Good luck this morning to @HayleyBean and @Pinkfig .

I had my 12W scan and blood tests last week, but still haven't received the results. Does anybody know how long they typically take to come back please?

Tofu35 · 31/05/2022 09:18

Positive thoughts needed today ladies! Have my scan this morning and I'm getting nervous because the last time I had a scan it was to confirm my miscarriage. I keep thinking of the mantra "different egg, different sperm, different pregnancy" but the stress/worry is really sinking in!

BuchananBaby · 31/05/2022 09:28

@GabsK92 I'm exactly the same I'm a bottomless pit over here too 😂 making up for everything I didn't eat in the first trimester 🙈

@Tofu35 sending love this morning ❤️

On the way to my dating scan I was so nervous I was shaking then Kelly Clarkson - Stronger came on the radio which is the song that was playing when my daughter was born and for some reason I knew it would all be fine 🥰

I think a lot of the things they say aren't allowed in pregnancy is a lot of nonsense with DD one of my cravings was haggis and I ate it once a week you're not supposed to because of the vitamin A but I would have had to have eaten it every night for it to have been an issue and she's absolutely fine

hopefulsunshine11 · 31/05/2022 09:49

@Tofu35 Good luck! I was the same last week, my previous scan before that was to confirm the same. The minute I seen that wee baby and knew there was a heartbeat was such a special moment. Relax and hope all is well!

Dora2018 · 31/05/2022 10:34

I'm a little late to the party however I am due the 18th of December! have my 12 week scan on the 6th of June. However I have already had 2 private scans as very anxious and everything looks great.

Bluebonnet3 · 31/05/2022 10:57

Today was my last scan at my ivf clinic. After this I am supposed to be full nhs. I've self referred to my nearest hospital (that my DH and his dad were both born in!) But I don't have my booking in date yet. Luckily everything is ok and measuring spot on for 10w 6d. Reassuring to see the little flickering heartbeat!

I also had bloods done for nipt. The clinic uses NACE brand which has to be sent off to the states, so I should get results in about two weeks. As part of my ivf I did PGT-A, so this embryo started off with high chance of the correct number of chromosomes.

I'm one of the lucky ones with mild-ish symptoms. (Maybe a little good karma for all the months and months of ivf stuff I've endured.) Mainly tired, hungry, bloated, emotional, with bigger boobs. And occasional stretching pains, mainly at night. Always thirsty and as a result have to pee a lot including at least a couple times at night. And I get short of breath easily. When I write it all down it seems like a lot. But could be so much worse!

My heart goes out to all of you that have strong symptoms, especially morning sickness and nausea. I hope all scans this week go well! And those with Covid and colds make a speedy recovery. 💐

Laughingmole · 31/05/2022 11:06

@KittyKat1989 I had my scan last Mindy and my screening results came through the post on Thursday so didn’t take long at all. Luckily all fine and low risk! Hope you get yours today x

Laughingmole · 31/05/2022 11:06

Monday! Not Mindy!

hopefulsunshine11 · 31/05/2022 11:11

@Laughingmole I'm in Scotland and they can take 2 weeks. I couldn't get mine as baba was wriggling about and couldn't get the measurements so I've to go for blood in a couple of weeks and she said they get sent down south so they take longer. I think those in England/Wales get theirs sooner.

HayleyBean · 31/05/2022 11:32

@pinkfig & @tofu35 I hope your scans went ok today!

@kittykat1989 - I was told if there was an indication of high risk, I would be called within 5 days. If my risk is low then I would get a letter in the post within 2 weeks

My scan went brilliant. Baby looks healthy and happy with nothing obviously wrong. Where I work for the NHS they gave me about 10 scan photos too which was lovely. It all feels a bit more real now. Me and my husband had a little cry. They've dated me ahead by 1 day which is nice so I'm exactly 12 weeks today

Tofu35 · 31/05/2022 12:58

Scan went okay although the wee one was standing on their head so it wasn't possible to get accurate measurements (even after I was asked to wiggle my hips, and then go for a pee). So it's another scan in 2-3 weeks to try and get those measurements!

Think I was expecting bad news so when I saw the heartbeat and at one point saw them hiccup I was super overwhelmed! Don't think it's really struck me yet that everything is okay.

