @thewindbeneathmywings for your bottle recommendations. I bought a few Mam bottles now.
@InvisibleDragon The book Cribsheets has a good section on circumcision as well. Hope you will find a good compromise. X

@CurryandSnuggle & @Octoblockisadick Good luck, thinking of you! 🤞🏼

MrsNT · 03/06/2022 23:52

How many days after seeing mucus plug or parts of it does one go in labour? Im sure i saw some of mine today.

JAR1981 · 04/06/2022 02:27

@MrsNT 3 days for me.

anyone that’s already had a child, how common is a cold/blocked nose for a newborn? Euan is 17 days and really suffering since this afternoon. We have an aspirator which draws some of it out, and the mucus also comes up/out of nose when winding. But he is struggling to sleep and feed with it.Waiting for a call back from the local out of hours team via 111, but it’s awful seeing him in such distress poor little thing. Otherwise no signs of a temperature or anything else.

fpeg · 04/06/2022 02:41

@EarlGreywithLemon bloody typical that things would change but area! 😂

@JAR1981 poor little thing 💕, no idea on an answer to your question but it just sounds awful for the little mite 💕

Octoblockisadick · 04/06/2022 03:04

Baby Charlie arrived by emergency c section at 11.51pm last night, weighing 9lb 13oz ❤❤. Latched on straight away in recovery and seems to be feeding really well so far.

I had quite a big blood pressure drop pre surgery, then when I went in they said my uterine wall was extremely thin, and there were there beginnings of a placental abruption so it was a good thing we were in theatre. They've advised us to think very carefully about any future babies as it would be very high risk. We've already decided we are done though so not a problem.

I'm feeling good, and have most of my movement back in my legs already which is really good. We went into theatre about 11.30pm, and I could move my legs quite well by about 2am.

Prema112 · 04/06/2022 04:34

Welcome to the world baby Charlie!!! Congratulations @Octoblockisadick, so pleased to hear you were well looked after and he is such a lovely healthy weight!

@CurryandSnuggle thinking of you!

My back cramps were a little bit worse yesterday eve but still v mild. Wondered if it might be the start of something. Watched 2 weeks notice with DH and went to sleep about 10.30. Have been awake since 2.30 with (I think!) mild contractions, 1 every 10 mins, very manageable but praying it's a really gentle start to labour 🙏

CurryandSnuggle · 04/06/2022 04:54

@Octoblockisadick aww congratulations, yay!! 🥰🥰

@Prema112 yay, good luck, so exciting!! I’m having very strong/painful contractions but still enough time apart to allow me to snooze in between. They’re ramping up again now, I think my body just knew I needed some respite for what’s to come. I was unable to sleep laying down as laying down, not sure why, the pressure just becomes unreal. But I managed to snooze for 20-30 minutes at a time between 2-4.30 by sitting up on the sofa with head supported by pillows!! I’m up now and going to start bouncing on my ball as I don’t want labour to be slowing down now I’ve had some respite.

Good luck prema 🤞 hope things start ramping up for you soon 🥰

caz198917 · 04/06/2022 05:23

Hello again all! Touching base again!! Sorry I seem to have missed out on so much! Congratulations on all the new arrivals and best wishes to those to come! My Baby boy arrived at 40 plus 1. First contraction at 8.02am to arrival at 11.17am. By the time I got to hospital I was already 7cm so it was horrendous and no time for an epidural! However I'm so glad of that now! I achieved my VBAC and am over the moon!

CurryandSnuggle · 04/06/2022 05:34

@caz198917 so lovely to read as a fellow VBAC-hopeful. Congratulations! 🥰 aww look at your little bundle of joy ❤️

pregnancydiaries · 04/06/2022 05:44

@Octoblockisadick congratulations!!! Charlie is such a cute name too 💙 how are you recovering? Hoping you both get home quickly.

@caz198917 congratulations! Sounds like a very quick labour which I'm sure was sore but good to be over with quickly! Hope you're enjoying your newborn bubble.

@CurryandSnuggle @Prema112 crossing my fingers today is the day for you ladies.

Knowing that LO is coming on Monday has stopped me being able to sleep, I've been ironing since 430am 😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/06/2022 06:14

@JAR1981 we had a few episodes of blocked nose when our daughter was a newborn, also no temperature. We did take her in to the GP the first time, at 2-3 weeks old, they checked her over, but were pretty unconcerned. They said we could do saline nose drops and/or an aspirator if we wanted, but it would go away by itself. Unfortunately, just like your case, the aspirator didn’t help that much.
So from my experience, good that you’re getting it checked out, I would too, but there might not be that much they can do annoyingly

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/06/2022 06:18

My word, things are moving so fast! Congratulations to all the lovely new babies and good luck to those still in labour.

