@AlbatrossSociety oooh thanks for the link. It does look like it’ll be easier with one of those.

its 1:30am here. Woke up to pee. Have been sitting in bed waiting for baby to move. Got up to get a yoghurt. Ate it. Some small movements but nothing convincing enough. I know she’s probably just asleep but I’m contemplating getting up and driving myself to the hospital… urgh. This movement anxiety is exhausting isn’t it?

PleaseSendNoodles · 01/05/2022 06:43

Oh and YAY I’m glad you got some celebratory cake, @Brightsmoke

Vimto1991 · 01/05/2022 07:32

@PleaseSendNoodles im sat here at 7:30 waiting for baby to move so I can get up and start the day, glad it’s not just me that does this. Most likely they woke up to kick whilst I was asleep, and now I’m awake they’re asleep. 🙈

Turniptracker · 01/05/2022 07:43

Hello ladies! I'm still here, just been lurking for a while. For those anxious about movements are you able to identify any triggers you could use if you are worried about little one? Very cold drinks/hot drinks, playing music on the belly. I find mine really reacts when I'm watching tiktok on my phone and absent mindedly leaning the phone on the belly 😂. I can't really believe there is still another 6 weeks of growth to go, I swear he barely fits now!!

Clomid1 · 01/05/2022 07:51

@AlbatrossSociety thanks. She was on the 50th percentile at the 20 week scan. If you look at your scan graphs the percentile lines are very close together at 20 weeks so the margin of error is much much bigger. Therefore the consultant said she may have always have been on a low percentile and it just wasn’t picked up. The next scan should determine if she’s growing on a lower percentile or has stopped growing altogether. If she’s growing but on a lower percentile they’ll keep monitoring and just induce between 37-40 weeeks. If she has stopped growing they’ll take her out.

CurryandSnuggle · 01/05/2022 07:54

@Turniptracker mine reacts to music! Seems to love music 😍 cute. I agree I’ve no idea how I’ve still got another 5 weeks, the movements are HUGE now like a whole bum sticking out haha (look at this screenshot from video I took in bath, it’s madness!!), and it is rather uncomfortable 😂

Turniptracker · 01/05/2022 08:04

@CurryandSnuggle omg! The pushing outwards of body parts has to be the freakiest thing so far. I had an elbow jutting out right at the top of my uterus for the first time the other day and genuinely thought somehow my rib had popped out or something, until it slowly slithered back under the skin. Did not enjoy that sensation at all!

Letsbekindplease · 01/05/2022 08:06

I can’t believer still 6 weeks to go too. How I can possibly get any bigger!?
usually sudden loud noises I get a wee jerk like movement. Drinking tea usually gets her going too.
just up after a horrible sleep. Numerous toilet visits and heartburn. I actually brought up a bit of acid sick last night at 3am it was awful. I sat for about an hour worried if so it again

Flowerbug1994 · 01/05/2022 08:12

Am lying patiently waiting for my morning wriggle before I get out of bed ive had a good few movements like. Got growth scan at 11:30 be good to see if he’s still breech or transverse as midwife thinks from palpating me on Thursday. When I went in with reduced the other day midwife in hospital said drink something cold if ever unsure if there asleep that’s will wake them at this long because there higher up.

CurryandSnuggle · 01/05/2022 08:13

@Turniptracker oh I know it’s super freaky. I think in a weird way I will miss it though!

@Letsbekindplease oh bless you. If it happens frequently you can take medication, maybe speak to a pharmacist about which ones are safe in pregnancy xx

CurryandSnuggle · 01/05/2022 08:13

I can’t remember who it was but someone was specifically searching for button down nightdresses: www.happymama.co.uk/nursing/nursing-nightwear.html?___SID=U&ajaxcatalog=true&

Vimto1991 · 01/05/2022 09:05

@Turniptracker I went downstairs, ate some cornflakes (bit of sugar on them), played some videos and some lofi music and got some rolling, think we do have to learn to be a bit patient, despite my previous midwife striking fear into me to call triage ASAP, it always makes me worried if I didn’t go in I’d only blame myself, but this life inside of me isn’t a robot so the pattern can vary, I guess especially if my own pattern varies!!

