@unknownscot I think if it's already frozen you don't want to add fresh stuff and potentially defrost it - I think if it's been in the fridge instead then it's ok to top it up for 24-48hrs.

InvisibleDragon · 30/05/2022 07:57

Good luck today @mrkb and @sunflower198 !!

Letsbekindplease · 30/05/2022 08:32

Yes good luck ladies. @sunflower198 @mrkb how exciting

I have just a week to go and I am really feeling it today. I’ve been drinking the raspberry tea, using my ball and I really don’t know what else. Sex is the last thing on the cards for me as I’m just really not interested and my DP I think feels the same although I don’t think he wants to offend haha. I’m only on my ball in the evening for 30 mins as I can’t seem to squeeze it into my day with having my toddler, but I’m always on my feet so surly that’s doing something. need to up my game.

on a plus my babies movements are much better than the other evening.

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 08:42

@beansprout55 i was having braxton hicks on a ctg and baby definitley reacts to it - not in distress but it does make them move as it shrinks your womb with the contraction, I notice it took their heart rate from 140 to 160/170 same as when they did their normal movements, so I wouldn’t be too worried about sex stressing them out.

Katiebaby13 · 30/05/2022 09:46

@MrsNT I am due 20th June.

@needarainbow that is really poor of your midwife. Hopefully she will get in touch with you when she is back from her holiday.

I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea and read something yesterday that we shouldn't have hibiscus and my tea bags include both. I'd never heard that before. Has anyone else? I can't find much actual research why it shouldn't be consumed.

annie1994 · 30/05/2022 10:07

Good luck @sunflower198 and @mrkb hope everything goes smoothly🤞🏼

pregnancydiaries · 30/05/2022 10:09

Thinking of you ladies @mrkb @sunflower198 Can't wait for the updates!!xx

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 10:52

Sorry a bit late replying from Friday, I’ve been making the most of a child-free weekend with DH while DS is at the grandparents. If I were to bet on any day for my labour to start spontaneously it would’ve been Saturday: sorry for TMI we had sex, sat out in the sun reading a good book, went for a long walk, had a 0% cider in a beer garden, came home and snuggled while watching a movie and eating choc, cooked a Gousto, did an hour of colostrum harvesting. Nothing!! Ahhh lol. Couldn’t have had more oxytocin going if I tried 😂
I know the due date isn’t until 3rd but was hoping she might come early while DS is at the grandparents 😂

not helped by the well-meaning but nosy texts from every man and his dog asking if I’ve had the baby yet! (Any one else suffering this?!)

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 11:04

@DaimDillyDoo ah, sweeps do get mixed reviews but within 14 hours of my sweep with DS I went into labour. Fingers crossed for your sweep on Weds and mine Tues.

Current plan for my VBAC is sweep on Tuesday and if not, I will be induced at 41 weeks. But I’ve been thinking I’m going to ask for a second sweep in between if tomorrow’s doesn’t work.

@Prema112 Sorry to read you’ve been getting anxious re: movements. If you want a sweep at 40 week appointment I bet they’d do it if you asked 🙂

@Octoblockisadick Good luck with your sweep on Tuesday too!

@MrsTwentyNine ooh sounds like bubba has engaged 😍

@Starbeach bless you, I don’t blame you re: injections after section. I didn’t know about it with my unplanned section with DS. Midwife came round to inform me when I was so sleep deprived I barely remembered talking to her, the next day I was like “what are you talking about I need to inject myself”. A lot of people will think I’m mad but I refused to do it and didn’t do it. I was told to stay mobile to reduce my risk of DVT as I declined the injections.

@Flowerbug1994 @sunflower198 Good luck with section, so exciting!!!

@Octoblockisadick I know what you mean about really wanting to experience vaginal birth but also not wanting emergency section. I think we just need to trust our gut with our decisions and go in with a positive mindset as sadly no one has a crystal ball so just got to do what we feel is right. That’s why I’ve opted for VBAC.

also I’m going to try acupressure now! Good idea, thanks for sharing 😁

@MrsNT i’m colostrum harvesting everyday. After a few days it got quicker to the point I am filling a 1ml syringe within 30 minutes. I ordered additional sterifeed syringes from Amazon.

Octoblockisadick · 30/05/2022 13:36

@Letsbekindplease I feel the same about sex haha, don't think I could try it at the minute, I feel too uncomfortable.

@Katiebaby13 I've not heard that, I've just googled and it says it can cause cramps which may cause miscarriage in 1st trimester, so hopefully not an issue by now.

@CurryandSnuggle I've not had any messages yet thankfully, but tbh I haven't told many people my due date haha. I've only said June or middle of June at most, I'm due 11th. Hopefully by saying that it's enough to delay questions until at least around then. I'm hoping my sweep tomorrow helps, my parents are also collecting my daughter tomorrow for the rest of the week, and I've got pregnancy reflexology booked for Wednesday. Are you going for the full induction process if you get that far, or have you got a mental cut off point where you will request a section instead?
I'm debating asking for the balloon or my waters to be broken, but not accepting the drip if those aren't enough alone. I'm very torn though.