@Octoblockisadick so glad all is well, but how scary for you! Did you lose a lot of blood? I was the lucky recipient of an early suspected placental abruption last time, also already in theatre. Another reason I really wanted a C section this time around!

fpeg · 04/06/2022 06:34

@Octoblockisadick I'm so happy for you that you've had a safe arrival. I'm sure it must have been so stressful moving to an emergency section! Great news that he latched on so well so quickly, and that you were mobile so soon afterwards! Wishing you a speedy recovery xxx I'm also glad that the news in further kids has fired in with what you already wanted❤️

@caz198917 congratulations on the arrival of your little one! So happy for you that you got the birth you wanted ❤️

@CurryandSnuggle fingers crossed for arrival today then 🤞

@Prema112 exciting that it sounds like it could have started! Good luck for progression today 🤞

Octoblockisadick · 04/06/2022 07:06

Managed to get a bit of sleep so I'll catch up now haha. Thank you for all the congratulations, I'm so in love. He's gorgeous (I'm biased haha), and I've put a picture on the fb group ❤.
@pregnancydiaries I actually feel fine tbh. I've just had some paracetamol because I'm getting up in a minute, but I don't actually feel like I needed it, I only had it in case moving around is a bit sore.

@InvisibleDragon have you and your husband managed to have a talk and agree yet? Hopefully you have and are happy with the decision 😊.

@JAR1981 I think it is quite common due to all the "birth gunk" up there (to use the technical term haha). Saline nasal drops before feeds help a bit, they loosen anything up to make it easier to come out.

@Prema112 and @CurryandSnuggle hopefully this is it for you 🤞🤞.

Congratulations @caz198917 so glad you got your vbac! I bet you are so proud of yourself.

@EarlGreywithLemon only 400ml as it was only just starting to happen. There was meconium in the waters too so baby will need some obs I think. Although I originally wanted a vbac out sounds like it was a good thing in the end that it didn't go that way for other reasons based on what ended up happening in theatre. If I had been labouring at home (contractions were only 2 in 10 so wouldn't have been in yet) it could've been an issue. Not to scare anyone wanting a vbac though, I'm sure it's quite rare!!

Vimto1991 · 04/06/2022 08:15

Congrats to all the latest mamas!! You must be overjoyed 🥰🥰

im still in the induction unit!! There is talks of a fourth gel or c section so water birth is now off the cards, my body is too stubborn to have this baby. So much so I’ve only just lost my mucus plug. 😬

Brightsmoke · 04/06/2022 08:20

Congratulations to all the new mamas, so many now!

@Vimto1991 I really hope things pick up for you soon. I was the same with my first born, have they suggested the drip?

I didn't end up getting a stretch and sweep yesterday. Didn't even get a call from the midwife like promised :( I messaged my own midwife who I think is working this weekend and have requested one. Feeling a bit neglected by the HB team, but still hopeful baby will come before induction next week 🤞🏻

Annabell1 · 04/06/2022 08:28

@caz198917 Congratulations! Such a cutie. ❤️
@Octoblockisadick What a night, but I'm glad you and baby Charlie are well. Congratulations Mama. ❤️
@CurryandSnuggle & @Prema112 I hope you manage to get enough rest between contractions and are progressing well. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm having another scan on Monday to see how my amniotic fluid looks like. I hope I have a bit of time left. Still working for another 1.5 weeks as well. 🙈

Vimto1991 · 04/06/2022 08:29

@Brightsmoke the doctor is coming by at some point this morning to discuss my options with me. I think they do offer the drip as well. If I go down that route I’m definitely asking for pethidine again, I actually managed about five hours sleep with it!! Is that how it went with your first baby then? 3 gels then a drip? I’ve started to feel proper drained and a bit rubbish in myself that my body is making no progress, then again, my body hasn’t done this before and now it’s being forced to do something.

Brightsmoke · 04/06/2022 08:36

@Vimto1991 I think I had 2 pessaries then got my waters broken and eventually ended up on the drip. I had 2 bouts of pethidine, and like you it allowed me to catch up slightly on sleep. I recommend keeping up and active as much as possible. I was strapped to the ctg most of the 2 days I was contracting, but when I was able to be mobile, things progressed a lot more.

Vimto1991 · 04/06/2022 08:40

@Brightsmoke yeah I’ve been on the yoga ball, had a walk to the hospital’s greggs, last night the contractions hurt so much that I was just pacing my room. Im going to try more of a walk about in a bit before the doctor exams my cervix and gives me my options. Hopefully after a sweep yesterday and my mucus plug going, something may actually happen naturally!
im About to be kicked out this room to go to another (thankfully another solo room), as it’s the only one with its own toilet. It was nice whilst it lasted, but wonder if this new person has covid. 😬 hopefully I’m not sick again, that was one good benefit to having my own toilet, that and timing contractions with peeing. 😂
I feel like I’m gonna be here forever!!