Prema112 · 01/05/2022 09:38

Our babies are due next month!!!! Next month!!!!!!

NorthDevonBeachLover · 01/05/2022 10:04

Anyone else struggling with stupidly swollen feet and ankles? Any advice?

Vimto1991 · 01/05/2022 10:13

@NorthDevonBeachLover is it swollen or like edema? When you push down does it spring back up? I know swollen feet and hands can be normal (my wedding ring has been off for awhile now!), but remember can be a sign of pre clampsia.
you can try a foot spa bath, they aren’t too expensive, or you can get pregnancy friendly cooling gel which might reduce swelling? You could always try compression socks, too.

@Prema112 absolutely mental. 🤯 I am under prepared. Leaving everything until now feels like a mistake. 😂😂 there’s still somethings I don’t even want to build yet “just in case”. Think they’ll be waiting to be built until I go into latent labour. 🙈

CurryandSnuggle · 01/05/2022 10:42

@Prema112 crazy!!! Feels so real now 🤯

destiEos · 01/05/2022 11:14

Hello all, long time no post! Another new thread - yay!

I have been occasionally dipping in to have a read, but spent the last couple of days in bed - little one has been climbing up under my boobs I think and sitting/lying in anything other than a reclined position is super uncomfortable.

Also very confused about movements, he has quieter days for sure. I don't want to be running up to hospital every couple of days, but also - will you worry, don't you 😕

@Clomid1 - we were referred to foetal medicine on our 32 week scan as the little one's femur and humerus lengths were 5th or under percentile. We read around what this could mean (doc only said there were no other markers for dwarfism 😮), panicked and then cried on and off for 2 weeks. Went back on Thursday and the obstetrician measured all the babies long bones and he's fine. FINE - 50th percentile. Try not to worry and also push for more measurements, I wish we had asked the doctor to re-measure after the sonographer did as it was implied that her measurements were inaccurate. Also, as I'm sure you've found through googling - loads of people are told baby is small and the majority are born fine, or a little smaller than average but nothing to worry about.

Latest blood tests mean I'm fine for iron now and coming down to 200mg every other day - my bottom will be SO happy! Still taking the fybogel sachets daily though, I'm going to give my bum some time to recover 😂

Controlling fasting blood glucose levels had proved really difficult - morning readings are 5.3 or above (the last 2 days 5.6 and 6.1! I'm assuming because I've been completely immobile). The midwife gave me insulin 😔 I really, really don't want to take it. Having read around a bit, I think I should have been offered Metformin before insulin - does anyone know about that? I know I'm not a doctor but I really don't think a fasting rate that's usually below 5.5 requires insulin - non-fasting rates are always under 7.8.

Urgh, another 3 weeks too go...drags self towards May 25th by fingernails...

On positive note DH has built the Obaby Maya cot and changing table - whoo! Both look amazing, I'll post a pic once we clear the rest of the rubbish out from the room 😬 We did unfortunately also order the under-cot drawer, which doesn't fit on this model, so eBay/FB marketplace this afternoon as DH has already put it together. Unless anyone here has a 120x90 cot that requires an under-cot drawer?

Going to spend the rest of today ordering the last bits we need - changing table wipe-down thingie, nappy bin and Moses basket and stand, and I think we're done. Going to skip the Dockatot as there are literally no surfaces to put it on in the flat 🙄

Happy Sunday everyone!

Vimto1991 · 01/05/2022 11:46

@destiEos so good to hear the measurements were perfect after a rescan!! They should have just offered to re do it sooner rather than cause panic that long! Mine measured 8th for femur but we got told don’t worry about it, they’re often inaccurate so I was like… what’s the point then!!
im Not sure on levels but my friend was offered metaformin before insulin!

sunflower198 · 01/05/2022 13:44

@destiEos I agree - my diabetes team told me they'd try metformin before insulin. My readings are similar, usually around the 5.4/5.6 mark if they are over...although it has taken a good few weeks to start getting lower readings...but my team don't seem concerned about being slightly over whilst on metformin.
maybe insulin was given as it has a quicker impact perhaps at this later stage? I don't know though! X

JAR1981 · 01/05/2022 13:45

Hi ladies, happy Sunday! Such rubbish cold weather here I’m feeling a bit grumpy today. Still testing negative for COVID thank goodness but truly fed up of dancing around husband in the house, wearing a mask all the time apart from eating and sleeping and having all the windows and doors open in the cold. We are getting a bit snappy with each other now 😭.

