Oh @unknownscot thank you thank you thank you for more reassurance that the tears and frustration are normal and even more, justified.

It is so frustrating when you have to speak to someone who doesn't know your situation. This is exactly what we went in with to our appointment on Thursday, and when the consultant wasn't there and the Registrar didn't know my situation or any of my health issues it was incredibly frustrating. Which is where the "I promise to speak to the consultant and promise to call you tomorrow" came from... She also scheduled another appointment for us this Thursday and my worry is they are thinking "we'll just catch up with her then" - not good enough!!

I really like my consultant and like to think this isn't her fault, rather the message just not getting put through to her.

Great idea re switchboard. Will give midwife until lunch tomorrow and then get on this. I feel like a child and almost scared to speak to anyone, how pathetic when you're a grown woman? 😂 xx

pregnancydiaries · 30/05/2022 17:37

@unknownscot DP is on the hunt for an email, fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Flowerbug1994 · 30/05/2022 17:51

@pregnancydiaries i have been promised a phone call since 20th May with my section date and I finally only got it today after me chasing them and it’s in 3 days ! What I have found is hospitals more than likely always have a c section co ordinator who arranges all elective sections if they have done your paper work for one they will have the info and it is them who are the only ones who can book it. Hope this helps. Also I have sobbed for over a week because I don’t know when it was going to be so your not alone it’s so frustrating I felt like calling saying how hard can it be to book a bloody operation they kept blaming mine on the bank holiday that they couldn’t get staff to work it

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 17:59

@Flowerbug1994 we May be birth buddies! :)

just went for my monitoring session, had one every day since Friday leading up to induction (except Wednesday for some reason), today was awful. FAU was full so I was sat in the antenatal clinic, no one wearing masks right, people coughing, waited an hour then got into FAU to wait there, woman behind me had a temperature and a cough, they questioned if she had covid and no one seemed phased she was sat in a room with heavily pregnant people next to her, like get that covid test down her throat and send her out!! She wasn’t wearing a mask either.

I have my covid swab tomorrow morning, DH has to swab on the morning of induction, so worried I’d have caught something today because of inconsiderate people!!

Flowerbug1994 · 30/05/2022 18:15

@Vimto1991 oh my god how stupid are people sitting coughing with no mask !!! Hopefully even if you did catch it it won’t show on a test by tomorrow takes a few days so you both should be ok for induction !! It starts to feel very real when your talking a couple of days doesn’t it.

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 18:19

@Flowerbug1994 I know! You used to have to prove a negative test to get into the clinic and they stopped doing it which is a shame. I don’t think I’d test positive by tomorrow morning but I’d worry about DH, or even just getting covid and passing it into a newborn baby 😔

Flowerbug1994 · 30/05/2022 18:23

@Vimto1991 i know and it’s also the thought of being sick with a newborn to look after am very lucky i have tonnes of help but I want to do it for my baby. Am getting anxious about the influx of visitors over bank holiday weekend as everyone is off work 😭😭

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 18:26

@Flowerbug1994 to see you with the baby or in hospital? My hospital doesn’t allow visitors just two birthing partners, and you don’t have to say yes to every visitor! We said give us a week and the MIL flipped. But it’s our decision and we will call her to come over when we are ready (and May ask people to test before they visit lol)

RoseValleyRambles · 30/05/2022 18:31

We are going early! Just seen the consultant at 36 weeks, and he's resolutely footling breech which can present a risk. She offered either going into hospital for monitoring until he comes (nope!), or moving our c up to 37/38 weeks. Just awaiting a date!

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 18:40

@RoseValleyRambles ooooh a date! How exciting. I don’t think anyone is going full term in June 😂 I feel like everyone is going to give birth the first two weeks!!

beansprout55 · 30/05/2022 19:21

Yay @RoseValleyRambles! So exciting, hope they let you know the date really soon so you can begin the countdown!x

@Vimto1991 you're right! Is anyone planning a vaginal birth without early induction? I can't be the only one, surely!

