@LolaJ87 How do you mean a second inconclusive? Are they not able to tell anything from the blood samples given? Sorry I've just never heard of that before. I thought they took a while to come back and not just a day or so? If you can afford it maybe try a private clinic for a harmony test? Hopefully all will be well tomorrow, stay positive. 💕

LolaJ87 · 01/06/2022 16:55

@hopefulsunshine11 so this was a private NIPT (Panorama). I first had it done when I was just over 9 weeks, and got an inconclusive result, not enough of the baby's DNA to test. That wasn't a major concern, it was early and I've a high BMI, so I had the test repeated at 11 weeks and they were confident that it should work this time, but same results again. Basically, the fact I still didn't have enough of the baby's DNA in my blood can indicate that there is a genetic problem.

I'm in Ireland so we don't do the quad screening blood tests here, but all my scans to date have been ok. Another scan and blood draw tomorrow. Please keep fingers and toes crossed for me and baby, I've spent most of today going down google rabbit holes and scaring myself with other people's outcomes.

RSmamaa · 01/06/2022 17:16

@Myotherusernameisaferrari so sorry for your loss. Sending lots of healing your way ❤️

@PennyFarthing30 hope tonight's appointment goes ok. Best of luck x

RSmamaa · 01/06/2022 17:26

@tasha4eva10 some days I have a bump and others I don't 😂. I'm 11+1 and this morning I was like ok I've lost weight LOOK AT MEEE but this is now as the day went on 😂

hopefulsunshine11 · 01/06/2022 18:41

@LolaJ87 sending you lots of positive vibes, I have everything crossed for you. It could maybe just be one of those things and all be ok. Step away from Google, I've been doing it the whole 13 weeks and it makes me so paranoid and convinced something bad will happen.

PennyFarthing30 · 01/06/2022 19:03

Just visited EPU and baby is perfectly healthy and was wriggling around. Was told that it was common and bleeding occurs with 1 in 3 pregnancies. I do however have a uti so need antibiotics but am so grateful that baby is healthy!

hopefulsunshine11 · 01/06/2022 19:14

@PennyFarthing30 That's fantastic news! 💕

Mommabear20 · 01/06/2022 19:17

Is anyone good at guessing babies gender based off of scans?

Phew! Finally had my NHS dating scan after 3(!) private scans. All is well, new due date of 6th December but could be earlier due to high blood pressure risk. Took the blood and the NT measurements so just waiting on them 🤞🏼 but the initial NT measurement looks good.

Still can’t believe it 🥰

PS if anyone wants a go at the skull/nub theory I’d be grateful!!

LolaJ87 · 01/06/2022 19:32

@hopefulsunshine11 thanks so much. I appreciate just being able to vent it out. The wait will be the hard part now.

@PennyFarthing30 congratulations, what a relief!

@Mommabear20 that looks like a girl to me…!

BuchananBaby · 01/06/2022 19:47

@Mommabear20 I'm thinking girl

@PinkFizz1 I think that looks like a boy

AG96 · 01/06/2022 19:51

@Mommabear20 looking girly to me 💞

@PinkFizz1 looking boyish to me 💙

Leila2022 · 01/06/2022 19:59

I thought I would introduce myself

I am pregnant and due very end of December beginning of January … couldn’t find a 2023 board so thought would join this one

I went for a scan at 7 weeks and measured 7 weeks 3 days heart beat was 154bpm

I have had miscarriages in the past and the doctor told me to come in again in 3 weeks which will be next week - she assured me no problems but just to reassure me … I don’t know … worried there is something wrong as the hospital I go to is a university hospital and they have a huge research program for early pregnancy … happened to me before and after some digging found out I had small sac syndrome - which they didn’t even tell me about at my scan

this time I know the heart beat is ok … but still worried they would ask me to come back …

does the risk really drop to less than 10% when you see a good heart beat ?

