@CurryandSnuggle Thanks for your reply. He's basically saying he prefers daddy and doesn't want me to do drop offs/pick ups. It's totally understandable as I'm not much fun right now and daddy is super fun. Usually I wouldn't be that upset by it but this darn hormones are making me weep even thinking about it 🙄 We had a nice pick up today and I joined him and DH in a disco in his room this eve so feeling better now. I think I need to figure out some fun things we can do together that don't involve throwing him in the air...

Prema112 · 17/05/2022 20:16

@JAR1981 I'm leaky too!! And also struggling to get wee out when sitting, comes out when I go to stand up 🤦‍♀️ Not much fun but normal I think

@Yecats22 congrats!! Good to hear a positive induction story

fpeg · 17/05/2022 20:19

@Yecats22 congratulations ❤️❤️❤️ slightly jealous you got home so quickly, the hospital were unbelievably slow with that for me!

@JAR1981 I never had the leaking but I did massively struggle with peeing over the last week. I'd really need to go and then almost straining to pee, discovered I had to sit on the loo for about 5 mins at a time and stand up and down to empty it. Also discovered I could pee a bit better if I hovered, supporting myself with my hands. Never described it in that detail to midwife but did say it took me a long time to go and had to stand up/sit down etc. and she said so long as I could still empty my bladder was ok. Baby's head basically acting as a valve only letting small bits through.

InvisibleDragon · 17/05/2022 20:46

@JAR1981 no peeing issues, but I'm getting targeted ads from Amazon inviting me to "shop the Fybogel range" ... 🙄

unknownscot · 17/05/2022 21:26

@Yecats22 Congratulations!!! That's amazing news

Roxystar23 · 17/05/2022 21:38

Congrats @Yecats22 !!

@Letsbekindplease Glad you found your nightdress! What a relief that must have been! Thank you for the kind words. 😊

@Prema112 - I like to live dangerously! Haha!

I’ve had a bit of a strange afternoon. I went to my midwife appointment (usually I’m in and out and everything is tickety-boo). My partner couldn’t make today’s appointment and I said it would be fine. Or not. First of all, my BP was the highest it’s ever been and the highest the midwife has ever seen - she did it 3 times and all attempts were high. My BP is usually perfect but I’m worried about going into work tomorrow and also my air con is broken in my car so I was extremely hot by the time I made it to the hospital. I blame this. I then get told that my baby that was previously engaged is now breech & so they wanted to send me to the other hospital across town for a scan to check position. I’m sure there was no reason to cause such a panic. I had my scan and baby is in fact head down and was happily playing with their feet near their face. Relief! I’ve got to go to a clinic next week for them to check my BP again though. 36+5 and baby is estimated to be weighing 7.4lbs.

beansprout55 · 17/05/2022 21:48

Oh my gosh @Yecats22 congratulations! What was the birth like? (If you're ready and willing to share 🙄) amazing you could go home so fast. Thrilled for you x

Yes my bladder is a disaster too. Really anxious I'll pee in my white scrubs - reminds me I need to start using san pads.

Just make from maternity myself for the spotting. Grrr. They saw blood around the cervix so I was pleased as last time it had stopped they sent me on my way, probably thought I dreamt it up. Could be cervical ectropian but they're going to scan me tomorrow to check placenta is OK and to see if that's the cause.... I don't think it's the former. I never bleed after sex or bowel movements, but hey ho, still could be .
They tried to admit me but I refused so had to sign a discharge paper saying I went against medical advice. I asked the MW why the Dr wanted me to stay and she secretly agreed that there wasn't much point, I'd be much less stressed at home and they wouldn't be monitoring me overnight anyway. I'll be having the scan tomorrow with or without an overnight stay with crappy food.... but now I'm home I feel like a bad mother 🙁 CTG etc all good too.

Yecats22 · 17/05/2022 23:54

I don’t mind sharing as I thought it was pretty positive I went in on Saturday afternoon at 4 and had the first tablet at 6pm and then I had 3 1 every six hours, they brought my cervix forward only slightly but enough for them to give me a sweep and a dr to be able to break my waters.