We have prayed from the start that he'll come a week or two early. If they offered me sweeps from 37 weeks I'd take them 😂

Clomid1 · 30/05/2022 19:32

hey everyone haven’t been on here a while. I’ve had a very eventful weekend. Labour pains started on Saturday evening at exactly 37 weeks. They started getting close together every 6 minutes but 30 seconds. Called triage and was told to wait it out until its every 3 minutes and 1 minute long contractions. They slowly died down in the early hours of sunday morning. I then managed to get some sleep with contractions coming and going every hour. Managed to catch up on some sleep but not massively. Then contractions started again sunday night early hours of monday morning. Told my manager i can’t work and tried to get some sleep but pains were too intense. Frequency and intensity of pain is very varied. Not getting to the every 3 minutes and 1 minute long duration as they said. I asked if I can come in to get other pain killers and they refused told me to just stay at home. The pain became unbearable. I was screaming through each contraction. I called triage again and said I can’t cope with the pain they said its early labour if I go in they won’t be able to do anything but check how far I am dilated and then send me on my way. Told me its best to stay at home. They said as long as baby is moving, no bleeding and water hasn’t broken to try and continue as normal. I can’t even walk?! Yet they said to get labour to progress I need to be on my feet. I am on day 2 of no sleep now. A friend recommended a tens machine. Husbands just got me one. It doesn’t take away the pain but i am coping.

hoping once i get to hospital they’ll give me an epidural. I can’t really cope very well at the moment. I am 37 + 2 today.

Vimto1991 · 30/05/2022 20:00

@Clomid1 is it worth popping in to see if you are dilating anyway? Seems so odd to not want to help at all! Can you take a nice warm bath? Get a massage from your DH? Hopefully you get to the 3 minute mark soon and baby will be here! How exciting! (Minus the pain you are in :( )

pansytub · 30/05/2022 20:03

@beansprout55 I'm in the waiting until baby is good and ready came for my hopefully home vaginal birth...did broach the topic of a sweep at 40 weeks at todays 38 week appointment though - the idea of being pregnant another 4 weeks doesn't feel appealing lol. Anyone else out there sitting and waiting?

beansprout55 · 30/05/2022 20:10

A few of you were talking about hiccups the other day - online advice is so conflicting and American, urgh. My boy seems to hiccup like 3 times a day on average - lasting about 10/15 mins sometimes - is this normal? I'm 36+1.

@Clomid1 oh my goodness you poor love. I'm with Vimto on this, considering your level of pain I'm surprised they haven't wanted to just check you out at the very least. Day 2 now as well. Really hoping and praying not too much longer for you. xx Gosh, were you expecting an early arrival? Are you ready? I haven't even bought the stuff to go in my hospital bag yet 😳 xx

RoseValleyRambles · 30/05/2022 20:22

Thanks folks! Both excited and a bit nervous - has put our nicely planned DIY schedule on hold!

@clomid1 That sounds pretty awful. I hope you get some progress soon, but would totally also just turn up if the pain gets too bad. Have they told you if you can take anything stronger while you're at home?

ChildOfFriday · 30/05/2022 20:28

@Clomid1 Hope it soon progresses and you have your baby in your arms! It sounds awful that they won't do anything for you Flowers

@beansprout55 I'm another one hoping for a vaginal delivery without induction, fingers crossed! I'm 38 weeks today and so signs yet apart from some mild cramping occasionally and needing the toilet more. Not sure whether to take the sweep at 40 weeks or not if I get that far.

Octoblockisadick · 30/05/2022 20:38

@CurryandSnuggle it's such a hard decision isn't it.

No leaking nips here @Letsbekindplease lol, I'm hand expressing. Mine also varies in colour / thickness like a couple of others have said.

Oh that's exciting @Flowerbug1994 not long at all!! Exciting that you will get a date soon too @RoseValleyRambles! And I hope you hear soon @pregnancydiaries , its not fair of them to promise to call you and not do so.

Hopefully it isn't covid @Vimto1991 and whatever it is isn't passed on to you! Last thing you need is to be poorly for labour.

