@Octoblockisadick Yeah I'm sure you're right, so weird that I could be having the baby today... I'd like to wait for baby to be born when he's ready, I have a feeling they will be keen to induce if I go over 40 weeks though. Im happy to have increased monitoring and carry on without intervention.

Happy last day- woohoo!!!

Vimto1991 · 20/05/2022 09:27

@Prema112 good to hear your baby is doing okay!! Mine was also quiet last night, I was getting movements still, just subdued so not as strong! I didn’t end up going in and baby seems to have all their energy back this morning. 🙈 crazy how they just offered you an induction on the spot. Part of me wonders if they do it to cut the number of people needing a Ctg down if they can just get the problematic baby out instead!

laurenGame · 20/05/2022 10:13

@Prema112 how stressful!

I think it could be because one of the main reasons for stillbirth is cord twisting and the drs don't know if the cord was being twisted. Since you are full term in their eyes is is fine to have the baby now.

Crazy to think you could have had the bub today 🙈😁

I also went in recently for reduced movement, baby was fine but they pressed Doppler so hard on my stomach for 40 mins. And did internal exam so I was not a happy bunny and neither was the baby- started kicking like crazy.
Glad to hear your baby is good:)

jealous of people finishing up for work already, I've got two weeks to go whoohoo.

In other news I read about the perineal massage in detail and just don't think I could do it 😆 I feel so squeamish about stretching everything in there so much (yes I know I'm in for a big stretch soon).

Im also getting an iron infusion next week which I'm kind of excited about- I'll hopefully shift my fatigue. Did anyone else have one?

annie1994 · 20/05/2022 10:22

@Clomid1 I had 3 sweeps for my first son and I did find the first one painful but I was so tense and uptight. So try and relax as much as possible (I know a lot easier said than done!) The next two sweeps I barely felt anything 😂 I recommend wearing a pad/ pantyliner as they can make you bleed a little afterwards

Prema112 · 20/05/2022 10:32

@laurenGame & @Vimto1991 Thanks for your replies ladies. It's a weird one as baby seems fine now, kicking away, but I know I should go in for the daily monitoring. It's pouring with rain and I want to stay in bed! Cord twisting sounds scary though @laurenGame, hope I get the scan today so they can check

Vimto1991 · 20/05/2022 10:38

@Prema112 I don’t think it’s a common cause of quietness. The consultant I spoke to who delivers babies day in day out said it can be position, it can be your own pattern changing, it can even be what you’ve eaten in the evening! Babies can also just have a quiet moment and a busy one the next just like you and me. It was really nice to hear that from a professional, as I was concerned about cord compression but baby didn’t have the cord around their neck or anything on my scan, so the doctor put the reduced/increased down to all of the above haha. Just a little reassurance for you. :)

unknownscot · 20/05/2022 11:53

@Octoblockisadick it's my last day too!! Woo.

ChildOfFriday · 20/05/2022 12:07

@unknownscot @Octoblockisadick It's also my last day at work! Looking forward to having more time to focus on the baby as it still feels like there is a lot to sort out before we're ready for him!

Prema112 · 20/05/2022 12:11

@Vimto1991 Thanks that's reassuring. So many reasons for quietness no wonder we're all in and out for reduced movements! Scan on Monday so need to go in for monitoring next 3 days.

Congrats to everyone finishing work today! 🎉

DaimDillyDoo · 20/05/2022 12:59

Also my last day at work today too! It feels really weird... I never thought I'd be getting the opportunity to go on maternity leave... Congrats everyone!

I had my midwife appointment yesterday, she's offered a sweep which I'll accept if baby isn't here by 1st of June. I would like to decline induction but I may be very impatient and agitated by then 🫣

My diarrhoea cramps turned into... diarrhoea not labour 😂 so I got my hopes up!

Prema112 · 20/05/2022 13:29

Lol, for anyone who's had trouble conceiving, does this labour symptom spotting remind you of the 2 week wait and analysing every symptom?? I've had no real signs of labour but I still keep wondering it that cramp or this backache is the beginning! Nice to know that unlike the 2WW all this waiting WILL end in a baby!

InvisibleDragon · 20/05/2022 13:47

Two more weeks of work for me too. Big deadline on Thursday and I am so tired I've been procrastinating all morning and will need to work on it at the weekend. FFS.

DaimDillyDoo · 20/05/2022 14:21

@Prema112 Yes!!! The Google search history "is X a sign of conception" and now "is X a sign of labour" Blush

unknownscot · 20/05/2022 14:37

@Prema112 yup ivf has got me paranoid about absolutely everything. That plus two of my friends having stillbirths.
I'm terrified and just want this baby here in my arms!

