Went into triage just bugged by the fact baby has been quiet this week and hard to feel any movements, passed ctg so fast but midwife has referred me to a doctor in regards to my movement concerns, and thinks they’ll offer me an induction this weekend so may be getting a May baby. 😬
honestly, if baby had a steady pattern and I didn’t suffer with anxiety and depression, and my thyroid issue, id probably decline, but I think I may take them up on that offer as I’m so exhausted from movement anxiety. 😩 I just don’t know if there’s any negative impact from giving birth at 38 (around +4) by then. That’s what’s worrying me.

PlodandPod · 27/05/2022 22:05

@DaimDillyDoo @Octoblockisadick You've led @Brightsmoke and I down the rabbit hole of Clary Sage oil 😂 Getting to the point where we're willing to try anything!

beansprout55 · 27/05/2022 22:28

@Vimto1991 they'll explain all the pros and cons I'm sure! Make sure you have all your questions ready though. Your mental health is so so important for you and baby. If I had the on going concerns like you regarding movements i'm sure I'd do the same. It's different if it's like a one off or has only happened a couple of times. What does your partner think?xx

Prema112 · 27/05/2022 22:44

Also just bought Clary Sage!!

@CurryandSnuggle Aw that must feel strange without DS but great he's away with grandparents so you don't need to worry about getting him to someone. Exciting you have a sweep Tuesday! I wonder if midwife will offer me one Wednesday at 40 week appointment...

My mum is here tonight so this would be a great time to come baby!

@Vimto1991 So sorry you're back in for reduced movement. Hope you get all the info you need to decide about an induction xx

Prema112 · 27/05/2022 22:45

@DaimDillyDoo Oh no! I did the same a few weeks ago 🙈

Vimto1991 · 27/05/2022 23:17

Well they gave me a sweep but my cervix is closed 🙈 and I’m booked in for next Thursday where I will be 39+1 which isn’t too far off my original induction date as not allowed to go over 40 weeks. They’ve told me any further concerns for movement I still go in and get a Ctg but for now baby is doing okay in there they just can’t explain baby’s erractic movements. 😔 I wanted two kids but I’m not sure I can handle pregnancy again!

@beansprout55 hes very supportive, he’s ready for the baby and said he can see how much of a toll this is on me mentally - he’s really laid back though and always thinks the baby is okay (I mean they have been every time but still!!) so he’s fine with next Thursday potentially being a dad!

@Prema112 the doctor was quite busy so I only saw the midwife who explained the timings of the pessary and that I’ll be called the morning of my induction, but never went into the risks. Although having it at 39+1 puts my mind at ease as I would have been induced at around 39+6 anyway!

Basically six days to go… 😬😬 one super positive thing is that if I test positive for covid my DH can still be in the delivery room (and they don’t test partners for some reason), which means he will always be there to see baby born thank god.

Vimto1991 · 27/05/2022 23:18

Also Lush do a few items with clary sage in like the American Cream range. I have the conditioner so I’m gonna try that tomorrow lol

Octoblockisadick · 27/05/2022 23:23

Haha @DaimDillyDoo I did the same, put some clary sage in the bath and shaved. I say shaved, I think I got everything but god knows haha! I can't actually see to check 🤣

@CurryandSnuggle I've got a sweep Tuesday, my parents will be collecting my daughter for half term just before the appointment. They're having her until the Monday afterward all being well, it feels quite odd tbh.

@Vimto1991 plenty of babies are born at or before 38 weeks, so I wouldn't worry too much if you feel it's the right choice for you. My daughter was a section at 38+3 (I think 😳, that or 38+4), she's now 4 and no issues at all.

I was kind of hoping baby would come today, because my birthday is 27th March and my daughters 27th April, so I thought a 27th May would fit the pattern nicely haha! Unless something major changes very quickly it isn't going to happen though ☹️.