Leila2022 · 01/06/2022 20:01

Thought I would add my symptoms aren’t strong at all just mild sickness

my last successful pregnancy I had hyperemisis right until delivery and was told because of my age and condition I’ll probably get it again … haven’t so far :(

PinkFizz1 · 01/06/2022 20:02

Thanks @BuchananBaby @AG96 😍

and @Mommabear20 I also think yours looks girly! 💗

BuchananBaby · 01/06/2022 21:24

Can't even guess nub or skull theory with mine the pics are so bad 😩 find out what we're having on the 18th June but that seems so far away 😭

@Leila2022 Congratulations on your rainbow baby ❤️ I think if the Dr has reassured you there was nothing wrong that will be the case as if it was found they misled you that opens them up to investigations etc that they don't want. It's so hard after miscarriage to relax in a pregnancy. Try and be thrilled that they're getting you back in to see your baby again so soon ❤️

DogsAndGin · 01/06/2022 21:34

Hi @Leila2022 welcome
to the group! Yes the risk of miscarriage drops considerably after a normal early scan. Risk is 9.4% at 6 (completed) weeks of gestation, 4.2% at 7 weeks, 1.5% at 8 weeks, 0.5% at 9 weeks and 0.7% at 10 weeks. From:

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18310375/

I also have no symptoms, no nausea, no sickness. All the other women in my family have awful hyperemesis, so I was very surprised not to! 30% of women don’t experience sickness, so it necessarily anything to be worried about.

Leila2022 · 01/06/2022 22:37

Thank you for the reassurance and congratulations :)

My last pregnancy which I miscarried they did mislead me. As I have had many many early pregnancy scans I’m good at reading the charts (numbers) now - not interpreting scan pictures though … and knew something was off - it’s only because I went back to my GP who wrote to the EPU to ask lots of questions as she was also confused… I had small sack syndrome … and a heartbeat below 130bpm at 6+5, those factors combined indicate inevitable miscarriage…. However the guidance now is not to alarm expectant mothers and cause them potential undue distress so they told me when I did miscarry - that this was the case

I am now filled with worry as I have no idea why they will call me back when my 12 week scan isn’t too far off…

I did question them at the scan but didn’t want to tell me anything was wrong … :( so just left worrying

its so stressful

Leila2022 · 01/06/2022 22:39

Thank you for that it’s so helpful !

my last full term pregnancy in 2020 I had hyperemisis until I gave birth and GD - I think I was one of the only people happy to be furloughed as it meant to could spend time at home or in hospital on a drip and not have to worry about work … but was awful !

I might be lucky this time and not get the sickness as bad… but the consultant I saw at my scan said I am 99% likely to have it again due to my previous symptoms … who knows

it’s just the waiting and not knowing that is so stressful

Sdoubleyou · 02/06/2022 02:28

I had a nuchal translucency u/s today and it was an incredible experience. Baby's measurements are all looking normal at 12w1d. It was amazing to see the little movements, nose bone, we saw the little parts of its brain, the chambers of the heart. The tech also showed us dark spots on stomach and bladder, she said that means they're working and baby is swallowing and peeing the amniotic fluid like it's supposed to. It's just incredible that all of that is going on inside there!

Amphibian94 · 02/06/2022 07:09

@Leila2022 I wouldn't worry at all if they have given you no reason to. It is common to have more than one early scan with people who have had miscarriages just for reassuring and to check that baby is progressing nicely from one scan to the next. I had a scan at 6, 8 and 10 weeks before having my regular 12 week scan. The 6 week scan baby was measuring perfect with a heartbeat of 110 and the sonographer was happy. But still told me to come back at 8 and 10. Again measured perfect at the 8 week scan, but still wanted to see me again. It's not an indication that something is wrong. They would not pick up something being wrong and not tell you. X

Pinkfig · 02/06/2022 07:38

Is anyone else not going to find out the gender?

We've decided not to so lots of white, green and yellow clothes for us!

Mommabear20 · 02/06/2022 07:59

Thank you for your guesses! My cousin thinks girl too so I'm hopeful you're all right! 😂

@Pinkfig we're finding out at my 20 week scan on July 26th! I wanted to have a surprise but a few people pointed out that with 2 little ones already and it being so close to Christmas, I'd be easier to get everything sorted and not have to go clothes shopping once it's born! 😂

OP posts:
stuntbubbles · 02/06/2022 08:09

@Pinkfig Me! And however it emerges it’s getting DD’s hand-me-downs for the first year; I couldn’t give less of a hoot about a boy wearing a pink babygro – it’ll get poonamied on either way ¯\(ツ)

lifechanginglemoncake · 02/06/2022 08:11

@Pinkfig I don't think we will find out either. We have lots of neutral stuff from my son as we didn't find out for him either, plus the first month or so will likely be Christmassy stuff anyway! I figure Nanny and Granny will go mad in the January sales if it's a girl so we won't have any problems with clothes!