Getting a bit nervous about our scan on Thursday too (assuming we can go COVID permitting) when we find out if baby is still measuring on the 97th percentile or this GD diet is working. @destiEos i finally got a call from the dietician on Thursday and she said at this late stage if not diet controlled it would be insulin vs metformin I think that’s standard practice in mid-late third trimester, not sure why. She also said levels regulate at 35-36 weeks so once there levels should plateau a bit or even come down.

Great to hear the obaby cot looks lovely. So annoying about the drawer though! Our carpet doesn’t get fitted in the nursery until 10th May so we can’t build ours yet but husband is currently hammering away at the changing table upstairs (we just got an IKEA one as didn’t need a chest of drawers style one).

Nappy research and ordering for me this afternoon. What’s the deal with nappy bins? Do I need one? Or two (up and downstairs?).!any recommendations?

@Prema112 eeeeeeeek!

@Vimto1991 glad you got the movement back. It is so stressful monitoring the whole time. I also can’t get out of bed until I feel them kick on a morning. And every time I get up to pee in the night I struggle to drift back off until I feel movement too. So much for all the advice about getting my sleep in now!

Prema112 · 01/05/2022 14:16

@destiEos Hi! Great to have you back and so pleased to hear baby looks fine on scan, and annoyed on your behalf that you had to go through all the worry because of a dodgy measurement!!

@JAR1981 You're doing well avoiding covid, it must be such a pain having to avoid your partner all the time though, hope he tests negative soon.

I can't remember who's partner broke his leg/knee?? How's he doing?

@Clomid1 So sorry to read, praying all is well with your baby. My IVF friends baby didn't grow much past 30 weeks, she had an induction at 37 weeks, a great labour and a healthy baby girl. It's good they are monitoring you closely

@Vimto1991 Also not ready! I know it's not that important but I still haven't bought baby's first clothes, currently he will be in his brothers milk stained ones if born now!

@4thtimethecharm Thinking of you lots and praying all is ok xxx

Prema112 · 01/05/2022 14:19

@JAR1981 We didn't use a nappy bin until our son started on solids as didn't find the smell of newborn poo very offensive. He was breastfed, I don't know if bottle fed smell any different. Once they're on solids though a nappy bin is a must!!! 🤢

Letsbekindplease · 01/05/2022 15:03

Let’s talk piles…anyone? I have anusol here and it says not to not use when pregnant or breastfeeding and to speak to gp. So I called triage to be told to wait until tomorrow to ask a gp. I’m in agony. I only had this after my sons birth and it went away with cream but obviously wasn’t actually pregnancy with him at the time. Feeling so damn sorry for myself today after a terrible sleep last night. 😂I can’t walk or sit down properly.

Vimto1991 · 01/05/2022 15:24

@Letsbekindplease mines awful, I fear poops. :( I should really be taking fybrogel after eating but forget every damn time. A cold wet tissue compression can help but still stings like heck.

mrkb · 01/05/2022 15:28

Hi everyone! New thread - can't keep up!

I just can't get my head around these baby movements - after last week going in because of reduced movements I've now had non-stop which also worries me. Anterior placenta driving me crazy!! I had a huuuuge and almost painful couple of really quick kicks on the side yesterday which did worry me as it was so different and unexpected but have had relatively normal feeling movements since so maybe she was just turning around? Who knows! I honestly feel like I'm just counting down for her to arrive now so that I know she's safe and sound more than anything.

I've got a phone meeting next week with a consultant midwife about ELCS (maternal request as I'm quite anxious about the birth) - I had expected to have to fight a bit more for this but my midwife just referred me no questions so maybe this is the bit where I have to push for what I want? I'm quite nervous! Has anyone had a similar conversation and knows what I should or could expect?
