@Vimto1991 good luck for your induction. I think if you just go in with an open mind knowing that it may take a few days but it will all be worth the wait.

I am FTM and my induction was at 37 weeks exactly I had all 3 pessary, a sweep and then had my waters broken before the drip. I went in on the Saturday at 4pm and was home with baby on the Monday at 3pm. I knew it wouldn’t be quick but every minute was worth it.

hows everyone with babies already here getting on?

a wee updated pic of Louie who is now 12 days old.

@Starbeach am having an elective section due to breech baby. What’s the difference between a gentle section and normal section ?

Starbeach · 28/05/2022 12:03

@Yecats22 congrats he's gorgeous 😍

@Flowerbug1994 basically they make the same cut but the baby wriggles it's own way out rather than them pulling the baby out. YouTube it x

Roxystar23 · 28/05/2022 12:13

@pregnancydiaries - My baby has hiccups around 4 times a day. Seems to then start wiggling the bum in frustration as they last a long time too.

Thank you to whoever said holding your belly when trying to pee - I’ve managed to have less pointless wees since trying this so thank you!!! The temporary relief is so satisfying!!!

EarlGreywithLemon · 28/05/2022 13:45

@Vimto1991 to give you the other side of the coin, my first pessary worked and I was in labour 6 hours later. Same with another friend (both first time mothers, albeit both at 41 weeks). Her hospital kept her in after the pessary, mine monitored us on the CTG for an hour and then sent me home. I think I would have preferred to be kept in though! That was at mid day on Saturday, by 6pm I was having contractions and by 4am I was back in hospital. Baby was born at 19.29 on Sunday. So it can happen quickly too!

Prema112 · 28/05/2022 14:45

@Yecats22 Yasssss I knew there was a baby Louie, he's so gorgeous! And I love his name. Why did you have an induction if you don't mind me asking?

@Vimto1991 It's so exciting you get to meet your little one soon!! Sounds like there's going to be lots of babies born next week! And @Flowerbug1994 too, not long for you!!

@pregnancydiaries My babe still has lots of hiccups!

@Roxystar23 Oh yes I need to try holding my belly, desperate for anything that will help with weeing! I have to wee almost every time I have braxton hicks and I get them a lot

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 15:06

@Yecats22 thank you for your advice! It doesn’t sound like it went absolutely terrible? And Louie is so adorable and worth it! Can’t wait until I can meet my naughty baby. 😂

@EarlGreywithLemon oh wow that’s quick!! I have a feeling I’ll be escalated up to drip 🙈 both via baby being stubborn and my cervix being stubborn! I guess they gave you a bit of time at home to allow oxytocin to do some part in it! I’m just going to have to make my cubicle as calm as can be haha

@Prema112 i know it’s mad! I’m really hoping this time next week I’ll have a baby in my arms. I am 10000% done being pregnant now!!

just went to the fetal assessment unit for monitoring again cause of crazy baby movements last night and movements feeling different this morning, took awhile to pass ctg and had to move onto my side but still passed. When I asked the midwife is it that the position has changed, she said she would be unsure, but maybe, but always best to come in with movement changes, but the ctg is healthy and happy! The unknown of that is why I am now booked in every day until Tuesday. 🤦‍♀️ Then a rest Wednesday and back in Thursday for induction! But atleast I get reassurance every day until then that baby is still doing okay in there, despite being aloof or erratic lol - costing me a fortune in diesel and parking charges but worth it to know they’re okay, and once they’re here hopefully I never need to go back, cause I think this will be my only child 😂

i feel like I’m the only one here with a wild child!!

DaimDillyDoo · 28/05/2022 15:59

Clary sage did nothing last night and I keep getting told how "high" my bump still is. Does a bump always have to "drop" to be ready for labour?

Hope everyone is well

slowrunningteacher · 28/05/2022 16:09

Boots have had my prescription for Clexane for a week. I went in on Tuesday and their computer system was down (I went in twice!). I sent my Mum yesterday as I'm now self isolating as recommended and they still didn't have it. Hubby has gone this afternoon. I'll be fuming if it's not there 😬. He'll be nicer about it not being there than I would, but fingers crossed that it is. My C-section is on Tuesday!

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 17:09

@DaimDillyDoo mine still feels as high, too. I think it can drop in labour or hours before, doesn’t have to be ages before. Same for mucus plug and waters. I’m holding onto that hope cause I haven’t dropped, no plug leak or waters gone yet. 😵‍💫 cervix is very much closed, too. I wish I had some natural progress…
my hair smells nice after my clary sage conditioner, though, lol!!

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 17:11

@slowrunningteacher fingers crossed they have it, remember to give your ID to your DH in case they refuse to hand it over. I use an online company (Wells) that send out via Royal Mail - great in advance, but makes a pain if I need anything fast.
if they don’t have it in as long as it’s not the hospital pharmacy prescription you can collect from another pharmacy with it in stock. Not sure how many would carry clexane, though. Do you have to inject yourself after your c section?

