@JAR1981 that's a gorgeous Pic! ❤️ I was thinking yesterday that my DP has no photos with the bump, however I'm not sure if he will be very interested in getting a photo shoot.

Another one here totally scared now of sth happening to my baby. First I thought I would relax after 12 weeks scan, then after anomaly scan... But no. Now I'm terrified of stillbirth. I have the silly wish of her being here with me now, like once she's out nothing bad could happen to her 🤦‍♀️

I'm also making my mind to start the perineal massage in three weeks. However I think I'll need to ask my DP for help, which also concerns me as when I explained to him, the look in his eyes totally told me he was getting it the wrong way 😂

Octoblockisadick · 29/04/2022 18:47

@JAR1981 that picture is gorgeous, I missed it initially when the threads changed.

@Prema112 I'm getting a fair bit, I can get maybe 4ml colostrum if I express for a bit while watching TV. Its more so that I've got a stock for when baby is born in case feeding is difficult. My daughter had a really bad tongue tie so couldn't feed, and apparently its genetic and much more common in boys. So I'm fully expecting this baby to have a tongue tie, so breastfeeding is likely to be difficult for the first couple of weeks due to a poor latch, so having a stock of milk should come in useful.

@Vimto1991 congratulations on starting maternity leave! And hopefully everything is OK at the hospital.

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 18:56

Thanks everyone, lil update - still here! Baby wasn’t having many accelerations or movements but normal bp so probably asleep, right at the end they started moving and got the accelerations needed to satisfy so all good…. Except it was picking up contractions so waiting on a doctor as they aren’t sure if braxton hicks or real. 😱😳

Prema112 · 29/04/2022 18:57

@Octoblockisadick I see! Sounds like a good idea, very cool that you're getting so much!

Brightsmoke · 29/04/2022 19:13

Thanks for the tag @PlodandPod :)

That is a gorgeous picture @JAR1981!! I got covid a couple of months back. Husband and son didn't get it, so fingers crossed you avoid too!

@NorthDevonBeachLover hi Due date buddy :) I got some stretchy bras from primark, that I wear now. They're super comfy. If you want something fitted though, it'd be best to wait until your milk is in

Glad you're going in @Vimto1991, best to be sure 😊

I haven't had a call to say I've got GDD, so I'm celebrating slightly. Will be on tenterhooks until I get the letter saying I don't, so feeling much more relaxed. All that stress and worrying over what looks to be nothing 🙄

beansprout55 · 29/04/2022 19:15

Omg @Vimto1991 no way!!!! Keep us updated please. How far along are you again?x

@JAR1981 you are stunning. Gorgeous photo to treasure xxx

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 19:19

@beansprout55 34+2, hoping baby will be around 5lbs if it is worst case scenario. Crossing my fingers it’s braxton hicks, though!! I’m not ready 😂

beansprout55 · 29/04/2022 19:21

Gosh, you poor love, what a shock. Will pray it is just BH. Glad you went in xxx

RoseValleyRambles · 29/04/2022 19:49

@vimto1991 that's a decent way along, but here's hoping you get another few weeks before the official arrival!

fpeg · 29/04/2022 19:53

@Vimto1991 hoping it's just braxton hicks for you! Fingers crossed they figure it out soon and you don't have to spend too long hooked up to the monitor! Being hooked up to it for close to 24 hours I'm definitely putting mobile monitoring on my birth plan if it turns into a normal birth. Because my one was early I had to stay still and rest so as not to encourage anything and contractions sat still I really didn't enjoy 😬

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 20:09

Thanks guys!
@fpeg I’m not on a monitor which is a bit odd, I even feel movements reduced and I’m quite uncomfortable, but no one has been in my room for awhile! I thought I would have stayed on a monitor until the doctor arrives, which is god knows when. 😳 it’s definitley a tight feeling, along with stomach ache.
hoping to see the doctor and all is well so I can get some food and DH can sleep, he’s asleep on a chair at the moment running on two hours sleep. 😩

fpeg · 29/04/2022 20:14

@Vimto1991 ooooh best of luck and hope the doctor sees you soon! I didn't get to sleep for well over 24 hours so take any kind of nap you can. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you and everything crossed that you get home to your own bed tonight xxx

hellointhere · 29/04/2022 21:04

I found the thread! Hello :) Has anyone had the midwife home visit at 34 weeks? If so, how was it?

PleaseSendNoodles · 29/04/2022 21:14

Oh gosh, @Vimto1991 what a turn of events! Hope it’s just BH. Good job you went in though!

I’ve noticed my bump is hard sometimes recently… no pain though 🤷🏼‍♀️ will mention it at my check up on Wednesday I guess.

Agree that is a gorgeous photo, @JAR1981 Definitely worth getting some nice prints!

@brightsmoke I think this calls for cake?

@RoseValleyRambles are you feeling any better after being under the weather?

@Octoblockisadick thats great about the colostrum. Well done! I want to try it later on but don’t dare start until husband is home (assuming he gets home!) at 39 weeks. Hope that’s not too late…

@Lostintranslatio definitely try to get a photo with you both and bump! Even if it’s just a quick snap by a friend with a phone camera.