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 00:08

@Octoblockisadick true! My friend just had hers at 38 (she had GD) and all is well, a healthy four week old now. :)

anyone had a sweep before? Is it normal for baby to go crazy after? Honestly going to tire me out so much if I need to drive back another 45 minutes but baby had not stopped moving. ☹️

unknownscot · 28/05/2022 07:29

Ah ladies, wedding number four last night. Survived until 11:45pm then left. Thought doing proud Mary might put me into labour but nothing 😂😂😂

I'm booked in for induction at 38 weeks on the dot. Hoping I go into labour before then... I know, the complete opposite of most people who want to go naturally and don't mind going to 41 weeks etc... but the anxiety of stillbirth is playing havoc on my mental health! ❤️

Letsbekindplease · 28/05/2022 07:35

@Vimto1991 did movements calm in the end? I nearly went in last night. I was so stressed as after I posted that baby was moving, I had nothing substantial for hours!!! Drank a big water, put my phone away and lay on my right side. She moved so much. I cried. Convinced myself something wasn’t right. So you’re quite right to go in and check. Glad everything was ok though. How was the sweep?

@Octoblockisadick haha. I showered last night as every shower/shave could be the last (not going in with a bush this time as I was mortified last time). I couldn’t see a thing! Prayed I wasn’t going to cut myself. I’m like a patchwork quilt lol.

MrsTwentyNine · 28/05/2022 08:28

@unknownscot I'm the same! I'm looking forward to being induced at 39 and hoping baby comes even before then. The anxiety of going overdue, checking for movement etc for me is too much! I'd rather have him in my arms sooner!!

Has anyone felt like the baby is now definitely engaged ?! I'm 37+3 and last night I had the strangest movement where I felt a downward wriggling and I was trying to understand whether that was him shifting further down into my pelvis! And since last night my peeing number has tripled...and heartburn has improved...co incidence ?! Confused

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 09:11

@Letsbekindplease they did slow down after about an hour or so, I read other people were the same where baby is super active after a sweep (failed or not). Sweep was super uncomfortable and a bit painful, not going to lie, I was gutted when she said my cervix was closed so couldn’t actually sweep.
baby’s movements are now feeling much larger so think they have changed position since yesterday after all that wriggling. Really hope they are still in a good position to give birth. 😬
how are your movements today?

Prema112 · 28/05/2022 09:24

@MrsTwentyNine Sounds like baby has engaged! I noticed the same thing, used to have a tummy ache every time I ate because baby was squashing my tummy, now all fine but the peeing is ridiculous, I was literally up every hour last night for tiny pointless wees but I couldn't not go

Starbeach · 28/05/2022 09:37

How are you all ladies? Im 37+1 today and Baby is still breech so looking like a c section.

However if you ladies want to a laugh, (I really wish I could upload the video) my midwife has recommended moxibustion where you burn some Chinese herbal sticks near your little toes in an attempt to turn the baby, rather than the manual turning. How I'm not in a&e with burnt toes I'll never know he starts laughing and doesn't realise he's moving it closer and closer to my poor toes 😂

I don't mind having a c section if i have too, what I do mind is the fragmin (blood thinner) injections after though. I've had them before and stopped taking them they were soo painful (not everyone suffers with pain from fragmin dont panic) I just couldn't tolerate my reaction to them anymore, but apparently there is no alternative for after you've given birth. I told the gp and my consultant who I worked with at the time so I could say what I wanted too that the only reason I didn't get blood clots is because you roll round in agony of a hour after 😂.

Anyone else with an awkward breech baby? Xx

Flowerbug1994 · 28/05/2022 09:46

@Starbeach am 38+1 with breech baby having a section by Thursday waiting on a call for what day as my hospital is struggling for staff on bank holiday. Had pre op yesterday so ready to go at any time. The nerves sure do kick in once that while operation is explained in pre op 😭😭😭xxxx

Ah wow! That makes sense! I wish we had some sort of permanent ultrasound situation where we could look in haha. And yess pointless wees! Definitely the name of this trimester 😂

pregnancydiaries · 28/05/2022 10:23

Hello ladies, is anyones baby getting hiccups multiple times a day? I know that it's normal for them to hiccup but this has literally been maybe 4/5 times on the last 24 hours...xx

