Hello!!!!

ChildOfFriday · 29/04/2022 07:47

Hello! Can't believe how quickly both the pregnancies and the threads are going!

imhereforthecake · 29/04/2022 07:53

Thank you for adding me 😊

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/04/2022 07:53

Thank you so much for the new thread and the tag!

InvisibleDragon · 29/04/2022 07:55

Wow, thread 11! Thanks for the tag @PlodandPod

@RoseValleyRambles and @RooSut25 I got a couple of blazers in a size up from a charity shop for work wear. I've been wearing them over plain stretchy t-shirts and they look instantly smarter. Don't actually do up, but no-one is looking too closely. £15 well spent I think!

@PeeAche2 That was a wonderful update. I'm so glad to hear your little girl is doing so well. Hope you enjoyed the date night!

@4thtimethecharm thinking of you and your little one too. I hope you're all doing ok and recovering from the unexpectedly early birth!

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/04/2022 08:02

For the going home outfit - I wore one of my maternity dresses last time and will do the same this time. I was in my maternity clothes for aaages months after the birth! 🙈

PeeAche2 · 29/04/2022 08:08

Hi friends! Woah! Thread 11. Place marking.

Prema112 · 29/04/2022 08:09

Thanks @PlodandPod Good job with the tagging!

Thanks for the new thread, @PlodandPod !

@unknownscot I was going to give perineal massage a go until I read some stuff saying you really have to push and stretch to make a difference… so now I’m not sure I’ll bother. Anyone here used it for a previous pregnancy?

I was going to give it a try too but I didn't know that you had to push that hard. Now making me reconsider, there seems to be a divide of people who say it's worth it and others who say it didn't help them at all!

@PlodandPod i want to try but struggling with time

JAR1981 · 29/04/2022 09:23

I bought some almond oil a week ago but it’s just sat on my bedside table. There never seems to be a right time of day to be like ‘oh I’ll go try perineal massage now!).

Also growing out of mat clothes, don’t think I’ve worn my jeans since about 20 weeks! I did buy a few tops on ASOS last week in the hope of some warmer weather but made sure they were all also nursing ones. For going home outfit I have a navy maternity t-shirt dress in case v sore, and will also take some dark over bump leggings and t-shirt plus a shirt/cardigan. Not sure what’s up with this weather at the minute isn’t it supposed to be warm by now?

On the colostrum harvesting- my midwife said she’d give me a kit to start this at my next appointment (will be 36+4). I’ll definitely try in case I end up with a c-section as know milk can take a while then.

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/04/2022 09:50

I did try perineal massage in my first pregnancy , but found it quite uncomfortable so I’m not sure I did it properly. Sadly it didn’t help me, but that’s not to say it won’t help others!

Yes, the dress I’m planning to wear coming back home is a stretchy jersey maternity dress that you can also breastfeed in. It’s actually what I wore last time coming home! Hope it’ll be ok with my C section scar.

GrowBabyGrow · 29/04/2022 10:03

Thanks for the tag and making a new thread @PlodandPod

T-shirt dress sounds like a really good idea for going home in. I've spent so much time thinking about what I need for baby that I've only just started to think about what I need for me!

I'm really loving that it's not got too warm yet as I am so bad in the heat! Although would be nice if the bank holiday was sunny. Not-so-secretly hoping we have a sunny but fairly cool summer as I am really worried about how hot it can get in our bedroom overnight in a heatwave

PlodandPod · 29/04/2022 10:09

@JAR1981 Your comment made me laugh about there never being a right time of day. I completely agree, I'm like err when exactly is a good time?!

@EarlGreywithLemon @GrowBabyGrow Thanks for the comments about outfits. I've ordered a couple of maxi dresses that will hopefully be quite loose so will see how that goes.

A friend was saying a few days ago apparently May is set to be one of the coolest on record, which I guess is good for us all if it becomes true as heat and being heavily pregnant don't combine in the nicest of ways! A bit of sun wouldn't go a miss at the same time though 😀

Need some advice.