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 14:10

@Octoblockisadick I've been told they would only break my waters and do oxytocin drip as it’s a VBAC. I’ve asked for them to break my waters without oxytocin. I did say no to oxytocin but I may change my mind on the day (if it gets to induction) depending how things are going. I’m really unsure about it as I want to have a less medicalised birth this time if I can.

Letsbekindplease · 30/05/2022 14:13

This might sound like a stupid question but how are you collecting colostrum? My nipples were very leaky by this stage with my DS and so far I’ve had absolutely nothing. So I’m assuming you guys who are collecting have leaking nips?? I had hope to start collecting. I have a Hakka pump do I just suction that thing on a boob and hope for the best? ( totally clueless haha)

unknownscot · 30/05/2022 14:24

@Letsbekindplease
I've been hand expressing for about 20'mins every other day from 36 weeks. From 36+5 I've upped it to every day and from 37 weeks I'll aim to do it two times a day.

X

unknownscot · 30/05/2022 14:24

@Letsbekindplease
Also, my nipples aren't leaking without expressing x

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 15:03

i have no idea if I’m collecting the right stuff for collustrum. Seems very thin and pale (but yellow) and I thought it’d be super thick and golden?

needarainbow · 30/05/2022 15:35

@mrkb @sunflower198 Good luck today ladies! So exciting that there'll be 2 more babies here by the end of the day!

@Katiebaby13 I know I'm really quite disappointed. She's still on hols this week as well apparently so I've got booked in for an appt on Thurs with a different midwife! Not ideal but at least I'll be able to discuss birth plan and ask for a Colostrum kit before I'm much further along. Never heard anything about hibiscus in pregnancy before!🤔

DaimDillyDoo · 30/05/2022 15:43

Good luck @mrkb and @sunflower198

@Vimto1991 That's what my collustrum is like... it's like sperm, sorry if that's TMI but I thought the same!!

Flowerbug1994 · 30/05/2022 15:49

Good luck to all having babies today and this week I’ve just spoke to the hospital and my section is booked for this Thursday 2nd. Feels like it’s getting real just need to get through these next 60 or so hours 😭😭😭

pregnancydiaries · 30/05/2022 16:17

I can't stop crying ladies 🙁 think it must be the pregnancy hormones but just needed to come on here to vent.

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and at the consultant clinic last week was told by the Registrar she promised to phone me by Friday last week to let me know if my section is happening at 38 or 39 weeks. I've not heard a thing and it's just upset me so much. I know that most people don't know when they are having their baby and he could come at any time but I'm finding it so stressful when I'm promised something and no one has phoned me. Even worse I have no way of contacting my consultant we've tried every number possible, triage etc but they can't deal with this 🙁

Sorry just had to vent and rant xxx

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 16:55

@pregnancydiaries aww lovely, I would be upset too, and you have every right to expect promises to be kept. This is both an exciting and anxious time and it’s normal to want to know what’s happening and when. Maybe contact your community midwife and ask if she can chase up as it’s not right xx

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 16:57

@Vimto1991 my colostrum is quite watery too. I put it down to being well hydrated as days when I’ve not drank as much it’s thicker. But it’s just as good. Colostrum varies in consistency and colour even in the same woman so honestly don’t worry about it 🙂

pregnancydiaries · 30/05/2022 16:58

Thank you @CurryandSnuggle means a lot to know I'm not just being silly ♥️♥️ that's exactly what we've just done. My DP actually phoned her and left a message as I was too upset (pathetic!!!!).

They've been toying with whether to do it at 38 or 38 since our 31 week appointment and that's been frustrating enough so when we pushed for an answer on Thursday to be promised an update and not receive one, it's just hard!!!!xxx

CurryandSnuggle · 30/05/2022 17:03

@pregnancydiaries if it makes you feel better, I had a similar break down when I was told I’d be booked in for a consultant call to discuss my VBAC and then the appointment never got booked in. I phoned so many different departments, kept getting sent from pillar to post and I ended up breaking down into tears about it to the poor receptionist who sorted it out for me lol. It’s just frustrating when you want to feel control over your own pregnancy and birth, as much as possible, and other people don’t realise the significance/importance of it to you.

pregnancydiaries · 30/05/2022 17:06

That definitely makes me feel better to know I am not alone in the frustration @CurryandSnuggle - thank you!!! You've hit the nail on the head, it's the need to want to have some control at a time when things are very much out of our control.

Hopefully midwife gets back to us and is able to get through to the consultant...not holding out too much hope mind you!xx

unknownscot · 30/05/2022 17:25

@pregnancydiaries
Oh you are definitely not alone.

I was due to see the consultant on Friday there to discuss getting booked in for either induction or section (my choice) and at 38 or 39 weeks.
I couldn't make Friday as had my best friends wedding so they organised me to be seen at daycare on Thursday to have the discussion.

No one at daycare knew why I was there. I burst out crying and they said they don't even have doctors there never mind consultants.

Lots of phone calls later the on call doctor from labour ward came to talk to me.

It felt so rushed. She didn't know my story or why I was wanting to go at 38 weeks. Having to explain the situation umpteen times is traumatic.

In the end I got booked in but because I pushed and refused to leave until I spoke to someone.

So you are DEFINITELY not alone.

You're scotland aren't you? Can you google your consultants nhs email address at all? Or phone switchboard and ask to be put through to them?