@Starbeach I saw this on the Yorkshire midwives show I was watching a few weeks ago - it worked!!!zx

fpeg · 28/05/2022 10:37

@Vimto1991 just with you saying about your mental health, when I was going to be having an induction the midwife went through it at length with me and explained it can be a process that occurs over days, so just wanted to warn you in case you weren't prepared for that. Sometimes it all happens in the same day, but sometimes you need repeated pessaries and 24 hour break before doing it again, then new room in the labour ward for you, so can take up to 3-5 days for whole process to complete. If she hadn't told me I wouldn't have been prepared for that, but the up side is that you are there in the hospital and plenty of people around to monitor baby over the course of that time. I just wanted to prepare you in case you didn't know and were fixed on baby arriving on Thursday as I know that would have really messed with Me if I wasn't expecting it. Apologies if you know this already xxx

My little one was born 37+3 and no problems at all, just for another positive 38 week outcome x

fpeg · 28/05/2022 10:41

@pregnancydiaries my LO has hiccups 4-5 times a day yes and she still does not that she's born 😂 midwives say totally normal x

EarlGreywithLemon · 28/05/2022 10:41

@Starbeach if it’s any consolation, I had six weeks’ worth of Clexane injections to do after my vaginal birth. So it doesn’t just happen after C sections! I hear you though - I’m not sure how Clexane compares with Fragmin, but they’re not a lot of fun!!

pregnancydiaries · 28/05/2022 10:48

Fab thanks @fpeg that's the reassurance I needed! So cute she's still doing it now she's here 💗 my OH has convinced me it's because wee one is greedy and drinking too quickly 😂 maybe this also means mine is going to come at 37weeks...is it bad I hope so? I'm getting so impatient just want to meet him xx

Vimto1991 · 28/05/2022 10:51

@fpeg that’s the one part of induction she did explain to me! Which I’m thankful for cause now I know to take pillows and ear plugs, and DH is making a plan to come home in intervals as the cats will need feeding (although I’m terrified he will miss the birth doing that). Before she explained I thought I’d be allowed to go home but it’s reassuring they do monitor you both. Will take some pressure off. She did say FTM normally first pessary doesn’t work so guess I’ll prepare for my stay. I don’t mind, atleast I have an idea in my head as to when the baby is here! As, once again, since the failed sweep - movements have completely changed. 🤦‍♀️ It’s so worrying not knowing if baby is ill or just awkward, and I’m the only one that can make the call to go in!

Octoblockisadick · 28/05/2022 11:17

Well no 27th baby for me haha. Got my clary sage on again and I'm definitely crampy so here's hoping!
I thought I was a lot bigger this pregnancy, but I've taken a 38w bump picture and I'm actually not - pink top is my daughter at 38w, grey top this baby.

@unknownscot I fully understand your reasoning, and if it's right for you what other people do or would do is completely irrelevant. I'm hoping the induction process is nice and fast for you ❤.

@MrsTwentyNine that does sound positive! I noticed more peeing and less heartburn and my midwife said baby was engaged, so I definitely think it's a thing.

@Starbeach if you have an elective section you dont actually need the fragmin unless you have any other risk factors as per the rcog guidelines. I was given it last time based on elective section and bmi 30, but I knew they had measured my height wrong so my bmi was less than 30 so didn't actually use them haha 😳. They had put I was 5 foot 2 and bmi 30.1, but I'm 5 foot 4 so knew my bmi would be OK.

Starbeach · 28/05/2022 11:25

@Octoblockisadick I'm so glad it's not just me worried about a hairy downstairs 😂😂 I'd have it waxed but worried it will bring labour on or my water will just break on the table 🙈

@Vimto1991 decaf coffee sets my baby off if she's not moved.

@pregnancydiaries ooh did it?? me and my OH are like how the hell is this going to work but I will try everything it stinks mind luckily the way my house is situated the neighbours can't smell it. They'd probably think we've taken up smoking wacky baccy otherwise.

@Flowerbug1994 I used to work as a theatre nurse so I've seen c sections from the otherside and you'll be fine are you having a gentle c section or normal?

@EarlGreywithLemon i feel for you id never last 6 weeks! they are both similar I just wish they would prescribe something anything in tablet form instead.