LC84 · 31/05/2022 14:04

Am in the cold suffering club now (not covid tho!) And after worrying about lozenges etc I just had to mainline a load in my booking appt to stop me coughing constantly (not a great look in a hospital) but the midwife was lovely she said not to worry about a few cough sweets and to just have paracetamol and hot drinks instead of Lemsips...

Have been told to take vitamin D and was given daily aspirin dose too has anyone else had that? Its due to my high BMI am hoping its just precaution... plenty of larger ladies give birth just fine every day right?! 😳😬🙈

hopefulsunshine11 · 31/05/2022 14:19

@LC84 I'm on aspirin too! I've got vitamins, vitamin d and 150mg aspirin daily 😊. Again because of my high BMI. I think it's common as my friend was the same, my other friend who is on them it's because she had pre-eclampsia when she had her first.

PinkFizz1 · 31/05/2022 14:58

@LC84 Im on 150mg of aspirin daily from now until birth due to my high blood pressure (think it helps with preventing pre eclampsia)?

I’ve got the soluble ones so just dissolve them in water every evening and knock it back.

PinkFizz1 · 31/05/2022 15:00

Lovely to see everyone’s positive scan updates! I have my official NHS dating scan tomorrow, where I think I will be 13wks. I am still absolutely petrified EVEN THOUGH we’ve had 3 scans already 🤦🏻‍♀️ the last being just two weeks ago!

Then if everything goes well we will be announcing. 😬

I also have my first consultant appointment straight after, not sure what to expect from that. Anyone being consultant led that has had their first appointment and can fill me in?

I really really hope I’ll be posting positive news tomorrow.

stuntbubbles · 31/05/2022 15:02

@LC84 I’ll be on the aspirin from 12 weeks as I’m an elderly primate, or however they refer to us old gimmers.

siobhanmt247 · 31/05/2022 15:09

So nice to hear all the positive scan stories 😍

lifechanginglemoncake · 31/05/2022 15:16

I was on aspirin last time until 12 weeks for high BMI but not recommended this time (I think because second pregnancy and all was well with the first one?!)

I was consultant led last time. Usually they just go through the notes with you and talk about whatever risks you have and how they plan to monitor or treat those (extra scans, tests, medication etc depending what it is) and how often they need to see you. Also a chance for you to ask any questions.

AG96 · 31/05/2022 15:22

I've been taking aspirin 150mg and vit d due to BMI also on blood thinning injections atm due to covid. Consultant told me the aspirin is to help blood flow to the placenta. Also met with consultant who just went through different "risk" factors such as BMI and previous health issues. Didn't speak with her for long and was an okay experience for me. So glad to hear about so many great scans and would love to see some pics if anyone's sharing? So exciting now they're looking like "proper" babies! Marching into second trimester 😊

Meowcat89 · 31/05/2022 15:50

So nice to hear people's scans going well! I had mine an hour ago for the bleeding I endured yesterday and all is well thank goodness. Measuring 13w 4 days which is exactly where I should be! I'm just waiting to see a nurse to conclude the appointment but it's taking forever!

I'm also taking 150mg aspirin to prevent possible preeclampsia as my mum had it and I'm taking other meds that can cause it.

LC84 · 31/05/2022 16:04

Thanks ladies sounds like a few of us are on the daily aspirin 🤣 Ive not gained any weight so far (miraculous really as am living on toast, crisps and alll thr carbs haha!) And hoping after 12wks will feel bit better so can get back to healthy eating, cooking and swimming bit more!

Is anyone with risk factors debating an ELCS??

Orcarain · 31/05/2022 17:37

Had my scan today! Baby not wanting to move. Had me rolling about. Doing jumping jacks.

Baby then turned face on… not very helpful… but me and DP found it absolutely hilarious! (The sonographer not so much!) it then stretched its arm up and she said she counted 4 limbs and a heartbeat!

Too early for screening, so I have to go back in a few weeks.

DogsAndGin · 31/05/2022 18:00

So pleased to hear of the positive scan news! I still have what feels like a long wait - 13th June! I’ll be 13+4 by then 😩

Rose2022 · 31/05/2022 18:40

Same here! Mine is 14th June when I’ll be 13+5! But just think, it’s under 2 weeks for you now 😀

RhiRhi1996 · 31/05/2022 19:18

My NHS scan isn't until 20th June when I'll be 13 weeks! Such a long wait, but I've booked for another early scan on Sunday for reassurance!