I had iron tests done this week (32 plus 5 weeks preg)
Turns out my iron levels are very low despite me being on 400mg a day of iron tablets prescription. Range is 30 to 300 and mine was around 19! So gp called me to say its very low but didnt increase dosage or offer anything else. Im already eating a healthy diet. Just said continue taking iron and eat healthy stuff.

Now im sat here thinking should I have pushed for something to be done or is she fobbing me of?? Shouldnt I b getting Iron via IV infusion or something

unknownscot · 29/04/2022 11:21

I've been offered induction and or section at 39 weeks.
My concern is I am paranoid about stillbirth due to a close friend of mine having a stillbirth last year at 36 weeks.

The consultant kindly offered additional scanning, I already have a growth scan at 36 weeks, and she's offered 38 weeks too.

She said if I'm still extremely anxious they could induce me at 38 weeks.

I'm in a quandary about what to do!

pregnancydiaries · 29/04/2022 12:04

@MrsNT iron levels are split into Hemaglobin and Ferritin, with Ferritin being our iron stores which will start to deplete before our Hemaglobin (I'm no doctor but this is how I've interpreted it this pregnancy)

With a number of 19 it sounds like this might be your ferritin levels, as I understand that hemaglobin below 50 is seen as a life critical emergency...not to scare you but it definitely sounds like your ferritin.

It would be worth asking your doctor what your hemaglobin was as unless that is below 100ish (10.0) I don't think they tend to do an iron infusion.

I had an iron infusion yesterday as my ferritin levels were similar to yours 30, 19, 12, 5 but all the while my Hg was staying above 100, and wasn't until they hit 5 my hemaglobin then started to drop below 100 so was taking for infusion.

Sorry this might not make any sense but I'd say try not to worry too much, and find out from your GP about those hemaglobin levels. Xxx

Flowerbug1994 · 29/04/2022 12:17

@unknownscot what are your reasons for early infection or section is it anxiety ? I am absolutely petrified of still birth to the point we’re I am crying every single day thinking something is going to happen to my baby. He’s currently lying breech from 30 week scan and midwife yesterday thought he was lying transverse so it looks like I will be a c section have your doctors mentioned early c sections due to anxiety ?

JAR1981 · 29/04/2022 12:23

@MrsNT could you check with your midwife? It’s mine that’s been prescribing me iron vs the GP. Although that said I’ve had no further blood tests since I was told I could cut down from 2 tablets a day to 1, about 8 weeks ago. Are others on iron also getting regular blood tests to check levels?

@unknownscot sorry about your friend, stories like this are so sad and definitely anxiety- inducing at this late stage. We’re so close and yet it still feels so far. I also need to decide between an induction and ELCS if I don’t go into spontaneous labour by 40 weeks (could be earlier depending on whether baby is still measuring huge at next week’s scan). I have a week to decide. Currently thinking yes to pessaries/balloon induction but if those don’t work I will likely request ELCS vs the drip.

Wish me luck for taking my LFT this afternoon ladies. Last night was still clear and I am only seeing my husband outside for dog walks. Aside from delivering him his meals 🤣. Im
sure it’s supposed to be the other way round with him waiting on me at this point!?. Also feeling a bit sad that he’s not getting to spend time with bump after last week away too. On the plus side we got our maternity photos back and I am so so pleased. I’ve gone a bit mad and ordered a lot of framed prints which is crazy £££ but I’ve decided to treat myself with my work bonus. Here’s a sneak peak

MrsNT · 29/04/2022 12:35

@jar1981 midwife was the one who flagged it in the beginning but said I need to request from GP and GP is not increasing dose

Letsbekindplease · 29/04/2022 12:36

@pregnancydiaries how did your infusion go ? I’ll find out soon if I need one or not.

my ferritin is 19 or 20 but my hemaglobin result wasn’t back so assuming must have been fine and that’s why they have t called me ?

I’ve taken to my bed today. Just felt like my body had crashed. Felt faint and like I was going to be sick. Hoping it passes.