I was taken to the labour suite at 6pm and waters broken around 8pm and on the drip at 9 at this point I was having contractions but was still only around 2-3cm. My contractions started and I was in active labour from 11pm.. I was only on gas and air at this point and asked for something stronger around half 2 and I was to far on at 2.30am I was 6CM and Louie was born at 0318. He was born with gas and air and I had no stitches.

I had heard really bad stories about induction but I am glad I think mine worked out pretty well.

I was checked over and back in ward by 8am and told by 1pm after baby had been checked over that I could arrange to go home if I felt ready.

unknownscot · 18/05/2022 00:13

The insomnia is real tonight troops!

fpeg · 18/05/2022 04:27

@Yecats22 that sounds like a very positive story, so many people only share the bad induction stories (in fact I think with birth in general people are more likely to share the horror stories than the "it all went well" stories). Hope you're enjoying this early time with your little one and they are allowing you some sleep! I still can't quite believe that I'm a mum now 🤯

fpeg · 18/05/2022 04:28

@beansprout55 good luck for today! I'd have made exactly the same decision as you x

Annabell1 · 18/05/2022 07:38

@Yecats22 Congratulations, and so good to hear your induction went well. 💕
@fpeg Happy you are getting on well.
Yes, you are a mum now. ☺️ Must be quite overwhelming.
@Starbeach I'm sorry to hear you had a shitty night. Apparently I'm also breathing loud so we are sleeping in separate rooms. I don't really like it, but it's better for both of us so we both get to sleep and are rested before the baby arrives. I hope you will find a solution. It's just temporarily. X

Octoblockisadick · 18/05/2022 07:44

@Roxystar23 sounds like there were reasons for your BP to be high, hopefully it's back to normal by next week!

@beansprout55 I would've left too, especially if you are still getting the scan today. Good luck for the scan!

@Yecats22 that sounds really lovely actually, I'm glad you had such a good experience.

I had a bit of a wobble last night. As I put last night, I've agreed to a section around my due date due to expected size of baby, so will likely either be 9th or 13th, but ideally I still want a natural delivery. By that date baby is expected about 10lb 8 based on scans, and although they aren't overly accurate I've had 4 by different sonographers all measuring identical, the line is tracking identical and my bump is rather large. I can tell baby is big when I feel my bump as it is literally all baby. So I get the risks of a natural delivery, and also don't really want a natural delivery if baby is going to be say 11lb if I go over. But i still feel a bit sad at accepting the c section. I know it isn't logical at all, and there's nothing wrong with the choice whatsoever, but it isn't really what I wanted at the start. I feel a bit like I'm "losing" the experience of giving birth, which I know is stupid, but I had an elective with my daughter and not planning any more babies after this one so I just wanted to try I guess.
I don't really know how to explain it, and I know it's silly. I've not been opposed to a section if it came to it throughout, but choosing an elective rather than it going that way in labour just makes me a bit sad.
Sorry for the self pity brain dump!!!
Hoping I can encourage baby out before the section 🤞🤞. He's engaged and I've been having on off pains so hopefully he's getting himself ready.

NorthDevonBeachLover · 18/05/2022 08:18

Hi all, so I ended up back in hospital yet again on Monday morning after bleeding overnight at 37+3 days, upshot is they induced me that morning and after a pretty stressful labour with epidural and forcep delivery our gorgeous boy Flynn was born yesterday at 17:26pm weighing 7lb. X

Letsbekindplease · 18/05/2022 08:26

@Yecats22 and @NorthDevonBeachLover congratulations on both your births. Both a bit different experiences. Enjoy your new little bundles.

I had what I thought was early labour pains last night for a good 20 mins. Got myself into a bit of a panic but i soon realised it must just be BH…at 2am. 37 weeks today so really any day now would be good (although I still ain’t ready haha)

annie1994 · 18/05/2022 08:53

Congratulations @Yecats22 on the birth of baby Louie!

And congratulations @NorthDevonBeachLover on the birth of baby Flynn!

Hope you both and babies are doing well 💙

It’s getting real now a few of you have had your babies 😳😂

ChildOfFriday · 18/05/2022 08:57

Congratulations @NorthDevonBeachLover! Lots of our June babies arriving now!