EarlGreywithLemon · 28/05/2022 17:26

@Vimto1991 my cervix was high and closed too when the pessary went in, so there is hope!

I’m not sure how much oxytocin I got at home - like you, I was very worried about movement so I breathed the biggest sigh of relief when I was back in hospital and being monitored. If I could have made them keep me in after the pessary, I would have done.

Hopefully it’ll be reassuring to know they are keeping an eye on you with the CTGs next week!

slowrunningteacher · 28/05/2022 17:36

@Vimto1991 They have partially dispensed the prescription, so I can't take it elsewhere. I wasn't expecting them to have it in stock, but a week is a long time. I have to inject myself after my C-section for 10 days. Well, i got hubby to inject me last time. I told him that I'd been through enough already. I hate injections 😪

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 18:21

@EarlGreywithLemon oooh that’s fantastic to hear! Fingers crossed it takes just one pessary then 😂 I’m a light sleeper so can’t imagine I’d get a lot of sleep if I’m in longer than a day! It is reassuring, my anxiety is so heightened from a week of mixed movements. The previous two weeks were a breeze, thought I was plain sailing until 40 weeks 🙈 how wrong was I! When they’re moving too quick I think they are distressed, too little distressed, and there’s no middle ground. 🤦‍♀️

@slowrunningteacher ahh that sucks! Can’t they just give you what they have for now to tie you over! I would have thought hospital would have given you some to take home, too! 🤯 hopefully be sorted before your c section! 🙂 you have my sympathy with clexane, my dad had community nurses inject him for about a month when he had clots and it didn’t look pleasant. ☹️ I’m used to jabs/bloods these days, definitley built up a resistance haha

MrsTwentyNine · 28/05/2022 18:52

Thank you @Octoblockisadick ! Every day is just a waiting game now for me even though I'm only 37+3...
10 days to go till induction!

Prema112 · 28/05/2022 19:01

@slowrunningteacher I've just realised that's what they gave me when I had covid to stop blood clots and I agree it is horrible 🙁 I'm sorry you have to take it, hopefully seeing your baby will take away some of the pain!

I'm off to have a clary sage and peppermint bath and fully expecting to be in labour as soon as I've finished 😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 28/05/2022 20:16

@Vimto1991 good luck! Take headphones and some good music/podcasts!

Yecats22 · 28/05/2022 21:53

@Prema112 Thank you l. I was induced because of a mixture of things reduced movement, growth of Louie had slowed and I was already high risk so they thought it was safer.

@Vimto1991 no it wasn’t bad at all I was actually only in labour 7 hours and went from 6cm to Louie being born in less than half hour they have it at 9mins in my notes. Most of the time was waiting about. I was so worried about it because of horror stories I had heard and with me being induced quite early I had him almost 2 weeks ago and I think back only positively on it already.

Octoblockisadick · 28/05/2022 22:28

@Prema112 I've got clary sage and peppermint in my diffuser again. At least it smells nice if nothing else haha.

I'm starting to reconsider induction if labour doesnt start in the next week or so. I've been quite against it from the start, but now I'm starting to think it might help me to avoid another section. Plus I really badly want to try to deliver vaginally, even if I do end up with a section. I feel like a part of me would rather try and have an emergency section rather than not trying, but another part of me thinks why risk the stress and risks of an emergency section when I can go straight to elective. Argh I wish I just knew what to do!

MrsNT · 28/05/2022 22:32

@yecats22 congrats!! Such a cute baby..bless

Prema112 · 28/05/2022 22:44

@Octoblockisadick I'm feeling quite conflicted too, it's so hard to know what to do isn't it. Really hope you can have your natural birth. Yes the combo of peppermint and CS is pretty nice!

DaimDillyDoo · 29/05/2022 11:35

How did everyone get on overnight? I keep checking the thread to see if anymore babies have arrived!

It's my due date today... no twinges, pains, nothing... 😂

Octoblockisadick · 29/05/2022 11:58

@DaimDillyDoo no changes for me overnight ☹️. Unless you count finding nits in my daughters hair ugh. So had to sort those last night which wasn't fun. She doesn't sit still and my belly gets in the way of moving around her.

Prema112 · 29/05/2022 12:22

I had an eventful evening but didn't end in an outside baby sadly. We thought we'd try sex, and then I got this excruciating sudden headache and baby started going a bit mad. Headache didn't subside, baby was still frantic an hour later so I went to triage at half midnight. DH couldn't come as had to look after our son which was a bit sad, I was quite stressed. On the monitor his hr was pretty wild but he did calm down over the course of the monitoring.

The dr said they aren't that worried about increased movements and it's only really if baby has sudden fairly short frantic movement followed by stillness that they worry, like you would move frantically if someone was strangling you then go still, which I didn't know but makes sense. Got home at 3am, luckily have just been able to sleep this morning. So tired of these worries, induction is becoming more tempting...

Prema112 · 29/05/2022 12:23

Happy due date @DaimDillyDoo! You made it!