@beansprout55 if it wasn't for the expected size I would be just waiting to see when baby comes. I was just thinking of induction at around 40+10 if nothing by then. Now that they think he's a giant I've reconsidered though (but I'm still not fully convinced with my decision tbh).

Oh @Clomid1 I hope either things progress or you get a better night's sleep tonight! It might be worth going in and getting checked anyway, my midwife said not everybody gets to the 3 in 10 thing, some people's contractions are irregular until delivery.

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 30/05/2022 20:41

@beansprout55 also awaiting a spontaneous vaginal birth. Due on 10th but judging by my past deliveries I’m not expecting him any earlier than the 20th. I was beginning to think I was going to be the only one here still pregnant. So many babies will be arriving this week.
@Clomid1 that sounds really unpleasant. You have my total sympathy as early labour can be just as painful as later stages in my experience. Unbelievable that they won’t see you and help you at this point. Really hope things progress quickly for you and that baby makes an appearance.

Clomid1 · 30/05/2022 20:45

@Vimto1991 I asked and they said if I didn’t meet that criteria there is no chance I’ve dilated enough especially with a first pregnancy 😭.

at the moment I don’t even like being touched. He tried to rub my back and i just asked him to not. In too much pain to sit in the bath. Had a longish warm shower. Contractions in between it was horrid but it reduced the frequency of contractions to half an hour which bought me sometime to sleep until I woke up screaming.

@beansprout55 wasn’t expecting an early arrival but due to the whole small baby issue I did have all hospital bags packed in case of an emergency c section earlier in the term.

@RoseValleyRambles I asked if they would and she said I could take dihydrocodeine. I said can I get that over the counter and she said no. I then asked if I can come and get a prescription for it and she said you’ve taken too much paracetemol so I can’t give it to you. So I said I’ll come tomorrow to get it and she still said no? I don’t know why they are so reluctant to give me anything?

Right now just strapped up to the tens machine to help me cope but once my body gets used to that I doubt I’ll be able to cope any more.

I really hope baby arrives soon. I can’t take this much longer.

Clomid1 · 30/05/2022 20:51

@ChildOfFriday thanks hun. Yh I am not sure why they are so reluctant to just check how far I am and give me some alternative pain killers

@Octoblockisadick this is my fear too what If i am progressing and its just irregular I mean I’ve had contractions since 10pm on Saturday night I can’t possibly have not dilated at all can I? But they are so sure I haven’t. She said if the frequency of contractions are changing then you’re definitely in early labour and not in active labour yet.

@Whatcanmyusernamebe thanks hun. Really hope she makes an appearance. I can’t handle this for much longer.

Rolledthedice · 30/05/2022 20:51

@beansprout55 and @pansytub I’m also waiting for baby to arrive in their own time. My plan A is still a vaginal home birth and I really don’t want any VEs or poking if possible.

My MW said the hiccups are very normal and it’s a sign of baby’s lungs developing so try not to worry. Mine has them a couple of times a day for 10-15mins too.

@ChildOfFriday I just remembered we are due date twins! 😊 Also 38 weeks today.

@Clomid1 I really hope you are well on your way now and that you get some pain relief! That sounds really exhausting!

Letsbekindplease · 30/05/2022 20:53

@Clomid1 I don’t understand why they are being like that? I would just go in, get checked and ask for pain relief.
with my first I was in agony. Went in, got checked and was 1cm dilated (lol) they gave me codeine to take away and I came back in the following afternoon when I was then admitted. You shouldn’t have to put up with being in pain. Hope it’s not much longer for you. 💐

Clomid1 · 30/05/2022 20:53

@Rolledthedice Until I get to that 4cm dilated I don’t think they are going to give me anything.

i have a scan tomorrow I have no idea how I am going to sit through it.

Clomid1 · 30/05/2022 20:56

@Letsbekindplease for anyone who is not having their first child I think you are completely amazing. This is bloody painful I don’t know if I could ever bring myself to do this again.

did codeine help? Paracetemol did nothing whatsoever for me. It was a joke I don’t even know why I am taking it every 4 hours.