Vimto1991 · 20/05/2022 16:15

@Prema112 I’ve gone back to checking when I wipe incase there is a bloody show. 30 weeks ago this was me worried for blood incase of MC!!

pregnancydiaries · 20/05/2022 16:48

@Prema112 you couldn't of said this better, so proud of us all xx

beansprout55 · 20/05/2022 17:04

Oh my goodness @Prema112! Glad CTG was Ok. I would have made the same decision as you and not accepted the induction, you can always change your mind if the reduced movements become a regular thing or play on your mind. You're so close! How exciting!x
We had fertility treatments too as had trouble conceiving - I can totally relate to the symptom spotting! It was part of my life for so so long 😂

Thanks to everyone who commented after my mini melt down the other evening. I was so so overwhelmed but now all is well and DH apologised, made me a cake and seems to understand. All of your comments made me feel so so much better, knowing you all understand made me not feel alone... Love this group, wish I could meet you all in person!
I'm actually working up until my due date (stupid I know!) but finances are tight, so prayer for strength will be appreciated!x

@unknownscot - that's so so sad about your friends, and I'd be just as terrified as you. Heartbreaking. Dare I ask do you know the cause of why that happened? If there are potential signs/symptoms to watch out for...
This spotting i'm having is getting to me so much I am coming close to wanting a section or induction at 37 weeks, even though my heart was set on a natural birth. My thoughts are irrational of course, but when you see blood on a tissue when you're not even close to your due date it just does something to you! 😣
35 weeks on Sunday though, so getting there!!

Prema112 · 20/05/2022 17:27

@Vimto1991 @DaimDillyDoo Exactly!
Aw @beansprout55 so sorry you're having spotting again, I can imagine that's super stressful. What have they said about going in again with it? Just if it changes?

@unknownscot So so sorry for your friends, unimaginable.

Went for my 2nd CTG, all fine was on for an hour!

unknownscot · 20/05/2022 17:44

@beansprout55 @Prema112

Thank you 🤍

No, no signs at all. One at 20 weeks and the other 36.
Sorry if this is upsetting for everyone/anyone.
It's the reason why my induction has been brought forward to 38 weeks instead of 39, I'm just too anxious.

EarlGreywithLemon · 20/05/2022 18:18

Also the last day before mat leave for me. I am happy to have a break from the actual work, but will miss my immediate team of 5. They’re all lovely and we’re very close, even though we’re spread across two continents and I’ve only spoken to some of them over Zoom! I’ll keep in touch with them on WhatsApp though; we do that outside of work already anyway.

I also had my first CTG of the pregnancy this week. I went for the 36 week midwife appointment on Wednesday, and she thought there were some decelerations in the baby’s heart beat on the Doppler. So off I was sent to Maternity Assesment for monitoring. Luckily all was well on the monitor, and it was very quiet so I was seen straight away. The midwife did say it’s always quieter in good weather! 😊I also had bloods done for my liver, because I now have a lovely rash on my bump. All clear too, so I wonder if it was just heat rash. Or PUPPP?

Interestingly though for those with breech babies, both midwives were certain he was breech on Wednesday. Well, I had my scan on Thursday and he’s not any more. He’s moved head down sometime in the last 3 weeks, albeit he’s looking sideways. I have no idea when he turned- I felt nothing unusual at all!

Rolledthedice · 20/05/2022 18:40

Also joining the last day of work club! 😊 So glad I moved it forward to finish earlier. We have a car seat and a crib but that’s about it. So next week I’ll sort out the rest of the basics and should probably pack a bag as I’m 37 weeks on Monday.

@beansprout55 in sorry you’re having to work right up until due date - I can’t even imagine how tiring is.,But you’ve got this; you are so close now! Keep powering through!

pregnancydiaries · 20/05/2022 19:31

Theres something about your strength through all the bleeding scares and ability to work right up until your due date that tells me you're going to be an amazing mummy @beansprout55 🤍

So sorry to read this @unknownscot but so good the hospital are taking your anxieties seriously and brought date forward xx

Vimto1991 · 20/05/2022 20:05

I’m off to the hospital for a CTG just waiting on a call back, as baby hasn’t stopped moving since 2:30. You’d think I’d be okay, as I’m getting ten movements an hour, but it’s spread over the whole hour rather than one big burst which is what I normally feel. Baby has done this three times in the past, with not a real explanation as to why but been fine every time, so I am holding on to that that they’ll be okay, and I’ll be out before midnight. 😱
i hope it’s just caused by a day of literally not moving from the sofa due to my cold making me feel run down!! Hopefully it’s just made them overactive. 😩 I just want them here now.

Vimto1991 · 20/05/2022 20:29

Midwife called me back to tell me to lie down for another hour. I did explain it’s been since 2:30pm and I’ve been lying down all day due to a cold. They must be busy 😅 but she also didn’t sound so concerned so maybe I shouldn’t be.

GrowBabyGrow · 20/05/2022 21:14

I've been in for another ep of changed movements too. All was fine on the monitor but because it was the third time I have to talk to a doctor to work out a 'plan'. Was seen right away at triage and put on the monitor so fast but have now been waiting about two hours for the on call doctor to be available! I'm a bit worried about what their 'plan' is going to be - I don't want to lose my dream of a birth centre water birth.