Oh and welcome, @NorthDevonBeachLover !

Letsbekindplease · 29/04/2022 21:19

I feel a bit stupid regarding the iron tablets.
I took them for 3 months early last year due to low ferritin and also been given them in pregnancy and not once has anyone said to not take them around the same time as dairy.
I always swallow them with fresh orange , but I am a complete tea jenny and I think I must have them within the 2 hour window with dairy.

good to know now lol.

JAR1981 · 29/04/2022 21:25

Oh @Vimto1991 what a shock! Good job you went in. Hope all is ok and it’s just BH.

Thanks for all the photo love ladies, you’re right it will be such a lovely memento when I can hopefully look back in this pregnancy with fondness and the anxiety, aches and pains are all gone!

I had no idea I wasn’t supposed to take iron with dairy or tea. I’ve done this every day for the past 10 weeks no one told me not to! I didn’t get any info on my levels either and it hasn’t been checked since 25 weeks. Will get on to the midwife on Tuesday.

Still testing negative for COVID so fingers crossed, although we’ve obviously cancelled all plans for the bank holiday. Anyone doing anything exciting?

CurryandSnuggle · 29/04/2022 21:31

Thanks for the tag!

@JAR1981 Beautiful photo! 😍

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/04/2022 21:47

The leaflet for my iron supplements says: “You are advised to avoid the following for one to two hours before and after taking this medicine: tea, coffee, milk, eggs and whole grains. This is because these products can reduce the absorption of iron. Meat and products containins Vitamin C can increase the absorption of iron.”

In all fairness though it was the midwife who first pointed this out to me (in my last pregnancy). So I think you should have been told!

@Lostintranslatio I relaxed hugely once our daughter was born and I could actually see her. A good friend I was talking to about this felt exactly the same. The worst was the day they put the pessary in to induce me and sent me home until the next day (in fact I was in labour 6 hours later and in hospital 10 hours after that). But I was so scared something would happen to her at the last minute, especially as I couldn’t feel movement once the contractions started. I was so so relieved once they put me on the monitor and I knew they were keeping an eye on her!

@Vimto1991 keeping everything crossed, keep us updated!

RoseValleyRambles · 29/04/2022 21:53

@pleasesendnoodles Loads better, thanks. Paracetamol and half a tub of Vicks got me through. I'm naively hoping this means baby will now be a bit more immune to colds, at least for a little while. But I think that's armchair science...

Octoblockisadick · 29/04/2022 22:16

@RoseValleyRambles there might be some logic there, you might have passed on some antibodies. I've had an awful cold for a couple weeks and wondering about antibodies in my colostrum.

@Vimto1991 hope it's a false alarm for you! Strange you aren't on a monitor though, do you know when they will be checking you next?

Rolledthedice · 29/04/2022 22:22

I agree with @EarlGreywithLemon they really should tell people how and when to take iron tablets! My leaflet isn’t specific about timing, I only know because I googled it and my partner knows about chemistry.

I hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend, maybe the sun will even come out! 😊 🤞🏻 I’m celebrating my last pre-baby birthday tomorrow. Really hoping I don’t catch covid as we’ll be in town with our friends and I’m usually a cautious hermit. 🙈

Katiebaby13 · 29/04/2022 23:13

@Vimto1991 hope everything is okay and just Braxton Hicks. Then you can go home and start your maternity leave and relax.

So I'm thinking of doing the perineal massage but does anyone have a good website with instructions or videos of some sort? Don't have a clue and if I'm going to do it want it to be worth while.

Had a raspberry leaf tea today, pretty nice.

My pregnancy jeans are no longer comfortable. I have been off work this week and went to Northumbria for a few days which was great but lots of pub meals and my jeans were actually restricting me when we were pit on an evening. I feel like I'm struggling to eat as much in one go now too but I keep pushing it knowing I'm going to feel super uncomfortable.

@PeeAche2 loved your update. Your hospital sounds lovely. Hope you will have another update soon.

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 23:37

Thanks all! Finally back home, just wrote a huge paragraph and lost it. Long story short : cervix swab hurts, how will I cope pushing a baby out. 1% chance of labour, though! braxton hicks it was.

rapid movements not really explainable but baby passed the monitoring test despite being asleep for most of it. They think it was the way I was sat or baby changing positions in a rapid manner. Baby is moving around as I’m lying in bed now and drank full fat coke and had a McDonald’s for dinner 😂

also, they made me do a urine sample and I downed a litre of water before the ctg. I said I could provide a sample and I think the midwife didn’t realise I had already needed to Pee before then… then held it in for 20 minutes. Do you know what can cause braxton hicks?

a full bladder. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 23:39

I have the oil from expert midwife to do the massage. If it’s anything like what I just experienced at the hospital I’m not going to enjoy it. 😂 but open to guides!
my friend has warned me a sweep is even more uncomfortable. 😆

RoseValleyRambles · 30/04/2022 06:22

@katiebaby13 my LO actively hates my jeans. I think the waistband squishes him. He kicks me whenever I wear them. Just got some maternity dungarees which I may now live in for the next month. Grin