Katiebaby13 · 18/05/2022 09:10

Congratulations @Yecats22 @NorthDevonBeachLover must feel so good to have your babies in your arms.

@beansprout55 I would have done exactly the same thing!!!

@Starbeach I have started to snore and I really struggle to get comfortable so I move a lot. I usually do 2 or 3 nights in the spare room just because I work myself up about how much I move and how annoying I'm being. Your husband should have just got up and slept on the sofa without waking you but I have been a bit of a bitch in the past to my partner when he snores, I know he can't help it but it feels like torture to me when he is snoring and I am awake. Hopefully when your husband was fully awake and feeling better he realised his delivery was insensitive.

It is understandable @Octoblockisadick to feel that way. We are allowed to want/hope birth will go a particular way. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Octoblockisadick · 18/05/2022 09:14

@NorthDevonBeachLover congratulations!! Sorry it was a bit stressful for you though.

Starbeach · 18/05/2022 09:19

@JAR1981 my pelvic floor and bladder are now no existent ha ha! I have all sizes of tena in my cupboard short of buying their knickers

Congratulations on the babies ladies baby is still breech so I'm just resigning myself to a c section, but as long as she's safe. Xx

Vimto1991 · 18/05/2022 09:21

@NorthDevonBeachLover huge congrats on the birth of your baby boy! Sorry to hear it wasn’t plain sailing but your son is here now and hope you get to go home soon to settle in as a family!!

anyone else’s baby still hiccuping? My whole belly moves up and down now they are so big and baby gets so fed up they roll about 😂 if I was out in public my bump would look so odd. 37 weeks today! Two weeksish until I’m induced unless baby comes on their own terms (I hope so!!) 6lb 6oz currently seems like a nice weight. 🙈

pregnancydiaries · 18/05/2022 10:18

@unknownscot @mrkb @RoseValleyRambles thank you so much for your advise last weekend and sorry I'm only just replying now. I did go to triage with the cramp feeling, all ok with little one and as expected likely just body getting ready for labour. But I've had a rubbish week so just been hiding away 💗💗

@unknownscot how was the baby shower??

@fpeg it makes me so happy to hear about motherhood for you, if only a little more jealous! How are you finding settling in at home?

@Yecats22 and @NorthDevonBeachLover congrats!!!! Pictures of your gorgeous little bundles are always welcome!🤍

@JAR1981 my bladder definitely gave up around 31 weeks, the pressure is unreal. Another joyful symptom eh...

@Vimto1991 this wee guy hiccups every single day. Doesn't help that coke is needed to help with my sickness and that definitely makes him worse. I feel so bad like I'm causing them 😂

pregnancydiaries · 18/05/2022 10:19

Sorry ladies that was a long post just catching up with everyone.

My DP is away to Spain for football today, a 24 hour round trip was all he was allowed and since he left this morning I can't help but feel something is happening in my body. A psychosomatic labour perhaps 😂😂

Vimto1991 · 18/05/2022 10:26

@pregnancydiaries I noticed cherry coke gave them the hiccups every time I drank it! Must be something in it 😂 felt really bad for them, but I end up craving coke!!
fingers crossed baby isn’t ready to make an appearance in the next 24 hours for you haha 🙈 my DH should be at a stag do beginning of June, we decided that’s far too risky by then so he’s going to the wedding alone in Spain in August.
does seem a few of us are now getting crampy. My consultant said it’s normal, even the sonographer said it’s most likely your body taking the long road to preparing itself for labour. 😱 getting real now!!

pregnancydiaries · 18/05/2022 10:30

@Vimto1991
Isn't it adorable how much we feel bad for maybe causing their hiccups 😂 that's our protective mum instinct set in already!!!

Omg no it's so risky, you've made the right call. Letting him go for 24 hours was a tough decision but I'm only 35+2 so 🤞🏼 would you not take little one away in august? We have a holiday booked for September when he'll be 12 weeks 🙈 but fortunately my parents will be there to help or we wouldn't do it.

So real, when's your induction date? I'm sure you said yesterday but I'm being waaaay too lazy to scroll xx
